Oh boy. I have been eager to get to this one. Like, y’all have no idea. This was a suggestion by groundhog0202b and I got excited to do it.
And yes, they will be recurring characters in the upcoming drabbles. Who are they? You will have to read and find out!
Reminder that you can suggest things you wanna see!
Hajime was pleased as he felt around on his ribs. The dark splotches had disappeared and the pain was non existent. He had healed completely.
Much to everyone’s delight and relief. Especially Nagito, who expressed this by immediately picking him up and nuzzling once he was told the news. “Ahhhh, this feels so wonderful to do again! I bet you missed this, too. Don’t you worry! We shall continue for a while!”
Hajime rolled his eyes but didn’t protest or push against the actions. He knew that the naga had been holding back throughout his recovery. He was extremely gentle with all his movements, treating Hajime as if he was the most delicate object. He abstained from long nuzzling sessions the entire time, which the human knew took an incredible amount of self restraint.
And now he was going full force, nuzzling the smaller man like it was his life’s mission. And it kept going until the naga was satisfied. “Perfect! You are all good to go. Now let’s head off!” The giant body turned and headed to the forest, bringing along Hajime for the ride. Not that he minded. He too was eager to get back to sightseeing in their forest.
Nagito kept him cupped in his hands as he maneuvered through the trees. A stable platform that the human trusted to keep him safe from falling. It was one of his personal favorite ways to travel now. Though he would always claim the fluffy white hair as the perfect place.
But putting that aside, Hajime gazed around. The colors of the leaves had drastically changed during his weeks of recovery. He always did love the colors autumn brought around. And the chill in the air was kept at bay from the warmth of the hands around him. It was wonderful.
Nagito began rambling in his excitement, pointing out various things as they passed by. Hajime happily listened and responded, glad to see the naga being so energetic. A stark contrast to the worry and fretting from the previous weeks. It was relieving.
It continued for the hour they traveled, neither one getting tired of each other’s company. Eventually, the human recognized the area. “Oh wait. Are we going to your cave? Haven’t been there in a while.”
This delighted the naga. “Yes! I’m so glad you could tell! I haven’t come back in a few days. I want to make sure everything is still fine.”
“Gotcha. But I’m sure the bears are fine. And whatever else you have in there. How large is that cave, anyways? I don’t think I’ve been all the way to the back.”
“Oh, it is very large. I’m sure multiple nagas could comfortably live in there. Maybe we can go to the end today! Is that fine with you?” Nagito lifted him up to better see his reaction.
Hajime nodded, reaching forward to pet the face in front of him. “Yeah, I like that idea. Your shawl will help with the cave’s coldness, I’m sure.”
Nagito giggled. “Yes. It is nice to have. I feel all warm outside and inside.”
The naga wore his gift constantly. But he took excellent care of it, the lilac fabric never appearing dirty or worn. And it was clear that he loved every fiber of it. It was also very cute on him, in Hajime’s opinion.
And he was extra glad that he had given him it as they entered the cave. It was certainly not warm and Hajime knew that snakes didn’t do well in the cold. But Nagito appeared to be doing just fine.
He found himself placed down on the stone floor, near the entrance where several plants were growing. “Ah, just as I feared. It does appear that some creatures have entered while I was away. Thankfully the bears are too high up for anything to touch them. But they certainly made a mess.”
Various bits of dead plants and fur were on the ground. Clearly some animals had made themselves comfortable here. Much to Nagito’s annoyance.
“I bring my beloved Hajime to my cave for the first time in so long and this is how it looks. Of course. Why wouldn’t it not be a total mess? Just perfect,” Nagito began muttering to himself, grabbing a large wad of moss and dipping it into the spring water. “Am I the only one in these woods that has a sense of neatness? All the animals here are hopeless. Pathetic. Can’t even be bothered to pick up after themselves. They should be ashamed.”
Hajime snorted at this. Hearing the naga go on a rant was something he didn’t know he needed to witness. It was too amusing. He collected himself and raised his voice enough to be heard. “I’ll stand by the entrance while you clean. Don’t get too stressed over details, alright?”
An ear twitch indicated that his words had been heard. But continued grumbling was all that was said. Hajime smiled and shrugged his shoulders, heading to the cave’s mouth. He looked around and took a deep breath. The air was clean and fresh. Truly a treasure that the world was gracious to offer.
He took notice of a few trees off to the side, several full red apples hanging off the branches. They looked really good. So he thought it wouldn’t hurt if he went over and grabbed one.
With that thought in mind, he began walking over to the tree.
“Halt. Who dares to enter and witness my presence?”
That… was unexpected. A deep voice was audible from somewhere in the trees. He paused where he stood, rotating slowly towards the voice’s direction.
“Who’s there? I’ll have you know you are on my private land. So I have every right to be here. Come out and explain yourself,” he demanded in a firm tone.
“Ah, so you are this land’s possessor?” A man emerged from the trees, black and gray hair, pale skin, and a long purple scarf dangling over his shoulders. “What do you plan to do with this land? To the animal population?”
“Huh?” Hajime was taken aback. He felt as if he was the one being interrogated. As if he needed to prove his innocence to this stranger. “Nothing. I want to keep these woods as is. I promised someone I would do everything I could to protect it.” He crossed his arms. “Now why and how are you here?”
The man struck a dramatic pose. “I am Gundham Tanaka! The Supreme Overlord of Ice! Master of the Dark Arts! Tremble before my might, mortal!”
Hajime just raised an eyebrow. “Come again? You are what now?”
That seemed to take some of the wind out of the stranger’s sails, as he appeared to deflate from the lack of reaction. “You appear to be immune to my malicious aura. You are stronger than you appear.”
Hajime took some steps towards him. “Listen, I get the feeling that you mean no harm. But you really do need to tell me what you are doing here.”
Gundham stood straight, piercing eyes watching his every movement. “I would suggest you keep your distance, foolish mortal. My Lady requires much space in order to not be tainted.”
“Your… Lady?” Hajime asked. It was then that he noticed movement from behind the man. Lots of movement. The type of movement he recognized. “Wait… is she…?”
The answer was revealed with the movement’s creator revealing herself. Just as he thought, it was a naga. Her scales were blue in color with cream belly scales. She was wearing what looked like a light blue ruffled crop top, not a speck of dirt visible on it. Her blond hair draped far down her back, partially held in place by a silver tiara on her head. And her stormy gray eyes were locked onto him.
“Ah, so you are the one Gundham was speaking to. Apologies for intruding. We were simply enamored by this place. These woods are certainly amazing,” she said, voice smooth and calm.
“I… I guess,” the brunette stammered, a bit unsure of how exactly to go about this. He didn’t want to call for help, as it might antagonize the two in front of them. They seemed amicable enough, so perhaps he could discuss his way through this.
But it quickly became far more difficult to remain calm as the blue naga leaned forward, practically hovering over him. “You are a strange one. Many have run in fear at the sight of my kind. But here you stand.” Her tongue flicked out a few times, eyes widening. “Wait… you have the scent of…”
“GET AWAY FROM HIM!!!”
The sudden shriek startled them all, the blue naga jolting away from Hajime. The brunette then found himself grabbed and lifted off the ground in a dizzying rush. He was pressed against lilac fabric, pressure around his body from the grip surrounding him. And he could both hear and feel the threatening hissing.
“I will not allow for my Hajime to be harmed by another one of my kind. Don’t even think about trying anything. I will defend him with my life,” Nagito stated with anger. His green eyes glared at the two, fangs in full view.
The two looked incredibly startled. Speechless for some time. But the naga recovered first. “Oh, please forgive us! We didn’t realize these were your woods! And I didn’t intend to do anything to your human companion. But I realize that it appeared quite horrible from your perspective. My sincerest apologies.”
The hissing stopped, Nagito now appearing confused. “You… are apologizing?”
The female naga nodded. “Of course! It was very rude of me. I do hope I can make it up to you somehow. Please know that I have no intention of causing distress. We were simply looking for a place to live. Had I known these woods were yours, I would have not entered. My… sense of smell isn’t the greatest. It only registers when I am close by a creature.”
Hajime wiggled enough to get Nagito’s attention. “We had been talking when you weren’t here. They didn’t do anything to me. I think we are okay.”
Nagito took a few deep breaths to calm himself. His posture became less threatening and more relaxed. “Okay. Hajime has vouched for you so I’ll listen. You were passing through? Nagas only travel when searching for a place to settle. Did you lose your previous home?”
The stormy gray eyes became clouded. “Yes. Despite Gundham’s best efforts, my forest was destroyed to build a new human factory. I wasn’t sure what to do when that happened. But he encourage me to search for a new home. A place that could be better protected and maintained. He was so kind as to accompany me. I am blessed with such company.”
The man on the ground grabbed his scarf and used it to hide his blushing cheeks. “M-my Lady! You have not been blessed! My presence is a curse! The most horrific of curses! Please remember that for future interactions.”
The previous low mood was quickly eradicated, as the blue naga smiled fondly at him. “Ah, yes! My apologies. I shall correct my statement!” She turned back to Nagito. “As he said, he is a curse!”
Hajime cracked a smile. This was really entertaining. “By the way, what’s your name?” he called out, wanting to satisfy his curiosity.
She perked up at that, making a polite bow. “My name is Sonia. A pleasure to meet you both.”
Nagito nodded with a happy expression. “I’m Nagito and this is Hajime.” He raised one of his hands to gesture towards her head. “That’s a really pretty accessory. Where did you get it?”
Sonia clapped her hands in delight. “Gundham had it made for me! Isn’t it pretty!? I love it so much! And your shawl looks wonderful! So pretty and warm! Did Hajime make it for you?”
That just elated the green naga even more. “Yes! It’s my prized possession. Oh! Want to see my other things? My cave is right over here!”
“I would be honored! Thank you so much!” she replied, slithering closer to him. “Please lead the way.”
Hajime was lowered and placed down next to the other human. “I’ll be back soon. I just want to show her around,” Nagito explained, moving away and with excitement towards the cave entrance with the other naga.
The humans watched them go, observing until the last bit of tail vanished from sight. “Well, that happened,” the brunette muttered to himself.
“Indeed,” Gundham replied, having heard this. “I am aware that many of the naga species are not as… drawn towards companionship. But it appears she has found another who is like-minded. This bodes well.”
“Yeah,” Hajime agreed. “Sonia mentioned looking for a new home. And I anticipate that Nagito will allow her to stay, seeing as they are getting along very fast and easily.”
“That would be beneficial. She deserves only the finest of locations. And this one is truly spectacular. A fine job you have done, mortal!” Gundham declared loudly.
Hazel eyes were rolled before he thought of something else. “So where will you go? Will you try and stay with her here in the woods?”
Gundham looked pleased with the question. “I am so glad you brought up the subject! I shall request to make myself a residence here should the emerald one allow us sanctuary. But do not fret! For I shall take up the financial responsibility! I can compensate you for all that is required. Be it supplies or something akin to leasing the section of land I choose to inhabit. Now then, does that sound like a fair and reasonable bargain?”
Hajime crossed his arms and thought about it. There really wasn’t much reason for him to refuse. He got the impression that Gundham was just as, if not more, firm on keeping the forest as natural as possible. So he wouldn’t cause any issues in that regard. And the forest was enormous. If he took up residence in the woods to be with Sonia, it wouldn't interfere with his privacy and work. The offer to compensate was also nice, he wouldn’t deny. “If Nagito says yes, then I see no problem with allowing you to live in the forest. Are you sure you would be fine out here?”
Gundham laughed boldly. “You underestimate my survival skills. I shall flourish here!”
“Alright. I’ll believe you. Just… make sure to let me know if there’s an emergency, okay? Check in every once and a while,” he requested.
“I suppose I can do that. Then we have a deal. Shake my hand, mortal. So that this agreement shall be forged onto our souls!” Gundham said as he stuck his hand out towards the other human.
Hajime chuckled as he clasped the other’s hand in his. “Here’s to a hopefully beneficial new relationship. For all of us.”

Smol! Smol!! Smol!!!
You know, I genuinely can’t decide if I like big snek or small snek better than the other. They are both just so good.
Sapphire really got lots of good ideas. Thank ya for all the great suggestions!
There were so many benefits to living with a human. So many. In fact, Nagito couldn’t fathom going back to live in the wild now that he had experienced these benefits.
And it was made all the more better with the human himself. He was just simply perfect. There was no other way to describe him. So caring. So devoted. So attentive.
And at the current moment, so warm.
It was the beginning of the winter season and it was starting to get colder. So naturally, he sought out sources of warmth. His favorite being under the human’s shirt when he was laying down. The most ideal place, really. And that’s where he placed himself overnight while Hajime had been sleeping. He knew that the human wouldn’t move in his sleep. So all he had to do was climb up the nightstand and slither onto the pillow nearby. Then, he could curl up anywhere he wanted on the human.
Hajime hadn’t stirred when he did this. So he was able to fall asleep quite fast once in position. He was only roused when the blinding morning light suddenly appeared due to the shirt collar being lifted.
“Again? You know you have a heat lamp,” Hajime said with slight exasperation. He covered his yawn with the back of his other hand, staring at the naga on him.
Nagito, in response, sleepily smiled. “It’s getting colder. You’re warm. Makes sense.” He then laid his head back down, intending to go back to sleep.
Sadly, his attempt was unsuccessful. “Sorry, Nagi. I have to get up now. I have a test for a class this morning.” A hand reached in and gently pinched the area where skin met scales. He felt himself be lifted and transported out into the colder air.
“Noooooo… my warm spot,” he whined, hanging limp as he was carried away. He must have looked sad enough to warrant Hajime placing him on his neck. Instinctually, he coiled around the source of warmth, squeezing tight to ensure he couldn’t be removed easily.
“Again, I’m sorry. I wish we could stay in bed. But I do have to leave soon. You can stay there while I get ready. Okay?” Hajime asked, rubbing his hair with a pointer finger.
Nagito didn’t verbally reply, too sleepy to do so. He began dozing off, eyes closing and relaxing. Hajime must have understood what was happening because he didn’t ask again. The naga could feel Hajime begin his morning tasks. Changing clothes, preparing and consuming food, and gathering his required materials. Too soon, it was time for the human to leave.
“Come on, Nagito. Let’s put you back under your lamp,” he said as his hands reached for the green tail.
But Nagito tightened in response. “No. I’ll stay with you. You’re warmer.”
Hajime sighed. “I know. But I have to go to class. This test is really important.”
“Take me with you! I’ll be your good luck charm!” the naga cried out, trying his hardest to be convincing. “I won’t move or speak! I won’t be distracting! Please?”
He deployed his puppy dog eyes, looking as cute as he could possibly be. He didn’t do this very often, as he knew how effective it was on the human. He was well aware of Hajime’s level of immunity to this.
Which was pretty much zero.
“Fine. If you promise to not make any noise during class, you can come with. I’ll wear a scarf to cover you. Happy?”
Nagito squealed and hugged the hand near him. “Thank you! I’ll be completely silent for you. And with me there, you will have no trouble on this test! I shall give you all my luck!”
The other hand stroked his tail gently. “If you say so. I could really use it right now.” The hands pulled away, much to Nagito’s disappointment. They had busied themselves with grabbing the thick scarf and carefully winding it around the human’s neck. Soon, the naga was snuggly wrapped up in a cozy enclosed space. “You comfortable? Can you stay like this for the whole time?”
Nagito tightened his coil a tiny bit. “It’s perfect. So warm. Cozy…” He began trailing off as the drowsiness returned. He barely heard the human reply, but the words didn’t register. He was already dozing again.
He was grateful that Hajime was extremely smooth in his walking, as he was not jostled at all when they were moving. The miniscule chill he could feel from the outdoors was soon replaced with the heating from the building. He felt Hajime sigh in relief from the temperature change. But the scarf remained on. Most likely to not draw attention to him and to keep him warm. He again thanked his lucky stars for the existence of this human. No one else would ever begin to compare.
Hajime sat down somewhere and briefly touched the snake tail underneath the scarf. He was checking in on his passenger, it seemed. Nagito squeezed in response, knowing that Hajime liked it when he did this. It apparently was comforting and soothing, helping to keep him grounded and calm.
That gave him an idea just then. Maybe he would do it periodically while Hajime was taking his test! He could be helpful!
And so he did. While relaxing under the scarf, he would keep up his occasional squeezes throughout the next hour. Whenever he felt the human starting to tense or stress, his squeeze would calm him right back down. It made the naga feel nice and warm inside. He was helping and doing something good. Making a difference in this stressful time.
The hour passed. Soon, Hajime was putting his pen down and sighing in relief. “It’s over. All done,” he muttered, standing up to turn his paper in.
“Good job,” Nagito told him, leaning his human half against the larger creature’s neck. “How are you feeling about it?”
“Better than I originally thought. And it’s thanks to you. I need to bring you with me to all my tests now,” he said, the smirk very evident in his voice.
Nagito felt elation. “Oh, yes! I would love to accompany you during such stressful times! Please allow me to assist!” he exclaimed.
“Not exactly what I thought you would say… but yeah. You can come with me when I have another test.” Hajime began walking again, out of the classroom and into the rest of the building. “Here, you can peek out now,” the brunette said as he used a finger to pull down a bit of the scarf.
Nagito had to blink a few times to adjust to the light. But he was so glad when he did. The building they were in was so different from Hajime’s apartment. A variety of display cases with different plant and animal species in them. Giant models of what Hajime had said were DNA strands. And lots of students walking around.
“This is so amazing! I’ve never seen anything like this!” Nagito remarked, wonder in his tone.
“There’s a chair over there. Want me to sit so you can look a little more?” Hajime asked, keeping his voice low to not attract attention.
Nagito nodded rapidly. So to the chair they went, Hajime sitting down and unwrapping the scarf from around his neck. He placed it and the naga down in his lap. From here, they were able to see beautiful murals of nature painted on the wall. The naga loved it all.
After some time, he still was in awe. Everything was still so amazing. He wanted to stay here for a little longer if he could.
That was what he told Hajime when asked. “Gotcha. We can stay here for a little longer. I might go grab a snack from the vending machine. I can leave you with my stuff so you can continue looking. I won’t take too long.”
Nagito nodded. “Okay! I’ll watch over your things!”
Hajime nodded back, carefully lifting the scarf and naga pile and placing them down on his chair along with his bag. “I’ll be right back. I’ll just be around the corner. Yell if you need anything.”
