I'm still standing

Legend hates the gods. Change my mind. No no no, hate is a too small word. He despises them. Which is why I believe I'm still standing is the song best fit for Legend.

"I'm still standing better than I ever did." Could be referring to when Legend stopped believing in the gods or gave up on them.

"Picking up the peaces of my life without you on my life" Refers to Legend finally finding peace in himself without having to worry or think of the gods, finally getting his footing back.

I could go on and on but I'll just do this. Sorry for the religious people, sorry Sky but this is the truth 😔

If there was a crossover of Percy Jackson (book or series idc) and Legend of Zelda or Linked Universe, I feel like Legend and Percy would bond over the fact that they both have just about as much bullshit that they can take from the gods. They're both so done TvT

 \\\Hey! Firstly, I’d like to apologize for being absent. There was moving, procrastination, and Monkie Kid took over my brain for a while...among other things. But I’m a bit better & ready to dive back into the LOZ works, epspically with AOC now out booming! Now onto the intro/bio thing!

It’s been a good 20ish years later into the future. After the events of the Calamity Zelda has been queen for some time, the Champions have been trying to live normal lives. Link couldn’t be happier with the fact he ended the cycle, regardless of the very fucking stupid questionable circumstances of how he did that. His marriage to Mipha caused mixed reactions, some rejoiced & some opposed it. He has long since given in to his wild nature, though as much as the wilds call him, he always comes back to Mipha and only her. 

His regalia is far more simple compared to Miphas or their child’s. It mainly consists of Pearls and Sapphires, if the need calls for it he’ll dress up more. Otherwise he just wears rubber armor and Zora Greives. 

Link with the aid of Demise became a vessel for the Calamity, Zelda sealing it within him. So far he’s been able to keep it in check up until his child was born , now there is piece of Malice growing & unfortunately he has no proper way of getting rid of it without potentially killing said child. His eyes reflect how much Malice has overtaken him...perhaps he was meant to die to the Calamity? Perhaps this is a consequence for defying what should have been? 

Link can use the Malice for whatever he desires, he can’t however summon a  Blood moon. As for the Calamity...Link has several ‘methods’ for releasing his anger & stress to prevent a 3rd technically he is the 3rd. His current concern is his child the 4th Calamity in the making . 

My TLOZ headcanon(s)

HERO’S SPIRIT:

-I believe that Hylia’s Chosen Champion was actually the second Link to receive The Hero’s Spirit after The Hero of Hyrule.

-I believe that The Hero’s Spirit is a non-linear entity and chooses a Link based on what it sees as the biggest challenge in the timeline.

-I believe that The Hero’s Spirit was born in the original 1986 Legend Of Zelda and as such is older and stronger than the Golden Goddesses who were first created in 1991 with A Link To The Past.

-I believe that The Hero Of Hyrule is the Physical embodiment of The Hero’s Spirit and as such is the only Link that can access its full power.

-I believe that The Hero’s Spirit experiences every game and book where Link is a character including non-canon games, crossovers, fan games, and every manga.

THREE GOLDEN GODDESSES:

-I believe that they are the ones perpetuating the cycle that causes the events of each game to take place.

-I believe that Nayru created Hylia and that Din created Demise.

For anyone in the Legend of Zelda fandom and Linked Universe, I have an idea for a story. You can use the idea because I’m horrible at keeping track of what I want to write. Good luck!

The Plot: Unknown to the heros, the shadow goes back in time and kills Warriors after he and Artemis seal Ganondorf in order to weaken the Chain. The effects on Time itself shows in Hylia’s heros. The group of 9 are reduced by 2 since Warriors was now killed before the journey starts and Wild is erased due to the fact he was a descendent of Warriors. Time (the hero) is now more jaded and full of anger due to watching the one considered his big brother be killed in front of him. He is more reckless and quick to anger. His markings are now complete and has the power of the Fierce Deity without the use of the mask. Wind, who was there in the war shortly after turning 13, is also jaded and wanting revenge for Warriors’ death but not as reckless as Time. The others are more or less unaffected outside of being very concerned with Time and Wind’s health and sanity.

With the exception of Legend who, thanks to his royal blood, remembers Warriors and Wild and is unaffected by the time change. With Hylia’s direct help at last, Legend takes Sky, Four, Hyrule, and Twilight back into the past in order to save Warriors’ life and in turn, Wild’s existence.

There’s just one little problem.

They must not be seen by Warriors, Artemis, Mask, or Toon or the Golden Goddesses will interfere and possibly stop them.

Goddess of love, desire, sexual pleasure, fertility, beauty, and grace. But people have forgotten she was also a Goddess of Marriage, Sailing, Civic Order, and War. People especially forget that last one. Even many of the other Gods and Goddesses have forgotten.

They quickly remembered. Aphrodite is protective of all her children but the one she is most protective of is not even a human but a Hylian. Link Tailleur, Hero of Warriors and a Champion of Hylia and Farore. She blames herself, seeing Cia’s actions and the War of Eras as karma for her actions with Helen, Paris, and the Trojan War itself and as a Goddess of beauty, it would make sense that her son would also be beautiful. Beautiful enough that a psychotic immortal time sorceress would break time and space to have him.

