it was just an accident (?)...

here i go again... gonna share what happened in my dream last night. hmmm i DNW it to happen in real life but idk why i reacted to it that way...

i just hope this will not happen again.... not that i am scared but its bothering me the whole afternoon... =/

Fear

This is sort of inspired by an idea from @dyingbetweenthepages. I altered it a bit, but here’s the original post she made about it.

Fear had been a huge part of Remus’s life ever since he’d been bitten. The fear of people uncovering his secret, the fear of the inevitable but painful transformation every full moon, and the fear he felt in his nightmares, usually involving the beast that had turned him into what he was.

But it wasn’t just his own fear. It was others too.

That was one of the things that came with being a werewolf. Whether he liked it or not, he was able to sense when the people around him were scared.

He’d sensed it in his parents for as long as he could remember. At first, he hadn’t understood what it was. It was like they gave off a different scent when they were scared. And they were often scared, although it was worst around full moons. It had taken Remus a while to realize it was his fault, and still, he didn’t know if they were scared for him or of him. After many years, he’d come to the conclusion that it was probably both, in a way.

When Remus was twelve and his friends confronted him, telling him they knew his secret, he would have expected them to be scared. But they told him they weren’t afraid of him, and he knew they weren’t lying. Only Peter seemed cautious around him, but only for a short while. He didn’t understand why they didn’t fear him. “You should be scared,” he told them. “I’m a monster.”

Because that’s what most people thought of him. That’s what they were supposed to think of people like him. Monsters, murderous beasts that would tear you to shreds at the first chance they got. Most people who knew what Remus, was feared him, just as they should. But James, Sirius and Peter weren’t scared.

During the war, it was so bad, and at times, almost unbearable for Remus to be around too many people. There was fear everywhere. Everyone was scared of losing loved ones or losing their lives. They feared Voldemort and the dark powers that followed him: most wizards didn’t even dare say his name out of fear. 

Even in the Muggle world, he couldn’t walk on the street without sensing fear coming from people around him: regular people trying to go about with their lives. But even though the Muggles didn’t understand what was going on, or how bad it really was, they knew something was happening, and they were growing uneasy.

One of the worst times, a moment Remus would never forget, was looking at James and Lily, his two best friends and sensing the fear that was all over them. It wasn’t just their scents, it was in their eyes too, and the way they spoke, trying and failing to stay calm.

“We can’t let anything happen to him.” Lily’s voice shook with emotions as she looked down at her son, sleeping peacefully in his crib, oblivious to the horrible faith that might meet him, if Dumbledore was right. “Not our Harry.”

James nodded in agreement. Perhaps, the strangest part of all of this was seeing James, the most carefree fearless person Remus knew, look so scared. But of course, he was scared. Scared that something would happen to his family, that Voldemort would come after his son, and maybe there wasn’t even anything he could do.

“It’ll be okay,” Sirius said, in what was clearly an attempt to appease his two best friends, but Remus could tell he didn’t really believe those words himself. Sirius was scared too, but he knew how to hide his fear for everyone but Remus.

“Sirius, I’m sorry, but I can’t let you come with us. It’s too dangerous.”

Remus had sensed the fear in Sirius, even from a distance. The fear that something would happen to his godson, who was currently at the ministry and possibly in danger.

“I can’t let anything happen to him!” Sirius said for the 5th time, his voice getting more desperate. “I promised James and Lily-” he cut himself off, staring down at the ground.

“I know,” Remus muttered. “And I’m sorry, but Dumbledore said you have to stay here.”

Sirius looked up and Remus could see the fear and panic so clearly in his eyes, and he could sense it, coming from him in the form of scents and he could hear it in his voice. “Remus, please. Every second we spend arguing puts Harry in even more danger!”

Remus knew that was true, but still, he couldn’t let Sirius leave the house. Dumbledore trusted him to not do so. Besides, it would be dangerous for Sirius.

“Please,” the man pleaded desperately. “I can’t let them down. Not again. I promised them I’d protect Harry.”

Remus sighed. “Okay,” he said, hoping he wouldn’t regret this decision later. “I suppose you’re right. Come on, we need to hurry up.”

As the two of them rushed to the ministry to help Harry, Remus tried to block out the fear, knowing that whatever happened now, it would be his fault.
