A/N: This can also include Jason Todd as Robin and Arkham Knight, but this is in general more Red Hood oriented as that is his main alias. Batman: Wayne Family Adventures and comic book versions of Jason are the main inspirations for his character but all are welcome to imagine whichever version they like.

Somewhere along the lines, your mind drifted off to a daze. Eyes eventually drooping from the words in the page you were on, arms giving out to stillness, slowly sinking. And given how quiet Wayne Manor's library was right now, especially with your lying position, resting on the couch with a blanket, it didn't take much time for you to begin nodding off to sleep.
Daylight peaked through the gap of the curtain windows, showing off one of Gotham's less gloomy days. You weren't sure how much time had passed, but you knew from going in and out of consciousness that 20 minutes went by until you felt a shift of movement near you. Which came from who else but your boyfriend, whose thigh you used as a pillow as you two read your own respective books.
It was a mundane activity you'd both partake from time to time. Given how much of a bibliophile Jason was, you considered him to be the most knowledgeable one on the English subject than the others.
In the quiet atmosphere, a soft and low chuckle reached your ears, faint, but noticeable. A trace of a finger brushes very lightly over your cheek, pushing an unwanted strand of hair away.
That was when you felt the pressure of lips slotting against yours. It was chaste and gentle, the intent clear in the loving pace the kiss has set. In your hazy mind from slumber, you aren't sure if you're reciprocating the action back, but it's only fleeting for a few seconds before you break apart, though you can still feel his lips brushing yours.
"Still with me, Princess?" Jason whispers, voice mellow and soothing. The sound made
"Mm... Jay." you mutter out, blinking your eyes to clear the drowsiness from your vision as you gazed up at your boyfriend.
"There's my girl." he cooed, tone light, brow and mouth quirking upwards as he stared at you fondly and with a hint of mirth.
You gave a small groan, stretching your back a bit before turning to face his direction, resting on your side, body curling up a bit.
"And here I thought the whole wake up kiss would work." Jason quips, running a hand through your (h/c) locks, leaving you to sigh in content. "Just not my Briar Rose, huh?"
"Can't help it.." you mumble, snuggling your cheek against his thigh more. "Lost focus."
"That's okay, baby. You're adorable either way." he says, grinning at the light blush spreading over your cheeks before his smile fell. "You did take a pretty hard fall last time." the man said, tone softly low. Carrying an expression of concern and solemnity; mind going back to the night he witnessed you crash landed to the ground with a loud thud, body laying still from the painful impact despite your protective suit. Jason went on full panic and concern when it happened, instantly making his way over to you to assess and help with any possible injuries.
Patrols never end up predictable, and in a city as grim and dangerous as Gotham, Gothamites knew that just as well as the Batfamily. It may not deal with the amount of Metahumans as the Flash, or otherworldly as Superman, but you could never let your guard down in a city like Gotham. People could attest clearly when they'd witness Batman or his mentees, former and present, take a rough beating.
So when you and Jason were paired together for patrol a few weeks back, the night didn't end as steady when you had some bruised ribs and sore spots. And you can definitely bet Jason turned into a mother hen in your healing process. Getting ice or warm pads for you, making sure you weren't in strainable positions, delivering pain meds, cuddling or simply touching you when you wanted it. Though your boyfriend: the well known elusive son, so called black sheep of the Waynes, the Red Hood, was subtle and very private about his emotions, including expressing his own concerns over his adoptive family when something would happened, he never held back with you.
You mean everything to Jason, his whole world, his home, the one good constant thing in his life. Through all the pain and hell he's lived passed, you were there through all of it, staying by his side no matter the ugly and messy parts that came with the aftermath of his resurrection. Part of what he loves about you. You made him feel heard, and that his feelings mattered no matter what. Wrong or right.
It was prominent fact to everyone, including his friends and other heroes, that both Jason Todd and Red Hood never mess around when it came to you and your well being. It was obvious to anyone how quote-unquote "whipped", worded by Roy Harper and Tim, the former Robin is with you. Of course you were just as smitten with him in return, but it was something else to anyone's eyes to see the complicated and dangerous man be a real softie.
What could he say? You are his princess, the center of his life, in charge of his heart, and he'd be damned if he didn't love you with everything he's got.
Even after all these years, Jason still wasn't all that expressive, didn't know how to talk so openly with his heart. He only knew how to do any of that with you, gentle and sweet. But he at least made sure to get his point across, and the people who knew him well understood the easiest.
Green tinted blue eyes darkened with worry and gentleness as Jason peered down at you. "Hurt anywhere, Princess? Need anything?"
You mildly shake your head, choosing to take the other hand that wasn't petting your head to cradle against your chest. "'M fine, just sleepy." your eyes open again to look back at him. "Was worried about you last night, though."