With a wave, he disappeared to grab his snack. Nagito waved back, even after he lost sight of him. But his attention swiftly turned back to the sights around him. It really was so fascinating. So many types of creatures that he had never seen before, and so many interesting plants. Life really was diverse. Such variety. And this was only a tiny fraction of what the world had to offer. Maybe he could convince Hajime to take him to a zoo sometime.
His attention had been so thoroughly stolen by these thoughts and sights. So much so that he failed to sense the large mass approaching him.
He suddenly felt something pinch his body. But he instantly knew it wasn’t Hajime. His arms were pinned to his ribs, almost painfully. He was lifted up and out of the scarf, up towards an unfamiliar face.
“A naga! Here in the biology building! How peculiar!”
Nagito instantly began wiggling as best he could. But his attempts were not very successful. Gravity was pulling at his tail like several weights and the grip he was in prevented him from being able to lean over enough to bite. He was trapped.
“Release me!” he shouted, glaring at the one holding him. “Put me down!”
But his shouts went unheard. Large digits began poking and prodding him, not gentle whatsoever. “Nagas are so rarely seen. They are really interesting creatures. I am so fortunate to have found this specimen.” The face lit up, as he got an idea. “The lab is still open. I can go run some tests on it. I think there are some animal carriers there too.”
That made Nagito’s blood turn to ice. Was this human… planning to experiment on him? So many terrible mental images ran through his head, fear replacing his previous anger. He was defenseless when pinned like this. He couldn’t fight back. His words were useless to this human. He couldn’t do anything.
Grinning, the human turned to begin heading to his intended location. But his progress was halted by another human.
A very angry Hajime.
“What are you doing with him?” he demanded in an icy tone. In a single quick movement, his own hand grabbed onto the other’s wrist. “Listen very carefully. You are going to release him and give him to me. And I will not take no for an answer. Understand?”
Uttering only a single tiny squeak of fear, the other human did as Hajime said. The fingers pinching his arms together released and let him fall onto Hajime’s outstretched hand. He instantly curled his tail around the wrist, hugging the digits under him. He was safe again. In the hands of one he knew he could trust.
“Nagito? Are you hurt?” Hajime asked, lifting his hand up to his eyes to better see him. He met the concerned hazel eyes and shook his head. Thankfully, he was completely fine and unharmed. He made it in time.
“I… I didn’t realize it was yours. I apologize. Where did you get it? I would love to study one for a project in biology,” the other human asked, curiosity overpowering the fear for just a few moments.
Only those few moments, as Hajime turned to glare at him again. “First of all, Nagito is a ‘he’, not an ‘it’. He has thoughts and feelings like us. He’s incredibly intelligent and can fully comprehend all we are saying. And second, I didn’t ‘get’ him from anywhere. We are living together as roommates. As equals. So change your thinking on the naga species. And respect them as you would another human.” He let go of the other’s hand, turning to gather his bag and scarf. Only to see several students around them staring. “Uh… I didn’t expect an audience for this.”
Nagito, having regained all of his composure, smiled and raised himself to lay against the human cheek. “They are simply gazing in wonder at your heroic deeds. How you are my savior. Don’t worry, for I am doing it as well.”
He smirked as he could see and feel the embarrassed flush rising on the skin in front of him. “Nagito! What did we discuss about this kind of thing?” he almost hissed.
But the naga simply laughed in response. “Ah, yes. My apologies. It slipped my mind.”
“You and I both know that’s untrue,” the brunette muttered as he hurriedly gathered his things, ready to leave.
But he was stopped before he could go. The student stood before them, but with a different expression from before. “Wait. I wanted to apologize. I was so caught up in excitement that I failed to recognize what I was doing. I’m so sorry. I will be more careful from now on.”
Nagito made eye contact with the human, staring hard into the large eyes. “Yes, you should be careful if you ever come across one of my kind. Not all of us have a protector.” He returned his attention back to Hajime, smiling and expression soft. “Shall we go home now? We have had quite a day, wouldn’t you agree?”
The brunette couldn’t help but smile back. “Correct you are. Let’s go relax for the rest of the day.”
Placing the naga back on his neck, he wound the scarf back around him and set off, ignoring the crowd that was watching him leave. Nagito paid no mind to them either, too pleased with his current location.
The warmth and the fading adrenaline started making him drowsy again. Squeezing one final time in appreciation, he soon fell asleep. Looking forward to their future snuggle session.

A suggestion from Kirbytin249!
It’s the season for the snow! Or at the very least, the chilling cold. Be sure to bundle up in warm clothes and lots of blankets!
Happy Holidays to everyone. Hope your final days of this year are good and nice.
My gift to you all is more content! I hope that is a good enough present!
Hajime found himself immensely thankful that he and Chiaki had made the shawl when they did. It was definitely getting colder. To the point where Hajime had to bundle up in multiple layers to stay warm when he was outside.
He wondered about Nagito and how he was doing often. The naga had assured him that his larger size meant his body heat could keep him from freezing. Though the shawl did help immensely. He felt more comfortable and warm than all of the other winters he had lived through. Something he thanked him endlessly for.
But even so, Nagito had certainly been displaying lower levels of energy and enthusiasm. He constantly had this appearance of being tired and groggy. Sonia was very much the same way, sluggish and slow to move.
But before he could voice his concerns, Gundham had beat him to it. “They are more than fine. You do not need to concern yourself. This is normal for their species. And snakes in general,” he told the brunette as they sat in the log cabin that Gundham had constructed in the woods near the naga’s cave. He had ordered all the supplies to Hajime’s home and built it himself. With help from the nagas and Hajime of course. The giant creatures were more than happy to assist in the heavy lifting, as it was a fascinating activity to do. And as a result, the four managed to bond a lot more. So all were on good terms. Hence why Hajime was allowed into Gundham’s abode.
“You sure? I’ve only known Nagito since the spring, so I’ve never seen him during the winter,” he admitted.
Gundham nodded confidently. “Yes. Despite yours being a green tree viper and my lady being a blue racer, they both go through brumation. It is similar to hibernation. They don’t go to sleep fully, but they move slower and don’t eat to conserve energy. This is perfectly natural and normal for them. So do dispel any concerns.”
“I… I’ll try. But I don’t think I will ever stop fully worrying,” Hajime said with a small smile.
Gundham gave one in return. “Fear not. You are not alone in that. Even I get feelings of unease occasionally, even when I have lived through several winters with my lady.”
“That… actually did help a bit,” the brunette told him. He stood up with a little more confidence. “Okay. I’ll do my best. I think I’m going to go visit them for a bit.”
“I shall join you,” Gundham responded as he too stood up. “I must make sure her needs are fully attended to.”
Grinning, Hajime nodded and walked with the other man to the cave entrance, entering with the aid of a lantern. “Nagito? Sonia? Are you all good?” he called out, hearing his voice echo into the darkness.
It took a few seconds, but a response did come. “Haji…me? Yeah… we are… just fine…” Nagito softly said, voice heavy with sleep.
Now that he knew that there was no reason to worry for this behavior, Hajime found himself grinning more with fondness. The naga was always cute when he was sleepy. He loved every instance that happened. And he was sure Gundham was the same, if the almost invisible flush was anything to go off of.
They finally came upon the two, laying near each other with parts of their tail tips intertwined. They were watching them approach with half lidded eyes, smiling lazily. “Welcome. Please make… yourself comfortable,” Sonia told them, yawning right after.
“Feel free to… sit where… ever you want,” Nagito added before snuggling more into his shawl. Again, Hajime thought it was adorable when he did that. It aided in his destination over to the naga’s head, stroking the large cheek.
“Hey Nagi. You sleepy?” He pet the skin and used his other arm to do the same with the white hair. A brief glance over revealed Gundham doing the same for Sonia. The man always had a very soft expression when he tended to the blue naga. It was nice to see. But he didn’t look for long, soon turning back to his naga.
“Mmmm. Cold makes us… tired. Hopefully it… won’t be too bad. Especially… with the snowstorm coming.”
That was not what he expected. “Snowstorm? What do you mean snowstorm?” he asked.
“Oh… you didn’t know? There’s… a snowstorm about… to happen. A big one… by the smell…” Nagito answered, trying his best to look at the human. “You… didn’t see that on… your phone? Sorry. Should have… mentioned it earlier.”
Hajime was quick to pet the naga more. “No, no. Don’t apologize. Thank you for telling me. Let me go tell Gundham real fast. Be right back.” He rubbed his cheek against the other’s, earning himself a happy hum. He sadly backed off, fighting the urge to instantly return to go over to the other human. “Hey, Nagito just informed me that it’s apparently going to storm real bad. A snowstorm to be exact. What should we do? It will take hours to get back to my house on foot. And I don’t think the nagas have enough energy to help us get home right now.”
Gundham looked down at the cave floor with a concentrated look. “Our options are limited. It is either we stay here in the cave or take refuge in my abode.”
Hajime brought a finger to his chin as he thought. “Your home has food and blankets. It’s probably better if we go there. We can check back in here if we are able to once we get supplies.”
“Sound reasoning. Very well. Let us acquire the desired provisions!” Gundham announced loudly after giving one final cheek pat to Sonia. He turned and began the trek to the cave entrance, lantern light beginning to get fainter the farther he went.
Hajime had to rush over to give his own final pat to Nagito with the promise of returning. Then he sprinted as fast as he dared to catch up with the man holding the lantern. “You… could have waited,” Hajime complained as he tried to regain his breath.
Gundham only laughed boisterously. “Too slow, my mortal friend! You must be faster if you hope to keep up with myself! Only the most swift and noble of creatures can even think of matching my-”
The boast was cut off as the two came upon an unexpected sight. Just as Nagito had said, it was definitely a snowstorm. And a very powerful one, as it had already created a wall of snow in front of the cave’s entrance. It was too sheer to even think of climbing. They were snowed in.
“Well, I guess nature decided what we are doing,” Hajime muttered. He sighed heavily, facing the way they had just come from. “Wish I had known that before killing my legs to reach you. Now let’s go back.”
“Oh. Of course.” Gundham followed behind, a little taken off guard by their situation. Guess this was something he had never encountered before. But Hajime could say the same. And he definitely had never imagined he would be in this situation.
They made their way back to the larger creatures, who both hazily watched them approach. “You… are back. Did… something happen?” Sonia asked.
Hajime nodded. “Yeah. There’s a wall of snow blocking the entrance. We won’t be able to get through without you guys. But you are both out of energy. So we will stick by you for the night.”
“Oh… I see. Well… please make… yourselves comfortable,” the female naga sleepily offered before closing her eyes again. Gundham sat by her, caressing her cheek with that fond look again.
Hajime decided to do the same with his, sitting next to Nagito’s neck and leaning against it. It was much warmer in this space. And the naga would be able to feel where the human was. A beneficial position for them both.
“Are you… comfy?” Nagito still asked, tilting his head to better encompass his companion.
The brunette smiled as he relaxed more. “It’s perfect. You are extremely warm.”
“I’m… glad.” One of the large hands rose slowly and moved over to him, tucking the fabric of the shawl around him like a blanket. “There. Now… we can both… enjoy it.”
Hajime pet the digits, signaling his agreement. The two settled down more, both closing their eyes. The chill was not able to get them this far into the cave. They were all safe and sound for the night. And so, everyone easily dozed off, comforted by the company they kept.

A suggestion from Clover.
It was to happen eventually, Hajime. At some point this was bound to happen.
Aka, Nagi and Sonia got the munchies.
I personally find the method snakes use to eat fascinating. But I do understand that it can look quite horrifying to those who aren’t as fond of snakes. Now, take that mental image and increase it in size. Yeah, that’s quite a sight.
Enjoy reading about it!!! Kinda.
It was finally warming back up. The weather was no longer biting and frigid. And that meant several things for Hajime.
First, he didn’t have to wear so many layers whenever he went outside.
Second, Gundham could go back to his home in the woods. He had come to stay in Hajime’s house when the weather got too cold for his home to handle. Not that he was a bad housemate. But he knew the eccentric man wanted to return.
Third, the nagas would be more active.
That had definitely been the hardest one for both him and Gundham. When it got extremely cold, the nagas had to hole themselves up in their cave and simply sleep through it. So they weren’t able to visit practically at all. It was lonesome for a few weeks, as Hajime had gotten used to the constant company. But he knew this was for the best. Nagito had to follow his natural instincts and it was good that they had some time apart every now and again. It would make their future time together all the more special.
So when he saw the weather forecast predicting warm weather the next day, he excitedly informed his temporary housemate. “I’m sure that they will want to come visit as soon as possible. They probably missed us a lot.”
“Indeed. I anticipate that outcome as well. Perhaps we could venture in and meet them part way. Not too far from your residence in case the weather takes a turn for the worse,” Gundham suggested, glancing out the window at the sunset.
To which Hajime was in complete agreement. So needless to say, it was difficult for him to sleep that night. He was far too excited about the prospect of seeing his naga again. And he was certain that Nagito was the same, out there in the woods.
But somehow, he managed to get some sleep and woke up without issues the next morning. He had to force himself to go at his normal pace, getting dressed and making breakfast. Gundham didn’t appear to be as impatient or antsy, probably because he had done this multiple times already in the past. But he did exhibit heightened levels of energy when they left the house. So he wasn’t completely immune to the excitement.
Soon, the two were heading off into the vast forest, bags of snacks and supplies just in case.
Hajime knew of a place that Nagito was fond of, not too far away. Though for what reason, he wasn’t entirely sure. He just knew it was a popular grazing area for the deer population. And as a bonus, it wasn’t too far away from his home. Just a thirty minute walk.
So it didn’t take them too long or too much effort to reach it. All they had to do was walk around the large pile of boulders and then they would be there.
Gundham stopped briefly, a concentrating expression overtaking his previous relaxed one. “There’s movement. It sounds like scales scraping against stone. They do appear to be present already. Though…”
Hajime didn’t register the concern lacing his tone in the final word. He was too happy to see his naga. “Well, let’s not keep them waiting! Let’s go see them!”
“Wait! Mortal, you may want to reconsider,” Gundham frantically tried to tell him. But Hajime didn’t listen, rounding the boulders with pep in his step.
“Hey, Nagito and Sonia. We are-”
His words were immediately silenced as he took in the sight before him. The nagas were there, all right. And they were quite busy as well. Nagito had his fangs sunk in a large stag, eyes wild and almost feral looking. Sonia’s eyes were similar, though she had another deer locked in her coils. And both of their mouth slits were wide, displaying exactly how far their jaws could extend.
Hajime stopped in his tracks. He had forgotten that they hadn’t eaten during their brumation. They must be famished. But understanding that didn’t diminish the intensity of the sight. Especially when those eyes locked onto him.
Nagito lifted his face away from his prey, fangs sliding out of the deer. “Hajime? You’re here?”
The brunette swiftly turned around, walking back to the boulders. “Sorry for interrupting. We will just hang out behind here until you’re done.”
“Oh… okay,” Nagito said, a little uncertain. But neither of the nagas attempted to stop him, so he guessed they understood.
He returned to where Gundham was standing, the man having a knowing look. “They were subduing their prey, correct?”
“Yeah. With their mouths wide open,” Hajime confirmed as he sat down against the boulder. “It just looks so… strange to see a human like jaw open that far. I don’t think I’ll get used to it any time soon.”
“One can understand such thinking. Nature truly does provide interesting sights.” Gundham sat down on a nearby rock. “I take it that we are to wait here until their feeding has concluded?”
He rested his head back against the stone behind him. “Yes. However long that will be.”
And so the two of them waited. It was decently warm and the forest was filled with its natural song. Neither were bored as they sat there, enjoying their surroundings.
Eventually, the two giant creatures shyly peeked around the boulder pile. Both had managed to close their mouth slits to appear as they normally did. “Ummm… we are done. If you… want to come out to the clearing, you can.”
Hajime didn’t like how nervous Nagito sounded. So he made sure to confidently stand up and walk over to him. “Did you get enough? You must have been starving.”
Nagito looked so relieved by this. And he gleefully picked him up when he got close enough, hugging him to his cheek. “I’m all good now. Especially now that you are here! I missed you so very much. Every thought I had was about you.” And then the nuzzles began. “Now, time to scent you once more! I know you missed this!”
“Oh, come on! You couldn’t wait for five minutes?” Hajime protested, though his words didn’t carry any serious tone. He was vaguely able to hear Sonia and Gundham conversing, so he assumed they were in a very similar situation. And a glance over confirmed it. Gundham’s face was beet red as the blue naga nuzzled him, too. But his attention shifted fast back to the green naga, who had switched cheeks to nuzzle with.
“You are simply asking for the impossible, my beloved. How could I possibly wait any longer to shower you in affection and attention!? Oh, I do hope you weren’t too lonely without me. It must be so difficult for your kind, staying awake and active throughout the cold months. I can’t imagine!” The white locks danced in the air with all the movement their owner was doing. A sure sign of his happiness.
“It wasn’t… easy,” Hajime managed to say in between nuzzles. “So… since you already… had lunch, how about we… go back to the house for a little? You guys can… sunbathe while we eat.”
The movement paused as Nagito thought about it. “I am definitely not opposed. Sonia? Do you want to go to Hajime’s house?”
They looked over to the other couple. Gundham’s hair was all over the place, the flush still very much present. The female naga looked completely normal, not a blond hair out of place. “Why, I would love to! Thank you for your invitation! Please lead the way!”
Nagito nodded and raised his hands to deposit his human onto his hair. “Here you are! Now your ride will be comfy!”
The second he was placed there, Hajime practically melted. It was one of his most favorite places. So comfortable and soft, and it meant he was near to his naga. All around, it was simply the best. He grabbed a hold of a lock and laid down. “I’m good to go. Can you just grab my bag by the rocks and carry it for me?”
“Absolutely!” Nagito chirped, moving to do just that. Not long after, they were off. The large snake tails carefully navigated through the brush, heading towards the house at the edge. The movements were so smooth, it was easy to forget this wasn’t a modern mode of transportation.
But Hajime knew that this was something special. Something that not many got to experience. And he cherished every moment with Nagito. With his beloved naga.

Zoo trip! Zoo trip! A great suggestion by imsleepinrn!
I think the last time I went to a zoo was in 2016. Wow. I didn’t realize how fast time has passed. Crazy crazy.
