Day 5 of @marichatmay: Nightmares
maybe i should just switch to drawing lukanette and lukanette only.
Apartment :D
fantastic. lovely. liberating. gorgeous. so much space in so little space. people coming to visit randomly. me finally having the possibility of being 'that friend who'll invite you and feed you while constantly asking you if you're sure you don't want more tea'. could use a few more mugs and plates but I guess having a te in a glass isn't such a catastrophe. still haven't written a word despite having so much more time. art is doing better though I think.

Hi! For the Happy Writer: #1 ^_^
1. What part of the writing process is the most enjoyable?
Does not writing the story counts? it totally does, right?
Seriously though, I love, love, love daydreaming of my stories. Before I start writing the piece, after I've begun but before I got to that specific plot point/scene/conversation... Listening to the music I picked for the scene's "soundtrack" and replaying it in my head over and over again, not just with the images and actions but often with the particular wording I would like to use. Heck, even imagining alternative versions of the story's fragments after I actually wrote the thing.
As for the actual 'writing process'... I don't really outline my stories other than in my head, as described above. My editing isn't that grand, either, usually coming down to checking the typos/polishing the phrasing etc., so there isn't that much to chose from in this sense. Still, I can think of 2 things I really love:
Internal monologues. Yes, I know I succumb too easily, and that they always get out of hand, the more angst-filled they are, the worse for all of us. I feel equally impressed, grateful and pitiful towards my readers who have to get through all that every time this happens... but at the same time, it is so much fun to write. The words just come, the wordcount grows, the story doesn't progress one inch, and usually I am devasted with all the pain I inflicted on my bae characters and myself. I hate it. I love it. I still have no idea what my audience actually thinks of it.
When my starting ritual works and I get the writing done. This one is about the other side of the writing, not so much about the stories themselves, but about the satisfaction that comes after having got myself to start. There's a rush of adrenaline, of joy, of self-appreciation and pride. It may be 15 minutes or less at times. But given how often I'm completely incapable of doing even that much? It's a huge achievement every time I am.
It got really long really fast (talk about my writing getting out of hand...), but I hope you find the answer interesting enough! Thank you for asking, jbd! It means so much ^^
6. Describe what you do and your feelings after posting a chapter.
6. Describe what you do and your feelings after posting a chapter.
Ha, now that's a good question as I haven't posted a chapter since I don't know when but I guess I have a pretty simple answer to that.
I.

page.
all.
the.
time.
I try not to, I really do. One of the reasons I almost always post in the late evenings, so that I can either busy myself with a movie or just go to sleep right after that. Sadly, I can still use my phones during the former, just like I can push back the moment I put it away and just get my very necessary share of sleep.
Oh, and I also complain to @nerdypanda3126 about all the above (and some) practically each time.
Hope that answers your question! Thanks so much for showing interest and asking about that, my dear anon friend! ^^
May I ask for 9 and 11 for the Fic Writer Ask Game? 💙💙💙
9. What inspired you to write your first fic?
Ohh, I have an answer to that! Two answers, actually :D
First, and here comes a name, @cried2dream wrote this mind-blowingly amazing hiccelsa fic called Thaw Slowly. It was one of the first fanfics I ever came across (and it was... not... seven years ago...), and one that I loved so, so much from the start, and which inspired a whole lot of daydreaming on my end. It was partly about the same fandom (httyd my beloved <3), it included - and here's the other reason for writing - a very cringe-worthy self-insert which then I cleverly swapped for another character (hehe). A few months later Once Mine, a heavily canon-based snunzel hiccunzel story came into this world.
more than 4 fandoms and 2434123246 interests later, I am still here and thriving. and it's you guys who have to bear the consequences i'm afraid.
11. Who is your favourite character(s) to write about and why?
Now, I don't know if it's because of how many fandoms I've written for so far, but I can't give you an exact answer to this question. What I can tell you though, is that I definitely do have a soft spot for side characters, no matter what the story and fandom I am currently writing for. From Snotlout and the Twins in HTTYD, to Phil and Marilla in AOGG, to Sabine Dupain-Cheng and Hanano respectively saving the day in my Shanghai's Special rewrite and Our Sleeves... They have always felt like a breath of fresh air and a chance to loosen up a bit.
They're new - they're different - they're only here for this one moment and this one particular purpose, which of course never stops them from doing whatever they desire and turning my carefully crafted scenarios upside down. And I love them so much for doing this every time.