You of course knew Jason didn't receive any injuries when he went to sleep after his patrol, where he gently pulled you into his chest. He would've told you outright if he did, even if it wasn't anything serious. Because he'd expect the same from you. But that was just part of being in a relationship with a vigilante, technically a superhero. Even more so when it goes both ways, mainly operating in the same city, being a part of Batman's circle. Back in the old days when Jason was Robin and you, his Batgirl. Even under different monikers, Gothamites were quick to realize that the young love between the second pair of former sidekicks still carried on into adulthood.
"Hey, you know I'm all right. Not even a single bruise." Jason reassured, leaning to rub his nose affectionately with yours. "You should think about yourself."
"I know." you sigh, rubbing your eyes before slowly pushing yourself to sit up with Jason's help, who put an arm around your back in support. "How long have I been asleep?"
"About 20 minutes." he answered. "I didn't even realize you were dozing off until you plopped the book down when your arms went limp."
You then picked up the book you were reading that had slipped from your stomach to your lap. In your drowsy state, you had forgotten to mark where you had left off.
You went over the pages to remember where you were at but a small shudder suddenly went down your spine. You felt Jason brushing your hair away to press his lips against the back of your neck, causing you to let out a small yelp in response. A muffled laugh escapes him, making you try to squirm away from the vibration on your skin. Jason only continued to hold you securely while making sure not to touch your sides.
"That was too cute." he laughs softly against your shoulder.
"You know that spot is a no touch zone!" you cry out, trying to squirm out of his embrace, though not putting actual effort into escaping.
"I can't help it when you make noises like that, Princess." chuckled Jason, resting his nose to your cheek, lips ghosting over it. "Makes me want to see what other sounds I can get out of you."
"Save it for later." you playfully huff, trying to keep from giggling at his continuous doting. "I want to know if Marius finds out how he survived."
Jason's mouth goes over to your ear, murmuring "We've done enough reading. A break would do us good. You sure I can't convince you otherwise?"
Your face feels warmer, body stiff from nerves, heart fluttering. You knew what he was really implying behind his words. âNope.â
Then, Jason lines his lips to your temple, to your cheekbone, before traveling his way down the side of your neck and the peak of your shoulder from his borrowed t-shirt you were wearing. The touch of his kisses were soft and feather-like, causing your body to instinctively lean for more.
Thatâs when the man aligned his mouth back to your ear, speaking quietly as if he was sharing a forbidden secret. "âI love thee with a love that shall not die, till the sun grows cold and the stars grow old.â"
A giggle immediately slips from you at his antics. Part of Jasonâs obvious love of literature was talking in quotes from classics.
âThereâs nothing like using Shakespeare to woo a girl huh, you old soul.â you tease.
He exaggeratedly rolls his eyes, âFine then, how about this one.â he dips you down a little to face him. ââTo love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life.ââ
âVery funny.â it was your turn to roll your eyes, smile easily spreading.
âWhat my princess wants she shall receive.â smugly grins Jason, the white streak of his bangs falling down his forehead.
âYou are a dork.â you snort before grabbing a hold of his shirt, pulling him into a sweet kiss, which he returned eagerly.

"Aww, did you see that..!" quietly fawned Stephanie, crouching on one knee as she peaked through the gap of the library doors, observing your shared laughter and playful kisses. âTheyâre too cute!â
âVery happy, too.â nods Cass.
"Jason likes to quote Shakespeare..?â Tim inquires in slight bewilderment, eyes wide, wondering if he misheard your previous sentence.
"Uh, guys? Aren't we kinda intruding in on their moment..?" Duke whispered, feeling a sense of guilt and awkwardness.
âTo think Todd carried a poetic side.â muses Damian, he too being perplexed at the new information of his rebellious older brother.
âWe should leave them alone.â Dick murmured out, not wanting to disrupt you by giving away their positions. It was always a sight to see how easily you could get Red Hood, Mr. âTough Guy and Edgelordâ to melt with just a touch and a few words.
âIndeed.â a familiar voice spoke beside them, making the siblings turn to see Alfred. He looked at them unimpressed, brow raised. âNow please let Master Jason and Miss (Y/N) be, they would certainly not appreciate being gawked over.â
âButâ!â Stephanie quietly whines.
âOff you go.â Alfred ushers, tone firm.
âCâmon,â agreed Dick. âbefore Jason enters guns blazing and (Y/N) brings out the tasers.â

The warmth of Jasonâs hand in yours leaves a flutter in your chest as you walk together to the ballroom. Your eyes sweep over the decorations and string lights around the walls, giving the place a charming festive vibe, nothing too overwhelming but subtly noticeable of the holiday season.
