A place that's called "desert of fools" and nobody goes there bc they believe it's bc everyone who goes there dies so they don't even try, but it's actually because the desert is populated by jesters

I want a desert of fools mod in Minecraft

Read the previous post to find out wtf i mean

But yeah i want to be able to travel far into the desert and discover a settlement of lil jestery guys that say heh instead of hmm

And they willingly follow the player and bring you things and if you give them something you can befriend them like a dog or a cat. They sit on the floor if you want them too. They're like between a villager and a creature

Thinking about Albert and Martin getting each other birthday gifts. They probably missed Albert's first birthday together bc he didn't carr enough to bring it up and Martin just didn't know. Albert would get Martin a bunch of stuff for hair and skincare, also vinyl records and books. Maybe some sweets w strawberry. Martin would get him something woolen, like a scarf, and some videogame cds and cartridges plus some nice bonus stuff like maybe a special edition version of some game. Also he'd make food. Maybe bake a cake or at least try, he's not as good at baking as he is at cooking everything else. He'd also probably get him some books bc Albert said he wants to start reading again. Maybe even just his own copies of books they already have, like Night Watch or something

The mortifying ordeal of realising that if I don't like any of the existing fanfiction I just gotta write my own

Anyway, Nimona the movie is a good movie, and Nimona the book is a good book. I loved both, although I prefer the book's narrative, but it's so good to be able to watch the movie and see these characters get an absolute happily ever after. It's like a choose your own adventure!

Researching people who hugely influenced queer community is sometimes very overwhelming. I looked up Alison Bechdel and her thoughts on trans ppl because I've been seeing her comics around lately and they seemed so cool. But bc of the whole Bechdel test obsession in radfem terf twitter circles I was super anxious. So I wanted to check. And found: an interview abt gender that is paywalled and I can't access it, some angry tweet talking about how "idk why Bechdel is so popular with trans people, they probably never read what she created", another tweet sharing her comics that seem to have Good takes on trans people (women and men), said comic strips, a really cool paper talking about her comics and an analysis of who even "qualifies" as a lesbian (pointing out that trans lesbians Do), and a blog post made by a terf abt how afraid she is that Bechdel test might now includes genderqueer and trans ppl and steals the word Women from cis women. Just. Holy fuck that's a lot of different things. I just wanted to know if she is like, a terf or not bc the whole Bechdel test obsession makes me worried. She seems like a smart person tho? I know these things are often complicated. I dunno I like her Dykes comic strips and I wanted to check if she is against my people or if she's normal bc I can't fucking take Not Knowing nowadays. Like I said the whole Bechdel test thing. Kinda gave her a reputation in my eyes bc of all the radfems on my old twitter timeline talking about it. I'm so glad I read that paper and that I deleted twitter years ago tbh

I keep bumping into people online claiming that Nimona comic was like soo terrible compared to the movie, that it was "poorly plotted" and "ugly" art-wise, and what the fuck is up with that. These people sound like they hadn't read the comic at all, and even if they did and didn't like it, that's Alright but nobody gives you the right to harass the novel fans who say they liked the comic book ending more or that the "happily ever aftering" disappointed them. The movie is Very different and I myself like the book ending because there's so few good tragedies that give me this feeling of "sometimes you just have to accept the good and the bad and move on". I really wish people understood the importance of these stories instead of claiming that everyone who didn't enjoy the happily ever after is "homophobic" (ahem I'm queer and trans and this movie made me feel seen, and I still will come back to the book more often than the movie, unless I'm in a very specific mood for a happily ever after that I Wish these characters could have in the book, but they COULDN'T. That's the fucking point.)

It's not just about the way the movie ends, it's about the way it differs from the original book and the message that book had. That's what some people didn't like. I myself think it's great to have two messages with these characters. We can appreciate the tragedy of the novel (TRAGEDIES ARE IMPORTANT AND CATHARTIC AND NOT JUST EMOTIONAL SADISM) and we can smile at the movie's ending which is what we all Want but realistically right now we Can't have. Both have their meaning to different people. Both are important. I love both in different ways. I'm happy the movie came out. I just wish some movie fans would stop ruining the fun for the book fans by calling the novel really unjustified words. It means so much to us and it found a lot of us in very dark times, and to be impolite for a second, if I had some wee punk tell me that the book sucks and is pointlessly sad and the art is bad while they were in one room with me and not online, I would start a physical fight and not regret it at all. The book was my suppressed anger relief and my quiet subtly queer childhood when I was 14. Many people will have the movie as their openly queer childhood. But if any of you think it's okay to disrespect what others hold dear because you don't enjoy it or dislike the art, You Suck As A Person. Grow The Fuck Up.