(note that this doesn't apply to the main characters acting out of line like this. yes, Mashima-kun, I am looking at you)
I hope you're happy with the answers I could give you here :) Thanks so much for asking - and so quickly - for showing interest and readiness to read my writing related rambles. I hope I can deliver more of the actual writing sometime soon, too.
Um, you haven’t been active on Tumblr. Is everything okay?
Hi! Yes, I everything is going great actually - so great (and so busy) that I hardly have the time to come here, much less create anything worth posting...
Thank you so much for reaching out, though, it means a lot ^^ And since I think my life will get a little less busy soon, I really hope I can come back to tumblr in full glory as well :D
another ask box hiatus?
more like an... overall tumblr hiatus? i just haven't been coming here as often as before, also because i've been unable to create much on my own these past few weeks (will explain in the next ask-and-answer).
thanks for reaching out and asking though!
i haven’t seen u on my dash in FOREVER it sounds like u have a lot going on
hello there!
so, this ask has been in my box since forever (together with a few others), and i'm sorry not to have answered earlier. it's just like i said in one of my previous ask-and-answers, though:
life got busy.
i had my july days filled with the summer camp and some of my usual classes, meaning I worked more than ever when it comes to the amount of time (and kids are great but they do take a lot of energy, you know?). after that, i started my 2-weeks long vacation and, to be fair, checking that i'm active on tumblr again was the last of my concerns, i guess? I don't want to sound rude, it's lovely to have you ask about my well-being and all. rest assured, i'm still here and doing well. I'm just... more of an observer these days. i come back to see my favourite comics updated, to have a look at what my friends have posted recently... but that's pretty much it for now. I really do hope it will change, especially in this upcoming week.
stay tuned for more updates. and thanks for not giving up on me but asking instead <3
How many WIPS do you have right now?
i don't know if you're asking about my writing or my art but
the answer is
too much to even try and count
Serious question! How many people run this account?
three.
.
.
.
me, myself & I
U good m8?
i'm good! just busy (you can check the other a'n'a for details)
thanks for asking, my friend!
Will you still draw Bruno from Encanto for the six fanart thingy? no pressure tho just curious (I have moved on from the fandom lol)
Yep, he's still on the list. So... I'll get to drawing him eventually. Alas...
...when that will be, I can't say.
dead account?
not really. just busy living a life, earning money to pay my bills and trying not to despair over the fact that my drawing tablet apparently broke beyond repair :)
Are there any art you have discontinued? If so, why?
not so much as discontinued, more like i have piles and piles of wips that i'm still lying to myself about hoping to finish. but! as you might have seen recently, i'm actually picking some of them up now - so who knows, maybe i'll manage to get them all done eventually! thank you for the ask!
For the fanfic ask, how about M and R?? ☺️💕
M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with? Did it turn into a story?
Oh my goodness, for sure there have been some crazy ideas at a time, but I'll need a minute for this one. I do remember thinking of a Zutara: The Lion King AU, with the banished cocky, insecure prince and all, as well as a Hiccstrid: Anastasia AU (not so weird, really). Neither turned into a fic, although i did rephrase the "Rumour in St. Petersburg" into a "Rumour on the Isle of Berk" song, or at least bits of it (quite successfully, may i add). I blame @astridthevalkyrie and @wilderwestqueen for the last one.
also obviously virtually everything can be turned into an MLB au. just saying.
R: Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing?
I feel like i've been answering this question since the first ask I ever posted, but when it comes to fanfic, it will always be @cried2dream, as she is the one who personally and single-handedly dragged me into writing fanfic in the first place (with her own great writing, of course).
Fanfiction aside, I do pick up a style of writing pretty easily (if imperfectly), and so here it would mostly be L.M. Mongomery, Jane Austen and Andrzej Sapkowski (yes, the Witcher guy).
But also I will never not talk about Fyodor Dostoevsky and Boleslaw Prus, so I'm dragging them into this as well because I can.
And Tolkien. Of course there must be Tolkien.
happy 2023
happy 202...4? 😅
do u plan to delete this blog?
nope, never. I don't believe in deleting art-related blogs/youtube channels/writing pages unless there is a great cause for it. i mean, i know there are editors or writers or artists who've moved on from their hobbies, but you can bet I will forever want to watch their creations. so even if i disappear, or move on, for good (not that i intend to any time soon!), i have no intention of taking all that i've shared here with me :)