Jason gives you a firm, yet gentle squeeze as you both come to stand in the center of the room. The white front streak of his hair curling slightly against his forehead, green tinted blue irises carrying a lighter shade. His tall, big bulky frame that could hide you easily gently pulls your own body towards him. A small smile stretches across his lips as he gazed softly down at you, hands resting above your midsection.
You naturally press yourself against him, leaving no space between you as you wrapped your arms around his mid underneath his signature leather jacket. Cheek resting against his chest as you met his look. There was nothing safer than being in Jason Toddâs embrace, with his warmth and scent indulging you. Your heart feels nothing but love and contentment right now.
âAlfred sure doesnât disappoint. I think heâs upped his game this year.â you muse.
Jason hums lowly, leaning to press his lips against your forehead, resting his chin above your head as you two began to transitionally sway your bodies. âThatâs Alfred. Thereâs pretty much nothing he canât do. Weâd have all gone mad without him.â
âSo,â you trail off. âdoes bringing me all the way over here have something to do with hiding from the flock?â
A small snort escapes your boyfriend as he raised his head up, amused at your remark. âThatâs one way to call them.â
âWell it was either that or colony, and the latter doesnât exactly carry the same ring.â
â.. You just always happen to know that difference?â
You gave a nonchalant shrug. âKinda. But that doesnât answer my question, Jay.â
Jason chuckles before he wrapped his arms fully around your body this time, lifting you to his height for a moment before placing your laced sneakers to stand atop his combat boots. Considering Christmas Day was just family and not a party for the upperclass or extended relations of the Waynes, everyoneâs attire was casual. One of which happened to be a big red hoodie you stole from your lover. Not that Jason ever minded, he always thought red suited you. It was just a plus to see his own clothes almost hide your figure because of the size difference.
His action surprised you for a second but you went along, curious to see where he was going with this. It didnât stop him from rocking the both of you together, turning it into a slow waltz that had you two moving about in a steady circle.
âIs it a bad thing for a man to want to spend time alone with the love of his life?â
âNo.â you purse your lips, cheeks flaring up from your boyfriendâs honest words. âBut I am curious as to why weâre waddling around like penguins.â
âThought itâd be easier for you.â
âAs if thatâd be enough, you ridiculous 6ft giant.â
Jason throws his head back with a laugh. Damian had once said that Jason was the most emotional of all of Bruceâs children, Robins specifically. And it was true, when Jasonâs feelings would pile up and expand, heâd be overwhelmed with struggles on how to let them out and express it. Which became a pivotal thing of what kept the second Robin and The Bat divided for a few years.
The anger, the hurt, the vengeance. It took a long time for the former duo to sort out their issues, including Jasonâs siblings. Even now, he still carried uneasiness in being more open with them upon certain circumstances. His deep level of vulnerability only came out to you. Only with you did he feel comfortable to be gentle and soft, loving and surprisingly romantic on his familyâs part, but also show his pain. And considering that the two of you have been pretty much innocently dating since around the end of childhood in your early vigilante years, there came unwavering trust. Just as much as Jason was capable of feeling the deepest abyss of resentment and pain; when he loved, he loved the deepest anyone could have imagined about him.
You were each otherâs first everything, and that romance only picked up where it left off when Jason returned to Gotham after being resurrected and serving the League of Assassins. Still, hearing Jason unhesitatingly claim you as something as deep as his soulmate and not just his girlfriend left butterflies in your stomach.
âWith the amount of kids Bruce has adopted wandering everywhere, I canât even hold you for longer than 5 minutes without one interruption.â Jason mumbles out, hugging you as closely as he could.
You deliver him a sweet smile as you moved your arms to different positions. One in his bigger hand, the other resting on his shoulder from behind his back.
âYou have me now.â you say, face relaxed.
Jason returns your expression, gazing fondly. âAnd hopefully longer. Youâll have to get rid of me first, Princess.â
âOut of the question.â you reply, leaning your head on his shoulder. The two of you swaying to your own music, the string of lights shined down on you enchantingly.
Doing the same against your head, Jason begins to lowly murmur in your ear. ââO my Luve is like a red, red rose thatâs newly sprung in June; O my Luve is like the melody thatâs sweetly played in tune.ââ
Jason leaves a kiss on your temple. ââSo fair art thou, my bonnie lass, so deep in luve am I; and I will luve thee still, my dear, till aâ the seas gang dry.ââ
Then a trail follows down your neck, eliciting a giggle from you, a sound Jason adored hearing. ââTill aâ the seas gang dry, my dear, and the rocks melt wiâ the sun; I will love thee still, my dear, while the sands oâ life shall run.ââ
A small gasp then escapes you when he pick you up and twirls you around in a full circle. When he settled you back on his own feet, Jason finished the last stanza. ââAnd fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare thee weel awhile!ââ he moves to brush his lips against yours, just barely. ââAnd I will come again, my luve, though it were ten thousand mile.ââ
You synchronically kiss each other firmly the second he finished. Your arms around his neck and his around your waist in a tight hold.
