"D'you ever think about what your life's gonna be like after the military?"
Simon ponders your question for a moment, taking a drag from his cigarette before passing it to you, ignoring the warmth he feels as your fingers graze his own.
He exhales, a puff of gray smoke pouring from his parted lips before he allows his gaze to flicker to you, ignoring the warmth he feels as he realizes you had already been staring at him.
"Not really," he answers with an indifferent shrug of his shoulders. "Why? You've thought about it?"
You exhale the smoke from your lungs, lips already turning upward in a bright smile as you extend his cigarette back to him.
"Course I have. Gonna live out on some ranch with more animals than I can count on my fingers," you reply brightly, a chuckle breaking up your words as you realize just how childish you sound.
Simon takes another drag from the cigarette, then dropping it to the ground and snuffing it out with the toe of his boot.
"This ranch big enough for both of us?"
You raise an eyebrow at him.
"What do you think?"
The jingle of his keys echoes through the empty entrance hall of his newly purchased farmhouse. 2 acres of land that he could solely call his own. Just outside he can hear the clatter of the cattle's bells, the barking of the farm dog, and the bleats from hungry goats and sheep.
All his.
He places down the keys, looking around the empty farmhouse. His hand digs for something beneath his shirt, fingers curling around a second dog tag that rests against his own.
Simon tugs it from its place, allowing it to be seen from underneath his shirt.
His fingers trace the raised letters, eyes burning with the unfamiliar sensation of tears. Funny that he would cry now.
"I think it is big enough for us two," he whispers.
Simon's fingers stop their tracing, dropping the dog tag against his chest. He blinks, ignoring his tears as they cling to his bottom lashes.
"You'd love it here."
There was not a hint of surprise in Doran’s features when his brother was told to arrive with a little child in his arms. She must be another daughter of his. Yet that was not the case. The child apparently tried to steal something from the red viper but was caught. Oberyn has taken much interest in her and wanted to bring her to Dorne.
Oberyn first showed you to Elia who was accompanying him at the time. She immediately fell in love with your cuteness. The sight of her doting on you encouraged Oberyn further to take you with him. They are eager to present you with their home and shower you with all the lavish things they can offer. Elia also convinced Doran to let you stay with them in the sunspear.
Ellaria and the sand snakes were curious to see you. Ellaria knew you meant a lot to Oberyn because of how often he spoke of you and was willing to accept you into the family. Within such a short time, she grew fond of you. It made Oberyn ecstatic to hear her ask about you. Meanwhile, the sand snakes had varying reactions to their father and aunt bringing a child home.

Shouto and his friendship with some of his classmates, headcanons ~
note: this have been on my wip list forever, and I really wanna write something soft rn, so... yeah! also, if a friendship you enjoy isn't here, it's not because I don't like it, I just might have to do a part 2 <3
when Shouto started at UA, he hadn't had a real friend in his whole life, and frankly, at that point, he was okay with that
there's something about how you don't know how to miss something you've never had
but suddenly, Shouto has a few friends
he didn't even mean for it to happen, it just did
and oddly enough, it kept happening
before he knew it, he was spending one-on-one time with almost everyone in his class
and the oddest part of it all was that he enjoyed it a whole lot
some of them made sense to him, like with Mido-, no, Izuku, and Ochako, Iida, and even Bakugo, who he either had a lot in common with, or spent a lot of time with early on
others made no sense to him what so ever, but he enjoyed them all the same
like his "self-care nights" with Mina and Ochako
he wasn't sure why they kept inviting him, but he enjoyed it too much to ask
he enjoyed how they offer to paint his nails (he always says yes), and he thinks they both have very interesting thoughts and goals for being Heroes
and they always help filling him in on internet slang and pop-culture stuff, and never make fun of him for not knowing
the same goes for Sero and Denki, they'll occasionally have a chuckle when he asks very seriously about these silly stuff, but they both think Shouto is the coolest guy ever (he has no idea tho), and they listen to him talk about training and stuff like he's a genuis
Kirishima tries to help him with the pop-culture stuff too, but Shouto have learned that Kirishima is sometimes as clueless as him, he is just clueless with confidence
so Shouto always thanks him for his help, but does a quality check with Mina, Ochako, Denki, Sero or even Izuku
when Denki finds out Sero and Shouto have these little manga nights where they trade mangas and discuss them etc, he decides he wants something fun to do with Shouto, too!
