Three steps of jealousy.
Hal is just like how I describe him on my fic.
I always made Hal as my pawn in Dragon's Dogma. So he is, indeed, created by me to be #HalEmmerich.
He's a mage that has a peaceful personality and he can create things with your items. (But I changed it for a moment to be able to talk elvish)
And I also made a new AU fic for him, mixing dragon's dogma and metal gear lore.

Now with the new patch, Hal's glasses have the proper shape. I also discover that pawns can equip the arisen's bond (eternal bond). I dunno if the game respects the "bond" with them, but i feel so happy to be able to "give" it to him! Now hi has the ring in his right hand.
"With just a touch, the Arisen can revive us and give us new energy."
That's what he said. But...
"is it true? Can the touch of an Arisen really bring a pawn back to life out of thin air?"
He closed his eyes and gently nodded his head. A soft, almost imperceptible light emanated from the palm of my hand. I felt my hand warm up, accompanied by an unusual sensation of bubbling. The tiredness faded from his face and his typical expression returned."
"I turned my gaze back to the stone and gently placed my hand on it. I felt my surroundings change, like when you see the waves receding beneath your feet at the seashore. A column of intense white light rose from the rock, revealing a human silhouette. He adjusted his glasses under my astonished gaze, and I couldn't help but blush. I don't know if it was because he was so handsome or if it was because I had no idea what the hell was going on. "A human appeared out of nowhere! Holy shit!"
I stood there with my mouth open, watching him. He had a pleasant smile, although it was somehow... cold. His thin lips moved as he raised his right hand, revealing a scar of the same shape as the one I have on my chest right now.
- Please... Don't be afraid, Arisen..."

"- Are you telling me that I'm ugly?
- Well... you said that she's your Arisen. That is how she created you. I think you're barking up the wrong tree...
"How dare you?" I clenched my fists. He turned his eyes to her. He's pushing me to my limits...
- Yes, she's my master, I'm hers, and I must protect her to the death.
I spat out the sentence with as much conviction and vehemence as I could muster.
The pawn just laughed and closed his eyes, refusing to get involved. I turned to look at the Arisen; her face was calm. Seeing her so vulnerable, her chest rising and falling gently with her breathing... I was worried just by thinking about what could happen to her...
- I guess she has a taste for the weird ones, huh? The ones that look like bookworms...
I felt my temples tighten.
- If she is fond of oddballs, then why did she hire you?
Snake opened his eyes and avoided my gaze.
- Okay, smartass.
- Come on, Mister Sarcasm. If my Arisen has such bad taste in people. What did she see in you?
- Simple. She needs to have a strong pawn.
- I'll give you that one. You're right, and there's no secret behind that logic. But other than that, I can't see anything else to like about you."

NAME: Lina AGE: 25 RACE: Human PRONOUNS: She/her PREFERRED VOCATION: Archery (Warfarer: switching in between Archer and Magic Archer) FAVORED GIFTS: Flowers. FAMILY: Only her Mom, Beatrice. Only child.
POSITIVE TRAITS: Extrovert, active, playful, witty. NEGATIVE TRAITS: Loneliness, stress and depression. Constant feeling of danger. LIKES: Flowers, cats and blue colored things. DISLIKES: dishonest/corrupt people and brown colored things.
1. What was their life like before becoming Arisen?
Lina lived a moderately peaceful life in Cassardis, in a small house that was part of the old structure of the town (the fanfiction takes place about 200 years after DD1). She was an ordinary citizen of low social status in Gransys, working as a cook in the oldest inn. There she was in charge of hunting and preparing meals. The current owner of the inn is a man named William.
2. How do they handle being Arisen, and the responsibilities that come with it?
Lina was quite mature in accepting her role as Arisen. She seems to be aware and serene about her fate, but inwardly she is always wondering why this situation is happening to her, and she mostly perceives it as a divine punishment.
3. What are their thoughts on Pawns in general?
Lina's history with people is rather distant: Her mother is cold, and her mother partner treated her quite badly and abused her (touching her inappropriately). Partly as a result of this, she feels that pawns are more affectionate towards her, which creates an almost automatic empathy for them. She perceives them as sentient beings, ordinary people, forgetting all the time that they are just pawns.
4. What's their relationship like with their main Pawn?
Lina is constantly struggling with her desires and feelings for Hal. She is a person so thirsty for affection, and Hal's gentle, attentive personality attracts her like a magnet (and vice versa). She does not know how to deal with him; she respects him and tries to maintain a normal friendship, but deep down she sees him as "the man who came straight out of her dreams" to be with her and care for her as a partner.
5. Do they have any interest in being Sovran? What are their opinions on the politics of the world in general?
Lina's lore is based in DD1, so the main goal is taking down Grigori and take her heart back, but she doesn't know what is waiting for her after that...
6. Who are their love interest(s) and/or closest friends?
Only her pawns: Hal, Snake and Meryl. But she will know a lot of people on her adventures...
7. What drew them to their preferred vocation? Do they have history with it?
Initially, Lina was a Strider, but as a non-athlete, she lacked the agility to excel in that vocation. It was then that Snake, a long-time experienced pawn, recommended her switch to archery, as she had an innate talent for it. Later in life, Hal suggested that she should learn to use magic, so she became a Magic Archer.
8. Do they have any hobbies? Any way of relaxing between all that monster-slaying and traveling?
Her hobby is writing and collecting pressed flowers.