Staying that way for minutes long you regrettably had to pull back to breathe, lightly panting.
Easing your footing to the floor, Jason reaches under his leather jacket. Pulling out a real red rose; grinning cheekily as your mouth parted in surprise.
Taking it from his grasp, you inspect the vibrant red colour of the petals admiringly. it matched the hoodie you wore well.
The giddiness of a schoolgirl over her crush never left you when Jason did these things. Show off his love of classic literature as a way to woo and convey his love for you. A side he secretly keeps just for your own eyes and ears. Even then, Jason was good at being verbal with you in his own words and small gestures that leave you in a mushy state.
âHow on theme.â you jest with flushed cheeks, pleasantly smiling. âDid you steal one from Alfredâs garden?â
âGod no.â Jason lightly retorts, shaking his head at the thought. âBesides, Alfredâs grown white roses this time.â he presses a kiss to your warm cheek. âPeople do say Christmas is for children and couples. So, have I impressed you, Princess?â
âYou always know how.â you softly answer, smooching his jaw before trailing your lips to his mouth.
âI take that as high praise, sweetheart.â grinned Jason.
His quick instincts come out when you suddenly launch yourself at him, wrapping your legs around his waist and arms securely encompassing his neck. Jason uses his forearms to support your backside, mwerily welcoming the multitude of kisses charging towards his lips.
âThe lights and the flower were a nice touch.â you say approvingly, mouth now an inch away from Jasonâs, foreheads now touching.
âRomantically Christmassy?â
âUh-huh.â
Jason looks satisfied with himself from your answer, making you laugh. He playfully swatted your ass in response, earthy eyes gleaming with light mischief.
âYa know, since weâre the only couple here, thereâs still some mistletoe around that could be of more use to us than the flock.â
âGuess we have to start looking, then.â
âWe could even sneak out a champagne bottle. Or two.â
âIn this house? With Bruceâs taste, thatâd cost thousands, Jay.â
âItâs not like the Old Manâs gonna miss out on anything he canât buy again. Itâll be fun.â

A/N: Poem used for this is a Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns.

(A female Jason Todd fanfic)
Jayla knew what the other vigilantes thought of her. In their eyes, she was nothing but a reckless, impulsive, murderer who they only kept around because she was a valuable ally.
A valuable soldier.
And even though it hurts her to know that her family will never love her unless she quits her current lifestyle, sheâll do anything for them. No matter the price.

The Price You Have To Pay
Lex Luthor was a man with many enemies. And because of that, his private office was a highly secured facility.
Youâd have to pass dozens of security protocols before you could even step foot in the building.
But considering the fact that his security team caught a little bird with his wannabe team of superheroes sneaking around, he suspected that he would be getting a visitor soon.
A hot vigilante with dark hair that also contained a stubborn streak of white, perhaps.
He could hear small footsteps getting louder.
Lex leaned forward just as the door swung open. Red Hood walked in like she owned the place.
He eyed her up and down, trying to hide the smirk that was beginning to form as he felt the tension between them steadily rise.
âYou know that ignoring the dress code isnât really a good way to start our negotiations.â Lex drawled, impatiently tapping his fingers against his desk.
Red removed her helmet before raising a perfectly arched eyebrow, âI wasnât about to walk into your building half-naked.â
âGood thing that no oneâs here to see you then.â
Redâs plump lips formed a pretty scowl, âLex.â
âHood.â
Lex didnât know how long they stared at each other before Red gave in, shutting her eyes as she allowed a seductive smile to grace upon her face.
This time, Lex couldnât hold back his grin. âYou know what to do.â
She didnât protest as she slowly took off her clothes, leaving her with only a pair of matching dark red lingerie.
No matter how many times he saw her like this, Lex still felt like he forgot how to breathe.
The heroes might hate her, but even they wonât be able to deny the fact that her beauty is unmatched. One could even go as far and say that her looks pass Wonder Woman's.
She was absolutely breathtaking.
âAre you done staring at me?â The amusement laced in her voice brought him out of his trance.
A predatory glint appeared in his eyes, âFor now.â
Red leaned forward. âWhat do you want, Lex?â Her voice was soft as her lip curled upwards.
