A shaving horse I'm (re)building! I wanted to be able to collapse the whole thing so it's easy to store on my cramped balcony, so I decided on mortise and tenon legs that are easy to pop out.
The first set of legs failed so I bumped up to a piece of 2x3 pine that comfortably holds my weight and chiseled out larger mortises for them. The legs are unfinished but everything is holding for now.
I'll shape them into something nicer another day, right now i'm just happy I can actually use this thing!

Another afternoon chipping (hah) away at this project.
I decided that, as much as I liked the rough hewn look of the clamp "arms" (which were repurposed from yet another old project) I was more annoyed by how crooked they sat. So I cut a 2x4 in half for the new arms, found a height off the ground I liked, bored a hole for the dowel pivot, and through-bolted another scrap piece for the footplate.
I'll probably reinforce the arms around the pivot point, theres only 1/2" of wood on either side of the hole and I have a feeling that's likely to fail sooner rather than later.
It's annoying to backtrack and redirect progress to sort out issues mid-build, but i've learned it's even MORE annoying to have to fix broken equipment in the middle of a separate project.
Aside from that, everything sits flush and the arms pivot effortlessly; once I finish the clamp I can't wait to get to put it to work! Oh I also did some shaping and sanding on a wooden sabre I've been toying with. The arc is more pronounced than most models I've handled so it's even more forward heavy, and the simple grip feels good in the hand. It still feels like it could use more tweaking so I'm holding off on the lacquer finish.