Aphrodite showed them that just because she was beautiful did not mean she was weak. Hylia will not stop her oldest friend and would not hesitate to help her. She cares for all her heroes (even though a few believe otherwise) and if Zeus or any of the Titans think they can harm even a single hair on their heads, Hylia will show them how she truly help the First Link against Demise. Though her people have portray her as a beautiful maiden with as times wings like her friend, she is a powerful warrior through and through. Her eldest sister Din, Goddess of Power, would severely disappointed if she were anything less.

Aphrodite and Hylia. Both are beautiful. Both are deadly. Both will make those who have forgotten remember that they will always protect the ones they love. Even if the ground is dyed red with blood.

Beauty and Light.

Beauty can easily hide one’s deadly intent. Light can burn those who are not careful.

Both can cause death in the right circumstance.

Anger the Goddesses of Beauty and Light and your soul will never know true peace after death.

Just look at Cia. Her soul screams for rest. But until the Goddesses’ anger at her actions fade, she will never know peace.

The Goddesses of Beauty and Light will get justice for their love ones as well as protect them.

i think hylia has a lot on her plate, and looking at how fractured and messed up the timeline is/how many times hyrule has actually fallen, its safe to say she hasnt handled everything. perfectly. but its not entirely her fault. her 3 bosses left her w this cursed land and fucked off to an eternal girls trip. shes gotta deal w all the shit hyrule goes thru, so id imagine shed have her quirks. and get scary when things go badly. which is often.

I don’t think people talk about the messed up relationship between the goddess hylia and her chosen enough. Like, Link takes a LOT of nonsense through his generations, but specifically the fact that Zelda spends all of BOTW desperately looking for her approval and her to speak to her just once, spending all her time devoted to this destiny, while Link (while he is very much dealing with his own stuff, THANKS HYLIA) can just. call her up. she speaks to him no problem all the time. we exchange her objects for hearts and stamina the whole game.

And Link doesn’t even seem surprised! In both games this happens in! Like he had memory loss in BOTW yeah but for it to be so ingrained in him that he doesn’t startle TALKING TO A GODDESS is astounding. Just, thinking about that. If Link could do that and knew the whole time. Wondering why she only spoke to him. Knowing it would break Zelda if she knew, asking hylia why. Anyways i’m back on my LOZ nonsense the one chosen by an fickle god trope is very dear to me

I pray to a god who does not listen

Drawing some more of my LOZ nonsense. It’s a personal headcanon that Link is aware of his eternal cycle, and knows it was caused by the goddess Hylia. He grows weary, but reigns eternal.

Personally, I like to start my mental timeline with ocarina, but the idea of skyward sword happening and over the ages this great love rotting into something completely other is also pretty interesting to me. This was mostly spawned by the observation that Zelda is more of a held title, a lineage- in BOTW it’s very frequently mentioned that Zelda’s mother was the previous Zelda to hold the title and powers. But with Link he’s usually just a kid. Living with his grandma, among the kokiri, taking up his fathers sword. Link is not a lineage, Link is a person. That’s really neat to me.

Me, On a Good Day: Goodness do I love dragging Hylia. She's on thin ice and the way she ended up dealing with Demise and unwittingly doomed First's Incarnations and her own definitely deserves scrutinizing. As a mythology fan one would think expecting a goddess to love you back would be a fool's errand.

Also Me, A Second Later That Same Day: You know, maybe we are looking at Hylia wrong, maybe we are judging too harshly. Who knows maybe we are just conveniently ignoring the fact deities have different views of reality and that, given she loved First back, she likely hates/hated herself just as much if not more than we do. Maybe she genuinely tried to do her best with what she could at hand even if she went and traded notes with the Pale King in methodology, No Cost Too Great, we theorize she's a goddess of time so who knows what she saw or knows that we don't and maybe the cycle was always fated to happen no matter what she did and we have to consider Demise getting the Triforce would have been just as bad if not worse even if he can't use it to wish on anything. Maybe we are judging her too harshly because of our mortal point of view.

Me Once More, After that Same Line of Thought When Anything Goes Wrong in a Zelda Playthrough and The Boys are on One Heart or Angst Hits after Remembering How Their History Goes: This is all your fault Hylia.

*head in hands* Thinking about likely unintentional LOZ and Hollow Knight parallels between Hylia, the Pale King, First and the Pure Vessel again.

*downs coffee like a shot, stares off into the rain, briefly nods to @unexpectedtraveler before staring off into the rain again, downing more coffee* Thinking about parallels between Hylia, The Pale King, The Pure Vessel and the First Link again.

How Hylia and the Pale King are both pale assigned deities (what with Hylia calling herself the white goddess in the manga), and how everything basically stems from them attempting to protect something, Hylia the Triforce and her people and The Pale King his kingdom and people from opposing deities that parallel them, both out of a sense of duty and instinctual design both. How they both doomed their kingdoms by trying to do the right thing with arguably the worst methodology, Hylia with unintentionally spurring on the cycle of reincarnation and The Pale King by having to watch Hallownest fall to the Radiance's Infection.

