You're telling me the girls from H2O: Just Add Water were literally lost at sea and had to be found by their local nautical team (I assume something like the Australian version of the Coast Guard) and they never thought to lean into the potential trauma aspect to that?

Their community/friend group isn't even that large, surely everyone heard some kind of rumors about the incident. Mako is said to be shark infested and Zane almost died in one episode trying to break his dad's record.

When Emma quit the swim team and her family didn't know why or maybe when her family was about to go on their annual family trip to the water park (or something), why didn't she just sit them down and tell them something like "You remember when I was lost at sea? Some stuff happened and I can't really handle water anymore."

Her mom cares about her, her dad is said to be her hero, and her brother is a sweet kid. Emma could tell them something vague about how she "freaks out" when any liquid touches her or being around it makes her nervous.

She deserves to be able to vent to her mom! Even if it's not the full story, having support from your family goes a long way when your going through something.

Cleo can't do the dishes and her sister is suspicious about how she cleans her fish tank. As someone with an annoying younger sibling and used to be an annoying younger sibling, her sister still cares deeply about her. Her dad is very protective of her, it's mostly about boys, but I'm sure that extends to most aspects of her life too.

I'm sure they would be understanding if Cleo said something about water being overwhelming now after the incident on Zane's boat. This also could give her dad a more "valid" reason to be so protective about boys (not saying he had no reason, dads will be dads)

That one episode where they were all convinced Cleo was getting married to Zane, that would be crazy from their perspective. To be a protective father seeing your daughter go through something after some snobby rich kid pushed her out to sea, then finding out the same snobby rich kid is convincing her to sneak out and see him in private.

She could say the same thing at work, People see her as the odd one out wearing gloves or something. Then they find out she has a crippling fear of water, but loves the ocean enough to try to over come it.

I just checked the wiki about Rikki's dad, he sounds like a dick, but she could still say she has problems with water. I've always felt like Rikki would be unofficially adopted by the other parents (mostly Emma's parent, just cuz I've seen them interact more).

If they all just said they had trauma (which I wouldn't even consider a lie, cuz I would consider that traumatic) they could have avoided so many conflicts and be able to talk with their family about their struggles.

The episode where it was raining when they were about to leave for school and they pretended to be really sick. Just ask Emma's mom to call in and say their gunna be a little late because of the rain and wait it out. Bam! Excused absence from a caring mom!

(This is admittedly mostly about Emma and her family, cuz they seem very close)

If something happens and she needs to hide away to dry off, she can text her mom that she needs a moment. Like someone spills a drink on her at a some kind of function, like a neighborhood barbecue or a gathering at the JuiceNet Cafe, she goes to hide in the bathroom and lets her mom know.

Just being able to be slightly honest and get support about the changes in their life could lift the weight of the world off their shoulders.

I'm trying to re-watch the show and everything would have been so much easier for them if they could just be a little more honest.

Well, here it is for the maybe 2 only active infamous fans. It’s the H2O rules, for those who are confused. Also I love the idea of mer people being HUUUUGE.

I did this around the same time as the other comic (a very long time ago) but I just decided to post it cuz why not.

Woah, more of this au no one cares about????? I think you’re gonna hate the answer-

I love the world building of different supernatural beings having different diets. Also, that’s probably the best drawing I’ve done of someone eating something.

The truth is, I have so many doodles with this au I just never posted, and from time to time I’ll be like “meh, may as well post some more”. So these were actually made a long time ago, so that’s why this au art may not be as skilled as my more recent art.

Bet ya couldn’t guess I integrated Alex MERcer into this au, but I did!

I kinda mixed InFAMOUS’ lore and Prototype’s lore into one. Sooooo, I should probably explain it for the very few people still in the fandoms.

Every mer has some sort of power, mers replace the conduits, I guess.

Instead of the beast obliterating the east coast, he obliterated the east coast but in the sea. Like same path n’ everything, but a few miles out of the shore.

[spoilers for inFAMOUS 2] Cole defeated the beast, but he didn’t die! He goes on to be considered as one of the most powerful mers. (Electricity works best in salt water, so that’s a plus too)

And Alex stays in the ruins of the aquatic equivalent to New York.

