HELLO, WARHAMMER 40,000: ROGUE TRADER RPG FROM OWLCAT GAMES

I'm REALLY hyper about this and not going to shut up until the release! And after that!!

Knights of Caliban by Stefan Ristic

This
What do you think Rylanor did for ten thousand years?
So the new primaries stuff just got revealed...
And I’m not gonna lie, it’s a 50/50 for me
Floaty rhino: 7/10

Literally exactly what I expected out of a anti-grav primaries rhino:
Fuck ton more guns? Check
Weird land speeder esk anti grav plates/pads? Check
Ambiguous photo that leaves many questions about customization and features? You bet your sweet imperial ass!
It’s got what I’d honestly kinda dreaded and hoped for, the design is slightly more imperial than the repulsor, so at least it doesn’t break the art style as much as that weird ass thing.
But the amount of guns it has leads me to think it’s going to be far too much points wise, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say probably 130-140, maybe even higher if those storm bolters can be upped to frag launchers and that Razorback gun on the top can be uped.Over all though?
Probably going to grab one if it’s less than 60$, I need to shuttle my primaris somehow, and I don’t have the points to grab a repulsor, or the cash quite frankly.
Now,
the abhorrent one cometh......................

WHAT THE FUCK GW!?!?!?
SERIOUSLY WHAT THE SHIT!
HOW CAN I EVEN EXPRESS MY UTTER CONFUSION AND DISAPPOINTMENT AND RESENTMENT?!?
Alright, I’ll cool it for a minute.........
Let me at the very least list the things that make this vehicle a 2 rather than a 0 out of 10.
First, the missile pod. I like where it’s located, it reminds me a a leviathans hunter killer rack, but more up armored and simplified.
Second, the feet. Knowing what I do about actual engineering and design, four pronged foot pads like these would probably disperse this abominations weight out quite well, it probably wasn’t intentional, but good touch.
Third and final, the main gun. It looks to be a light auto cannon of sorts, probably a bit lighter than the one the Tartaros terminator carries. Fighting for what is essentially an imperial crisis suit.
Now...
Its been a minute.....
RANT TIME FUCKERS
ITS GOT SO LITTLE ARMOR ID BE SUPRISED IF I COULDNT KILL IT WITH A LASGUN!
FUCKING SERIOUSLY, YOU MAKE THE DREADKNIGHTS FLAWS LOOK LIKE A GERMAN MASTERPIECE OF ENGINEERING.
CHRIST JUST LOOK AT HOW LITTLE JOINT PROTECTION IT HAS
A FUCKING ROLL CAGE!?!?! THIS ISNT AN ATV ITS A WAR MACHINE, A HUMVIE HAS MORE ARMOR ON ITS .50 CAL
NIPPLE STUBBERS? SERIOUSLY? WHATS WITH THIS FETISH ABOUT NON BOLT WEPAONS ON MARINE VEHICLES?!
YOU GAVE IT A PISTOLED HEAVY BOLTER!?! THIS ISNT A GUNDAM GW! YOU COULD HAVE BUILT IT INTO THE HAND, BUT NOOO, HAD TO GIVE THIS SUMBITCH A BIG IRON.
SERIOUSLY, I KNOW THIS IS GETTING LONG, BUT NOT ONE OTHER VEHICLE IN 40K, NOT JUST THE IMPERIUM, ALL OF THIS GODS DAMNED UNIVERSE, HOLSTERS MECH RANGED WEAPONRY!
IT LEGITIMATELY GAVE MORE ARMOR TO ITS DREAD-COCK THAN ITS PILOT! HES IN PHOBOS ARMOR GOD DAMNIT AT LEAST GIVE THE MAN SOME ARMOR GLASS AND ADAMANTINE!
FUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!
..........ok, I’m better, not good, but better.
Even if this unit can one shot titans it’s not getting picked up, it’s poorly designed. Like the gene stealer cult armiger conversions look better than this thing, and it’s not a very marine weapons platform. If I can build something like it I may proxy, but since I barley buy from Gdubs anyway, this won’t be going into my force.

Lord of the Rings: Balrog Miniature
Over the weekend I painted a balrog miniature for my local gaming store, Atlanic Games.
When painting the miniature I had a lot of doubts over the design and how I would paint it. My main concern was over how the flames on his back and the cracks in his skin would look when paired with the black skin. This was enforced when I looked over others versions of the model where I thought the flames and cracks where not as prominent as I would of liked. However after I applied the dry brush of grey and white I think it really brought the whole miniature together into one cohesive whole with his skin looking like cooled lava.
Unfortunately the original miniature was missing it’s flames that go on the bottom of the base. I plan on looking round the store again for them and if I don’t find them I’ll try and make some new ones.

Old Wood Elves Squad
A set of ten old wood elves my older brother owned and gave to me, so I repainted them.
I repainted an old collection of wood elves I found for my first practice at miniature painting a long time ago before I created this tumblr account (like 6 months ago). I used the standard Games Workshop Citadel painting system of; base coat, wash, 1st layer paint, 2nd highlight layer. As this was my first painting experience with this system The lines on the cloaks are very prominent however I think this gives them a stylised look.
I created a diorama base for all of the models as I wanted a set of scenery that would make a nice background for displaying them and for taking pictures. I went with a forest setting as I thought this would be fitting of the wood elves.