Another thing, ND started making Nimona as a webcomic, in art school, as a way to share feelings he didn't know how to deal with. He was a regular artist telling his story. I repeat. HE WAS A REGULAR ARTIST. Like many people on this goddamn website. It's okay to dislike things, but calling Nimona the comic poorly plotted or ugly is how you kill the young indie artists' desire to share their personal stories. Styles are subjective, feelings are messy, and if you don't like either of those things and want to be super mean abt it, first of all you're really limiting yourself and will miss so many wonderful and thoughtful works, and secondly IT'S OKAY TO JUST QUIETLY WALK AWAY. And also, excuse you, this book is what gave us the movie. Maybe don't show this level of disrespect, if you can't show respect?

Edit: i got very into the respect for imperfect endings thing But i think it's important to say that the book ending actually doesn't fit the description of tragedy, it's just how I view it in my relation to Nimona's anger, but it's actually very hopeful and the characters Do find love and things are looking up for them in the book! It's not a typical happily ever after but that doesn't mean it's just pure suffering. We have the word bittersweet for that

Looked up t4t 18+ just to see what would happen, discovered a Tumblr blog of an older butch and had elements of my worldview changed in several ways. There were also some really good trans nudes. Also loving men is a gift

SPOILERS FOR GO S2 and typos bc I'm sleepy

Okay let me talk about The Evil Genius of Neil Gaiman (tbh i don't actually think he's that evil, but he's Definitely a genius in my eyes)

This is all written after just finishing s2, I'm basing it off my initial emotions and stuff.

So, let's talk about The Kiss.

Obviously my or anyone else's fan Wants regarding the seasons aren't supposed to be made canon, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to have those Wants. I for one wanted them to Touch, in some way that would signify how much they care for each other, like a hug or holding hands visibly. But I wasn't really a part of the crowd that wanted them to consummate their relationship with a kiss or anything else that is considered typical romantic gestures (other than a kiss on the cheek, i think it'd be cute). Not because I hate queers having fun (queers who don't kiss for whichever reason are still queers), but bc I really enjoyed how their whole dynamic is that they so obviously care for each other in a very queer way but I felt as if a Typical romantic affection thing would mess with it. And boy oh boy am I NOT disappointed in what happened. I liked it in a sense that I didn't enjoy it at all. Because that's not how it's supposed to happen. Here's my read on it:

So. The face and noise Aziraphale makes when they part. He DIDN'T LIKE IT. I can't say he didn't maybe want to kiss Crowley, but he Clearly didn't like what happened there. He says "I forgive you" and it can obviously refer to a whole lot of things Crowley said before, I think it does, but it also very clear to me that he's talking about what Crowley did then and there. Because he didn't like the kiss at all. I rewatched that moment and I just can't find it in me to believe the face and noise he makes are happy ones or it's because the kiss has ended. I just don't believe that.

Now here's what makes it Really good: they never fucking talk. Kissing your partner, crush or old friend without asking for consent In Some Way is not very good and is in fact a violation of their private space (one that may not Have to result in a fine and a restraining order, but rather a personal conversation, but it's a violation regardless). What they Had to do was Talk. They both show in that very conversation that they care about each other Immensely, and want to be together. But here's the thing: they never say what actually matters in all of it. They say what they want to happen but they never say why. They never say "I want to be with you because I love you and care about you and want us to be together and safe" or anything similar. I'm also low-key wondering if they might be feeling different kinds of love (romantic vs platonic or queerplatonic) but it doesn't matter really. All of those can include kisses. What matters is that Crowley never said what's on his mind. Aziraphale never Actually did either. They said they want to be "us" or "together" but never say Why. And that lack of clear and proper communication is what causes things like unfortunate kisses to happen. AND they spend the entire season trying to solve romance with tropes , they clearly don't understand yet how it Actually works and what Crowley does there hit me so hard because it's something I've done when writing my own characters, both unintentionally and on purpose: he uses a trope in the hopes it'll solve the problem at hand. That if they kiss it'll all be okay. AND IT WILL NOT, and now it's kinda less okayer than it was before too

Anyway I needed to get this out of my system, if you disagree you don't have to tell me, also I am firm in my "Aziraphale didn't like the kiss" stance so don't fight me on it please be nice

I just want to say that I'm so upset that there's very few male covers of "What is this feeling" from Wicked and there's not a single one of them that sounds fitting for Martin and Albert. I want to make an animatic with them!! I fell back into the Wicked hole and this song is literally them what the hell I'm so upset

I've been seeing a lot of Nimona fanarts where she's drawn skinny and I want to say that A: this is the movie's fault bc yes she is skinniER there, but also B: don't let anyone fool you kids, Nimona is a chubby gal! I mean I suppose in the movie she isn't, but I really hope people remember or learn that comic Nimona is fat and you can Clearly tell bc her shape is in contrast with every other main character

Edit: the fanarts are mainly for the movie and even in the movie she isn't a complete rectangle, her hips are wider than her shoulders. So yeah. Not even movie accurate. And fanarts don't have to be accurate but for the love of god take time to figure out a body, it's good for you
