Honey Advice - Tumblr Posts
Here's a tip: Pretend that someone else wrote it. Get yourself into the mindset of wanting to read about some characters you like, and then you find this, a fic someone else wrote. There's a chance that the things you saw as edgy when it was in your own work will actually seem cool when you see it being written by someone else.
Sometimes we judge things in ourselves that we would like normally.
Sorry if this advice isn't helpful.
Anytime I draw angst I can't tell if it's cool or if it just comes across as edgy as hell.
Note that not all characters express these things the same way. Maybe they've repressed things and no longer express in these easy-to-decipher ways. Maybe they express a lot in one area and not much for others.
Think about what makes sense for their personality and the environment they grew up in, as well as what environment they are in in the moment!

Oh god YES. Please.
Here's some advice: Get a stack of paper plates and plastic utensils and use some whenever you literally physically cannot handle the noise. I'm aware plastic isn't good for the environment, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
concept: dishes and utensils that don't make any fucking noise ever

The tags make a great addition. Like, there's certainly a lot I don't like about how some folks portray some characters, but people having different opinions is inevitable, so I pay no mind. I just frown and move on. It's not the end of the world, even if it is a bit upsetting.
If someone's portrayal of a character hurts no one, then hurting them for it is hypocritical.
If something is REALLY wrong, like actually wrong in a way that targets or otherwise hurts someone irl, then report it. Don't harass them, just report. And maybe put a suggestion for others to report it too in the comments section.
will never understand how people get genuinely angry over people’s views on fictional skeletons (primarily on aspects that don’t matter). cause like. that’s basically just someone’s oc. that oc’s creator has drawn that oc doing what you’re upset other people are drawing them doing. you are defending someone’s oc from something that does not matter. i can bet you a billion bucks if you went to the creator of your blorbo they would not get mad at whatever you’re upset about. they’d go “such is life” and go smoke a cigarette or something. depending on who you’re thinking about there’s a chance they’ve literally said before that they really don’t care. and neither should you

They're good in different ways and appeal to different people- that's how it goes with most things. No use arguing about which is technically better when it comes to the things people like, because everyone has a different metric.
Doesn't matter if your opinion is the correct one, all that should matter is you having fun with it.

Transcript: i think people shouldn't fight over if fanon or canon is better, frankly. I usually prefer more canon interpretations of horror and a lot of the others but that doesn't mean some fanon interpretations are equally as good!
Also- How do they feel about their surroundings? Is there a sense of wrongness, like they feel they weren't meant to die this way? Their goals, were they left unfinished? Do they find their own death cruelly poetic in some way?
A sense of unrest and regret + writing the hero's thoughts and feelings about it can make the scene stick strongly with the audience, even if the hero gets better.
[I speak from experience :,D That one fic went HARD, still one of my favorites in the fandom]
How to Write a Death Scene
So, you want to write a death scene that hits your readers hard, right? Something that sticks with them, makes them feel something real?
First, give the death meaning. You can’t just toss in a death for the shock factor and call it a day. Even if it’s sudden or unexpected, the death has to matter to the story. Think about how it changes things for the characters who survive. Does it mess with their relationships? Their goals? Make sure this moment sends ripples through the rest of your plot. It’s gotta affect everything that happens after, like an emotional earthquake.
Then, think about timing. You don’t want to drop a death scene at the wrong moment and ruin the vibe. If it’s part of a big heroic moment or a heartbreaking loss in the middle of the story, it should feel earned. The timing of the death decides how your readers will react, whether they feel relief, gut-wrenching sorrow, or are totally blindsided. The right moment makes all the difference.
Next up, focus on the characters’ emotions. Here’s the thing, it's not always the actual death that makes a reader cry, it's how everyone feels about it. How do the characters react? Is the person dying scared, or are they at peace? Are the people around them in shock, angry, or just completely destroyed? You need to dive deep into these emotions, because that’s where your reader connects.
Make sure to use sensory details to pull readers into the scene. What does it feel like? The sound of their breathing, the stillness when they’re gone, the way everything feels heavy and wrong. Little details make the death feel real and personal, like the reader is right there with the characters, feeling the weight of the moment.
If your character has the chance, give them some final words or actions. What they say or do in those last seconds can really hit hard. Maybe they share a piece of advice, ask for forgiveness, or try to comfort the people around them. Even a simple gesture, a smile, a touch, a last look can leave a lasting impression. This is your last chance to show who this character was, so make it count.
Finally, don’t just stop when the character dies. The aftermath is just as important. How do the survivors deal with it? Does your main character fall apart, or do they find a new sense of purpose? Are there regrets? Peace? Whatever happens next should be shaped by the death, like a shadow that never quite goes away. Let your characters carry that weight as they move forward.
Go into your blog settings and check that asks are toggled on. Also, at the bottom, there should be a toggle that says something about 'block third party sharing'. If you toggle that on, then that means tumblr can't scrape your blog to sell to AI companies. Hope this helps ^^
how do i make sure my ask box is open. is it already open
i will take utmv req. anything. no promises that i will get to all of it but ask anyways
What types of medium do you use for your art? I know it's digital, but some of them look pixilated.
Also, sorry for the spelling errors or grammer. It's 6:30 and I woke up.
Thank you for the question, I'm flattered that you like my art enough to ask! :D
[And no worries, you're good on spelling and grammar!]
I use Kleki.com, a free online art program! I'm planning to switch to Clip Studio paint soon, but for now Kleki is good :3
If you want tips:
-You don't need to install it! You can have full access to all of its capabilities just by finding the website.
-You can only save one drawing in the program itself. Saving it within the program is called the 'Browser Storage'. That means that every time you go on the website, your drawing [with all the layers] appears on the page.
-WARNING: I'm pretty sure that the Browser Storage is erased if you clear Kleki.com's cookies.
-To save more drawings, you have to download them to your computer, which is easy enough. There's a little blue button for it at the top!