Terror Geist Miniature
I finished this model a while ago however I never got around to posting it.
I painted this for my local games workshop's flying painting competition. I personally love dragons so I bought this ages before the competition.
I had painted a bit of it but I re-painted a lot of it and re made the base so that it look more dynamic. As the dragon stands on higher stones at the back of his feet I tapered the base so that it would look more natral like he was crawling down a hill or rocky mountin. This was the first time I have tried lightning and gore strings so they aren't done the best however I think the gore was done pretty well.
I came joint second in the competition so I was pretty proud! I was aiming for first for the next competition ;) . (I'll post that some time soon)

Gorkanaut Repair Shop: Runefang Competition Winner
I've been busy for 2 months working on a deathskulls gorkanaut for my local games workshops runefang competition. I came first place!
I tried out a load of new ideas on my model (not all of them worked). Some examples would be LED's, you can see the switch on the back which powers a small LED inside the belly and there is another led inside the small scrap shop under the gorkanaut. I also used chains and barbed wire for the first time which I think really added to the scrappy look of the whole thing.
I painted the gorkanaut in the colour scheme of the deathskulls clan which usually graft together their vehicles with pieces or other vehicles. With that in mind I added a large amount of guns and random weapons on to the gorkanaut so it looked scrapped together.

Yncarne, Avatar of Ynnead
A commission I did a while back for my local gaming store at the time. I find blending whites really hard so it’s pretty spotty. I do like what I did with the frost around him though.

Sakura Mistweaver Saih
A gift from one of my housemates for Christmas, I love the model itself. The colour scheme I used looks way better than I thought it would, it’s based off cherry blossoms as I haven’t painted a lot of pale coloured models.

Painted a pretend half page illustration for “Armies on Parade” for a uni project. Came out looking better than I expected!

Alarielle the Everqueen
Finally finished my Everqueen, I was meant to get it done by Christmas, and it came out really nice. Based Her colour scheme off of a succulent and cactuses with the red spike edges and cactus lumps.
Mainly wanted to practice my blending which I still think is my weakest point, maybe because don’t have enough patience for it.

That’s some good corporate social media sass right there.
Playing through it right now… 🗡️🏹🧝♀️🧙
The latest version, anyhow (somehow I missed out on it the first time round) - I feel this is one of those foundational things in the hobby, like Fighting Fantasy/Choose Your Own Adventure books (and Space Crusade, that was very much my on-ramp into this kind of nerdery)
I do still distinctly remember the TV adverts, though…
(As an aside, I feel like the newest edition has done a much better job in terms of adding a modicum of diversity to the world than the original ever did… the advert is funny though 😆)
Edit: I’m now learning that the original North American run in the 90s did feature a couple of female PC models in expansions, not just the recent edition!
Have you played HEROQUEST ?
By Stephen Baker

HeroQuest is Milton Bradley's approach to a Dungeons & Dragons-style adventure game. One player acts as game master, revealing the maze-like dungeon piecemeal as the players wander. Up to four other players take on a character (wizard, elf, dwarf, or barbarian) and venture forth into dungeons on fantasy quests. Plastic miniatures and 3-D furniture make this game very approachable. Expansions were also released for this system.
The HeroQuest series consists of the main game and a number of expansions.
This game was made in cooperation with Games Workshop who designed the miniatures and helped in many of the production details including background world and art in the rule book and scenario book.

I want Games Workshop to acknowledge that Necromunda exists more.
So often, GW (Games Workshop) goes straight where the money is. Where are people spending their money? On Space Marines, of course. It's the poster boy of the franchise, so the number one thing that they're gonna do is make as many space marines as they can because it's essentially guaranteed revenue for the company. Every noob to the 40k franchise wants a space marine army. It's just how it goes.
The problem I have is that within the franchise, there's so much more they can do with it than just the most powerful guys in the galaxy. rather than make the biggest, baddest guy in the room the posterboy, the citizenry of the imperium should take center stage to really introduce people to the universe, and to make neofascists understand that THIS IS NOT FOR THEM.
The problem with Space Marines is that they already know everything. They study up on all the enemies of the Imperium, which means a lot of the mystique of the factions is lost. Save for the Tyranids, of course, because they’re from another galaxy so nobody *really* knows what their deal is. If you are introduced to 40K by getting to know a bunch of Mary Sues like the Ultramarines, you wouldn't be remiss for thinking that humanity wins all of the time.
That statement couldn't be further from the truth.
In %80 of battles, wars, and any other conflict in the Imperium, people are fighting tooth and nail for inches of the battlefield, often with catastrophic losses on both sides because of just how desperate and how pissed the factions are at each other. This is one of the main messages that 40k as a whole is directly screaming into people's faces: War Has No Winners. What better way to introduce people to the concept who look at the battles and cant see that about the universe than looking at it from the perspectives of people who are practically destined from birth to lose?
Under the crushing power of the Imperium, scuttling around the piles of garbage, among all the soot and shit and piss and rust that EVERYONE generates; what are their little victories that help them to live another day in the Underhive? What keeps them from driving themselves to drink in a place where it's likely they've never even heard of the Sun before? In a world without hope, what gives them life?
This applies to whatever Cavill's cinematic project is in the universe as well. In order to make people understand that the viewpoint of the protagonist is bad, we have to start small. Dumping an audience in a place where there is practically infinite scale makes it meaningless, and kills off any serious stakes. A Necromunda story is the perfect starting point for people who have no Idea what the word 'grimdark' even means and by keeping it "small", we have a baseline for just how huge everything is.
I just want more Necromunda books, videogames, ANYTHING BUT THE TABLETOP GAME, man! There is SO much potential there for stories that are more than "I am the Big Gun Man!" Gang wars are happening all the time, High society intrigue, Smuggling and illicit stuff?! People love that mafia shit!
First attempt at airbrushing a model. Surprisingly forgiving but looks hard to master.