Without even thinking, he grabbed her hips. Dragging her entire body towards the older man so that she was straddling him. âNow we can talk.â
Even though her domino mask was still on, Lex knew her well enough to know that she was rolling her eyes. âPerv,â she couldnât help but laugh out as she shifted to a more comfortable position.
âIâm more of an opportunist than a pervert, darling. I mean, no one with a brain could ever resist this sight?â He slapped her ass before giving her a mocking smile. âOne day, Iâm going to wreck your body with all the other suitors you have until the only thing youâll remember is how good it feels to be under our control.â
The vigilante let out a surprised breath of air, âAs fun as that sounds, it probably wonât happen.â He felt her calloused, yet still, somehow soft fingers trail over his chest, âConsidering my expertise, you should know how expensive I can be.â
He squeezed her ass, âThen I guess itâs a good thing that weâre some of the richest people in the world.â
She ignored his last remark, âWhat do you want, Lex.â
âCome on, Red.â he groaned in annoyance, âIt was just starting to become fun.â
She shot him an irritated look, âSorry,â she said, not sounding apologetic at all, âBut Iâm in a bit of a time crunch right now.â
Lex sighed, for once letting it go. He knows how much of a rough time sheâs been having with her other coworkers.
He swears that superheroes are never satisfied.
âWhat do you want,â she repeated. This time, he could hear a bit of impatience leaking in her voice.
âThis one shouldnât be as difficult as the other agreements weâve had over the past few months,â
âJust say it,â Red interrupted.
âIn a few weeks, thereâs going to be a convention in Dubai. And we all know how dangerous these meetings can be sometimes.â
âIf by dangerous, do you mean boring?â Redâs voice cut in as rested her head on his shoulder. âYou just need someone to entertain you.â she teasingly accused.
âYou caught me.â he said dryly, âThis convention is going to last at least a week, so prepare your excuse or something.â
Red leaned away from him, âExcuse for what? No one will even notice that Iâm gone.â she waved off, âUnless thereâs a mission that the bats canât solve, of course. But even then, it barely ever happens, so Iâll be fine.â
For some reason, hearing those words come out of her mouth made his jaw clench. âYet every time a hero is in a situation where they wonât be able to win, you still try your hardest to bargain for their life.â He scoffed, âEven though they canât even bother to treat you decently.â
Red refused to meet his eyes as she clenched her fists. âItâs not their fault. You know that they canât trust me after what Iâve done.â
âBut you havenât done anything wrong.â
âI tried to kill-â
Lex let out a harsh laugh, âIf you wanted to kill them, you wouldâve.â
Red flushed, âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
He raised an eyebrow as he tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. âReally? Cause I know about all the training you went through with the League of Assassins. You were holding back. You tried to keep the madness of the pit at bay.â she still refused to meet his gaze, her eyes stubbornly staying on the floor. âAnd because theyâre all well- alive, you succeeded.â
Red shifted, her ass grinding against his cock. She leaned forward and he felt her lips brush against his neck, âStop talking.â she softly muttered.
Lex gently pushed her away, he was not done talking about this subject. âDo they know?â he questioned. âDo they know that if you wanted them dead, they would be? Do they know-â
She gripped his shirt, âStop.â
He ignored her, she needed to hear this. âWith how badly they treat you, one would wonder why you go to such extreme lengths to help them. They donât even care about you. Theyâre only-â
âPlease.â Redâs voice wavered, filled with insecurity. Her hands were still tightly clenching onto his shirt. âJust- just stop.â she pleaded.
Lex froze, finally realizing just how much his words affected her. His face immediately softened. He hadnât wanted to hurt her. He just wanted to show her that they werenât worth her time.
âIâm sorry,â he apologized. He carefully lifted her chin so that his eyes would meet hers. âWhat I said was uncalled for. I shouldâve phrased it better.â
She gave him a small smile that didnât quite reach her eyes, âItâs fine.â Lex didnât know who she was trying to convince, him or her. âYou arenât exactly wrong.â
âNo, it isnât fine. I really am sorry, my little agnar.â He ignored how her whole face seemed to turn red at the nickname, âI shouldnât have been so-â he searched his head for the right word. â-inconsiderate about your feelings.â
Red only nodded, âIs there anything else you need for the release of my brother and his team?â
âIâll also need you to pay for all the damage they caused,â he admitted.
âAgain?â When he nodded, she only sighed and got off his lap. âOkay, Iâll send you the money soon.â
âDo try and get these heroes in line, Red. Some people have plans, and itâll be so much easier to complete them when a group of teenagers playing superheroes arenât around to mess it up.â
Red only gave him a smirk, her small breakdown already forgotten. âYou know that I canât do that. If you have any complaints, you can always report it to the Justice League.â
âAs if theyâd actually do something about it.â
Red laughed, âYou arenât wrong. They preach about saving the world, yet they ignore all the damages theyâve inflicted when they do just that.â
âSince youâre in a bit of a time crunch, I think I might just let you go now.â He licked his lips as he gave her body another attentive glance, âJust a warning though, our next meeting will probably be more intense than this one.â
She gave him a mischievous look, âIs that a promise?â
âYou know it.â
She gave him a final smile before bending down to grab her clothes, then walking away as her hips slowly swayed from side to side.
