Ill Make A Follow Up Post With Some Clearing Ups - Tumblr Posts
Im gonna say it because it’s been on my mind for a bit. a lot of tumblr fanfiction is meant for female aligned reader. I, as a trans male have put up for so long with reading fem aligned fics and posts. It’s hard because even if I want to read something with a male insert the quality is not the best and it’s written strangely (in my opinion). When written correctly for ftms and male aligned people it’s a good read, don’t get me wrong. It’s just sooooo difficult to sift through it all. To the people I see all over tumblr getting pissed of because some account put a DNI note for fem aligned people: hush. It’s not harming you. We’re trying to create an environment for ourselves as males the same as females have done with a ratehr LARGE chunk of fanfiction. I see and have even been the center of being fetishized by some cis women (most of y’all are great but there are a few) that DNI tag is an attempt to make the place safer. I think it’s wrong to only be attracted or a majority of someone’s attraction to another person being centered around being trans or non gender conforming. We aren’t a display. We aren’t for your entertainment. We aren’t objects. We aren’t “hot” or “sexy” just because we are trans. women are objectified all the time for existing, I find it strange how they aren’t more understanding. I see far more cis women reading gay fanfiction or reading things in the xmale! Tags. Read what you’re gonna, at the end of the day I can’t stop you. Just please stop being petty and commenting or reblogging and saying “you can’t tell me what to do I’m gonna read it anyways” read it anyways, idc. But just knows it’s weird for you to go out of your way to read xmale! Tagged posts and fics if you align female. It’s a very small niche environment compared to the rest and there are thousands of other female aligned fics to read. Don’t like it? DNI then. The big point here is that the fem aligned DNI tags aren’t to shit on the women, its to create a better and bigger place for the transmasc fics. I feel like the xmale! Tag is almost suffocated by the xfem! Tags. I even see tons of xfem! Tagged posts that include the xmale! Tag for some bizarre reason. Maybe it’s to try and reach more areas of tumblr by using more tags, but that’s only going to invite an audience not interested in your fic/post. this isn’t gatekeeping, i’m giving my raw opinion.
