One Punch-Man sketches I made to share now that season 2 is coming to its end.
Some months ago I was still doubting on wether watching this recent adaptation would be worth it (given the sudden change regarding production), yet, I went for it and I enjoyed doing so; my love for this series is strong, the way ONE and Murata are able to cooperate in order to narrate and depict such an enthralling story is amazing, and I’ll never truly be able to share enough appreciation for them doing so.
I hope season 3 comes along, just as much as I hope we can keep enjoying such an amazing manga for a long time~

Author’s note: I have taken the fan translation, my own translations and, some rewording to make the description a little smoother. His original greeting, “こんにちわんわんっ ボク好狼だよ” has a bit of a pun. The additional “wan” in his “Konnichiwan wan” makes it sound like he is saying the onomatopoeia for barking, “wan wan”. His first name, “Garo”, sounds similar to “gao”, another onomatopoeia, this time in reference to a beast bark or roar.
GARO is:
-there’s Makai, right, it’s full of crazy demon bullshit, and populated mostly by Horrors, demon beasts who look kind of like the Donnie Darko bunny in base form and who are ruled by a succession of giant women who are usually topless but not always
-Horrors can open gates to Earth via objects or people imbued with negative karma, then they pop out and variously eat someone alive/possess someone by force/”make a contract with me and become a magical kaijin” which causes them to evolve into a kaijin form and then they run around finding creative ways to eat people, or make them suffer and then eat them
-the Horrors are opposed, however, by the noble order of Makai Knights, men with magic swords (and sometimes axes or spears) who can summon werewolf armor out of the void and use magic to light themselves on fire like they were playing NBA Jam; the Makai Knights are backed up by the Makai Priests, who are either ladies in fairly ridiculous costumes or an older dude in robes/often a doofy-looking hat and use calligraphy brushes to do magic spells
-however the Makai Knights and their whole thing must remain seperate from the world of men so they use magic to live sidealong the modern world kind of Harry Potter meets the World of Darkness with a heavy slant to the World of Darkness side (no one finds it odd when these motherfuckers walk around in incredibly fancy trenchcoats and leather basically at all times)
-the strongest of all Makai Knights is the Golden Knight, Garo, who is, appropriately enough, very shiny and golden and the protagonist of each series; since the knighthood and armor are a family title, though, there have been different Garos
-also Garo always has a magical talking ring friend named Zaruba who’s shaped like a skull and sasses him at all times
-and in at least three series has an adorable butler named Gonza who’s like Japanese Alfred Pennyworth
-someone always gets the bright idea to summon one of the Horrors’ various queens or try to harness their power and very nearly ends the world, Garo’s job is to stop this.
TL;DR -- World of Darkness furry toku knights fight early-Heisei-lookin’ kaijin in the shadows, prevent the end of the world a lot. Masahiro Inoue graced us with his presence in the latest, GARO: GOLD STORM, where he played Zinga, the most delightfully scenery-chewing sociopathic villain in all the land, and stole the entire show out from under the protagonists’ feet, which is quite something because they were cute and already had audience love from a previous show.