This smol should be far less chaotic and conflicting as the last one. A nice dose of fluff!
I say that like I don’t sprinkle fluff into everything I do. Eh, it’s a-ok. We like the fluff.
Also, let me know if you spot the movie reference. I’m positive you will know it when you see it.
Nagito knew he held a lot of power over Hajime. The power to convince him to do pretty much anything he asked. All he had to do was employ the pleading eyes and ask in a soft, innocent voice.
And it worked 95% of the time. Now was no exception.
“Hajime? Can we go to the zoo? I want to see all the animals they have there!”
The human looked over from his laptop where he had been doing schoolwork. And the small naga could see his magic working, as the threads of concentration he once had were weathering away. “Uh… I guess? Maybe we could go tomorrow. But are you sure? Will you be comfortable being around other humans again?”
Nagito gave him a reassuring smile, slithering over and hugging the large wrist. “As long as I’m with you, I feel safe. So long as we don’t separate, I think we shall be fine.”
Hajime sighed, ruffling the fluffy white hair. “Alright. Let’s do some research on the zoo in this area.”
Afterwards, they looked into the zoo on Hajime’s laptop, figuring out the attractions, animals, and prices. And then a plan was set.
So that is why they found themselves at the zoo entrance. Again, Hajime wore a scarf to help cover the naga and keep him both warm and out of sight. Internally, Nagito wondered if this worked to their advantage as the human paid for a single ticket. If Nagito had been out, would they have been charged for another ticket? But he put that thought aside as they entered the zoo.
Already, it was very colorful and eye-catching. Huge signs with animal drawings advertising the enclosures that were there. And a large map placed near the front to help guide visitors on where to go. Hajime went over to the sign, taking a picture of it on his phone before looking at it more intensely. “So, any preferences as to where we should go first?” he asked, pulling the scarf down a bit to allow Nagito to see more.
The tiny naga popped his head out, running a hand through his hair to try and tame it before glancing at the map. But truthfully, he didn’t care about the order. “I’ll let you choose since you bought the ticket and helped me get here. So pick whichever you want!” he said with cheer, squeezing his coils a bit in excitement.
“Fair enough. Well, since the zoo is basically a circuit, we can just pick a direction and go along that. I’ll choose… left.”
And so off they went, starting down the line of enclosures. They started off at a more aquatic section, with seals, fish and turtles happily swimming around in the water. Nagito especially liked the playful otters, one of which had noticed him and placed a paw on the glass while looking at the naga. Being chosen by the animal was incredibly uplifting, Nagito feeling like he had been blessed.
The next enclosures, however, did not inspire such feelings.
The ones after the aquatic animals were ones of the avian variety. Hajime stopped in front of a hawk’s area to look at the bird of prey. “What do you think of this one, Nagito?” the human inquired.
The bird turned its head and saw them both. In response, Nagito hissed. “Back off. I will bite.”
Hajime thankfully read his tone and took a step away. “Not a fan of birds?”
The naga grumbled while continuing to maintain his death stare at the hawk. “Too many close calls in the past. They are not my favorite species.”
“Ah, I see. No worries, we can breeze through this section,” the human told him as he rubbed the white hair gently. “They can’t get you. Not only are they behind glass but I’m here to protect you.”
The combination of the words and touches were definitely helping him calm down. He leaned into the scritches, humming with delight. “Yes, I do have my savior watching over me. Something I’m eternally thankful for.”
He could feel the skin under his scales warm up, a sure sign Hajime was blushing. He coughed before walking fast out of the avian section. “A-anyways, let’s see what’s over here.”
Nagito giggled as they moved into the larger enclosures. There, he was able to see enormous animals that he didn’t know were possible. Golden lions sunbathing on warm rocks, striped tigers padding their way through tall grass, and bears eating fish in the pond.
“Oh my,” he whispered wistfully. He knew that these animals could be dangerous, but he still was thrilled at seeing them in person. It was wonderful. He especially liked the tigers, as their colors and stripes were so unique and gorgeous. He gushed about them to Hajime, requesting to watch them a little longer than the other animals. But they did eventually have to move on, as others wanted a turn.
And then, they found themselves at the final section. The reptile section.
He felt Hajime tense up, though he wasn’t sure why. Luckily, the answer came pretty quickly. “Ummm… are you okay with going through this section, Nagito?” Hajime asked with a bit of concern.
But Nagito looked up to him with none. “Yes, I’m perfectly fine to go through. Why do you ask?”
That seemed to stump the human for a brief amount of time. “Uhh… because of what you are? I thought it might make you uncomfortable seeing other snakes.”
Nagito crossed his arms and smiled. “Hajime, are you uncomfortable seeing other people when you go to see a concert or watch humans perform? It’s about the same feeling as this. I know that the reptiles here are cared for. And that they are more simple minded than my species, therefore they likely don’t care all too much about the complexities of life. And while I do appreciate your worries for me and my comfort, I assure you that I am fine. We can continue with no problems.”
Through his snake body, he could feel the tension leave the human. Seems like he had been holding in a bit of stress over this. But he was more than happy to dispel those worries. Not that he had said anything untruthful. He really didn’t mind or care greatly about seeing other snakes or reptiles. If anything, he found the idea fascinating. He could see what potential kinds of nagas there might be out there in the world!
And as it happened, one of the zookeepers was around and handling a green snake. She was showing it to a group of visitors, who all looked fascinated. “And this is a rough green snake, non venomous and are good climbers. They mostly feed on insects and can be found in a variety of habitats. Like wetlands and forests! Isn’t she gorgeous?”
The crowd oohed and aahed, entranced by the long green snake. But they all packed in close, preventing Nagito from being able to see anything. “Hajime, I can’t see. Can we move around?”
The brunette looked around, frowning at what he saw. “I don’t think so. Other people got that idea before us. We might have to wait or go somewhere else.”
Nagito groaned. “This is not ideal. What is your suggestion on what we should do?”
Hajime looked over his shoulder, a bit of the scarf dislodging and uncovering a bit of his tail. But he didn’t make a fuss, as it could be fixed soon. “Hmmm… I guess we could…”
“Excuse me, sir. But are those… snake scales under your scarf?”
Both human and naga glanced back over to the zookeeper, who had asked the question. Hajime then noticed two things. First, Nagito's emerald scales were indeed on display. And second, that the whole group was now looking at them.
Nagito knew that Hajime got flustered when sudden attention was on him, so he himself decided to take charge of the situation for a second. He emerged again from the scarf, fixing his hair as he replied. “They are my scales. It’s cold out so being under his scarf is far nicer. Apologies for interrupting. It was unintentional.”
The zookeeper kept her composure and professionalism. “No problem! I hope you have been enjoying your visit.”
The naga smiled, fangs visible. “We have! The reptiles here look comfy. I’m a bit envious of some of the heat lamps. They look cozy.”
“That’s pretty high praise, coming from a naga. Oh! Are you interested in meeting Jacklyn? She’s quite friendly.” The green snake in her hands was lifted slightly in demonstration.
Nagito got excited. “Oh yes! I would love to!” He patted the chin above him. “Can I go on your wrist for this?”
“Huh? Oh, sure,” his favorite human replied, raising his hand for Nagito to climb on. He loosened his coils around the neck and wrapped around the offered appendage, squeezing to keep himself there. Then the human took a few steps forward, the excited crowd letting him pass as they also wished to see this.
The wrist lowered enough for him to be face to face with the other snake. Both of their tongues flicked, taking in the other’s scent. Jacklyn then began moving towards him, extending herself over the gap to rest on Hajime’s hand. In response, Nagito stroked her scales. “You look well taken care of. I’m sure your life here is carefree. Keep up the good work of helping others learn about snakes. And to dispel that silly myth that we are slimy. How rude of people to assume that. Our scales are smooth. My human can attest to that.” He looked back and up, smirking at Hajime. “Isn’t that right?”
“Geez, when did you get so vain? But yes, you are smooth,” Hajime answered with an eye roll. Several around them laughed, entertained by the playful banter.
Then a small child came up and tugged on the brunette’s other sleeve. “Excuse me! Can I feel?”
Hajime smiled down at him. “Ask Nagito nicely. And don’t be loud, his ears are sensitive.”
The child nodded very enthusiastically and stepped closer. “Mr. Naga? Can I touch your scales?”
“Well, since you were so polite about it, then sure. Just be careful, alright?” Nagito tried his best to relax as he felt an unfamiliar touch on his scales. He also saw the child stroking the other snake, getting to feel them both. He wouldn’t deny that it felt nice. But internally he knew that none would top Hajime.
Somehow, by the time the kid was satisfied and backed off, a line of both children and adults had formed to pet the snakes. Nagito didn’t see a reason to prevent this from happening, so he gave consent so long as everyone was careful and gentle. And so began a very interesting twenty minutes of his life. Before, he could count on a single hand how many humans had touched him. But now? He wasn’t sure. But he didn’t really care. He was just thankful that everyone kept their words and touched him like he was made of fragile glass.
But by the end, he would admit that he was getting sleepy. Being out in the cold for this long was wearing out his conscious levels.
He again thanked every star in the sky that Hajime noticed this. As soon as the final person finished, he raised his hand back up to the scarf. “Here, go ahead and warm up. I’ll get us home.”
Too tired to reply, he settled for a squeeze. Though he did manage a sleepy wave as everyone thanked him for the opportunity. He would readily admit that he didn’t pay much attention after the human began walking. He just focused on warming up and relaxing.
But, he did vaguely tune back in when Hajime began conversing with someone. Carefully and slowly, he peeked through the folds in the scarf to see a cashier putting a stuffed tiger toy in a bag and handing it to Hajime. It made him feel warm inside, as he knew he was the intended recipient of this. He smiled as he settled back down, looking forward to introducing his plesiosaur to his new tiger friend.

Back to back smols? Who could have seen that coming?
This one was suggested by Clover. Time for the first meeting story! Always fun.
But real quick, answer me this. Do you want a third smol? Or do you want to go back to big snek for the next chapter? Or maybe even a hidden third option? You choose and let me know!
It was a cold and rainy day when Hajime found himself in his living room with his classmate, doing the dreaded homework assignments. And after requesting to his host, he brought along the naga in his care.
“Thank you both again for letting us come over. I was really having trouble with this work. I have such a hard time understanding what the professor is saying. And also, I’m sure Komaru is enjoying seeing something else besides my plain and boring face,” Makoto expressed with a smile, writing down another answer.
“I disagree. You are not boring in the slightest,” Nagito called out from where he and Komaru were. Both were laying on some heated rocks under a lamp, warming up to battle the cold that the chilly rain brought in. Usually they were in Nagito’s terrarium. But the nagas had wanted to be close by so Hajime moved them to be in the living room with them. Hence why the emerald green naga could be heard when he interjected.
Makoto turned to look over at the two, smiling when he saw them both relaxed and happy on the rocks. “I appreciate it. Though I will say yours is probably nicer to look at than mine.”
Hajime smirked as he also added his input. “I can confirm his face is nice to look at. As one who has a ton of experience, I claim the title of expert.”
Even from across the room, the humans could see the tiny creature’s cheeks explode with red. He buried his face into his hands and Komaru laughed. The naga could hand out compliments all day, but couldn’t take them nearly as well.
After a few chuckles, both humans looked over to the window where it was raining buckets. “It’s really coming down. Reminds me of the day we found Komaru.”
Hajime nodded. “Same with when I first met Nagito. But I think it was storming a little worse that evening. Cold too.”
Makoto looked over with a thoughtful and curious expression. “Oh yeah, I don’t think you’ve told me how you met. What happened?”
The older of the two leaned back to rest his back against the couch, staring up at a ceiling grate. “Well, our first meeting was definitely not all smiles and cuddles. That’s for sure.”
**********
Hajime looked out the window before closing the blinds. Yup, it was nasty outside. A cold rainstorm with harsh winds. Not weather anyone would want to be inside in.
Thankfully, he had no need to go out for a while. It was the start of the weekend and he had no plans to go out. He had plenty of food and the heating was on. So he was all set for a lazy weekend in.
He sat down on his bedroom chair, leaning back on it and grabbing his phone. Might as well get his laziness started and he began scrolling through the internet and checking his messages.
This occupied his time for a good long while. And it consumed all his attention. So much so that he failed to notice anything different. Such as something moving through the vents above him, accompanied by pants and grunts.
What did break him out of his internet trance was the sound of the vent opening, yells, and something plopping right onto his head.
That stunned him into stillness, trying to figure out what had fallen on him. The thing on him was very much the same, as still and silent as it could be, aside from pants from exertion.
Carefully reaching over to his bed, he grabbed a pillow and raised it up to his head. He tilted his cranium, feeling whatever it was slid off and onto the plush surface. Just as slowly, he lowered the pillow to see the home intruder.
To his surprise, it was not anything he expected to see. Both in his room or in his life.
On the pillow lay a naga, tiny, emerald scales, sopping wet, and glaring at him while hissing. His fangs were on display and he was positioned in what he assumed was the naga version of a strike pose.
Knowing that the naga was probably terrified out of his mind, he assumed a calm expression and slowly lowered the pillow to the floor. He then made a show of backing away. “It’s okay. I have no intention to hurt you. And I won’t touch you.” He stood up, the naga’s eyes following his every move. He left the room to go to the bathroom, grabbing a hand towel.
“He must have been hiding in the vents from the storm. It’s much warmer and drier so it’s no wonder he chose that,” Hajime muttered to himself as he left the bathroom door open a crack. He returned to his room to see the naga had slithered off the pillow and was now hiding behind it. The tiny green eyes glared at him, another hiss audible while his tail tip vibrated rapidly. Hajime knew enough about snakes to know that was a sign of an agitation.
“Listen. I intend to keep my word. I will make no physical contact with you until you give consent to it. All I want to do is help you not get sick.” He placed the hand towel on the pillow, far enough away that he wasn’t in striking distance. He then backed up again and sat on his bed. “Tell me if you need anything. Food, a dry towel, a different source of warmth. Just let me know,” he offered, laying down on his bed.
He didn’t get any reply. Not that he expected one. He was sure this was not an easy experience for the tiny snake. So Hajime did his best to ease the tension by not looking over in that direction. He hoped that not having eyes on him would help to relax the naga. So he busied himself by beginning to look up facts about nagas on his phone. Their diets, their temperature preferences, what things they found comfortable. He got interesting results and he read up on the subjects as much as he could. He wasn’t sure how long the naga would have to stay here, on account of the weather being terrible. But he did intend to help it be a more comfortable one.
And when he rolled over to grab his charger, he caught a glimpse of the naga in his room. He had the towel wrapped around his shoulders and tail, shivering a little bit less now. That eased Hajime a bit. And he made a mental note to turn the temperature up the next time he was close to the thermostat.
~~~~~~~~~~
The communication between the two during the weekend and the following days were… minimal to say the least.
Hajime checked in on his guest a few times a day, asking questions and offering both food and other items to try and help. But all was refused with hisses. The naga had dragged the pillow and propped it against the wall, creating a small tunnel for him to hide in. The towel was also kept, the naga having it around him every time he saw him.
But it was clear that the tiny snake was growing more tired and hungry with each passing day. His hisses didn’t carry as much volume as the first encounter and the tail vibrations happened less and less. Until the fifth day when nothing occurred besides a tiny hiss.
Hajime wasn’t sure on what to do. He refused to break his word on not making contact. But he was running out of options. How could he show to this creature that his intentions were good?
This desperation led to him sitting near the pillow, holding plate with warm pieces of raw steak that he thought the naga could eat. And something else in a warm mug full of water that he had specially went out to buy. He took a deep breath and released it. “Hey, you have to be hungry. Do you want any of this?” he asked, placing the plate of steak near the pillow.
No movement and no sound. That was concerning. He had hoped that there would have been some reaction. But perhaps… a different type of food was necessary.
So he took the plate back and used a pair of tongs to pull out what he had in the mug, a small pinkie mouse that had been frozen earlier that he managed to thaw out. He had read that nagas were capable of eating human food, but sometimes their snake instincts would take control when weak or hungry. Therefore, it would be better to provide food that their snake side would prefer. Such as mice.
Hajime took the pinkie by the tail and carefully dangled it in front of the entrance of the pillow crevice. He wiggled it around to simulate movement too. And this ended up being the ticket, as a flash of green darted out and sank fangs into the mouse. Hajime released the tong’s grip and leaned back with a smile. “There we go. Now you can get some nutrients.”
The green eyes flashed over to him, his whole body freezing as he realized he was being watched. But Hajime already had planned to leave him be to eat, so he grabbed his things and left the room, placing the steak chunks into the fridge and leaving the dishes in the sink. He could wash them later. For now, he wanted to sit on his couch. He had a reading to do for class.
The book was boring, as a lot of college texts were. Which meant that he wasn’t all too engaged with it. And it also assisted in him hearing a miniature voice clear their throat near his feet.
Knowing only one possible reason for this, Hajime was slow in his movements as he looked down. Sure enough, the naga was there, staring up at him with a defensive, but curious expression. “Why? Why are you doing this?” he asked, voice raspy from little use.
“Why what? Providing you shelter? Feeding you? Leaving you be when not trying to get you to eat?”
“All of it. It doesn’t make sense to me. Humans are cruel hunters. So why are you being… so nice?” The naga pulled the hand towel tighter around himself, as if trying to provide some comfort.
Hajime shrugged. “I know this may seem unbelievable, but I only want to help you get better. I try to help when someone is in trouble. No matter what the species. That’s just who I am.” He leaned over carefully, happy when the naga didn’t hiss or back away. He also took note that the midsection of his snake half was a bit more plump. “You can leave whenever you want. I'm just glad that I was able to find something you could eat. Was it enough? I have more for you if you need another. Got a whole package.”
The green reptilian eyes widened. “You… got the mice… just for me?”
Hajime nodded. “I would be a pretty terrible host if I couldn’t properly feed my guests.”
“You see me as a guest? Not a pest or animal?” The naga looked dumbfounded, as if the idea was entirely alien.
“That’s right,” Hajime confirmed. “So do tell me if there’s anything I can do to make your stay easier. I'm at your service.”
The naga blushed a little, looking off to the side. He then caught sight of the window, an idea sparking. But it took a little before he ultimately voiced this. “If… if you are telling the truth… there is… one thing I would like.”
That intrigued the human, who raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What is it?”
