Crack AU: Glorfindel is the son of Maglor and his Vanya wife.

This nightmare spawned from a comment conversation with @feanoryen about Glorfy's parentage, and she said something that inspired the horrifying idea that he's the son of Maglor and his (very-technically-semi-barely-canonical) Vanya wife.

Then feanoryen mentioned that, once upon a time, Maglor was in love with proto-Lúthien, Melloth - love flower.

And then Glorfindel is the Lord of the House of the Golden Flower. Laurelótë. Named for both parents, perhaps?

I can even explain how he ended up with Turgon and sundered from Maglor.

After the Poking Debacle (which is what I call the time Náro threatened Nolo), Maglor and his wife became estranged, and Glorfindel (then Laurefindelë, I guess) sided with his mother. Then the Darkening happened, and Glorf wanted to go to Beleriand, but he didn't want to be associated with his father's family, so he traveled with Turucáno. Blood was shed at Alqualondë, and Glorfindel completely disowned himself from his father. Turgon took Glorfindel under his wing.

As for his mother? She stayed in Valinórë - it's explicitly said Elenwë was the only Vanya to go to Endórë.

Maybe he didn't like Maeglin because the mole reminded him too much of Curufin.
