Guadalupe Mountains National Park - Tumblr Posts

Between a rock and a hard place! A couple of times I thought about making my way over there to stand on it. I’m still alive so obviously I didn’t!

Guadalupe Mts. NP is in Texas but the only vehicular access is via a lengthy drive into New Mexico & back down. Would you believe I once took a route through Roswell & was abducted by aliens? Didn’t think so 😁

Park visitors can explore excellent surviving traces of the old Butterfield road that wrap around the base of El Capitan, out into the Salt Flats and up to the New Mexico state line

The Ship on the Desert, built to resemble a ship, became part of the national park where VIPs stayed. My Top of Texas Sierra Club service project hung out here annually working for the NPS

Top of Guadalupe Peak, 8,751 ft. Me, wife Karen, daughter’s fiancée Glenn, son Michael, & daughter Shellie. Sadly my wife died in 2019

Don’t blame me! I took the photo; but I didn’t name it Nipple Hill! Kind of appropriate name though. 😁

Many people mistake El Capitan for Guadalupe Peak, but it’s distance perspective viewed from the highway. There are no roads in the park. I’ve climbed Guadalupe Peak 5 times

This is coming back into Texas from New Mexico thru the Dog Canyon entrance