he tries a few things, but it turns out they both really like drawing
so they take a couple of courses together online, tries different methods, coal, acrylic, pencils, oil paint, yanno, just a bunch
while Shouto isn't interested in eating much other food than soba (he does it, but out of necessities), but when he sees Sato bake one day, suddenly he's very interested in baking
it's kind of like art, you see?
Sato is a little shy about it at first, but after a while they have a real good time together
to be fair, Shouto had a good time the whole time, he couldn't tell Sato was shy at all lol
one day he hears that Izuku, Tsu and Koda is going to volunteer at a local animal shelter, and when Izuku invites him, he's very happy to join them
but while Shouto expected kittens and puppies, it turned out this was a wildlife centre
at first he was a little awkward, he knew how to handle kittens and puppies, but raccoons, badgers and foxes???
but quickly, he and Koda starts helping this little raccoon baby, and Shouto is delighted
not only is the thing fascinating, and cute, and happy to see him, it purrs when he cuddles it!
so now, the four of them do this every couple of weeks, or more when they have the time
one day, Shouto is in the common baths pretty late, and he's surprised to find Shoji there as well
he's used to finding others there at this time, but what surprises him is that Shoji isn't wearing his mask
Shouto isn't sure if he should mention it, but he's curious, so he does (the convo can be read at the end of this post)
after Shouto tells Shoji that he has a "nice face", Shoji actually starts taking his mask off sometimes when he and Shouto is alone.
Shouto doesn't know it, but Shoji is planning to talk to him about it some more, and is actually so grateful for that blunt, but honest conversation
Shouto isn't sure how it works, but sometimes he and Bakugo do homework and study together, and while Bakugo sometimes growls when Shouto mentions it, he is pretty sure it means they're friends now, because Bakugo is sure not denying it
and that's good enough in Shouto's book
one time in their second year, Shouto gets sent to Hawks' agency with Tokoyami when Endeavor is our of town, and Shouto is very happy to get someone else to study for a while
Tokoyami tries to warn him what Hawks can be like, that even though he's much better at including Tokoyami in the work now, and that they do more background work after Hawks' wings were injured in the war, Shouto is still very excited
but fifteen minutes in, Hawks has already make ten jokes about grilled wings, called Tokoyami his "lil' bro", shows Shouto the little Badtz-Maru plush he refers to as "Tiny-yami" and Shouto is just like
"...is he always like this?"
and Tokoyami just keeps doing his work while going; "yep."
and maybe Shouto understands Tokoyami a bit more, after that
did he learn a lot from this work study? sure.
did he also have some fun while doing? yes, he did.
does he also feel like he aged 50 years during the study? he sure as hell does.
Shouto and Shoji convo: Shouto: You're not wearing your mask. Shoji: No, not right now. Shouto: ...You have a nice face. Shoji: You not not have to lie, Todoroki. Shouto: You can call me Shouto. And I'm not lying, I hate lying. Shoji: Well, I know my face is not nice. It makes kids cry. Shouto: A lot of things makes children cry. My face does sometimes, too. Shoji: I didn't know that. I'm sorry. Shouto: That's not your fault. And I try not to take it personally. *silence* Shouto: Well, I'm going shower now, but I meant what I said. You're face is nice. Couldn't stop thinking about the Billy from one of my last chapters "Electric Feathers part 2". So I decided to risk it all and draw him even though I can't draw humans to save my life, or hands, or wings, but who cares?

"Please, please, my boyfriend! He's trapped inside, you have to save him!"
Bakugo took a brief second to look into your eyes — tear stained and wide with fear — before he unwillingly ripped them away to gaze at the burning building in front of him. He had a job to do.
"Don't worry," he reassured you, large hand on your shoulder guiding you further away from the flames. He gently shoved you in the direction of the sidewalk, closer to his peers already working to douse the fire, urging you to safety. "I'll take care of him."