Clasping his own wrist hard to calm himself, the naga looked over to him again. “I would like to request to… see outside the window. But don’t get any funny ideas! I will bite if I think you are up to something!” he warned, baring his venomous fangs for him to see.
That… had not been a request he expected. But he was still fine to do so. He would admit that the threat of being bitten was a bit nerve wracking, but he still nodded and carefully lowered his hand to the floor. “I can do that. I’ll go slow. And I’ll be extremely vigilant about my movements.”
The emerald snake stared long and hard at the hand offered to him. He seemed to be psyching himself up. But after a few minutes of patience, the creature finally moved towards him. The scales made contact with his skin, sliding effortlessly across as the tail wrapped around his wrist and fingers to provide stability. Once he was sure of the naga’s position, Hajime raised his hand as gently as he could, keeping an eye on the reactions of the small one he was carrying.
He raised him up to the window, positioning him directly in the sunlight. Almost instantly, the tension the naga had melted once he saw and felt the sunlight. “The rain is gone. And it’s so pretty outside with the moisture reflecting the light. And so so warm. Perfect for basking.” He relaxed, his coils drooping as he smiled. “You are truly lucky to have such a nice view. Not as much human development in this direction. Lots of sunlight here. I could easily sleep here for hours.”
Hajime was a bit surprised as how talkative the naga had become once he was comfortable. But it was certainly not a bad thing. “I’m glad to help. By the way, what’s your name? Mine’s Hajime.”
The snake person broke his stare at the outdoors to look at him again. “I guess you have earned the right to know mine. It’s Nagito.”
Hajime smiled. “Nagito the naga. It suits you.”
He actually got a smile back before Nagito looked back outside. “Now then, we shall stay here in the sun for a while. You don’t mind, do you?”
**********
“And then he never left,” Hajime concluded, shrugging his shoulders with a grin. “Guess the appeal of being pampered and looked after was too great in comparison to life outdoors.”
Both he and Makoto glanced over to the bright green snake, who nodded lazily. “I can get whatever I want and need here. The choice was obvious. Now I never go hungry. And Hajime makes incredible food. I’ll probably have a hard time going back to raw prey after all I’ve experienced.”
Komaru agreed. “Everything Makoto makes is much much better than what I had in the wild. I never want to go back.”
Then the two dropped off back to sleep, practically melting in the warmth. The humans gazed at the cute sight for a little longer before turning back to their work.
“We are lucky as well,” Makoto commented.
Hajime hummed. “That is very true. But sadly, not lucky enough to avoid homework. Come on, let’s get this done before dinner.”
Makoto groaned, but picked up his pen again. “Fine, fine.”
I commissioned the talented and amazing @aaytaro-gt to draw something for my komahina borrower au.
First off, Nagito and Hajime look so happy and fluffy and adorable.
And then Izuru is doing the aro ace judgmental stare at people doing pda. I can confirm I have done that exact face.
But yeah, I love everything about this. It’s perfect. Please go give Taro love and support! Their stuff is just wonderful.
And if you wanna read the fic this is based off of, here’s the link.
Enjoy your day!!!
First and foremost, go check this out! Tortadecereji made this based on the last drabble! And it’s wonderful!
And now, back to our regularly scheduled giant naga Nagi. This was suggested by sweet hearts cakery. And it’s a Valentine’s Day special!!!
What will our lovestruck idiots do?
Nagito didn’t know much about human customs or holidays. All he knew was what he had been told by Hajime. But even then, it was not often a topic of conversation. Which is why it threw him for a loop when Sonia brought it up.
“Do you have any plans to celebrate Valentine's Day with your human? And special presents you are trying to make or find?”
Nagito looked over to her with total confusion. “Huh? What’s that?”
Sonia appeared surprised. “Oh? You aren’t aware of this holiday?”
Nagito shrugged. “I know about birthdays and a few others in the earlier cold months. So what’s this one?”
The blue naga clapped her hands in excitement with sparkles in her eyes. “Oh, let me tell you all I know!”
And so began a lesson between the nagas. And by the end, Nagito was astounded. He almost missed such an important holiday!? Why had Hajime not told him about this?
“It’s in a few days, right? That’s not much time. What can I possibly do for him?” he muttered to himself, staring at the cave floor with sadness.
Sonia pat his shoulder, an understanding smile on her face. “It is fine! I’m sure anything you give him will be liked. Hajime seems to be quite the kind individual.”
“But I don’t want to get him just anything! I want it to be special!” he cried out.
The female naga nodded. “I see you are certain of this. Well, if you want advice, how about something unique? Something that makes it clear that it’s from you? Something that could only be made by you?”
Nagito laid down on the stone floor, trying his best to think. Something that was unique and that only he could do? That was easier said than done. “Do you participate in this holiday? What do you do?”
Sonia laid by him, a common act between them now. “I give him some of my scales! He likes using them for all kinds of projects. Though most of the time he uses them to make clothing for me. He’s so kind.”
“Scales…” Nagito muttered, intertwining his tail with his friend’s. That would certainly make his gift unique. But he wanted to add something to make it more special. But what to do…
He thought about the times he had spent with the human, wondering if any would provide inspiration. And that proved to be the ticket, as he thought of something. “I have an idea. Can I request your help with it?”
Sonia grinned at him. “Of course! Now tell me what you came up with!”
**********
“You mean to tell me that you have not informed the emerald one of this day’s significance?”
Hajime shrugged as he wiped down the last of the spills from the earlier baking. “It’s not like I did this intentionally! It just never came up in conversation.” Checking the timer, he was pleased to see his latest set was almost done. This should be the last one before all was ready. “But I’m sure Sonia will be telling him. She knows, right?”
“Of course she does! We’ve… ahem… c-celebrated it together… over the years,” Gundham replied, burying part of his face into the scarf that he refused to remove no matter the weather or circumstances.
“Really? That’s sweet. I’m sure she appreciates it.” The timer went off and Hajime pulled the mold out of the freezer, letting his creations thaw. “Well, I hope our combined efforts pay off this year.”
“Indeed. I have yet to offer this variety of gift to my lady. And I’m positive yours has not had the opportunity to receive such a gift either.” Gundham looked out the window, staring out into the vast forest. “We are meeting them at the clearing, correct? After nutrient consumption?”
Hajime nodded. “We are. These should be ready by the time we finish eating.”
And so the two had their lunch, talking leisurely throughout. Hajime had gotten used to Gundham’s grandiose way of speaking and could pretty much understand what he meant. Therefore, he no longer found it awkward to share space or meals with him.
He even helped clean the dishes afterwards, insisting on doing his part. With the assistance, the kitchen was sparkling clean in no time again.
“Okay. I think everything is set. It’s evenly split so we can both give them something,” Hajime commented, picking up a large box carefully. He grunted with effort as the contents were heavy. Gundham similarly made noises as he picked his up. But both of them didn’t care about the weight. They could carry the boxes to their nagas and they would do it now.
They walked out and away from the house, marching towards the woods with a bit of a spring in their step. It was impossible not to be excited. It was also much more imperative that they watched where they were stepping, as they didn’t want to trip and break what was in their boxes.
It took longer than usual, but the humans safely arrived at their destination. And they were pleased to see that their nagas were already present. And in addition…
“Wait… those flowers,” Hajime said, recognizing them from the vast flower field that Nagito had brought him to. The colorful blooms had been carefully planted, almost none of the petals looking as if they had been damaged.
“You remember? I thought you might like to have some closer to home. So you can see their pretty colors whenever you like,” Nagito told him, slithering close and laying down on the ground to be at the human’s level. “There’s also one more thing. Look closer.”
Hajime did, stepping forward towards the flowers. Something flashed in his eyes, the sunlight reflecting off something in the ground. Something that looked very familiar. “You lined the area around the flowers with your scales?”
Nagito beamed. “Yes! It works both as decoration and warding the deer away from eating them. They won’t like the scent of a naga. So they will be safe!” He leaned in, bumping his nose against the human’s side. “It’s your gift for Valentine’s Day. Do you like it?”
Hajime had to put down the box in order to fully hug the larger creature. “I do. More than you know. Thank you,” he answered, rubbing his flushed cheek against the other’s.
This action made the pale cheeks he was hugging blush as well. “I… I’m glad. It wasn’t easy. Sonia and I had to go super slow when carrying them so that the dirt wouldn’t spill out. But! The result was super nice! And I’m happy I could do this on our first Valentine’s Day!”
“Ah, so Sonia helped you? That was nice of her.” Hajime briefly glanced over to the other pair, seeing the naga give the human a set of her scales and being handed the box in return. That helped remind him of his own gift. “Hey, I have something that I made for you as well. Would you… like to see it?”
Nagito’s eyes widened. “You made something for me? I think I can die happy.”
Hajime batted the skin. “You aren’t allowed to die on me. Anyways, you should at least see what it is and try it before perishing.” He pulled away from the hug to pick the heavy box back up. “Hold out your hand,” he instructed.
Nagito did so, extending his hand over and the box was placed on it. After getting a nod of approval from the brunette, the naga used a claw to carefully open the box. The reptilian eyes looked a bit confused, though in an excited way. His tongue also was darting out as he took in the scent of what was in the box.
“It’s chocolate, a kind of candy. A tradition on Valentine’s Day is to give chocolate to the one you… really like. So in my case, it’s obviously you. I’ve never made chocolate from scratch before, so I hope it tastes good. And that there’s enough in there for you.”
That last part had been the biggest challenge. Since the nagas were so large, the portion sizes of treats had to be increased significantly. And it took some trial and error to correctly discover the perfect recipe for huge chunks of chocolate. And the results were in the boxes. They had been able to make chocolate chunks that were about the size of a human head. The humans had made three each for the nagas, both hoping it would be enough.
Nagito delicately pinched one of the cubes, looking at it eagerly. “This must have taken you so much time. I can’t wait to try it!” He popped the square into his mouth, instantly melting with a happy groan at the taste. “This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever had. How is this possible? Is this magic? Are you a cooking god?”
Hajime rolled his eyes with a smile as he wiped away the tears that had gathered in the corner of the large eyes. “I cannot claim godhood. Nor am I capable of magic. Just some perseverance and hard work.”
Nagito ate another, tail tip waving in the air with happiness. “I still think it’s magic. It’s way too good to be real.”
Hajime grinned. “A good portion of the world agrees with you. It’s a widely loved treat.” His smile then softened into one more tender. “But yeah, I’m glad you liked it. And happy Valentine’s Day, my special snake.”
Nagito put the box down to hug the human to his cheek more. “Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well, my beloved.”
So this is a suggestion by CrEePy_MaSkY. One that I’m sure several of you have been wanting as well.
A certain someone making an appearance and meeting the snek. Yeah, you know.
So enjoy!
It had been a fairly average day so far. Nothing too exciting had occurred. Nagito had simply been basking in the warm sun’s rays next to the human’s house. Said human was sitting at his patio table with a glass of ice water. There was a comfortable silence between them, both just enjoying the nice weather and peace.
Until Hajime’s phone made a noise. And the human nearly choked on his drink when he looked to see what it was.
Nagito opened his eyes and turned his head to face him. “Are you okay? Is something wrong?”
Hajime nodded as he coughed, trying to clear the water out. He took a few deep breaths before finally speaking. “I’m fine. Don’t worry. I just didn’t expect the message I got.”
Nagito inched himself forward, as if he would be able to see the message over Hajime’s shoulders. “Oh? What was it about?” he asked when he got close enough.
The human turned his chair to face him. “Have I told you anything about my family?”
The naga thought for a second, recalling all their previous conversations. “Only that your parents live far away.”
“Really? That’s all? Wow, I thought he would have come up at least once during this time,” Hajime said with astoundment. He shook his head and resumed speaking. “So I have a twin brother. And he just sent me a message requesting for him to come visit. Chiaki apparently told him where I lived and that someone… ‘special’ was with me. So I guess that made him curious.”
Nagito blushed and smirked at the same time. “Aww, I’m someone special? I’m honored.” The grin grew wider. “So I’m assuming you will allow him to come? I’m most eager to see him now!”
Hajime looked away to send a message with a bit of pinkness on his cheeks, glancing back once he had sent it. “Y-yeah. You are… quite special.” His phone buzzed in his hand as he got an immediate reply. “Uh… he says he’s heading out now. And will be here in a few hours. He is so impatient. I’m surprised he wasn’t already on the way,” he muttered.
Nagito reached over and hooked his claws around the chair, dragging it closer to himself. “Don’t be so grumpy! I can help you cheer up. I know just the thing!”
“Wait! Don’t start-”
But it was too late. Nagito had trapped him in the chair while his front was nuzzled.
Several minutes later, a very frazzled Hajime walked back into his house, red as an apple and clearly trying to regain any amount of composure. Nagito felt good about himself with his work today. He was properly scented and adored. Though, he would most likely do more later down the line when he returned outside. He looked forward to that.
He also was looking forward to meeting Hajime’s twin. What would he be like? From the little he gathered, he sounded different in personality and temperament than his beloved. Would they look similar or different? How would he dress? Height? Scent? All questions he knew he would get answers to eventually. All he had to do was wait.
So he did. He returned to his basking spot, enjoying the warm rays. He got it all to himself today. Both Sonia and Gundham had stayed in the forest to do their own thing, so he got some alone time with his human. Which also meant he would get Hajime’s twin all to himself too. His tail tip flicked slowly as he thought about it.
He dozed off after a little, vaguely aware of a few noises occurring in the house as Hajime got ready for a guest. But he didn’t fully stir until he felt Hajime pat his cheek firmly. “He’s pulling up. Are you ready to meet him?”
Nodding, Nagito sat up and stretched his human half. That had been a good nap. He was energized again and ready to socialize with the new human. At his tremendous height, he could see a small car making its way up the driveway. It parked near the garage and the driver stepped out.
Nagito could tell that Hajime and his twin shared a similar face and height. But that’s about where the immediate similarities ended. This new human was dressed a little more formally, which he pulled off despite it being the countryside. He also had red eyes and long black hair which was currently in a ponytail. And his scent was unique as well. Sharper than Hajime’s. But not in a bad way.
Speaking of Hajime, he strolled up to his brother with a casual air. “Huzzah, you made it. How was the drive?”
The raven haired man shrugged. “Boring,” he said in a near emotionless voice.
Hajime sighed. “I should have known you would say that.”
His twin raised an eyebrow. “Honestly, you should have. You’ve known me for our entire lives.” The red eyes shifted to the naga. “Now, are you going to introduce us?”
Nagito busied himself with lying back down as Hajime got in between them. “Yeah. Izuru, this is Nagito. My special neighbor, in a way.” He looked to the naga next. “Nagito, this is my twin brother Izuru. Don’t think too hard about his sour attitude. He’s always like this.”
Izuru’s eyes narrowed. “That is false. I don’t appreciate you spreading such misinformation. I am almost offended.”
Hajime just smirked. “Yeah, still sour. Even after all the time we’ve been apart.” He patted his brother on the shoulder. “Lighten up! Let’s enjoy this! Besides, Nagito has been eager to meet you.”
Izuru rolled his eyes at his twin’s first statement. But he lost some of his edge at the second part. “Is that right?” He stepped close to the naga, a finger under his chin as he examined the creature in front of him. “Trimeresursus stejnegeri. Also known as the green tree viper. Based on various example photos I have seen, you appear to be healthy, if a little more on the skinny side. Not enough to prove detrimental. And considering my brother’s demeanor around you, I assume you are more amicable and comfortable with communicating and interacting with our species. Now, answer me this. Has Hajime been treating you well? And the answer to the inverse would be appreciated as well.”
The influx of words momentarily stunned Nagito. But he took comfort in the smile and shrug he saw Hajime do behind Izuru. This was typical and normal. So he felt no wariness when replying. “I feel as though my life has been incredibly uplifted since I met your brother. I was so lonely before. Now every day I live is precious. And it’s all because he’s here. And he’s so kind as to provide me with company and sweet words. This is truly paradise.”
Izuru nodded approvingly. “I understand. And how have you been interacting?”
Nagito grinned wide, his fangs visible. “With lots of nuzzles and hugs. Only the best for my beloved.”
Both he and Izuru turned to look at Hajime, who looked like he was about to explode from embarrassment. His entire body was cherry red and they could practically see steam coming out of his ears. “N-Nagito! Don’t just blurt that kind of stuff out to him!”
Nagito feigned ignorance, tilting his head. “But Hajime, he asked me a question! And I must do the correct thing and be honest!”
Hajime buried his face into his hands and groaned. And Nagito got an idea with him distracted like this.
Reaching his hand out, he grabbed the brunette and brought him back over to him. He then began nuzzling him against his cheek. “Don’t worry, Hajime! I have plenty more affection to give.”
Izuru smirked at the sight. “Come now, Hajime. You wouldn’t resist such an honest declaration of affection, would you?”
But that smirk got wiped off as Nagito grabbed him as well. With both humans in hand, he rose to a taller height. “Now we can go to the woods! There is much to see. No time like the present!”
He felt Izuru stiffen up in his hold in surprise. Seems like he hadn’t expected this. And Hajime began laughing. “Not so composed now, are you? And before you ask, no. He won’t put us down until he’s satisfied. Believe me, I’ve tried.”
The naga hummed in confirmation, hugging both of the humans to his collarbone. “No need to be glum. Our forest is so pretty! You’ll love it!”
Izuru grumbled some things under his breath, but did seem to accept his fate as he got comfortable. Hajime knew the drill already and had relaxed, already pointing out some things to his twin. And so Nagito slithered on, excited for what lay ahead for them all.
Teeny snek! Suggested by @bobasriduur.
Man, I wish I had a lil naga Nagi. I’m sure many of y’all agree.
He is def a lucky charm for Hajime. And he knows it. And I’m sure Hajime is appreciative of it too.
But on the other hand, what happens when the luck runs out? Fun things, that’s for sure.
Now, for the next one, help me choose a size. Medium or big?
Nagito wouldn’t claim to be an expert on all things human. He was very much still learning through experiences with Hajime. And there were some things that he felt he would not truly understand.
Such as what was occurring currently.
The naga had simply been basking in the warm sunlight when he began hearing groans of frustration. Curious, he opened his eyes and looked over to the couch where Hajime was. He was sitting there with a controller in his hands and a headset on, staring hard at the tv in front of him. He was talking into a microphone on the headset to people who were not present. And something was happening on the screen. Nagito noticed that whenever Hajime’s fingers pushed buttons, the character on the screen performed an action. Therefore, he deduced that the human was playing what he called a video game with people online.