She didnât even bother to put them on.
Even though he could no longer see her face, he knew that she was smirking. The vigilante was aware of his bodyâs reaction towards hers.
Lex dropped onto his chair, moving to try and hide his erection before his eyes started drifting towards the office camera.
He couldnât hold back a grin as a plan started to form in his head.
If there was one thing that Lex was sure of- it was that the bats were naturally suspicious. If the little bird and his team were suddenly free and were able to escape his building without much trouble, they would start to become skeptical.
He wasnât known for being intelligent for nothing.
Lex would prove to Red that she deserved better.
She doesnât owe those heroes anything.
Despite everything that sheâs done for them, they still tore out the feathers of her damaged wings until she could no longer fly.
Lex could forget Superman for a while. This was a more crucial matter.

It wasnât a secret that Jason isnât the easiest person to get along with. It was why so many people in the Justice League kept him at arms length until they needed him. So imagine Jasonâs surprise when he manages to find a family in the avengers.

Unexpected (part 1)
Today was the day that Jason decided that he hated ninjas.
It doesnât matter how cool their tricks are, heâs seen better by now. Hell, he could probably do better.
Jason was on his way back to Gotham. He had a mission in New York that included finishing off a rapist.
The guy wasnât dead, but Jason made sure that he would never be able to rape another child again. He also made sure that the guy couldnât ever walk again.
All in all, he was pretty satisfied with his work. Especially due to the circumstances.
Jason made an agreement with Batman a while ago that as long as he doesnât kill in Bruceâs territory, he would still be allowed to patrol in Crime Alley.
So he doesnât kill in Gotham anymore and Jason doesnât try to make it a habit to kill out of Gotham either.
The bats would find out and frankly, Jason wasnât in the mood to get beaten up again.
He still remembers the day he shot Penguin like it was yesterday. The fists continuously pounding against his skull as he let Batman drag him across the rooftop, too lost in the thoughts of Artemis and Bizarro disappearing.
When he glanced up, he could see everything in slow motion. He saw how Batman wasnât pulling his fists, hitting Jason so hard that he was surprised he wasnât already dead.
It was only because of Roy that Jason was still breathing. Without Roy, Jason doesnât know where he would be right now.
It was Roy that held Jason when he dreamt of the Joker and crowbars. When he dreamt of Batman choosing the clown over him. When he dreamt and sometimes even felt the batarang slicing his throat open once more.
And more often than not, he dreamt of Batmanâs hateful gaze as he continued to beat Jasonâ his son!- up for shooting a blank, talking about how he never shouldâve given Jason another chance.
How he never shouldâve taken Jason in.
But of course, the moment he returns to Gotham, Bruce demands for his help on a mission.
Jason couldnât decline. He could argue with Batman, fight him evenâ but not Bruce. Never Bruce.
The mission was a success and everyone went on their separate ways. Meaning that the bats went back to the cave and Jason went to his nearest safe house, left to tend for his own wounds.
It was like nothing ever changed.
Like last time, it didnât take long for Jason to get overwhelmed.
His missions with the bats began to happen more often and they were beginning to prod into his personal life.
Jasonâs been switching his route every day for the past few months, hoping that no one would follow him back to any of his safe houses.
The last thing he needed was for them to find something personal and use it against him.
More than once, Jason could see his eyes flashing green. His head yelling at him, the voices getting louder as they urged him to kill Batman.
Jason needed to leave. He couldnât lose control of the rage again. He doesnât think he can handle the guilt this time.
It was pure luck that he heard that Arthuro Strump was on his way to New York, hoping to leave Gotham before karma caught up to him.
It gave Jason an excuse to leave the city, get his mind off of things, and give that scum what he deserved.
Arthuro decided to take advantage of twenty-seven kids from Crime Alley, thinking that no one would notice them since they were nothing but runaways.
But Red Hood noticed. And he would always notice, especially when a mixture of both boys and girls missed their weekly check-in with him.
With the bodies continuously piling up in the Alley, it didnât take a genius to figure out what had happened.
Jason promised that he would protect Crime Alley, and unlike others, he doesnât break any of the promises heâs made.
Which is why Jason doesnât know why he decided to help this dude fight off a bunch of ninjas.
He aimed his gun towards the leg of one of the men and fired, successfully taking out the last ninja.
