Guess The Rock - Tumblr Posts
Nice, chlorite and quartz are the main minerals.

Week 1 of posting thin sections. This is an old photo when I was new to taking photos through a microscope lens. Cross polarised plane. I would like to know what people think this rock is!

Week 3 of posting thin sections of rocks.
Did anyone figure out what they were in the last week's?

Week 4 of posting rock thin sections, and what a surprise, more garnet!!!

Week 6 of posting thin sections

*favourite form of rock
Ok tumblr, I need help identifying these rock/minerals.

I got these from the “world’s greatest rock tumbler refill pack” from national geographic, if that helps. The ID guide from the pack is sparse and vague so it wasn’t much help.
I used google image search to id these as best I could. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps!

Week 7 of posting thin sections!
Today we see some Muscovite doing the worm. Honestly when I first saw this I was flashbanged by so much colour I had to look away for a few seconds.
Now for the nerds out there curious:
What we see here is called ✨Lepidoblastic Texture✨, which is a metamorphic texture in which platy or tabular minerals are aligned to produce a planar fabric.
Meaning all the minerals like to do the conga because it is the only way to cope without breaking from the massive amount of workload their boss just gave them.
Also the winner of favourite basic rock form goes to:
Sedimentary Rocks

A beautiful thinsection from a blueschist, with garnet, glaucophane, albite, chlorite, and muscovite.
@saltyglazedbread described the garnet-albite interaction as a garnet human centipede to me in the practical.

Week 8 of posting rock thin sections!

Week 9 posting thin sections of rocks

Week 10 of posting rock thin sections!
Something funky is going on
