(also i originally wanted to post this on the next 10th year anniversary of their 2014 grammy award but i then realized im not gonna wait a whole decade for that)
I just want to give a shoutout to the 35 or so Daft Punk blogs that still exist (from what I’ve seen in the tags) and are active even after most of the DP blogs deactivated in 2017-2018 or are inactive and we’re all reblogging the same old posts from each others’ blogs or from blogs we’ve followed since 2008 - 2010.
I also want to give a shoutout to the new daft punk blogs that are posting about them and finding all of the old posts and pictures that would’ve been long forgotten in time if it weren’t for you guys finding them and reblogging them.
Also a shoutout to all the fans who are still making cool fan art and fan projects of Thomas and Guy-Man and of the robots.

Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo, half of Daft Punk, was born on February 8th, 1974 in Paris, France. Known to be the quieter of the two, Guy-Manuel’s actions speak louder than words. Alongside lifelong friend and music partner Thomas Bangalter, he is responsible for four incredible albums, the most recent being a multiple Grammy winner. He also has his own record label Crydamoure where he made his own music, and has even produced albums for the artists Sébastien Tellier and Kavinsky. Happy Birthday Guy-Manuel!

So, a week ago, Daft Punk retired. Some days after (Maybe 3 or 4, I’ve lost count) I found out. Why this wasn’t immediately brought to my attention? I don’t know. Just because I found out later doesn’t mean I’m not upset about it though.
I guess through recent binging, I’ve really learned from them to make “art” for me. Because I want to. If it makes me happy, I should be allowed to enjoy and share it. I want to share what brings me joy with you all. There may be upcoming content you’ll disagree with or turn away, but I’m tired of making art I think others will like. I’m going to do “art” (Music, Visual Art, etc.) On my own terms because I love it.
You know what else I love? This band. I’m still really sour over their retirement, but I can understand why they’d call it off. Even though they weren’t a huge part of my life, I’ve still loved it whenever I head it. Now I’m taking my time to listen to their music, explore their past and explore myself. Thank you, Daft Punk, for bringing me this clarity. I love y’all.