They were supposed to be fun. That’s what he had been told. But it looked like this one was causing more stress than enjoyment. “Come on! Are you kidding me?”
Nagito stretched his arms as he got up, slithering down the ramp that Hajime had set up for him to get to the window. He made his way across the carpet and over to the human’s legs. He tugged on one of the pant legs to get the larger person’s attention. “Are you doing alright?”
The brunette looked down, calming himself when he saw the little creature. He muted his mic as he began speaking to his roommate. “Oh, hey Nagito. I’m alright, I promise. Just… frustrated at my bad luck in this game.” He set the controller aside and lowered a hand down, offering a ride to the naga. “Want to come up? You can watch me fail countless times from a better angle.”
Nagito got on, squeezing to indicate he was ready. “Don’t be so hard on yourself! I’m sure you can accomplish your task!” he cheered as he was lifted up.
Hajime sighed. “I appreciate the support. Now where do you want to sit?”
Nagito pointed up. “Your hair please!”
Smiling, Hajime did as requested. Nagito was soon nestled into the brown locks, an arm wrapped around the human’s antenna as if hugging it. Before the human could ask, he quickly informed him of his comfort levels. “I’m in the most perfect position. No change is needed.”
He felt the human hum under him. “Good to hear. Let me know if you change your mind.” He picked up the controller again and turned his head to the screen. “Let’s see how bad this turns out.”
Nagito petted his head. “I’m here now. So your luck should turn around!” he proclaimed with confidence.
Hajime sighed. “Guess we shall see.”
Then he began playing again. Nagito kept quiet, not wanting to be distracting or to interrupt the conversation the other players had with him. So he simply watched the movements on the screen in front of him. It looked like he was playing with random people online. He did recognize one of the names as Chiaki’s, who was a friend of theirs. So he guessed she invited him to play with her and her teammates.
But as he began playing again, Nagito noticed something. The events and actions that were occurring were now different. Suddenly, Hajime was finding lots of rare and helpful items. His attacks were hitting harder and more accurately. And the enemies were barely able to hit him. It was almost as though the game was helping him along.
Due to his closeness, he was able to hear the astonishment of his teammates. “Dude! What happened? All of a sudden you are a gamer god!”
“You aren’t hacking, are you?”
“Hajime wouldn’t hack. He’s an honest player.”
The last one was Chiaki, defending her friend. She was a kind person. Nagito liked her a lot. Perhaps his second favorite human.
“Well, you helped a ton. We cleared that round no problem.”
“Spill, man! What’s your secret to sudden success!?”
Hajime laughed. “I got my good luck charm with me now. Helped a lot.”
Nagito smiled wide. He knew Hajime meant him. He nuzzled the head under him as best he could to show appreciation, to which the human briefly lifted a hand to stroke his tail.
The luck continued for a while longer. But eventually, the group decided to change to a different game.
“Oh! How about we try out that new multiplayer horror game?” someone suggested.
Nagito felt Hajime get more rigid. And his voice had a bit of nervousness as he tried to reply. “Uh… I don’t-”
But he was cut off by a wave of excited voices.
“Yeah! Let’s do it!”
“Sure!”
“I’ve been meaning to check it out.”
“Let’s hope it’s actually scary.”
“A friend of mine says it’s really good. So I think it will be.”
Hajime shakily sighed. “Okay. Let’s load it up.”
Most of the group enthusiastically cheered as they did so. The title screen was of a horrifying monster. But Nagito found himself intrigued. He knew that some humans enjoyed witnessing horror. And he was morbidly curious as to how this would go. So he got into a comfortable viewing angle, ready to watch.
It started off very quiet, with occasional observations from members of the team. They trekked through an abandoned and decrepit amusement park. Various rides rotted away from rust and the buildings were in serious disrepair. Various statues of creatures littered the grounds too, all of them ragged and partially destroyed.
The group eventually found a large circus tent, going into it. In the center, they found a large ritual circle. Once they got close, it began glowing.
“Oh, that’s a good sign,” someone commented. Everyone let out laughs.
“Bet that activated the creatures. Let’s see if anything changed.”
The group exited. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first. But the naga noticed something. “Hajime. That hippo statue is in a different position.”
The brunette turned to look at it, seeing that it was indeed different.
Meanwhile, others were confused about the new voice. “Who’s that?”
Hajime simply replied, “My roommate is here with me. He says the hippo is different.”
All looked towards it as well, agreeing it was off. One person walked up to it, wanting a closer look. Nothing happened.
One by one, everyone took a look. But when Hajime walked up, it reacted. It swung out, damaging Hajime’s character. All yelped and ran away from it, the creaking behind them indicating that it was following.
They encountered several other machined monsters as they ran along, each one making a beeline for Hajime. The frustration began overtaking the terror.
“Why… are they all… after me!?” he yelled out. Some of his team laughed. One even commented that his lucky charm had changed its mind.
But Nagito couldn’t find it in himself to downgrade himself for potentially causing this. He was far too entertained by the reactions he was seeing and hearing. Perhaps it was a little cruel of him. But he was having lots of fun at the moment.
Finally, the monsters caught them at a dead end and killed all of their characters. The Game Over screen flashed on the screen, eliciting groans.
“Well, that was something.”
“Yeah.”
“Def wasn’t expecting that.”
“It was still fun!”
“Hajime, you better recharge that lucky charm of yours next time.”
Hajime let out a deep sigh, making Nagito giggle. A large hand rose to grab him, bringing him down onto his lap. Nagito just smirked and hugged the digits, looking as endearing and innocent as possible.
It ended up working, as the human’s stress melted away at the sight. The other hand put the controller down and ruffled the white hair. “Yeah, I’ll take good care of my lucky charm. No doubt about that.” He relaxed into the couch behind him for a moment. “Okay, now let’s play something else. Nothing horror themed this time, got it!?”
Another round of laughter. But Hajime joined in this time. Nagito decided that now he could rest. So he settled on the human’s lap, closing his eyes and relaxing with the gentle touches.
Another from @bobasriduur ! She has lots of great ideas!
And Izuru is along for the ride this time as well! He gets snek time, too. Sorta. You’ll see what I mean.
Btw, y’all are still more than welcome to suggest things!
Since Izuru had never been to his house before, Hajime and Nagito thought it a good idea to give him tours of the forest. So over the course of several days, that’s what they did. All the unique sights in the woods were shown, and Izuru took great interest in all.
Today, they weren’t alone in their exploration. Sonia and Gundham had joined them this time. Sonia had delighted in the chance to speak with another human and Gundham had displayed his amazement at the power Izuru held. Whatever that meant.
Regardless, the group made their way through the green, having a conversation about how life had been for them all. The nagas carried the humans on their hands while they moved, skillfully maneuvering around the trees and bushes. It was nice and peaceful for a good long while.
They got close to the edge of Hajime’s property, seeing the fence in the distance. “We are almost there,” Nagito announced. “Once we reach this corner, you will have seen everything! Though I will admit this isn’t the prettiest. It’s close to the road and doesn’t have anything that helps it stand out.”
Izuru shrugged. “I do not mind. You may continue forward.”
Nodding, the nagas slithered closer. And Izuru resumed telling them about the latest charity he had worked with. Apparently they had reached way more than their goal and the money was to go towards protecting parks and lakes. To ensure they wouldn’t be able to be destroyed by companies wanting to use the land for their own gain.
“They certainly chose right to work with you,” Hajime said with a smile. “You can convince anyone of anything if you want to. It’s kinda scary at times.”
The raven haired man smirked. “You would know this fact better than most, wouldn’t you, my brother?”
The brunette groaned. “Oh yeah. All the times you convinced me to do things and then we got in trouble by our parents.”
“Still bitter about those? Really now, Hajime. You should let those…”
Izuru trailed off, suddenly looking far more serious. “Hajime. Someone has cut through the wires on the fence. It looks purposeful.”
Hajime peered down at the fence. And sure enough, there was a section that was missing. The ends of the wires curled up now that they weren’t taut. Someone was on his property. Someone who didn’t pay any mind to the private property signs.
Both Nagito and Sonia began hissing, tails tips beginning to rattle in their anger. “Trespassers. How dare they,” Sonia growled in a tone Hajime hadn't heard before.
“Get them out before they do any damage. Drive them out. Make sure they never return,” Nagito hissed too, his mouth slit beginning to widen.
Izuru stood up on the green naga’s palm. “Both of you, calm down now. It won’t do us any good if you lose your minds to rage.” The reptilian eyes locked onto him, but he showed no sign of intimidation. “I shall track them down. They were not careful. And once I find them, I’ll take them out. I can sneak up on them far better.” He clapped twice, signaling the start of his plan. “Nagito, let me down and I’ll find them. All of you should remain here. They will likely flee back to their entry point. Block it so that we can apprehend them.”
“Izuru, this sounds dangerous. What if they see you?!” Hajime desperately asked as the naga lowered them to the ground.
Izuru gave him a reassuring smile. “Hajime, don’t tell me you forgot who you are talking to. They won’t know I’m there until the last nanosecond.” He hopped off the hands, kneeling down and holding up a dropped ammunition round. “A tranquilizer dart. They can’t kill unless administered in high amounts. And I doubt they brought enough that could end a naga. So as long as Hajime and Gundham remain protected, you should be safe should they find you. Now, stay here. I shall return shortly.” Then he turned, following the near invisible trail that the trespassers had left behind.
“Let us be careful, mortal. Your twin may be an all powerful god of destruction, but we are not as blessed. Stealth is the strategy for now. We should conceal ourselves,” Gundham suggested, to which everyone agreed.
The nagas put the humans down on the ground and slithered back to try and hide. Their large sizes gave them some difficulties in this task, but they accomplished it as best they could.
And then they waited. It was a tense five minutes, for sure. But then the sound of several men screaming were audible. “Looks like he found them,” Hajime commented, relieved when he heard no sounds of guns firing.
The forest became a lot more lively as the sound of multiple footsteps ran towards them, accompanied with panicked yelling.
“What is that thing?!”
“I swear it’s a demon!”
“It got Steve!”
“Where’s the fence?!”
“Over here! Let’s get out of here!”
“Yeah! A huge catch is not worth it!”
Hajime was mostly entertained by the cries. But there was still that bit of worry. He just hoped that everything went according to the plan and that they would leave without doing anything.
The footsteps got closer and closer and closer. But then they halted, along with the voices. That made the group feel on edge. What was happening? What was going on?
Nagito seemed to sense something before anyone, getting up from his position and lunging towards Sonia. “Watch out!” he screamed before making several pained noises.
“Nagito!” Hajime shouted, sprinting to his naga with all his strength. He reached them right before Nagito slumped to the ground, several darts sticking out of his lower back.
Whoops and hollers were audible from the bushes, a group of camouflaged men rising up and high-fiving each other. “Got a naga! Thought there was one here.”
“It’s a bit bigger than I thought it would be. Might need a bigger truck!”
“Steve’s sacrifice won’t be in vain now!”
“Uh… guys? There’s another one.”
“Can’t be… wait, there is.”
“Looks mad, too.”
“And we used up all our rounds.”
Sonia hugged her friend close, glaring her piercing eyes at the group. “How dare you. How dare you!” she shrieked.
But the men didn’t have much time to panic. They fell to the ground unconscious one by one in rapid succession, with Izuru standing behind them. He had caught up, dragging the sleeping body of the first man behind him.
But Hajime didn’t pay much attention to him, running up to be close to his naga. “Nagito? Hey, can you hear me?”
The green naga barely registered his words, eyes drooping and expression sleepy.
“He’s had multiple doses of strong tranquilizers. It will take some time for them to wear off,” Izuru commented. He looked up to Sonia, talking in a firm tone. “I need your assistance in transporting these trespassers to Hajime’s house. Once there, I will alert the authorities to have them arrested. Trespassing and poaching. They will not be returning anytime soon.” The red eyes then landed on his brother. “Hajime, you stay here with Nagito. He shouldn’t be left alone while going through this. And so long as you are by him, nothing shall approach. We will return once these fools have been dealt with. Then we can discuss a stronger wire to use for fencing.”
The blue naga looked reluctant to leave, but she knew Izuru was correct. She leaned down and rubbed her cheek on the green naga’s. “You took the tranquilizers meant for me. You saved me. You are the greatest friend one could ask for. Thank you.” She took a breath, then straightened up with a stern, but composed expression. “Very well. I shall transport them back. But I refuse to be gentle.”
Izuru shook his head. “I didn’t expect you to. Now let’s get moving.”
Gundham was placed on Sonia’s shoulder, keeping balance as she moved. The naga grabbed hold of the trespassers’ legs, holding them upside down with an unimpressed look. She began slithering in the direction of Hajime’s house, Izuru keeping pace beside her easily.
Hajime watched them disappear into the green. Then he turned back to the naga in front of him. “Nagito? It’s alright now. Are you sleepy?”
“Hhhhhhhh…”
Not much of a reply. But Hajime figured as much. He pet the large cheek. “Let me go get those darts out of you. Stay still, okay?”
Nagito didn’t move, just breathing. So the human quickly ran to his backside and pulled every single wretched dart out of his naga. Seeing the pile on the ground made him furious. He had been lenient on the first two trespassers. He would not be with this group. And he knew Izuru wouldn’t be either.
But now was not the time to stew in his thoughts. He had someone he needed to be with. He returned to the giant face, sitting down next to it. “They’re all out. They won’t hurt you anymore.”
“Hhhhhhhhhaaaaa…”
Again, not much of a reply. Though he could have sworn he saw the creature relax more after his words. Could he hear him? Well, it wouldn’t hurt to keep talking.
“That was amazing, you know. You heard them before anyone. And you heroically saved Sonia from getting hit. I’m sure she and Gundham will remember that for the rest of their lives. And I’m proud that I have someone so incredible in my life. Someone very important to me. More than any other.”
“Hhhhaaaa….jjjjiiiii…”
The brunette blinked in surprise. That had almost sounded like his name. “Nagito? Are you calling me?” he asked as he stroked the cheek near him.
Nagito leaned into it, a goofy smile beginning to grow. “Mmmmmmmm…” His eyes closed fully. “Ssssllllll… eeeee…”
“Sleepy? I bet you are. You can rest if you want to. I’ll be here when you wake up,” the human assured, rubbing his cheek against the giant creature.
Nagito didn't need any further prompting. He went unconscious pretty soon after, as if he had been waiting for Hajime to confirm it was okay. Deep breaths were taken in and exhaled, rustling the grass around them. It was clear he was out like a light.
Hajime stayed close, continuing his pets. He was glad that the naga looked like he was alright. Just extremely sleepy. But that was doable, as he would need to just sleep it off.
He got comfortable against the warm skin, knowing he was gonna be there for a while. But he could make use of the time to think of gifts he could create or buy for his heroic naga.
The clinginess has returned! But not in snake form! Something I’m sure lots of you have been wanting!
So I decided that this is a direct follow up to the last drabble. Poor Nagi had it rough.
But he’s gonna be okay! After all, he has a wonderful family to care for him. And you can read all about it here!
Nagito was no stranger to extreme sleepiness. He had gone through several winters in brumation. But what he had felt after those darts was something else entirely. Nothing like he had ever experienced before.
It had been a sudden wave instead of a gradual growth. He had bits and pieces of memories of what he had done and said after being hit, but it was blank for the most part. So he was a bit surprised by his surroundings when he reawakened. He was still near the fence and he couldn’t see anyone around him. Had everyone left? Where did they go? He groaned as he tried to move, intending to get up and go to the human home.
But then he felt a small bit of movement under his shawl and near his neck. A tiny warm body, leaning up against him. He tasted the air by flicking his tongue, and smiled when he discovered who it was. Hajime. He was still here with him. That was immensely comforting, knowing his beloved had stayed with him.
So he stopped moving, aside from repositioning his hand to slip under his shawl and touch the small body with the tips of his fingers. Hajime reacted, wrapping his little arms around his digits. “You’re awake?” the human called out, trying to hide a yawn.
Nagito giggled. “I suppose I am now. How about you?”
“Working on it,” Hajime groaned as he stretched. “How are you feeling? Sore? Sick?”
“Just a little tired now, I think,” the naga replied. “Where is everyone else?”
“Sonia and Gundham went with Izuru to meet with the police near the house. The intruders will be arrested and taken away. Izuru is also gonna help with making the fence stronger. I’m sure they are heading back this way now. It’s been a few hours.”
Nagito’s eyes widened. “Really? It’s been that long? I’m sorry that you had to wait all this time. It must have been terribly boring.”
But Hajime only clung to his hand tighter. “Nonsense. I’ll wait as long as I need to make sure you’re okay. You mean a lot to me, and I want you to be safe and healthy.”
Nagito felt his cheeks redden from the proclamations. “You… are so kind. And might I say, being bold today. You usually don’t voice these kinds of things.”
Hajime stayed silent, indicating that the naga was onto something. And once he figured it out, he grinned wide. “Oh? Could it be that you feel safe saying these things once you are out of my sight? Are you perhaps embarrassed to say it otherwise?” he teased.
He heard a grumble, so he knew he was right. “Enough, enough. Now can you see if the others are coming?”
Nagito relented on his teasing, though he did keep his smirk as he scented the air. “They are indeed heading this way. They should arrive in a matter of minutes.” He moved his hand to clutch at Hajime. “Which means we have some time alone together before they arrive! Isn’t that wonderful?” he asked as he pulled the human closer in an embrace.
Hajime didn’t protest, actually leaning into the touches around him. “Yeah, I guess we will. I’m certainly not complaining.”
So the pair snuggled, the air around them peaceful and quiet. It was perfect in Nagito’s opinion. A memory he would cherish forevermore.
Eventually, the rustling of the plants grew louder and louder. Izuru appeared first, with Sonia and Gundham right behind him. “You are awake. Any feelings of nausea or dizziness?”
Nagito smiled, making sure to not move his head. “I am fine! Just a little sleepy, but not bad.”
Izuru nodded approvingly. “I see. That is good to hear. Is my brother still with you?”
The green naga’s grin grew wider. “Oh yes. He is very close by. Right where I want him, in fact.”
Sonia was the one to reply, also grinning. “Oh? Have you been having fun while we were away? That’s grand! Excellent use of time!”