Instead of the plagues in InFAMOUS 1 & 2, it’s the black light virus, but it’s not controlled by Elizabeth like in the first game.

Fortunately, Alex’s power is still the same but he was born with it (since it’s his mer power), and so to stop the spread he consumes everything infected. This gets rid of the all traces of the virus outside of Alex’s body.

If you were to ask a random mer who the strongest of them were, it’s a 50% chance they’ll say Cole, and a 50% chance they’ll say Alex. This is cuz even though Alex is stronger physically, Cole is considered a hero who applied his lightning ability to save the mer race. Plus mers tend to not like the idea of Alex consuming people.

In this au, Alex isn’t a hero, and isn’t a villian, and can’t really be called an anti-hero either? Since the black light is gone, he just kinda just does his thing, looking for anything to amuse him. And he definitely finds amusement with messing with Delsin, once he finds out who he is.

@kingbob2-0 thank you so much, I’m so glad you like it! As for the story, I don’t have much figured out but basically, Desmond comes from an ancient family of assassin mers. Since humans don’t know of the existence of mers, they use bodies of water to hide from both their targets and the templars. Although humans are unaware of the assassins, mers have knowledge of their existence. But that’s not to say they know where they reside or who their targets are. This is ok for the assassins because mers are normally incredibly solitary and don’t breach further than their own pods (with few exceptions). Which means that the mer population act more like tribes than one big society, therefore, mers don’t normally get targeted by the assassins, and mers rarely ever communicate with humans.

Like I said, there are a few exceptions to their solitary behaviours, and that’s school. And this is where Desmond meets Delsin. I had actually done some work on this, but keep in mind that what I’m about to show you was done a long time ago so there may be inconsistencies or somthin’ like that. [also, cuz my hand writing is shit, I’ll write down what it says under the pic.]

The school, Dolphin’s Trench

Quite far off the coast of hawaii

Works as a pre school, middle and high school, and university

It’s quite normal for merfolk to attend a school until they’re 35 (cuz they live a lot longer than humans)

Pre school; 8-12. Middle school; 12-19. High school; 19-29. University; 19-35

The schools are more relaxed and normally don’t force students to go, unlike human schools.

There are schools all over the seven oceans, and seas/giant lakes.

Some normal stuff like maths and history (though [history] divided between humans and mers)

But mer studies have a lot more available from the diversity of its schools and the amount of time mers have to be in school.

Some of the new things are;

Weapons training

Aquatic survival

Cultures and traditions

Spell casting

Curses and possessions

Hunting and food prep

Social training

Mer textiles

Aquatic art.

[ next to it is the student name (del: Delsin, Fet: Fetch, Eug: Eugene, Ale: Alex, Des: Desmond, Aid: Aiden) and a cross means they struggle in the subject, line is neutral, tick is good at, and star is proficient in.]

Delsin doesn’t need to go to school at first, because the Institute of Merfolk Education (IME) doesn’t know about him. Not until he picks a fight with Augustine and wins. As a result, freeing dozens [of mers] and pushing her into temporary hiding. That’s when they all [Eugene and Fetch + the merfolk community] figure out that he was originally human, but he wasn’t ripped to shreds instantly since it [the power to become a merman] was gifted to him and he had no choice. Since he’s still alive, they give him quick praise [for defeating Augustine] before forcing into high school. Which he is definitely not happy about. Obviously he started slow because he’s never learnt this before, but with Eugene and Fetch’s help, he becomes decent in most subjects. He excels in combat, but unfortunately his smoke power doesn’t work underwater. Luckily, because he was human, he’s quick to master it above ground, like Augustine once did. It was the reason he was able to defeat her. The IME recognised his potential and offered (forced) him to be transferred to the best school in the ocean, Dolphin’s Trench. He had to tell his brother [of his forced departure], but before he could, his brother announced he had to go to Hawaii for a while. To train recruits or something. So Del didn’t have to tell him, but now he has to avoid him.

When Delsin got to the school, he was amazed by the scale and design. He very quickly met the star combat student Alex Mercer, who people say is the most powerful merman and could easily destroy the human and merfolk race (they’re right). Alex was very interested in Delsin, since he managed to defeat Augustine even though he’s had his powers for less than a year. He also met the top student Desmond Miles, who is the descendant of a very long line of assassins which are considered higher than royalty. Desmond doesn’t really care about Delsin, but he’s friendly enough.

