I just suddenly came up with a fairly disturbing FO4 idea lol

I’m a huge fan of horror stuff, so even when I do NON-HORROR tasks it invades me. I was listening to ‘Tonight you Belong to Me’ by Patience and Prudence and attempting to make a wholesome animatic for it and the idea in my head changed.

Imagine Nate (male SS) going through the commonwealth hallucinating his dead wife is with him, but not like ‘normal’ style, she LOOKS frozen and is slowly rotting as he progresses the commonwealth.

He took her whole hand instead of just the ring and now as it rots, his perception of her does. The other companions are like ‘oh why can’t I romance this guy’ and then one day he’s just randomly talking to Nick and he’s like ‘yeah, my wife doesn’t want me talking to people.’

Like HUH. Nick is confused and concerned and honestly thinks it’s a joke until Nate takes a rotting hand out of his coat pocket. The only other person who gets told is Danse who is incredibly concerned and trying to coax him out of this delusion (while also temporarily discharging him from his BOS post), but Deacon and Piper find out on their own.

Deacon just eventually sets up his own theories after seeing this guy talk to himself too much, and is slightly disturbed but makes jokes about it casually to see if Nate will mention it. “Man, I’m sure you two are boilin out here. Irradiated weather, am I right?”

Piper could just notice, but I’d find it funnier if Nate just TOLD HER thinking it was normal. Like ‘oh yeah, my wife is with me. She’s staring at you with the eyeball still attached to her head.’