Thinking about how they both created a plan hinging on sacrificing one to save the many, and how it doomed people they loved or might have come to love had things been different from the very start, because as we all know deities have a different view of reality and thus see things very differently from us and it's difficult to define or even assign morals to it, how both First and The Pure Vessel were deemed perfect for the task even after being 'tainted' by either love, hate, a sense of duty or all of the above (see: First resenting the people of Hylia for being wrongfully imprisoned and not seeing himself as worthy, and the original Crimson Loftwing agreeing until the end stretch, and the Pure Vessel's entire deal of not truly being hollow) and how the two of them were imprisoned in hopes of making that plan succeed for an incredibly long stretch of time, suffering in isolation and being absolutely miserable, but only managed to contain the evil for a time and end up dead (or extremely likely to be dead each time in PV's case) so a sucessor to their position would come and finish the job a long time later, even if it won't save the kingdom. How they both did it in the name of someone they loved, goddess/likely lover and father respectively.

How both Hylia and The Pale King could not have foreseen the outcome of loving/showing affection to their chosen, 'perfect' champion, and thus suffered until the bitter end as well, how they both resided upon spaces far from reality to hide in shame and guilt for their actions and could see into the future (Hylia likely being the Goddess of Time as well as a White Goddess, and the Pale King with his foresight), how they both had someone else carry on their plans and will even from beyond those spaces, vessels namely in Sun/Zelda and The Little Ghost/Knight, but even then that plan didn't fully succeeded and their kingdoms were doomed to suffer, how Hylia created the Sheikah and the Pale King his many Kingsmould, Wingsmould and the Dreamers, how Hornet and Impa both stand in opposition to challenge Sky/Link and The Little Ghost/The Knight as an echo of the pale deities last orders, their words haunting them to the end of the road.

How they both are portrayed as dead, likely from regret after their retreat from the know world.

O' higher beings, what did you see under your pale watch, that would require such sacrifice that would be for naught? What did you witness that would still bring ruin to your descendants and people, no matter your best efforts?

Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but we can likely draw parallels between Sky/Skyward Sword Link and The Knight, or even further down the line between Wild/BOTW Link and either the Pure Vessel or The Knight, in this essay I will-

Hylia fans, enjoyers, critics, slanderers, folks who like Linked Universe but are mine's, Legend's and Time's spirit animals in wanting to vibe check a goddess for what she did with them and First, an idea/sleep deprived headcanon for y'all. Just an idea that will be completely obliterated by Tears of the Kingdom but hey I can dream.

Hylia, but she purposefully uses the appearance of each of the Zelda's depending on who she's dealing with, but just a bit... Off, Lullaby, but her head moves like an owl's, too bird like in nature for it to look normal (alluding to her connection to the Loftwings), Dusk, but her lips don't move when she talks, her voice booms like thunder but is as soft as a breeze, Flora, whose words feel scorching like an inferno and sitting near a crackling fire at the same time, just a bit grating but you can't help but be comforted, wanting to get close, wanting to stay close. Artemis, but her eyes are blank, not even how the Light Spirits portrayed the Interlopers in Twilight Princess, straight up no iris or pupils, because 'eyes are the window to the soul' an deities wouldn't leave theirs, if they even have any, open to anyone to use, her looking at you makes it feel as if you have just been flayed open from neck to gut, your organs on display, a bone deep cut of too much knowing, does she know it? Knows your deepest secrets? Your deepest fears and insecurities? The things you would want no one to know? Will she execute you for them or will she accept you for a it?

Just saying, if y'all don't want to go full on monstrous (though if ya ask me monstrous Hylia is PEAK), uncanny valley is always a good idea as any, maybe have her wear a bird mask to 'hide' her identity so that it gets harder to tell, make it so that her voice and speech patterns are all of rh Zelda's melded together. Remember, Hylia's form in the manga was as close to a human as she could make it probably because she didn't want to scare First/The First Hero off (because ya know, deities are basically living concepts, they can have multiple forms and usually looking at their true ones is a bad move, hence why many of them shape shift in myth), Sun/Skyward Sword Zelda is her human vessel, but who's to say after so many years from there some things wouldn't start slipping through the cracks? It's in the subtleties, the very, very subtle differences that tell anyone the Zelda's aren't human, but the vessels or something much bigger than them, something which is always on the edge of time, waiting. Watching.

Also, if we go the Tears of the Kingdom theory route, or a ghost Chain in general, I also proposed Ghost Zelda's, all of them by Flora's side, but she could only really see or talk to them after she unlocked her powers and the differences between them and Hylia is very, very obvious once you start looking at it.

Plus, if we are possibly seeing the 10.000 years ago Zelda, then I propose we just leap and see them all after so long. Or that BOTW Link/Wild also can see the 10.000 years Catalyst Hero, or the rest of the Links and/or dives into their memories for maximum emotional damage, in this essay I will-

{|Goddess Hylia’s Loftwing|}

This loftwing is the first to exist, belonging to the Goddess herself. It’s noticeably bigger than the average loftwing due to the fact that Goddess Hylia was a Zonai (not confirmed, just an AU thing)
