Spooky - Ghostbur x Ghost!Reader

This is very short unfortunately bc I have like no motivation but happy halloween :D

Theme: fluffy ghost antics :D

Being a ghost wasn’t all bad. Halloween on the server was the perfect time to scare people, and Y/N and Ghostbur were quite good at it. To the point where most people would warn others to beware of the duo.

This Halloween, the two ghosts had dressed Friend up with a sheet that had two holes poorly cut into for eyes and a sharpie-mouth smile underneath. They were leading Friend around, moving things from chest to chest, hiding people’s belongings. Of course, this wasn’t their best work, they were just warming up. The entire day was spent messing around with people, playing around with Friend, and once it started to get darker they started to actually scare people. Some people were easy to scare, such as Niki or Ranboo, while others were very tough to scare but eventually they found a weakness, like Sam or Phil. Although, with Sam, they just needed a cat for him to be running the other way. They’d forgotten how creepers were with cats.

After a successful day of scaring and pranking, the two and their blue companion laid down, exhausted, underneath a big tree. 

“I think we scared more people than the year prior,” Ghostbur said happily, petting Friend lightly after taking the sheet off. “I’m really glad we got to do this, Y/N.” 

The other smiled and nodded. “Yeah! It’s really fun to hang out with you, Ghostbur. You’re like my best friend.”

Ghostbur isn't that much of a yandere if I'm being honest.

Like I have said before, the only reason he is a yandere is because he had some possessive side left behind from when he was alive.

Ghostbur would be more clingy to you though.

He does like a little more of your attention on him.

He's very mild and mostly harmless.

Notice how I said mostly.

Ghostbur isn't one to play tricks on his darling just for the hell of it.

He rarely ever manipulates his darling.

Ghostbur hates it just as much as darling.

But why?

Why would our sweet like ghosty phantom boy manipulate darling?

"mAddEn i THoUgHT yOu saId hE wAs HarmLeSs."

Well I did.

But I also said mostly.

So let's get into that.

The only time Ghostbur will ever manipulate you is when he is jealous.

Ghostbur likes to believe that he has a good judgment of character when it comes to your friends.

He's okay most of the time with your friends, as long as you guys don't get too touchy. A hug or two is fine, but only side hugs.

It doesn't matter the gender.

This man still has a little bit of Wilbur.

And Wilbur got jealous very easily (remember the TV incident?)

When you leave to go hang out with your friends Ghostbur will say this:

"Oh, okay! Have fun, and be careful."

And what he means…

"Oh yeah, go hang out with them. But be sure to stay a comfortable distance away, and I'll be watching from afar!"

Yeah...he does that. Not in that creepy of a way.

But what happens if you do make him jealous?

Well…

He cries.

Ghostbur can't do much, he doesn't have the heart.

Like he doesn't have the heart to be too jealous, it will just eat at him.

So you better be there to comfort him.

To avoid making him jealous/ungodly sad, make sure you lay out your boundaries with friends all Ghostbur is present.

This will make him feel more secure in your relationship.

Don't get me wrong, Ghostbur had also had trust in your relationship; but who doesn't like extra security?

What type of darling is Ghostbur's favorite?

Well, there's quite a few darlings that he likes.

But for now I'll just go over the top three.

1- Confidant, but humble darling.

Ghostbur looks up to you for your confidence.

He loves how you believe in yourself so much, and how you are so happy with yourself.

It makes his heart pulse with love whenever he sees you do something well, knowing you can do it well.

But what seals the deal for this man is how you don't brag about it.

You don't go out of your way to tell everyone that you did this and this without making any mistakes.

You just take your victory silently and smile.

2- Quiet, but smart darling.

In Ghostbur's words, "Wow...I wish I could have your big brain."

You're so quiet, but your mind is like a whole other world to this man.

Ghostbur loves how you can solve puzzles, in what seems, like just seconds

You amaze him when you speak your mind with your genius ideas.

He loves how you are willing to just answer all his questions when you cuddle.

Even if the question is just random, like a really hard math question that he just came up with.

"Love?" He'll ask.

"Hm?"

"What does 72×(234-92)67 equal?"

You'll think for a moment, "685,008"

The pure amazement in his eyes is bound to make you at least smile.

3- Ambivert darling.

Ghostbur will be all over you.

You have the perfect balance of social time, and Ghostbur time.

He appreciates how you know what to say when to say it.

Your personalities may differ, but as long as you aren't too intense he will love you no matter what.

There isn't anything that stands out about you in a crowd, and that's what he loves.

You're recognizable if someone knows you, but if not; you're just another random face on the street.

Wilbur's favorite activities with his darling are mostly staying at home and chilling.

He loves watching older movies with you, and you two can just laugh at how bad they are.

But if you're into art, he'll try to find an art gallery nearby if that's your thing.

Really, Ghostbur will enjoy anything you enjoy, as long as you're happy.

But he will absolutely melt, if you take this man to a music store.

How do you exactly become his darling?

Well you were a good friend of Ghostbur's and you two slowly became a couple.

Pretty boring I know..

But you think this man has the heart to kidnap you?

No way.

Ghostbur is a mild yandere.

You said that Ghostbur would be scared of a more yandere darling... but what about headcanons for if his yandere darling was literally unable to kill/torture people? Maybe a situation like Blob Dream's, maybe they just have Rocket Duo's luck - but for whatever reason, they're effectively harmless, and any attempts end up more adorable or comedic than anything else. Ghostbur would adore you.