Bakugo knew that time was of the essence. A house like yours, the burning flames could eat up the old wooden walls quicker than one could even blink. They could do a lot worse to a person.
Slipping the bulky shield over his face, he took quick strides into what was once your home, unafraid of the inferno. Body crouched low to peer past the thick smoke, he surveyed his surroundings. The walls had begun to crumble, revealing the large structural beams that held the skeleton of your home together — he could see the jagged, rusted nails poking out here and there. Above him, the panels that had once made up your ceiling began to droop and fall, weakened by the flames.
Passing by an open doorway, Bakugo peered into what looked to be a living room. The large space had already been engulfed. Your once warm and inviting space was charred. The billowing curtains were reduced to nothing but tatters. And on the floor, the single butt of a once lit cigarette — the start of the fire — thrown in through your always open window by a bum teen looking to make a quick buck. It would burn in the flames, along with everything else, leaving no evidence behind.
His survey was interrupted by a hacking cough coming from what he assumed to be the kitchen. Bakugo followed the sound, dipping low to avoid touching the doorframe that had begun to sag with its lack of support. The fire in the room burned hot and he had to squint past his mask to see into the smoke. It didn't take him long to spot his objective.
"Help, please! I hurt my ankle trying to escape, I don't think I can walk!" The helpless calls of a man — your boyfriend — pleaded.
Bakugo blinked slowly, stepping closer to the heap of a person huddled on the ground, trying to escape the smoke. He was curled up in a corner, one hand around a wound that spilled bright blood from a gnarly gash. It was likely given to him by one of the few fallen support beams surrounding the man, their nails sharp and biting. As Bakugo stepped forward toward the man, he heard the burning roof above him creak and groan.
"You the boyfriend?" he asked, voice only a few decibels above casual conversation — just enough to be heard over the fire.
"Yes, yes, please! Save me! I have to get out of here, I have to get back to her!"
Under his mask, Bakugo's lips curled into a sneering smirk. "Perfect."
He crouched low to the ground, gloved hands hauling up one of the support beams. With a heavy grunt, he lifted it, giving the man on the floor just enough room to begin crawling toward him. He watched as your boyfriend felt the floor with closed fists, gingerly picking his path toward Bakugo's boots.
When he was close enough, Bakugo dropped the support beam on his back.
Wind knocked out of him, the man on the floor could only let out a gasping groan as Bakugo placed one of his heavy boots down on the support beam. "What are you doing?!" he tried to scream, but the smoke in his lungs only made it come out as a wheeze.
Bakugo jerked his boot down, pinning the man to the floor and digging rusted nails into the flesh of his back. He reveled in the strangled cry the man made.
"Just keepin' my promise and takin' care of you," he responded, voice low and dark. "Shame I couldn't save you before the fire killed you."
He ground his boot down even further onto the support beam before stepping off, satsified with what he'd done. Crouching low once more, he picked up the man's face with a gloved hand.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of your girl." The man couldn't see the crazed look in Bakugo's eyes nor the wide grin on his face as he added, "Well, suppose she's my girl now."
Letting out a breath that was just shy of a laugh, Bakugo stood once more to leave. He ignored the pleading cries of the man on the ground as he stepped his way out of the kitchen. On his way out, his sharp eye caught the sight of a metal canister tucked away in the untouched part of your kitchen. Walking over to it, he smirked.
"Glad to know she likes camping," he muttered to himself, picking up the small can of butane you'd left attached to a portable stove. It felt heavy, full with fuel. He glanced back over to your boyfriend. "No evidence left behind."
As he left the room completely, he tossed the canister back into the flames of the kitchen. Maybe it had been overkill using the tiny crackles of his quirk to initially ignite the gas, but he couldn't take any chances. Running out of the building, he escaped with just enough time for the explosion to only lick at his heels.
Outside, Bakugo could already see you sobbing, tears leaving track marks down your soot covered skin. The scream that left your throat at the realization he'd left your home alone almost made him feel bad. Almost. But as you clung to him, overcome with emotion and needing the support of anyone that breathed, he knew it would only be a matter of time before you'd forget all about the man still left inside to burn.