Jason spun his guns around his hands before putting them back to the holsters. He turned to face the archer, âFirst time being chased by ninjas?â he asked, tilting his head.
âI wish.â the archer scoffed, âYouâd think theyâd have given up by now.â
Jason laughed, âWhat can I say, theyâre motivated.â
The guy smirked, âMust be the paycheck.â The blonde held his hand out for a fist bump, âIâm Clint.â
He returned it, âJason.â
They talked for a few minutes and he had to admit that it felt nice talking to another vigilante that didnât act like Jason was a psychotic murder.
When Clint finished tying up the last ninja, his rant about someone eating the last pop tart ended as well.
Jason held out his hand to pull up the Avenger.
âSo, whereâd you learn how to fight?â Clint asked, patting dirt off of himself. âNot anyone can use guns the way you do and not accidentally kill a person or two.â
For some reason, Jason felt his face heat up. He couldnât help but feel grateful for his helmet at times like this.
âI happen to have very good aim.â
âYou donât say.â
Jason couldnât help but roll his eyes, âIâve had a lot of teachers,â he admitted. âI canât even remember half of them.â
And Jason didnât want to either.
Over half of the teachers Jason had during his time with Talia were dead. He killed them.
Jason didnât regret it one bit.
He did miss Ducra though. That old woman taught him so much in those few months.
Jason wouldnât be the person he is today without her.
Clint gave him an understanding look and to Jasonâs surprise, he didnât pressure him to talk about it. Instead, he reached onto one of his pockets and gave Jason a business card.
âYou helped me, so itâs only fair that I can help if you ever need it,â Clint answered when Jason gave him a questioning look. âYou can text me whenever though. I have some friends thatâll love to meet you.â
âThanks,â Jason took the card. âSo do the Avengers just hand out business cards with their personal number on it whenever someone decides to be nice?â
Clint laughed and shook his head, âNo, we just give them to the people we like.â
Under his helmet, Jason flushed harder. No one ever said that they liked or even enjoyed his company.
âThank you.â
Clint gave him a salute before running towards the jet in front of them, âYouâre welcome. Text me soon!â
Jasonâs tongue couldnât form sentences properly so he nodded.
The Avengers were not as bad as Batman made them out to be. But then again, no one ever was.
Jason should know by now that he shouldnât trust Batman as much as he does. Especially when he opens his mouth and slanders people like Tim drinking his eighth cup of coffee. But itâs hard.
When he asked Talia about it, she said that itâs like a bad habit.
Something that you know you should stop doing but you just canât. Itâs a lack of self-control.
At least he has something to brag about when he meets up with Roy. He knows that the red-head looked up to Hawkeye.
If Jason decides to text the man, maybe he can arrange for them to meet up.
Or maybe not.
Jason mightâve felt overwhelmed by the bats but they were still his family. No matter what the green in his head whispered.
And even then, at least Jason knows that they still considered him worth keeping. Even if it was only for missions.
Plus, if anyone found out that Jason became -friends-Â acquainted with an Avenger, they would cast him out again.
He couldnât risk that. Not again.
Jason should crumple the card and throw it away. He should burn it and let the evidence fly away.
But Clint was so easy to talk to. He didnât judge Jason. And Jason didnât feel like he had to put up an act around him.
Jason didnât have to play the act of the brash, arrogant, impulsive vigilante.
He was just Jason.
Before he could change his mind, Jason saved the number on his personal phoneâ the one Roy made- with the contact on a hawk and an arrow.
Jason didnât have to text the man. But it was nice having another number on the device that wasnât Roy or Kori.
The bats didnât need to know about the meetup. If Jason was good at one thing, it was keeping secrets.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââ

Unexpected (part 2)
Two days have passed since Clint was saved by Jason. And for some reason, he still can't get the vigilante out of his mind.
Natasha teased him about it but he knows that if she sees Jason in action, she would be intrigued as well.
The way he fought was mesmerizing. Every bullet that was shot was so precisely aimed that the wounds weren't deadly.
Sure it knocked them out, but they weren't gonna die.
That form of marksmanship was only earned through years of hard work. And Clint's worked with Bucky enough times to know that Jason somehow predicted the next move of the attackers, aiming at the non-lethal body parts.
He has a feeling that Bucky and Jason would make an incredible duo.
Which is why he needs them to meet.
Clint doesn't usually do this but the more he thought about the bucket-wearing vigilante, the higher his list of questions got.
He took out his phone, leaning against the couch as he searched for the man that saved him.
vigilante wearing red bucket
He scrolled through google trying to find a decent article on the guy.