Whew, ok text thing over. I really hate myself and my need to physically write on digital paper rather than a word document like a normal person. It could’ve taken a minute or so, but rather now it’s taken about an hour.

Ok, so back on track. The family of mer assassins were partially responsible for the opening of Dolphin’s trench, and every child of the family is forced to go into the school and graduate top of their classes, to make sure their successors continue on the family legacy. Like stated before, the family are more respected than any kind of royalty, and so Desmond is quite popular when it comes to the school. Not that Delsin would really knows and/or care about that. He’s just pissed off that he had to deal with highschool already, and when he thought he was finally free, he’s now been forced back into school, with the only other option being torn to shreds.

As for Alex Mercer, he’s just in school for the sake being entertained. He doesn’t really care about grades or friends, but it seems more fun than just swimming the vast ocean alone, with barely a fish to amuse him. So when Delsin came along, Alex starts to tease him, and provoke him for the sake of it. It’s not like he’s the typical bully -he’s not even that harsh- but Delsin would rather not be in his presence. On numerous occasions the two get into quite hefty fights that normally have to be broken up by a mer who can defend themselves well (eg, Desmond, or Cole.)

Did I mention that Cole is the combat teacher in the school? Delsin, Alex, and Desmond are all his students and every day Cole has to live on, he gets closer and closer to the conclusion that teaching just isn’t worth it. Imagine having those three together, in a class. No sane teacher would stay in that position.

After a while Alex, Del, and Des start to do things together (I don’t have many ideas now, I just know it’ll be things the IME would heavily disapprove of). But it’s not a constant group like how Delsin is with Fetch and Eugene.

This is the quick concept design I had for the school. Like it was built into a drop off, and maybe before they built the whole thing, the assassins used to use the natural caves that were in the cliff.

If anyone has any ideas for this au, feel free to go wild. I don’t have much development for it, and a very minimal linear timeline, so any add ons are greatly welcome. The only other thing I already have some development for is the fight and overthrowing of Augustine, but that’s very similar to the actual game, just in water, and out of the public eye.

[for context, this is quite a while after Alex and Delsin met. He’s been transferred to Dolphin’s Trench and since he wasn’t able to properly say to Reg how he had to go, he has to avoid Reggie while he’s at Hawaii.]

“Normally turning into a mermaid/merman is a quite peaceful process which involves a moonpool on a full moon.

That’s how they did it in the show, at least, and Delsin wants his money back.

Alternative summary; Delsin falls into a cave and becomes a merman. But there’s a lot of pain and weird lore.”

Guess who finished the introductory fanfic of the mer au I made! Thank you to @kingbob2-0 for helping me with the reaction bit, I always struggle with them. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated, I’m definitely not the best when it comes to realistic dialogue.

Also, here’s the idea I had for Delsin’s tail. It’d be cool if it changes colour when he becomes better/worse.

[TURN UP YOUR BRIGHTNESS SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE SOMETHING] it’s mermay so I may as well complete a h2o x infamous comic I’ve refused to finish cuz it includes a vehicle and I absolutely despise drawing them.

Reggie saw everything, but whether he believes what he saw is questionable.

Bonus;

It’s Eugene btw, since he’s the more heroic one even before Delsin finds him in the game. Also, my initial idea was to have him just pick up the car and put it back, but then I realised that even though the mer people are huuuge, they’re not big enough to just lift up a car and plonk it back onto the road. So instead he used a grapple invention he made, which not only fixes the problem, but it actually makes Eugene’s character more interesting. Plus I could use the grapple that was confiscated as a reason as to why Delsin and Eugene meet.

As you can probably tell, this au never truly leaves my mind. I may not draw it for long periods of time, but it’s not like other aus i abandon cuz I’m not in the fandom anymore. It’s probably cuz I’ve done so much world building that I don’t want to just leave it all behind. So don’t expect frequent updates, but know that they can come whenever and wherever.

Plus plus, I’m so so so proud of this lil shot of him, it’s probably the best dynamic pose I’ve done ( which isn’t that good but I acknowledge that it’s really good for me). Look at the physicsssssssss