It would only be a matter of time before you'd be completely and irrevocably his.

bonus: a summary of my opinion of Loid and Spy (then and now)
The Zorua and Conkeldurr story felt a little bit lonely, so I decided to give Conkeldurr an old friend. :)
I haven't got their story all figured out yet.. it's mostly just vague ideas..
I was thinking that Emboar and Conkeldurr met when they were very young. They grew up together and had a very strong bond.. At one point or another though, they went their separate ways for a few years. I haven't decided why quite yet.. perhaps the Emboar wanted to have kids and so went searching for a mate? But Conkeldurr wanted to go and explore the lands with his new found strength? Either way, there was no hurt feelings or broken hearts. They knew they would see each other again someday.
And see each other again they did. When Conkeldurr found this Zuora and adopted it, he ended up going back near his home lands looking for his friend. I'm considering that when they split they had both already fully evolved. Which is why Emboar recognized him instantly and why Conkeldurr would flag down the first Emboar he saw. Not Pignite.
Conkeldurr was thrilled to see that Emboar now had 4 piglets!! :D And Emboar was very happy that her dear friend had found this.. little black fluffy thing..? XDD
After this reunion, Conkeldurr and Emboar would stick together indefinitely. Conkeldurr was a new parent and could really use mama Emboars guidance/advice. And with Emboar now having 4 piglets to protect, having a muscle man to back her up was very useful.
But most of all, they were just really happy to be in each others presence again. They missed each other more than they thought they would..
Do you headcanon matt as a non-white? I ask because I remember you thinking it was bad for people to headcanon t*ny st*rk as nit white, but if you headcanon matt as a non-white latine isn't that the same thing? Sorry if this seems rude im just a little bit confused!
Alright, where do I start with this?
Firstly, I do not have anything against non-white headcanons overall, especially if they’re made by poc fans. I am Ecuadorian. I like Daredevil. Daredevil being Latine makes sense to me. There is a post I’ve reblogged a while back that talks about how Daredevil being Latine and or Filipino would make sense in terms of how he was raised and add something to his family backstory. I highly suggest you take a look at it and see where I’m coming from and why I headcanon Matt as Latine in the first place:

I don’t remember saying anything about having an issue with St*rk being headcanoned as non-white, but if you’ve been on my blog for long enough, you would know that I hate the character and that I am vividly anti t*ny st*rk and anti m/cu. He is a bad person. I don’t know what else you expect me to say. This is not a good comparison to make in terms of characters and where they’re coming from, especially when it’s a character I like vs a character I hate. Any headcanon added to T*ny to make him more diverse is already a no to me, especially when I’ve mostly seen these headcanons be made by white m/cu stans. Idk why anyone would want to headcanon him as non-white, but if they're a poc fan, then sure whatever. I hate the character but I’m not going to shit on their parade.
It really depends on the context of the character and why the headcanon would be made in the first place. Matt is a second-gen immigrant, raised Catholic, in a small apartment in Hell’s Kitchen with a single father barely making ends meet, and Matt loses his sight when he was a kid. As the post I referenced said, Matt’s story is an immigrant story, who tries to make it by going to school and lands a stable job despite the obstacles life throws at him. T*ny was born rich and wealthy, who has everything he needs, and is basically the Elon Musk of marvel comics. I'm not saying rich Latinos don't exist, but what's the point in making him poc. Another thing to mention is that Matt is the only Daredevil in his universe, the other versions being Fisk’s grandson and Darkdevil who are in different universes. If people want a poc Iron Man, Riri Williams is right there.
Also, a lot of people who headcanon Daredevil as Latine are Latine themselves.
Basically, I like Daredevil and so I headcanon him as Latine (Venuezelan with Columbian and Ecuadorian family members) because of how it would make sense for his character and family background. So no, headcanoning a lower middle class disabled man that tries his best to keep his city safe non-white is not the same as headcanoning a privileged, shitty billionaire non-white.
I hope all of this makes sense and clears up whatever confusion you had beforehand.