He loves how you have such a fascination and love for him.

He also finds it adorable how you try to be scary, but you're kinda like a hamster trying to hold a knife.

It's more funny and cute more than anything.

But Ghostbur is not stupid, he still knows your true intentions.

So he tries to sit down and have a talk with you over it.

He does understand that you can't do anything, but he just prefers that the aggressive thoughts be gone as a whole.

But Ghostbur does appreciate how you hold his cold hand when you get uncomfortable with how close people are getting to him.

Or how you constantly litter him with affection.

Ghostbur also appreciates how you ask him a bunch of questions about himself.

He likes to know that there's somebody out there that will love him no matter what his interests.

Ghostbur especially loves to cuddle you.

Why?

Because you hold onto him like he's gonna disappear.

You're so passionate with him, and your actions.

You're not much of a talker when it comes to spreading your affection, but you more or less show others with your actions.

You're not a complete heartless person that has no friends or anything.

But you kind of share the same friend group as Ghostbur.

This makes life slightly easier for you.

You know you can trust most of these people, and they won't try anything with your little phantom.

The difficulty comes when Ghostbur tries to introduce you to new people.

You can be kind of standoffish…

But other than that, you're practically harmless.

At some points if Ghostbur is in a playful mood, he'll tease you about your little conical attempts.

In response you get a tomato face, but you wear a soft smile.

Ghostbur loves that smile.

That satisfied smile, knowing for well you have Ghostbur to yourself.

Though I do warn you, just because you are physically harmless does not mean you are mentally or emotionally harmless.

This is where you need to tread lightly.

Do not use your words as a weapon, if you want to keep the man around.

Ghostbur does not have a strong heart, he cries easily.

So if word comes to him that you have been threatening his friends or loved ones, to break down.

This is his fault.

He tried his best to knock your intentions out of you, but it just didn't work.

He has to go away now, to keep you and everybody else safe.

And don't even think about trying to kidnap this man, he'll just break.

I'll sit in the room that you haven't placed in, staring blankly at the wall.

You shouldn't have a problem if you can keep your possessive side to a minimum.

Some possessiveness is cute, too much is just toxic and dangerous.

Like I said before, Ghostbur is no fool.

So don't even think about manipulating him, or he will shut it down quickly.

Ghostbur will give a few chances to redeem yourself.

It's up to you, if you take those chances.

In short: Ghostbur and this darling would work great together, if dear little darling knows how to keep their mouth shut and not use their words of evil. Like I said, tread lately.

Honestly, Ghostbur with a child darling is like the most wholesome and confusing thing you will ever see.

You, as a child (7-10), don't know anything about the world.

And Ghostbur, being a ghost who lost his memories, also doesn't know anything about the world.

Some would even go as far to say that he himself is even a child.

Sure Ghostbur knows what's dangerous, how to craft, use weapons, and ect.

But social wise, he is about as useful as an inside out umbrella on a rainy day.

So this is going to be an adventure for the both of you.

So how did you two meet?

Well, Ghostbur was taking a nice walk around the SMP, when he saw a kid.

A kid that was about to fall into a deep hole.

WAIT-

A KID ABOUT TO FALL INTO A DEEP HOLE?!

Yep.

That was his thought process, right before he flew over to you, and quickly pulled you back.

"Oh my XD! Are you okay?! You're not hurt are you?!"

He would say it multiple times until you answer.

But you were just yanked away from your likely demise, and your child brain can only handle so much.

So least to say it scared him when you had a lack of response.

But when you did finally reply, Ghostbur was relieved.

Though the quiet only lasted so long before he started to interrogate you out of worry.

"Where are your parents?!"

"Do they know you're out here?!"

"Why were you standing so close to the edge of that hole?!"

"How did you get here?"

"Where are you from?"

"Where do you live?"

"How old are you?"

"What's your name?"

"Where can we find your parents?"

These questions and so much more were tossed in your direction.

You were barely able to answer one, before another one was thrown your way.

So in the end, all you replied with was:

"I...I don't know."

And with this, Ghostbur was completely stunned.

After finding out that you don't remember your parents, Ghostbur will let you live with him.

This relationship will consist more of an inexperienced with children uncle and his niece/nephew/gender neutral term for that.

Ghostbur will have this overwhelming need to be very protective of you, but in a gentle manner.

Unlike a romantic darling, Ghostbur doesn't want your attention on him 24/7.

But he still does watch from afar.

Whenever you're out playing with the animals of a forest, or children villagers, he watches you with hawk eyes.

And the instant any danger threatens to appear, Ghostbur is bringing you back home.

He'll likely keep you inside for the next day or so, just to make sure you're safe.

The people he allows you to hang out with are a lot more versatile compared to the other DSMP members.

Ghostbur is a fairly disorganized being, so your growing up will be a bit messy.

But he tried his best to keep a schedule with you.

Don't be surprised if you have Ph1lza around a lot to help get you and his life in order.

What about an education?

Well, Techno is obviously your history teacher.

And...Ph1lza is everything else.

Ghostbur's main house rules are:

1- Be home by dark

2- Don't hang out with anyone your not allowed to

3- Tell him when your leaving/coming home

4- Always have a knife on you

5- Sundays are family days

6- use common sense.

In short: Living/having Ghostbur as a guardian is fairly laid back, except for the constant feeling of being watched. He isn't as possessive or bad as the others. 8/10.