Izuru smirked as his red eyes glanced at the shawl. “Good work, Hajime. Now let’s try and get Nagito closer to the house. I can monitor him to make sure there are no side effects. So come on out.”
But to the naga’s delight, he felt the brunette cling more to the giant neck near him. “I think I’ll stay close to him. You can carry me, right Nagito?”
Nagito nodded the best he could without disturbing the human. “Of course! You barely weigh a thing to me, so I can easily carry you.”
Izuru shrugged his shoulders. “So long as you aren’t straining yourself, I don’t see a problem with you transporting Hajime. But if you do feel off or start needing to strain to move, stop immediately and request a break. Understand?”
“That’s fair. Yes, I shall let you know,” Nagito said as he began slowly to rise from the ground. He extracted his hand and the human from under the shawl for the world to see. He giggled when he saw that the brown hair was a little messy from being under the cloth. But he continued with his actions, placing his beloved on his shoulder in between his neck and where the fabric laid. “Comfy?” he asked as he glanced over.
He saw Hajime grab hold of both his hair and the shawl. After which, he nodded. “Yeah. I’m all good if you are.”
Satisfied with this assurance, the green naga returned to looking at the raven haired human. “Shall we go?”
Izuru swiftly turned around, heading in the correct direction. “Let us set off, then. I shall explain the details as we travel.”
But Sonia grabbed hold of him, lifting him up to her other shoulder. “Now, now. You have been walking to and fro. You need a break, too. And no arguments!”
Hajime’s twin looked a bit stunned by this, as if he had never expected this to occur. But he didn’t protest, easily balancing on the blue naga’s shoulder. “Very well. Let’s proceed.”
Nagito took a breath and urged his body to move. Thankfully, it listened to him. He was able to slither with little issue. He communicated this to his companions, who all seemed relieved by the news. Therefore, they were able to progress through the woods.
It was slow, but no one seemed to mind. Izuru took this time to fully explain all that happened on their end. He had called the police upon reaching a place with good enough service. And once he confirmed they were on the way, Sonia left the men near the human house and retreated to the woods with Gundham. The naga and her human kept themselves concealed while Izuru dealt with the police. Statements and pictures were taken, then the trespassers were gone. Never to return if they learned their lesson. And given the state of fear they were in when Izuru found them, it was all but a guarantee they would think twice before trying anything again.
Hajime seemed very relieved by this. “Thank goodness for that. I never want to see their faces again. Not after what they did to Nagito. Repulsive behavior. How dare they hurt my naga,” Hajime muttered under his breath. It was quiet enough that most couldn’t hear the words spoken.
But Nagito heard it. And it made him grin. “Why Hajime. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you are getting a little possessive. But I am certainly not complaining,” he teased quietly, glancing down to the now blushing brunette.
“Don’t repeat that to anyone else. For your ears only. Got it?” the human directed, his voice trying to be firm, but not really accomplishing it.
Still, the naga nodded in agreement. “I can do that. Anything for you.”
The two fell silent not long after. A comfortable silence, where they simply enjoyed each other after everything. The calm after the storm.
So I was not sure if CountrygirlJade21 wanted big or small for this prompt. So I just chose one! And I chose smol!
And we get even more clinginess! I think people like it a lot. I do as well!
Not many notes this time cause my brain empty. So have fun!
At this moment in time, Nagito would surmise that he had been living with his human for several months now. And how wonderful those months had been. Every single one was amazing, with new discoveries and fascinating occurrences. All with his beloved Hajime.
He found himself thinking about this as he woke up and stared dreamily up at the large face in front of him. He had snuck over from his terrarium again during the night. And who could blame him for doing so? Hajime was warm and comfortable, not to mention a nice sight. So of course, he did it as often as he could.
But, in truth, that was not the entire reason he had come up this time. Something else had motivated him. Some strange instinct that he had never felt before instructed him to stay as close as possible to his beloved. And he was more than happy to listen to it. Which led to now, as the morning sun woke his human up. “Good morning! How was your sleep?” he cheerfully asked.
Hajime groaned and groggily opened his eyes. “Again? You have your own space, you know.” It was said in a neutral tone, so Nagito knew there was no annoyance.
“I know I do. But you are so much better!” he replied, moving so that he was resting on his crossed arms. He sighed wistfully as he stared, making Hajime roll his eyes with a blush.
“You are such a sap,” the human grumbled, reaching down and pinching the thickest part of the green tail to lift him off. In response, Nagito slithered in between his fingers and forming a complex knot. Now he couldn’t be shaken off. He grinned with his fangs in full view when he heard Hajime sigh. “Fine. You can stay there for a little.”
A little? Nagito wanted to stay the whole day. But he supposed that he could reposition eventually, provided that it didn’t take him far away from his beloved. He planned to not spend even a full minute away, and he was willing to use every method possible to ensure it. His instincts demanded it.
So he tightened his coils when Hajime yawned and sat up, stretching his arms above his head. Nagito felt as though he was on a ride, like the ones at those human amusement parks. Especially when the arms lowered again at a quick speed. The rush of adrenaline was so interesting to feel, and he liked it. Maybe he could ask Hajime to simulate a ride at another point in time. But not now, as the human had to prepare food.
This time, Nagito would partake in food as well. It had been two weeks since he last ate, and he was feeling a little peckish. The naga was very curious as to what would be made today. He very much enjoyed Hajime’s cooking. It was really a shame that he couldn’t enjoy it more. He had learned in the past that trying to eat even a bite everyday led to him feeling sick. So he stuck to his schedule, eating only after two weeks had passed. And today was the day.
What unfortunate timing, it was. But Nagito didn’t let it get him down. He could work around it.
He stayed glued to Hajime throughout the cooking process. He had to relocate to the human’s upper arm, climbing up in a well-practiced manner. Hajime didn’t seem to mind, and Nagito certainly didn’t mind. He could feel the muscles under his tail move with every action preformed, a very enjoyable sensation. It was a shame when he had to again relocate to the neck in order to be stable enough to eat. But at least he could feel the heartbeat.
Nagito knew that humans often found his method of eating off-putting, which is why he did it out of Hajime’s range of vision. Thankfully, today’s breakfast included small sausages, the perfect size for a naga. It was also very tasty, which made swallowing it quite easy. It was gone from sight in practically no time.
Grateful that his mouth was free again, he utilized his regained speech to ask a question. “What are your plans for today?”
Hajime took a second to reply. “I have to go to the library to work on a project. So I’ll need to be there for a few hours. Will you be alright on your own for that long?”
That sent a wave of panic through him, heightened by this strange instinct. “No! No, don’t leave me behind! Take me with you! Please!” he cried, hugging the human as best he could with his small arms.
His begging clearly shocked Hajime, who stiffened slightly. “Huh? What’s going on? You sound like your life is on the line.”
Nagito squeezed his arms and tail tighter. “It is! I must stay with you today!” he pleaded with desperation. “I’ll be quiet! I’ll be still! Just don’t go without me!”
“Okay! Okay! Calm down! You can come with me,” Hajime said in a voice laced with confusion.
Nagito instantly relaxed, rubbing his cheek against the brunette’s neck. “Thank you. Thank you. I am eternally grateful. This shall go into the book of greatest deeds ever performed. May countless blessings rain down upon you for-”
His speech was interrupted by a finger ruffling his hair. “I already told you to calm down. Don’t praise me that highly for a simple task. I don’t know what’s gotten into you all of a sudden, but I’ll let you work through it with assistance if you need me to.”
Feeling his cheeks redden a hint from embarrassment, the naga did rein in the heaps of praise threatening to spill forth more than it already had. So he settled for a more condensed response. “Thank you,” he repeated before drooping on the huge shoulders and closing his eyes. He had a full stomach and was with his beloved. He couldn’t ask for a more perfect scenario.
Hajime, ever so considerate, seemed to realize he was dozing. As such, he did his best to be silent in his movements. From getting dressed, gathering his required materials, and stepping outside to go to his destination. All was quiet. Especially when they entered the library.
It was as if they had entered a whole new world. Only the sound of rustling pages was audible. No voices, no music, no footsteps. It was so peaceful.
The naga was sure he would have loved to investigate and observe more. However, his meal and the satisfied instinct made it very hard to stay awake. So he ended up passing out for a few hours while Hajime worked on his project. It was a very restful nap and nothing disturbed him. Not until he felt something begin petting his hair and tail gently.
“Nagito? You’ve been asleep for a while. Time to wake back up.”
That was Hajime’s voice. The most wondrous of sounds. It coaxed the naga back into consciousness, flexing and stretching as he blinked his eyes open. They were back in the apartment.
“Oh… I didn’t see anything outside today. How… strange…” he noted as he yawned wide, his mouth seam splitting a bit. It settled back into place momentarily, fangs folding back up onto the roof of his mouth comfortably.
“Yeah, you were totally zonked out. Feeling better now? Clinginess subsided?” the brunette asked as he lowered one of the hands to set his bag back down.
Nagito reached over and grabbed ahold of the digit on his hair, hugging it tight. “Well, if I say yes to that question, then it would be a lie! I’ll always be clingy for you!” He did take a moment to evaluate his instincts. It was there, but far more muted. He thought it was slowly disappearing as the day went on. “But as for what I know you are referring to, I think it’s almost over. Just a little more and it should be gone.”
Hajime hummed as he returned to the kitchen to make a snack. “Have you gone through this before? Some strange naga thing?”
Nagito shook his head. “I must admit that I am not quite sure what it is. I’ve never had this happen before. Though, I do recall having a day of extreme loneliness around this time in years past. Perhaps it has changed now that I have someone precious to me.”
He felt the skin heat up under him, informing him of the human’s blushing. “O-oh. I… I see. Well, I’m glad you are doing better now.”
Nagito again hugged the human as best he could, smiling wide. “Oh, yes. I am doing just fine. More than fine.”
A suggestion from sweet hearts cakery! A very cute idea for sure!
A staple of many fics with vast size differences. Wondering how it would be if they were similar heights. Both angsty and cute at the same time. Though I’d say this is more on the cute side.
Hey you!!! Yes, you!!! I need your ideas! Please share them with me!
While the twins were preparing and consuming a wonderful smelling dinner at the human’s home, Nagito found himself lying out in the grassy open area and staring up at the sky. He had turned himself so that he was laying on his back, gold belly scales facing up and his head resting against the soft dirt. He never tired of watching the stars, a gorgeous painting of light on a dark canvas.
He loved it when the moon was full and no clouds were present. Such a pretty sight with all the stars. He heard from Sonia that other places closer to human cities didn’t have as good of a view. Something about artificial light. But he didn’t care to analyze the reason for it. He just considered himself immensely lucky to be blessed with his forest and its natural treasures.
The only thing that was unfortunate was that he was alone to see this. Sonia and Gundham were at the eccentric human’s residence in the woods and the twins were occupied in the brunette’s home. And while he understood that humans fed themselves much differently than his kind, he couldn’t help the loneliness. His life partner was in a place he couldn’t reach. And a thought popped into his mind, one that was not new. What would life be like if he was smaller? If they were of similar sizes? Would their relationship be different?
He shut his green eyes, taking a deep breath and releasing it. The calm and stillness were encouraging his body to doze off. And he saw no reason to refuse the call. So he slowly drifted away, his last waking thoughts entirely on his human.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Nagito. It’s time to get up.”
The naga groaned and buried his face in his arms, wanting to continue his rest.
“Come now, don’t be so stubborn. It’s late morning. You can’t sleep the day away.”
The voice above him kept insisting. But not yet! He was still very sleepy.
“I see. Guess I have no choice but to do this.”
Nagito jolted as he felt someone card their hands through his hair. Nails gently scratched at his scalp, making him let out happy noises in response. “Feels… nice…” he sleepily whispered, tilting his head for a better angle.
“Glad you think so. Maybe you can have more of you get up and come with me.”
It was tempting, so very tempting. He guessed it wouldn’t hurt to do as the voice said if he got more head scratches. So he slowly blinked his eyes open, adjusting to the light. Though once the haziness cleared, he shot up suddenly. “Hajime? Wait, why are you…?”
The brunette tilted his head eyebrow raised. “Why am I what?” he asked, at eye level with the naga.
Nagito wasn’t able to reply for a few moments. Hajime… was the same size as a naga? Or was he now more human-sized? He still was in his normal body, as he felt and saw his emerald tail. But somehow, there was no massive size difference. Magic? A different universe? Or something else?
Whatever the reason, he did not care. This was an opportunity that he would not waste. “Nothing. Pay no mind to my earlier question. Can you please lead the way? I’m still sleepy and need a handsome, reliable guide to help me.”
Hajime rolled his eyes with a blush. “If you really want me to, I can’t say no. Come on, let’s go,” he said as he held a hand out. Nagito stared at the hand, slowly slotting his own on top of it. So similar in size now. His were only slightly longer, but he was able to grab hold without fear. He squeezed the hand, smiling when he felt a squeeze back. Hajime laughed a bit. “You’re acting like you haven’t held my hand before. Do you like doing it that much?”
Nagito squeezed again, meeting the hazel eyes. “I would never tire of holding your hand. All the touches we share are special.”
“I think so, too.” Hajime tugged on his hand, silently requesting for the naga to follow him. To which Nagito was more than happy to do so. They traveled through the house they were in, though Nagito didn’t recognize any of the decorations or furniture. It was as if they were in a totally different house. But he didn’t pay it much mind, as he was enjoying this so much.
They finally reached a large open room, with a few chairs and a tv on the wall. “Here. We can relax in this room together.”
Nagito smirked as he moved in closer. “Hajime. Did you wake me up only to relocate me to this room? Did you perhaps miss my company?”
Hajime rolled his eyes, though his cheeks were still tinted red. “And what if I did? Are you complaining?”
The white hair bounced as Nagito shook his head. “Not at all. It’s perfect.” Then he finally went for it, something he had wanted to do for so very long. He wound his arms around the human’s body, hugging him tight. “It’s just as wonderful as I imagined. I’ll never forget this feeling,” he whispered to himself, closing his eyes and nuzzling into Hajime’s neck.
He felt the human’s strong arms wind around his back, one on his upper back and the other tracing the area where skin met scales. “Clingy, aren’t you? But I can’t blame you. I’m crazy about you, too.”
Nagito sighed blissfully, lowering both himself and his beloved onto the floor. He laid him down on his coils, making sure he was comfortable as he did. “This okay?” he still asked.
Hajime began petting his locks again. “Couldn’t wait til we got to the couch? I’m fine with that.”
Nagito leaned into the scritches, whining happily. “So good. I love whenever you do this. No matter what size.”
“Size?” Hajime questioned, though his hands didn’t stop their movements in his hair.
Nagito opened his eyes slightly. “I know this isn’t my reality. I’m dreaming. And it’s a truly wonderful dream. When I wake up, you will be different. But only in size. You are just as sweet and caring as my Hajime. Truly, I am the luckiest naga in the world.”
Dream Hajime hummed. “Glad to hear that you think so highly of me. But now that you know this is a dream, do you want to awaken?”
Nagito shook his head, clinging tight. “Not yet. Let me indulge in this feeling for a little longer.”
“As you wish.”
~~~~~~~~~~
Nagito didn’t keep track of how much time passed in the dream world. All he really remembered was being softly pulled away from the embrace by a warm light. It had been so comforting, so he didn’t fight it. The next thing he knew, he was opening his eyes in the real world. And he was delighted when he felt and saw his Hajime petting his hair. Though he did have to strain his arms a bit to reach.
His beloved did notice his consciousness, lowering his arms and resting them on his cheek. “Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you. We didn’t mean to take so long. You can go back to sleep. I just wanted to come check on you.”
He was so small compared to the naga. Not even taller than his shortest finger. But somehow, in this small body, there was so much kindness. So much care. It made his heart beat like crazy.
Carefully, Nagito used his hand to hug the human to his cheek. He wanted to say one thing before falling back asleep. “No matter what bodies the universe places us in, be it big or small, same or different species, I know one thing for certain. You are the one I love the most. Please don’t forget that.” He let his hand fall away and he closed his eyes, drifting off into a dreamless sleep. He looked forward to the next morning, when he could see his beloved again.
This one has been on the list for a while. And I haven’t done it until now for a very special reason. I’m sure you will find out what that reason is very soon.
Edit: the reason.
But yeah, this one made my cold dead heart happy. Pets and snuggles galore! But who exactly is getting and giving these pets and snuggles? Read and find out!
Enough rambling, Naga time!
Nagito recalled all he had said the previous night with perfect clarity. He knew he had finally told Hajime verbally and explicitly that he ‘loved’ him. And because of previous reactions to his advances, he was sure that the brunette would need a little time to process this. Probably in his home on his own. So Nagito didn’t fret when morning came and Hajime was nowhere to be seen.
But that didn’t stop him from inquiring about him to his twin. “I trust he is doing alright in there. Flustered?”
Izuru had come out with a mug of tea, ready for the day with his hair tied back. “Correct. I suspect he didn’t expect your boldness. Though he really should have seen this coming.”
“Ah, so he told you? Do you approve?” the naga asked, tilting his head.
“I do. You are a good match for him. Though I might not feel those kinds of sensations myself, I understand that this makes my brother happy. And that’s all I want to see.”
Nagito smiled, his fangs in view. “I appreciate it. It means so much to hear that from you. I’ll do my best to ensure he continues to be happy.”
Izuru nodded. “See that you do.”
A few moments passed between them, Izuru taking a sip of his tea. Then Nagito backed up a bit to begin ascending. “I will need to go scent the border of my forest today. I shall be back by your lunchtime. Could you tell Hajime this? And tell him not to worry.”
The red eyed human hummed as he watched the giant creature rise above him. “Very well. I’ll inform him. I expect he will be anxiously awaiting your return. Travel safe.”
With a small wave, Nagito began slithering away to his forest. He kept his smile up even as he faced away and when he crossed the forest boundary. How could he not? He was so happy. And he didn’t think much could bring his mood down.
And he was correct. The hours he spent navigating through his woods were full of positive feelings as he accomplished his set task. He tried to be thorough in his scenting ever since the clash with the gray naga. And it seemed to have worked with keeping more potentially dangerous creatures at bay. Sonia was the exception, as she had proved to be a valuable friend. But he was fulfilling his promise to his beloved, making sure his territory was properly marked.
