Jaime

Jaime is from the cast of Technicolor Nightmare, which is the name of the goth club he visits. He is a bit of an insomniac and kind of lazy, but he is easy to convince if you get him an ice slushy. He has a bit of self pity, and can come off whiny at times, but is generally in a pleasant mood. Jaime’s love interest is Kayla.

Jaime’s theme color is blue, and his favorite flavor is “blue”. His favorite music is industrial. He has a shaved head except for the very top of his head, where he keeps his hair extra long. It’s sometimes in one pony tail, sometimes in many small ponytails. He sometimes lets Dina experiment hairstyles on him in exchange for a slushy and a bag of sour candy.

Dana

Dana is the antagonist character of the technicolor nightmare story. Most of the characters from this story are a specific flavor of goth. Dana is closest to a trad goth. She is not happy when anyone else is having a good time and makes it her mission to ruin the moods of everyone at the goth club. She thinks being miserable is the only way to be a “true goth” and despises seeing other goths with a smile.

She idolizes Siouxsie and the Banshees, she even sometimes calls herself Christine, the strawberry girl. No one else enjoys this. She will pretend to have feelings for others just to manipulate them for her own gain.

Dana is named after Dana Scully from the x-files. Sometimes when I would call radio stations to request songs and I would tell them my name was Dana.

Chroma

Chroma is a mean bitch! Or at least that’s what she wants you to think. She would be the antagonist of the technicolor nightmare story, but she actually does care. The goth tsundere.

Chroma’s theme color is yellow. She loves to wear huge fur coats and smoke cigarettes from long stems. She loves to look luxurious, yet heroin-chic thin. She tends to gravitate towards deathrock and industrial metal for her music choices, but has been known to get down with ebm as well.

Chroma’s love interest is Damien and Alyce, but she would never tell you that.

Damien

Damien is the older brother of Dina, he is incredibly proud of her creativity and takes every opportunity he can to show off her creations. He is a regular at the Technicolor Nightmare club. He enjoys looking incredibly off-putting. He wants his look to embody the sound of his favorite music. He usually listens to industrial metal and power noise. He has a barcode tattooed to his forehead as well as a split tongue with piercings all over.

Despite his really scary exterior, he is very kind. He doesn’t open up to many people but when he does, he will do anything to support them and protect them. Maybe he’s a little tooooo over protective of his little sister and his crew of goths from the club. He has shamelessly admitted to anyone who will listen that he is “in love” with Hope/Violet. He puts her up on a pedestal….but lately he is confused by his feelings for Alyce.

Toki

Toki is really new to the goth scene. She would generally define herself as introverted but somehow still finds herself trying new things with new people. Toki is mild mannered, with a dash of dry humor. She hasn’t tried too many things, so she comes off sheltered and naïve.

Toki was introduced to the technicolor nightmare club by Kayla. Kayla roller skated into the record shop where Toki was shopping. Kayla noticed Toki staring at her and skated over to find that Toki had been browsing some of Kayla’s favorite music. This sparked Kayla to demand Toki come to the club. Toki now goes as often as possible. She is enjoying learning about all the different music styles and aesthetics. She is also learning a lot about herself. She just learned she’s attracted to girls, too. Toki’s love interest is Kayla…. but she is panicking about it.

This is one of my oldest characters. I started using Toki as a character before I even drew her. Toki’s very first original form was….a self-insert sona I created to RP in yahoo groups for Gundam Wing. I started using her for other self-insert fan OC designs. I eventually wanted Toki to be more of her own thing. She existed long long before I thought up the technicolor nightmare, but she was already themed green so I put her there. I actually used to use her so often my close friend IRL would call me Toki. In my mind Toki was a nickname for Tomoko (moko’s full name?).

Violet/Hope

This is an alternate version of Hope, who is also known as Violet in this world. She is part of the Technicolor Nightmare story. Her personality is still pretty much the same. Rather timid, meekly positive. Her favorite music is ethereal goth and dark ambient. She wears corsets and velvet, with lots of black lace. You could define her as romantigoth.

Violet came to the goth club alone a few times. Damien sees her alone, and approached her on one of her visits. She was so shy and nervous about interacting with a new person that she had a hard time even saying her name to Damien. He ended up giving her the nickname of Violet because of the colours of her corset and hair. Getting a nickname and being introduced to the other goth kids made her really happy. Violet claims Damien is her love interest, but that is mostly a convenient answer. She feels like she owes something to him, maybe in the form of affection.

All of the kids in the technicolor nightmare story are based on colours. I designed the purple character wayyy before I designed Hope. When I developed Hope I realized I was drawing her in purple a lot, and she looked very similar to the purple character I was working on. I ended up sort of melding them together. Currently the angel form and this goth form are unrelated.