1. What was their life like prior to being summoned by their Arisen?
Nothing. Hal has been summoned by Lina for the first time.
2. What is their opinion on the Arisen? How do they view their relationship?
Hal is deeply committed to Lina. At first, this was just a reflection of his nature as a pawn, but after spending night after night dealing with different Arisen through the Rift, he begins to notice that she acts differently than other humans; benevolently and with justice. This ignites a small spark in Hal, leading him to question his true "feelings" toward his Arisen, even if he doesn't understand what he's sensing at first.
3. Is there anything about the Arisen they find troublesome? Be it a small quirk or bad habit? (Or are they obviously flawless?)
Sometimes Hal feels uncomfortable with Lina's boldness. It is a strange emotion for him. In a way he dislikes it, but at the same time he feels it is part of her charm.
4. What is their specialization and is there any story behind how they cultivated that skill set?
Hal is a Mage, and he loves to create fast, intelligent ways to keep his party safe.
5. Do they have any thoughts on the politics of the world and their place in it as a Pawn - or how Pawns are treated?
YES, pretty much! and that's because of Lina. Because she is a revolutionary. Lina believes that she was chosen to be punished because of her desire to have a fair and kind life for everyone. But Hal thinks that the dragon chose her because she is capable of bringing a revolution and a great change for all living beings.
6. Does their journey with the Arisen change them in any significant way and how?
Yes. Hal is aware of the importance of education, patience, and benevolence, as they are the next steps in touching the hearts and changing the minds of others. To lead by example in order to create a better world for all.
7. Is there a reason they chose their preferred vocation?
Hal has enough talent to be a sorcerer, but he is so concerned for the welfare of his Arisen that he remains a mage so that he can always use his spells to heal and assist Lina whenever needed.
8. Do they have any hobbies or preferred past-times?
He likes to read, create artifacts and gimmicks to help the arisen in her journey.

I feel so comfortable making drawings in this style, because it allows me to make mistakes and work more with anatomy, and modify the bases I use as reference. IDK if it will be correct to say that I'm improving, but I certainly love to see this style in the dragons dogma fanfiction.

Hal is a quiet, calm pawn. He is always focused at his task, but if you get him distract, he could lost the trail easily and talk about random knowledge.
➵ UNCOMMON:
If you travel enough time with you, he probably will ask you about Human/Beastren behavior. He also could suggest you some books for read and ask you about items he could need to create things for you.
➵ RARE:
If he feels confortable enough with you, and his "trust" level is high, he could probably ask if you can spare some items with him (not precisely for himself. He wants to acquire some items for giving them to Lina, but no one knows what kind of items are in his "list")

In regards of writing matters; I'm making a full investigation about word politics and tensions in 2017, for the next TEC chapter. I discarded my old draft (from February 2023) but keeping some ideas I need for the plot, so making this chapter will take me more time than I thought. For Sapphire Hearted, I need to end the Idea, but I have a draft already ♥. Can spoiler that a friend's oc will be mentioned, but I have to send the draft first, to know if this person agrees. if isn't, I will change the character's name.
And for The Bad Ending, I want to share a new Snippet:
" It was when I lifted my gaze and could dazzle at Hal's reddened face, battling his demons. And now that I have seen that scene in my mind over and over again, I understand more things that I did not perceive at that moment.

His weak, trembling, and pathetic voice.
How wrong I was…

I saw him clench his hands; a smirk on my face was my response.
- You have no salvation. When will the day come when you tell her the truth?

Neither Hal, nor Meryl, nor myself. We were not normal. Willpower, empathy, and audacity were a common denominator.
He gritted his teeth, showing the fire in his eyes.
- How you enjoy this, don't you? Leaving me in shame…
- Come on, Hal. You are so damn shy. The tent is on the other side… Or do you want me to play the role of the one who regrets it and take the place that you say it belongs to you?
- Over my dead body… Snake. Just watch me.
At that moment, the embers burned as much as now, Arisen. His legs were rigid trunks that raised a trail of dust in their wake. Meryl and I exchanged looks, sharing a conspiratorial smile. Her red hair shone with the yellow light from the campfire.
- Do you really think he'll make it?
- I don't know, Meryl. But one thing is certain: the night won't be boring…
And it was obviously the truth: an open field, a delicate fabric tent. Even the slightest sound would be heard by us.

Hal's long fingers moved the improvised fabric door: she was on the ground, with her back to the entrance.
I have good memories of our camping trips.
She liked to sleep with all of us together, just as you can see puppies huddled together in search of warmth.
It had something that was endearing and charming. The one who was always most attached to her was Hal, of course.
With the night movement, more than once, Meryl or I ended up snuggled next to her. And it was not a matter of importance, it was so natural for all of us that no one questioned anything.
So I presume that he must have lain down behind her, snuggling close."