He had nearly finished by early afternoon, proud of himself for the speed and efficiency of his work. He couldn’t wait to boast to the humans of his good job and receive the well deserved praise. However, his premature celebration was interrupted by a strange scent. One he had never encountered before.
He lowered himself to the ground, silencing all movements as he observed. What could this creature be? And so close to the human road, too. Not many creatures dared to come this far, so he was perplexed by this creature’s choice in location. Although, the scent seemed to get stronger by the second, indicating that it was approaching. It smelled young, so most likely not a threat. So Nagito simply waited and watched.
Sure enough, the creature came bounding through the bushes, bumping into his face with a startled whimper.
Blinking in surprise, Nagito pulled back to observe what had run into him. It looked like… a dog? At least, that’s what he thought it was from Hajime’s previous descriptions of the species. It was light brown and quite small, so it was probably a puppy. It didn’t look to have any injuries and was walking just fine. In fact, it’s composure was fine as well. It barked excitedly, wagging its tail at a rapid pace as it looked at him.
“No fear, huh? You certainly are a brave little one,” Nagito whispered. His voice excited the puppy more, who ran up to him and placed its paws on his cheek. It reached forward and licked him over and over again. And just like that, Nagito found himself completely endeared to the young dog.
“You are… so adorable. I love you already. Hey, how about you come with me to Hajime’s house? There’s food and water there,” he asked the puppy, receiving a happy yap in response.
He was grateful that the forest edge wasn’t far away. Only a few minutes of traveling. The puppy wasn’t exhausted by the time they made it. The little one had eagerly followed him, keeping up while yipping. And soon, both the naga and the puppy were in the sunlight. Glancing over to the human’s home, he saw both of the twins out on the patio. And they had for sure noticed him.
Once he was close enough, he waved to them. “Please come over! I have someone for you to meet!”
This piqued their interests, so they put down their drinks and made their way over, though Izuru kept ahold of his yogurt container. Both widened their eyes in surprise when they saw the brown puppy running around the naga.
“Nagito, where did you find a puppy?” Hajime asked with bewilderment. It seemed like this event had overridden the possibility to be flustered.
“It was near the fence line that is close to the road! I’m not sure why. I couldn’t smell any more dogs. So I think it was on its own.”
Izuru and Hajime exchanged a very quick glance, as if they knew something. But Izuru returned his gaze to the puppy who was now at their feet. “May I do a quick examination? I would like to determine its health and overall condition.”
Nagito nodded, lowering himself onto his stomach again. “Please do! I want to make sure it’s okay.”
Thus, Izuru got to work. He looked over the puppy with a keen eye, petting it and allowing it to eat his yogurt while doing so. Hajime joined the naga while this was going on, leaning against the soft cheek. “What to do now? I didn’t think this would ever occur while living here.”
Nagito raised one of his hands to hug the human to his cheek. “Can we keep it? Please? It’s so cute and friendly! Can it stay with us? Please? Please?” he begged, doing his best to convince the human.
Hajime’s cheeks reddened at the closeness, which he would have teased about if he wasn’t pleading to keep the puppy. But his efforts paid off, as Hajime sighed. “I… guess we can. Izuru and I can go get supplies in a bit.” He looked over to his brother, who had allowed the puppy to run back over to them. “What’s the diagnosis?”
Izuru brushed the dirt off his knees before standing. “A wolf dog. Female. No sign of injuries or illnesses. A bit underweight, but not dangerously so. A good temperament, too. And she clearly feels comfortable around people, be it human or naga.”
“A little girl, huh? A precious sweetheart. Yes, you are,” Nagito cooed, carefully petting the soft fur with a finger. In response, the puppy flopped over onto her back, exposing her belly for more pets.
Hajime laughed a bit, joining him in petting the puppy. “So, now that she’s going to be living with us, what shall we call her?”
Nagito hummed as he pulled his hand back slightly to curl around the wolf dog. “I don’t know! Can you choose for me?”
“What? You’re making me choose. Ugh… I’m bad at this kinda stuff. But fine. Hmmm…” Hajime repositioned himself so that he was laying in the shawl, getting comfortable as he thought. The puppy rolled back onto her feet, jumping up to lick his face. The brunette laughed a bit as he pulled the dog off of him. “Huh, she has a clover sticking out of her fur. And it’s a four leaf clover. Man, she’s just as lucky as you. Oh wait. That’s an option. What about Clover as a name?”
“Clover. It’s very cute. Very fitting for our little girl,” Nagito said cheerfully. “You are now Clover, and this is your new home.”
The puppy barked and spun in a circle. She clearly was overjoyed.
Izuru cleared his throat from where he was standing. “The name is finalized, correct? Then I shall go procure the necessary items from the store. I have memorized her sizes and shall have a collar made for her. Hajime, you may stay here and bond with Clover. I shall head out now.” The raven haired human turned abruptly and headed to his car, getting in and driving off with no additional words.
The three watched his car disappear, a bit surprised, but not too shocked. This was typical Izuru behavior. So they settled back down, relaxing in the warm sun.
“Thank you, Hajime. I feel like we are building a little family now. It makes me so happy,” Nagito spoke quietly, watching as Clover wiggled her way under his hand and popped her little face up close to his nose.
“Y-yeah. I'm glad you are.” Hajime pet the neck near him tenderly, the motions so soft and full of care. “Hey, about what you said last night… I do feel the same. I just… can’t say it aloud as easily. Give me some time, I’ll try to work up to it, okay?”
Nagito’s smile grew so wide. “This moment could not be more perfect. I am truly the luckiest naga. And yes, I can wait forever. Please take your time. I’ll be here.”
Hajime pet his skin a final time before relaxing back into the shawl around him. He would likely fall asleep there, as he had in the past. Nagito was more than fine with this. He had his treasures here with him, both of which loved him back. He couldn’t possibly ask for more. So he too relaxed, closing his eyes as his family soaked up the sun’s warmth.
Time to go to the aqua zoo! Along with smol snek!!! Who has the most devious of plots. Hehehe.
Another suggestion from @bobasriduur! You got lots of good ideas, my friend. Thank ya for all the help!
And you can send me ideas as well! Just comment down below!
Nagito pet the head of his tiger and plesiosaur plushes in his terrarium with a smile. He tried to make sure that they were always clean and presentable, even though only he and Hajime were going to see them. But he still did it, as he loved his space and possessions to be clean.
He was grateful that Hajime also tried to keep his apartment clean. He wasn’t sure what would have happened if his human was a messy person. Seeing the mess and not being able to clean would have driven him crazy. But he was fortunate, a fact he reminded himself of every day.
Currently, Hajime was on his bed, typing stuff on his laptop. The naga wasn’t sure exactly what he was doing. Could be homework, could be something else. It didn’t matter too much to him, as he was at an angle where he could watch him work. And he could see Hajime’s expression change every so often from the comfort of his terrarium with his stuffed animals. It was wonderful to witness.
But he would admit that he had a bit of a selfish desire. He wanted more; more stuffed animals to fill his area. But he wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted yet, and he didn’t want to drain Hajime’s wallet. So he would have to grow his collection with strategic moves over time.
Luckily for him, a potential opportunity presented itself to him. “Hey, it looks like there’s an aquarium nearby. There’s a sale on tickets. Want to go?”
“An aquarium? That’s like the zoo, right? But just for aquatic animals,” Nagito asked, getting excited. Not just because of the potential of new plushies, of course. He actually was interested in learning more about the world’s species. And anything he did outside the apartment with his human was fantastic.
“Yeah, that’s right. I’m assuming you are on board with this. We can go tomorrow afternoon.” Hajime glanced over top of his laptop to see the naga, a half-smile present.
“Yes! I’m excited to go!” Nagito replied, hugging his tiger’s neck in happiness. Tomorrow, yes, he could wait that long. An adventure awaited, and he looked forward to it.
~~~~~~~~~~
Time passed. And soon, the new day was upon them. Which meant that their plans could commence.
This conclusion was running through Nagito’s mind as he laid coiled around the human’s neck while he traveled to the aquarium. He didn’t bother to try and hide, knowing that he was safe to be out and in sight. And everyone around them were being respectful, with no one trying to approach to ask questions. He watched with observant eyes as Hajime walked, interested in all the sights they passed. But none could compare to the actual aquarium building. Decorations depicting coral reefs and some of its inhabitants were on display, indicating what could be found inside. The walls of the building were also painted with marine life. It was all so colorful. He couldn’t wait to see these animals in real life.
And maybe perhaps get one in stuffed animal form, but that would come later.
For now, he gazed at everything. He hardly registered Hajime presenting the tickets and speaking with the other humans. He was too enraptured with looking at everything.
Then they entered the first room with the giant tank.
Every ounce of air was stolen from his lungs when he first laid eyes upon it. It was so enormous, with all sorts of colorful creatures happily swimming around. So many shapes and sizes. It was nearly impossible to count every individual animal inside. “It’s so beautiful. I could watch this for hours,” Nagito whispered.
Hajime heard him and replied. “I could, too. It’s truly something special.”
The two fell silent as they watched the fish swim around for a good ten minutes. But eventually, Hajime tapped on the green tail. “Hey, there’s more areas we can go see. There’s a lot more animals they have living here.”
Nagito looked up at his human, shocked. “They have more? More than what’s in here?”
Hajime grinned, amused by his reaction. “Oh yeah. There’s a lot more. Let’s go see them.”
And so they left the enormous tank behind to see the others who were in their own enclosures. And Nagito was astounded by every single one. The jellyfish that floated around in their cylindrical tank. The horseshoe crabs that he got to touch. The eels that poked their heads out of their pots to look at him. The turtles, both freshwater and saltwater varieties, and their colorful shells.
But none impressed Nagito more than the octopus. The way it moved and looked were already impressive enough, but it also changed its patterns and colors right before their eyes! He didn’t think that was actually possible! “What an amazing creature. So unique and talented,” he found himself whispering, entranced by the octopus.
He felt Hajime move his head to glance down at him. And he also felt the muscles in his neck move as the human smiled. “It really is. It’s one of my favorite sea creatures.”
“I think it’s mine, too.” Nagito squeezed his coils in excitement at a new thought. “I wonder if they sell stuffed animal versions of the octopi. What colors would they choose to make them?”
Hajime caught on. “I bet you are going to ask me to buy you an octopus plush. Am I right?”
Nagito looked up without an ounce of shame. “We simply must bring home a souvenir to help remind us of our time here! And I choose to get an octopus. Simple as that.”
The brunette rolled his eyes, though he still was smiling. “I swear, you are the most spoiled naga.”
Having just gotten confirmation that he was indeed getting his prize, he thanked the human with a neck hug. “Perhaps I am. But I am nonetheless grateful to my Hajime for his kindness and generosity.”
He wasn’t fooled by the human’s indifferent huff, as he could feel the skin heat up under his touch. “Fine. We can go to the gift shop. But only one thing, got it?”
“Understood.” Nagito rose and gave Hajime’s cheek a nuzzle. “Thank you.”
The human certainly turned red at that, making the people around them grin at the sight. Hajime tried to calm himself down and walk away, ignoring the knowing giggles of the other visitors. He had managed to make the blush mostly disappear by the time they arrived in the gift shop. Several different types of items were for sale including clothing, home and lawn decorations, toys, and books. But Nagito had his sights trained on a specific section. The rows and rows of stuffed animals. And to his delight, there were indeed some octopi for sale.
But then came his dilemma. Which color should he choose? There were so many options, but he was limited to one. So what color did he like the best?
As he agonized, he was barely aware that Hajime was moving, arm stretching to grab something. He didn’t have to wait long until the reason was revealed.
“This one was kinda hidden on top. I wonder why it was in a different area. Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. What do you think?”
And now, before his eyes, was an octopus with rainbow fabric. The colors swirled and mixed perfectly, creating a beautiful pattern. “That’s the one. I shall choose this octopus,” Nagito declared, reaching out to pet the head.
“Alright. It’s yours,” Hajime replied, beginning to head to the register. “You will have to make room for it in your terrarium. Better start planning.”
“Oh, don’t you worry. I already have a plan in mind,” the naga said cheekily. His tail tip swayed with happiness as he watched the rainbow octopus be lowered into a paper bag. Yes, he was pleased with today. New memories and a new friend had been made. He couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

Snakes and humans and a wolf dog puppy! What a combo. What will they do?
Have a fun time, that’s what!
But yeah, Clover is gonna be a new regular in the giant naga chapters. Must give pupper all the love! She deserves it, I tells ya!
Hajime found himself once again needing to get used to a new constant in his life that he hadn’t initially prepared for. That being Clover, the newest edition to the household and forest. But he was happily surprised when it didn’t take much effort, as the tan wolf dog puppy was very well behaved for him.
She took to life in a house very quickly. She didn’t break or chew anything she wasn’t supposed to. She only barked when excited and was respectful of the rules. All around, she was practically the perfect dog.
She also loved running around the woods with Nagito. The naga had reported similar good behavior whenever she went with him. Clover always stayed close, never straying too far from her snake parent. She would smell the various plants and landmarks, but never attempted to eat anything. So both Hajime and Nagito felt no worries with her running ahead of them on their forest adventures.
So she of course went along with them as they all went to the expansive flower field to meet up with Sonia and Gundham. They had also dragged Izuru along, so the whole gang was there.
The main focus was, of course, Clover. Sonia and Gundham had cooed over her as soon as they saw her. But, to the more eccentric human’s dismay, she didn’t stay for very long at their side. Clover instead chose to stay near Hajime and Nagito, displaying who her preferred people were. Gundham had sulked briefly, Sonia claiming that this was the first time he hadn’t been an animal’s automatic favorite. Hajime and Nagito reigned in their snickers, not wanting to offend their friend.
And so time passed in the field. It was primarily spent playing and petting the puppy, who was overjoyed with all the attention. But eventually, she tired out. She crawled under one of Nagito’s large hands, flopping onto her side and panting herself to sleep.
Hajime stretched under to gently ruffle the fur on her head. She let out a doggy sigh, relaxing under the shade the naga was making. After confirming she was doing fine, he returned out into the open. Stretching his arms above his head, he glanced around to see what Izuru was doing. And to his surprise, he saw his brother carefully weaving the stems of some flowers into a crown.
“I didn’t know you knew how to do that,” Hajime found himself saying, attracting his twin’s attention.
Izuru scoffed. “Of course I know how to make them.”
Nagito leaned down, reptilian eyes gazing over the humans’ shoulders. “Wow. How pretty! Is it a crown made of flowers?”
Both of the twins looked up. “Yes, it is. Perhaps if you request it of him, maybe Hajime can learn to make one for you.”
Hajime rolled his eyes at his brother for planting that idea into the naga’s mind, as the green eyes stared pleadingly down at him. “You will, won’t you?” the larger creature asked while gently nudging the smaller body with his other hand.
Having fallen completely into the trap, Hajime felt slightly resigned as he agreed. “Okay. Izuru, teach me how to make them.”
“I would like to acquire this knowledge as well, powerful one,” Gundham chimed in, walking close and sitting down close to the other humans. Sonia followed behind, laying down next to Nagito to watch the process.
Seeing he had an attentive audience, the raven haired man nodded. “Very well. Let us begin.”
And so the lesson started. Flowers were plucked and carefully woven together to make a circular band. Hajime and Gundham picked up the technique right away, which was not terribly surprising considering who their teacher was. The nagas constantly praised their work, entranced as the crowns were slowly made.
Soon, all three humans had completed natural circlets in their hands. Hajime and Gundham held them up to admire, amazed that they were able to create them.
“Those are so cute! You did so good,” Nagito complimented, gently touching it with a claw.
That’s when Hajime got an idea. Well, two ideas. But he was able to do one of them right then and there. He grabbed hold of Nagito’s finger and slid the crown on. “Here, you can have it. It looks nicer on you.”
The pale cheeks darkened with a blush. “Are… are you sure? You worked so hard on it! And you’re giving it to me?”
“Of course. I can always make another now that I know how.” The brunette then looked over to his brother with a curious expression. “Although, it is a shame that it’s not big enough to fit your head. I wonder…”
His twin caught on very fast. “I suppose it’s possible. Allow me to assist.” He stretched his arm out to place his flower crown on the sleeping dog before returning to his original position. “We are fortunate in this field having plenty to work with.”
Nagito was far too distracted to take notice of their work, staring down at his new flower ring. And Sonia was very much in the same boat, admiring Gundham’s gift and sweet words to her. So Hajime and Izuru went undisturbed in their task. Which partially surprised Hajime, considering how long it took them.
But finish it, they did. The brunette let out a triumphant shout once the last flower was in place. “It’s done!!!”
Izuru sent a tiny, almost invisible smile his way. “Yes, it is.”
This small exchange of words attracted Nagito’s attention, who had been zoned out while petting Clover’s side. “Huh? What happened?” he asked, glancing back down to them. He let out a surprised gasp when he saw the completed project though. A flower crown, but this one significantly larger than the others. “Is that…?”
“Yes, it’s for you. Hopefully it’s big enough. Want to try it on?” Hajime confirmed, lifting part of the crown as a gesture.
“I would love to!” the naga exclaimed, happiness very evident in his voice.
It made Hajime’s cheeks redden a bit. “Lower your head a little more so Izuru and I can help put it on.”
Nagito did so instantly, cheeks also a bit pink. Together, the humans carefully dragged the floral construction over the snowy hair, doing their best to not break the fragile crown. But they were successful, and Nagito was soon adorned with the pretty blooms. Hajime patted the cheek once it was in place. “It’s on. You look wonderful.”
Nagito rose a little, tucking a stray lock behind his ear. “You… think so? I’m so happy!”
Hajime had to force his heart to not explode from the scene in front of him. It was almost too much for him to handle. It was way too cute. “N-no problem. I’m glad… you like it.”
“I don’t just like it. I love it!” Nagito then got a kiss attack from Clover, who had woken up from the noises. “Look, we match now!”
With Nagito distracted again, Hajime took this opportunity to take a picture of the two. He smiled as he examined it, making it his new Lock Screen photo.
“I take it you are pleased with the result, too?” Izuru asked, a smirk present now.
But the brunette was in too good of a mood to care. “I am. It was worth all the effort if it makes him that happy.”
“Is that right? Well, I’m glad you both approve.” He patted Hajime’s shoulder. “Good work, brother. And keep it up.”
Hajime pocketed his phone and returned to looking at the naga and wolf dog. “Yeah, I will for sure.”

