I'm probably entirely unqualified for the discussion, so just to make my viewpoint, where I'm coming from etc known: Working off of books and the internet here, and often somewhat naive. Noticed a tendency for (typically unscientific) use of the word megafauna to seem a tad overbroad (yeah to specifically reference your response one definition I've seen several times is 'equal to or larger than humans.' [screaming]). Decided to make a lil post about being annoyed since, regardless of what's objectively right/scientific, the common use of megafauna had strayed. Since I'm more a descriptivist than a prescriptivist, I tried to propose some alteration (the parenthetical gigafauna).
Just thought it would be good to get all this clear and known
Mildly annoyed by the vagueness of megafauna.
It applies to the properly mega fauna like elephants, rhinos, giant ground sloths sure.
But the actual definition has low enough standards that tapirs are megafauna. Also a lot of deer, and depending on where you look wolves.
Sure, those are big. But are they mega?
Do we need a whole other term (gigafauna?) to refer to the properly awe-inspiring critters?

Scenario # 1: HB Four
Four didn't seem to talk as much as you thought he would,not that the boy didn't talk but still. It was confusing to say the least. He was kinda weird but when he split,Oh god,It was like heaven on earth,you would never admit it though. The different personalities were unique,even though they were.JERKS. Vir hates everyone,so does red, blue doesn't like talking to people and vio well,you didn't know much about him.He was stunning. You've never said it, so you thought you would give it a try.
"Four,Your quite stunning." You turned away but you could feel his gaze on you.
"What did you say?" God you were blushing so hard, Your eyes closed, you decided to face him anyway.
"I said you're stunning" slowly you opened your eyes to see a dumbfounded,blushing Four looking at you.
"You're quite lovely as well,No absolutely beautiful" His eyes were a crimson red as he talked. You knew who it was.
Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