-There's two types of files you can save your drawings as, PNGs and PSDs. I recommend saving your drawings as PSDs- that means that you're saving all the separate layers in one file rather than just the general image! This makes it much easier to Import your drawing to Kleki to continue working on it later :3
-To change the file type, go into the 'File' tab [which is next to the 'Edit' tab] and click the little drop arrow here:

-It's honestly really easy to use once you get the hang of it, which I love!
-To learn more about what things do, I suggest experimenting with the different functions, it's fun :D
-To get the pixel effect- I use the pixel brush, but I draw really small to make the pixels stand out more.
Here's what my Fear Mind [TM] drawing looked like on the canvas [The section I used for the post is within the green border]:

-There's a bunch of other things I could say, but I think this response is getting too long already. If you have any questions about the website then feel free to ask me! ^^
I've been using it for a few years, and it's a pretty good drawing program, especially with it being free. I honestly don't know why people don't talk about it more :D
Hope this helps!
Your choice made sense! Here's a tip though- the next time someone gives you something, ask "what, all of it?' so they clarify.

Please tell creators if you like their work! Imagine presenting a piece of your art, something that took time and effort, and getting nothing but blank stares back. That's kind of how it feels when no one gives you any feedback, or any sign that they liked it. It's disheartening.
For me personally, it makes me wonder if every person who read my fic cringed and clicked away halfway through. I have no way of telling otherwise unless someone lets me know, because I can't read the minds of readers.

No! That's a lie :[ Some people don't care, and some people really do! It's a mixed bag, but in my experience people care A LOT. More people care than you would believe, honestly.
“When people treat you like they don’t care, believe them.”

NEVER FEEL STUPID FOR SUCH THINGS!!! That is your beloved creation! If it has no fans, then be an even bigger fan to compensate!! Loving things is honestly the best way you can get others to love it too, I've learned :D

Transcript: Sometimes I feel stupid for being so into my au since it's not even popular and shit but at the same time I'm glad I made it lol
So turns out that was because I wasn't drinking enough water! A novel thought, consuming the liquid that makes up most of your flesh.
If you see this, this is a reminder to drink water, guys. It's really not fun when you forget.
Okay so I don't really complain about things much on Tumblr when it comes to health. But I feel so sick rn it's not even funny
Dear god
Ow
Hey yall! Quick experiment you can do with art.
Look at something you wrote, that you either dislike or you're not sure is cringe or not. Act like it's something someone else wrote. You were looking for something to read and you came across this, something a different author wrote. And read it with that lens.
Does it look cooler when they wrote it? If so, then maybe you dislike it when you wrote it because /you/ wrote it. Sometimes we like things in others that we dislike in ourselves.
To combat this, keep in mind that you're harder on yourself than you really should be, and remember that your readers are more likely to like what you wrote than you think!
Your art deserves to exist even if it's not the best, though. Keep that in mind as well.
Exactly!!! Create create create! As much as you want, to whatever degree you want! I once saw someone say 'Toby Fox was in the Homestuck fandom, I'm sure he understands' and I'm not sure what that means, but yeah!
Just do whatever makes you happy or gets you out of artblock!
And if anyone doesn't like it and harasses you about it, feel free to block them!

Transcript: Sometimes I feel so bad for the side of the fandom i indulge in bcs its mostly fanon or. my own multiverse which ive put so much hcs into i dont think it even counts as a utmv anymore and i feel. very stupid for this,,,,
Yes!! Everyone dislikes something. Logically that means some people don't like the thing you like, just as you don't like something someone else likes. If you run into people who don't like your thing you can ignore them and they can ignore you. It's not a big deal, and taking that fact to heart will probably make things easier for you.
a weird thing is that we got waves of people going "who cares if its cringe or youre annoying! have fun!" but no one really learned how to accept the fact that some people will find you annoying or think your art or your work or posts or anyrhing sucks and thats ok. rather it just became a weird "if people think youre annoying theyre just morally bad. let people enjoy things!". like no i think this yes man only biome sucks and people are allowed to not like artstyles and shows and media and other things