ErrandBoyTV was the one to suggest this one! And boy oh boy it was cute.
Will Hajime ever stop spoiling his little naga? Oh heck no. It’s his life mission now.
Also, sorry Kaz. You make it too easy for the snek.
Hajime could easily trace the exact path of events that lead to him beginning a weeks long scavenger hunt in his own apartment. Oh yeah, it was not hard to recall what had led him to this.
It all began with a quick trip to a craft store as requested by Kazuichi. His friend had requested assistance on gathering materials for a new project and Hajime had figured he could tag along for moral support and to be an extra set of arms.
It was at the store that he had spotted them, sitting innocently on a shelf in an aisle they were in. A box of mini pencils, thin and delicate. Practically the perfect size for a certain someone he knew. So Hajime had grabbed it, knowing it would be adored by the recipient.
Sure enough, the gift was received very well. Nagito had been astounded and overjoyed by the present, pulling each individual pencil out and looking them over with wonder in his eyes. To the human’s surprise, he didn’t use them right away, instead dedicating the rest of the evening to hugging and expressing his gratitude. Which Hajime had no issues with; he liked those sessions, too.
The next day, Hajime had cut up sheets of paper and had laid them out for Nagito to try his new pencils out on. The naga got to work instantly, eyes focused on his task as he practiced writing and drawing. It worked as a great distraction as Kazuichi had swung by to show off pictures of his project to his friend.
“It’s coming along super well! The parts we got yesterday were exactly what I needed. Thanks for the help, by the way. You are the greatest soul-friend a man could have!”
Hajime had rolled his eyes at the dramatic declaration, but still nodded with a supportive smile. “No problem. Glad to help.”
Kazuichi grinned before putting his phone away. “So what are your plans for the rest of the day? Studying? Or something fun?”
“He is to provide me with love and attention, if you must know,” Nagito spoke up, drawing the humans’ gazes to him. The tone changed in a second once the naga shifted his full attention to the brunette. “Look, Hajime! I was able to draw a clover! Do you like it?”
He was sure that his cheeks were a bit red from the words, but he again nodded. “Looks fantastic. You got the hang of that pretty fast.” Hajime had then smirked. “Are you going to now turn into the doting partner who leaves little notes everywhere?”
But his joke had ignited some fire in Nagito, green eyes filled with inspiration. “What an absolutely wonderful idea! Yes! I shall!” He then turned his sharp gaze to the other human. “And you shall assist me in this task.”
Kazuichi looked down, terrified. “What?! Me? Why?”
Nagito scoffed. “Because if Hajime helps me with this, it’ll ruin the surprise. Now come on! We have work to do!”
And so, under the strict guidance of Nagito, Kazuichi had become the naga’s temporary assistant in scattering the notes around. The naga had gone with the pink haired human, instructing him on where to place the various bits of paper. Meanwhile, Hajime just sat back on his chair, sipping water and listening to the nervous chatter from his friend.
Which led to now, as a very frazzled and stiff Kazuichi returned to the living room, nearly collapsing onto the couch. “Can I be free now? Are we finally finished?”
The naga, who had been clinging to his wrist with tight coils, sighed. “I suppose we can be. I’ll release you now.” Nagito loosened his hold and slithered onto the plush cushions, making use of their angle to ascend to the couch’s armrest. “It is done, Hajime! We hid them all around the apartment. But don’t go looking for them yet! Wait until later, okay?”
“Fine, fine. I won’t, I promise,” Hajime assured, reaching over to offer a hand to the naga. He felt the smooth scaly tail quickly make contact, crossing his arm and reaching his shoulder in no time. “You are spoiled rotten. You know that right?” he asked as he felt Nagito get comfortable on his shoulder.
“You like spoiling me. Don’t deny it,” was the reply.
Hajime huffed, not admitting out loud that it was true.
Kazuichi groaned from the couch. “If y’all are gonna be mushy, I might as well see myself out. Hajime, you should definitely come by my place next time. I can show you my progress in person that way!” The pink haired human stood up and made for the door, pulling his shoes back on.
Hajime smiled at his friend. “Sounds like a plan. I can’t wait to see it. Good luck!” he called out, getting an enthusiastic thumbs-up before his friend exited the apartment.
“It’s just us now. What bliss,” Nagito muttered dreamily, nuzzling and sighing contently.
“You say that as if we don’t spend a good majority of time together,” Hajime pointed out, though he did nothing to stop the naga’s actions. “By the way, can you try and be nicer to Kaz? Or at least tone down the sternness? He’s already apologized a hundred times for grabbing you that one time. And we both know he’s not brave enough to ever try that again.”
Nagito hummed in thought, making the note last several seconds. “I suppose I can try. Though I make no promises.”
“Just keep it in mind the next time you see him, okay? For me?” He knew that last part would get him somewhere. If Nagito was allowed to play him like a fiddle with sweet words, he would do the same.
“For you? Anything.” Sure enough, it worked. “But enough about him, let’s get back to the main focus! My notes to you. I’m going to set rules that you can only find and read one per day. Draw it out as long as you can. Then I can hide them all over again once all have been discovered!”
Hajime laughed a bit. “Alright, I suppose I can do that. But how many did you hide?” he asked as he took a sip from his glass.
“45.”
Hajime nearly choked on his water. “45? That many? How did you make that many?”
He felt Nagito hug his neck. “Determination for my one and only, obviously. As I said, anything for you.”
It now was very apparent that Hajime had quite a task ahead of him. One he was eager to do.

Time for a fun summertime game! Time to teach the naga and puppy what a sprinkler is!
You know, I can’t honestly recall the last time I have played in a sprinkler. I mostly went swimming in pools to cool off. I should get my friends together and just do it one day. I bet the dogs would love it too.
Also also, if you haven’t seen it already, look at this.
And this!
Hajime hoisted the final bag onto the table, grunting with effort and panting briefly once it was set down. “Could you have picked anything heavier, Izuru? Sometimes I feel like you are trying to rip my arms off with your selections.” he complained loudly.
His twin snorted with a smirk, easily setting down three other bags that had weighed more than the single one Hajime had been able to carry. “Perhaps you need to practice more and build up arm strength. That way you can accomplish much more in terms of house upkeep and outside cleanup.”
Hajime rolled his eyes. “Oh please. I have a partner who can lift up boulders taller than us in a second. There is little need for me to become a bodybuilder.”
Izuru smirked. “Fair enough. Changing the subject, you will be happy to know that was the last of the bags. We can begin sorting and organizing the purchases now.”
“Fine,” Hajime relented, plunging his hands into the closest bag to begin. And so began the boring task of replenishing his house. He was secretly grateful that he had his brother there to assist, as it definitely cut down on the time he would have had to do it if he was by himself.
Needless to say, the pile of bags rapidly began disappearing with each item that was put away. Soon there were only a few left, which was incredibly relieving. But his relief turned to confusion as he pulled out a box from a bag. One for a sprinkler system, something he did not recall grabbing. “Hey, Izuru? What’s the deal with this?” he asked, holding the box higher.
His brother looked over, recognizing the box. “It is summertime. Hot and muggy. So I thought you might want to have that to help keep your yard watered during the intense sun.” He pointed over his shoulder to the dog bed, where Clover was chewing on a toy. “And perhaps provide some entertainment to those who aren’t aware of it. Not only her, but a certain neighbor of yours.”
Hajime picked up what Izuru was implying. “Yeah, I’m sure they would love it.” He repositioned the box under his arm and headed to the patio door. “I’ll go see if I can hook this up. Can you finish putting away the groceries?”
“Of course,” his twin called out, confident as always.
Hajime rolled his eyes as he stepped out, getting hit with the heat pretty much instantly. But he did his best to ignore it, walking over to the hose on the side of his house. As he opened the box, he heard a jingling noise approach. And soon, a wet snout poked his cheek. He smiled and pet the puppy near him, getting a happy tail wag. “This is for you and Nagito to enjoy. Can you hold on for a little longer? I think you will like it a lot.”
Clover licked his face before backing up and sitting next to him. He couldn’t help reaching over and petting her head before focusing on his task. Somehow, he was able to figure it out and finish before Izuru had come outside.
“Successful, are we?” the raven haired man asked, leaning up against the house with his arms crossed.
Hajime shot him a fake glare before standing back up. “Yes, I got it working. So there’s no need for you to employ your handyman skills today.”
Izuru snorted. “We shall see. But in any case, Nagito is approaching. Best get things set in place quickly.”
Turning his head, the brunette saw that his brother was right. The emerald naga had emerged from the tree line and was heading their way. Luckily, Hajime had a good distraction tactic. “Clover, look! Go get him!” he instructed, pointing in Nagito’s direction.
The wolf dog followed his finger, barking excitedly when she caught sight of the naga. She took off like a bullet, speeding through the grass towards the giant creature while yipping. She reached Nagito in no time, attracting his attention. “Well hello, sweetheart! Did you come to greet me?”
Seeing that Nagito had been sufficiently distracted, Hajime relaxed as he set the sprinkler up in the yard. It was far enough away from the house that it wouldn’t damage anything. So he felt confident in turning the hose on and retreating to the patio chairs and table. He joined Izuru, who had already taken a seat with cups of lemonade prepared. “Overachiever,” Hajime teased as he took one of the glasses.
“Lovestruck sap,” Izuru fired back.
The twins rolled their eyes with smiles, too used to the sibling banter. They didn’t bother moving even as Nagito and Clover arrived, the dog looking proud as if she had been the one leading Nagito back to the house. Hajime still stroked her head as a form of thanks. “Good girl. You found him.”
The naga settled down on the warm grass, resting his hands on his crossed arms. “She is a good girl. In fact, I’d argue that she is the best girl. No one will change my mind,” he stated confidently.
“I’d wager that I’d agree on that,” Hajime said, conjuring a large smile to grow on the naga’s face. After giving one last scratch behind the puppy’s ears, he pointed over to where he had set the sprinkler up. Right as he did, the water had finally finished traveling through the hose, setting off the sprinkler.
Both naga and puppy were initially startled by the sudden noise. But curiosity won out and they both moved closer to investigate. Clover reached her face out and attempted to bite at the water stream. She must have enjoyed the sensation as she barked happily and began chasing the water back and forth.
Nagito leaned in closer as well, trying to see where the water was coming from. Luckily, the black material stood out from the green grass so it wasn’t too difficult to find. He reached down and felt the water hit his skin. He smiled wide in wonder, especially when Clover began chasing it. “A device that sprays water without you needing to control it? Fascinating! What is this called?” he asked when he briefly glanced over to the humans.
Hajime leaned back in his chair, getting comfortable. It definitely would take some effort to get out of this position, but he didn’t care at the moment. “It’s a sprinkler. It will help the grass survive the heat and be entertainment for our energetic canine here.”
“Ah, I see! How innovative,” Nagito replied, watching the dog’s and sprinkler’s movements.
Then Clover found out that she could move the sprinkler’s base. The second she discovered this, she grabbed it in her jaws and ran over to Nagito, spraying him with the chilly water.
He giggled as the water splashed him. “Oh my! Look what you got! What a silly dog you are!”
Hajime snorted with laughter. “Having fun over there?” he called out, realizing a second later that he had made a terrible mistake.
Clover, upon hearing his voice, turned back towards him and rocketed forward, still holding the active sprinkler in her jaws.
Hajime only had a second to feel relieved that the patio door was shut before both he and his twin got sprayed by the water. “Na-Nagito!!! Call her- Call her back over to you!” he shouted as he tried to stand and avoid any more splashes. Izuru didn’t appear to move, having accepted the inevitable outcome with a scowl.
Nagito smirked for a few seconds before deciding to fulfill the request. “Come on back here, sweetheart. Show me again,” his angelic voice said over the sprinkler’s noises. Clover was more than happy to listen, trotting over to the naga.
Hajime shook his head, trying to get water off as he wrung out his shirt. “Note to self, only let the dog near the sprinkler if I am fully prepared for the splash zone.” His spirits were slightly improved when he looked at his sopping wet brother. Seeing him pouting like a wet cat more than made up for the uncomfortable dampness. “Looks like we have to dry off in the sun.”
Izuru huffed, having noticed his brother’s amusement. But no comments or alternatives were offered, so Hajime turned back to his other family member’s activities. He shrugged his shoulders with a grin. “Eh, a little water was worth it to see them have some summer fun.”

So this suggestion from Sapphire was worded as: Clover protecting her dads from pure evil.
Now I’m sure you are wondering. What could this pure evil possibly be? And the answer is: bubbles.
How could I not do that one next? I’m sure you understand why I simply had to.
So, I may take a short break from this au for a little. I dunno when it will return, but I wanna explore some other things for now. Thank you for all the support on this fic thus far. It means the world to me.
“I simply do not understand your powers, mortal. How could you tame something that I could not? It vexes me to no end,” Gundham stated with annoyance lacing his voice.
Hajime rolled his eyes as he pet Clover’s belly as they sat on the couch. “I don’t know what to tell you. I guess she just likes us better.”
The dark haired human grumbled, clearly still sulking. No matter what he tried, Clover did not favor him in any way. Apparently, this was the first time this had ever occurred, leading to this rampant confusion on Gundham’s part. Everyone else thought it to be entertaining.
Hajime then remembered something, to which he got a grin. “Maybe we can help improve her opinion on you. I just hope Izuru hasn’t left the store yet,” he said as he whipped his phone out and sent his twin a message. The reply was instant, getting a confirmation on the request being heard and carried out promptly. “Alright. All we have to do is wait.”
Gundham looked confused, but didn’t bother to ask. “Shall we await the almighty one outdoors? I’ve had my fill of this era’s technologies. The grand wilderness calls.”
Giving one last belly pat to the wolf dog puppy, Hajime stood up from the couch along with Gundham. They exited out of the building, both humans smiling when they saw their nagas sunbathing in the distance. Clover also saw them, prancing in place as she looked to Hajime for permission.
“Yes, you can go,” he told her, to which she sped off, rocketing to the large emerald green snake. Gundham deflated even more when the puppy reached them, giving licks to both Nagito and Sonia. Hajime patted him on the shoulder, taking a seat on one of the patio chairs. He rested comfortably in it, head tilted back and eyes closed as he relaxed.
The humans stayed there, enjoying the outside weather. Hajime didn’t bother to move during that time for a couple reasons. First, that he would be able to greet Izuru when he returned from his shopping trip. And second, because he was feeling incredibly lazy. So, he didn’t bother trying to exert any energy.
He continued to do so until his twin’s car pulled back into the driveway. But Hajime kept his eyes closed until he heard footsteps approaching him. “I’m guessing you got what I asked for,” he called over.
His brother rolled his eyes. “Of course I did. You know I will accomplish anything I set my mind to.”
Hajime grinned as he was handed the bag that contained the things he requested. “Thank you, by the way. I don’t mean to make you do all the shopping all the time.”
Izuru’s mouth crooked up into a tiny smile. “You are welcome. And rest assured, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t want to.”
“Of course. Now then, let’s get this set up.”
The three humans got to work, pouring the container of liquid into the shallow plastic dish. Hajime then grabbed the wand, pressing it into the liquid and ran a few steps forward. Creating giant rainbow bubbles.
“It works! I’m sure they will love this,” Hajime stated as he gave the wand to the awestruck Gundham. The brunette then shouted over to the nagas. “Hey! Come over here! We have something to show you!”
The two serpents lifted their heads, eyes widening when they saw the giant bubble rise in the air and pop. They rose fully, slithering over to the house with the excited puppy trotting in between them. But once they got close, the wolf dog’s eyes locked onto the bubbles that Gundham and Izuru had been making. She raced forward again, leaping up into the air and opening her jaws to snap at one of them. It popped, leaving a very confused puppy behind.
Nagito giggled as he watched his dog frantically look around, setting off to get another bubble. “What are these? They are pretty!” he asked, reaching out and popping one himself with a claw.
Hajime nodded, walking close once Nagito had settled down near the ground again. “They are. These are bubbles created with a soap mixture. Most of the time, they are smaller than this. But we got the giant ones for you guys to enjoy.”
“Really? That’s so considerate of you!” the emerald naga exclaimed, watching with new appreciation as Sonia watched the bubbles that Gundham made float up into the air. And also how Clover kept jumping and running around, trying her best to get all the ones Izuru made.
Hajime then saw a third wand and extra basin that were off to the side. “Want to try it yourself? I think you will be able to.”
The green eyes sparkled. “Really? Yes, I would love to try!”
And so the brunette jogged over to the extras, grabbing them and bringing them closer to his partner. He filled the basin with more of the bubble mixture, testing the wand out and smiling triumphantly when a large bubble formed. “Okay, so it’s fairly easy. Put the wand in the liquid and move it sideways. Don’t move the wand too fast or else it will pop.”
The reptilian eyes narrowed in concentration, doing his best to follow the instructions given to him. His first few tries ended up in failures, but he didn’t let them discourage him. And when he successfully made his own bubble, he looked absolutely elated. “Look! Look! I did it!” Nagito almost shouted, watching his bubble fly into the sky. Now filled with more determination, Nagito dipped the wand into the basin and made another.
Only for it to be broken by a flying dog.
Clover looked at both her human and naga owners, tail wagging furiously as she panted. Both Hajime and Nagito laughed, happy to see their puppy having fun. “Are you getting all the bubbles? Do you want to get more?” Nagito cooed, getting his wand ready and making more rainbow spheres.
Clover was more than ready, getting every single bubble that appeared in the area. She even raced back to the other two humans at points, getting their bubbles before returning to her owners. But her energy did run out eventually, ending up with her flopping down on her side in the shade under the patio table. Izuru went in to get her a bowl of water and Sonia took hold of Gundham, entering the woods together. Soon, it was just them.
“Humans have made so many fascinating things. The creativity is astounding,” Nagito murmured as he lowered himself onto the grass fully.
Hajime hopped up to sit on the pale wrist, now sitting directly next to the naga’s cheek. “Yeah, I can agree on that. I am sure I would never come up with anything like that.”
Nagito carefully tilted his head so his cheek made contact with the smaller person on him. “You are very creative in your own way. I know you don’t see it quite as clearly, so I’ll remind you whenever you need me to.”
Hajime found himself blushing with a smile, rubbing his own cheek against his naga’s. “I appreciate it.”
The two closed their eyes and relaxed, leaning against each other in complete contentment as the warm sun’s rays shone on them.