After thirty whole minutes of barely finding information, Clint wanted to throw his phone across the room. So far, all he's figured out was that Jason's territory was in Gotham and that his vigilante name is 'Red Hood'.
Which was... creative in a way?
At least it wasn't 'Red Bucket' or 'Bucket Head' or anything like that. It was definitely better than 'Green Arrow'.
After another failed search, he decided to finally give up. There was nothing about Red Hood. All the articles were mainly about Batman, Nightwing, a restaurant place, and a Robin!
He groaned and put his face in his hands. He doesn't care about those overrated heroes, he wants to find out more about Red Hood.
The guy was so cool... he wonders why there were barely any pieces written about him. The few sentences that he's read about the vigilante almost always depicted him in a bad light.
Which was honestly unfair.
He stared at his phone, contemplating on whether or not he should ask Natasha.
On the positive side, he knows that the assassin would have information on Red Hood. Natasha has information on everyone.
But...
Clint didn't want Natasha to tease him even more! If she keeps up with the sarcastic comments then the other Avengers would be curious. And curious Avengers meant nosy people.
He felt himself shiver, really nosy people.
He swears that if he had a sisterâ older or younger, they would act exactly like how Natasha was acting right now.
He could practically imagine the smirk she was wearing on her face when she picked up.
"Hey, Clint." she casually greeted, "How are you?"
He refrained from gritting his teeth, "I'm doing good." he paused, eyes closing as he took a breath in, this hurt to admit. "I need your help."
"I know."
"What do you know about the Red Hood?"
"The Red Hood?" she hummed under her breath, "Let's see."
Clint heard her moving things around, then he could distinctly hear the noise of paper being flipped. "Do you just have documents of random vigilantes lying around your room?" he couldn't help but ask. "Is this an assassin thing?"
Does Bucky do this too?
"I'm getting you the information you need." she reminded, "How I keep track of the data I have is none of your business."
"Okay, okay." he surrendered, a smile making its way onto his face. "But why don't you just keep it on a computer? Wouldn't that make things easier for you?"
She ignored his question, "Red Hood is an excellent marksman," she stated. "He made his debut as a crime lord by showing a bunch of people a duffel bag filled with the heads of notorious criminals."
Clint let out a whistle, "That is an intense introduction. He's even better than I thought he would be."
"Yeah," Natasha agreed. "He's easily one of the most dangerous and capable vigilantes in Gotham. In a matter of months, he's managed to bring crime down Crime Alley by at least fifty percent. Something that Batman himself, couldn't do. His methods were vicious, but they worked. Extremely well. He's killed a lot of child molesters, human traffickers, and rapists."
Even though Natasha couldn't see him, he tilted his head to the side, biting the inside of his cheek. Clint could care less about what methods Jason used. If they worked, they worked. And it's not like those criminals didn't deserve it. It's just-
Killing takes a lot out of you. Especially when you're young. Clint would know.
He had no doubt in his head that Jason was an incredible fighter. Not to mention that he was also hugeâ in both height and muscle.
He can see why he has a majority of Gotham fooled.
But, for about a minute, after they won against the ninjas, Jason removed his helmet in order to get a breath of fresh air.
A mask might've been covering his eyes, but Clint's been in the vigilante business for years now. He remembers clear as day, just how young the vigilante looked under the sun.
When Clint first started, he was thankful that he had Natasha to talk to whenever things got hard. Whenever he felt guilty for taking someone's life. No matter how much they deserved it.
Hell, he's still thankful for Natasha now. Without her, Clint would probably be dead. His body found bleeding out in an abandoned area, a neat row of scars on his thighs and arms.
He hopes that Jason has a friend like Natasha. Someone who'd be there for him no matter what. Someone who'd remind him that he was worth it. That he was loved.
Cause if not, then there is no way that the kid is okay.
Natasha's sharp voice interrupted his thoughts, "That was a few years ago. As far as I know, he doesn't kill anymore. The farthest that Hood would go now would be to permanently cripple someone. And even then, he would only do that when the person did something unforgivable."
After a few seconds of silence, Clint opened his mouth. "Is that it?" he couldn't help but question.
"Nope," Natasha admitted. "But it's all I'm willing to tell you."
"Fine then," he smirked. "Keep your assassiny secrets. I got more than I expected anyways."
"What did you get yourself into, Clint? Why all the sudden interest in him? Why all the sudden interest in a vigilante in Gotham?"
He knows that Natasha was just looking out for him. She was worried. "Do you remember a few days ago when I was saved by this Jason guy?" he asked.
"Yeah? You've been talking about him nonstop. He saved your ass and you gave him your number." she paused before adding, "Your private one."
He nodded, "Yeah. Well, he's the Red Hood."
"You're kidding."
"Nope. I searched him up and he had the same costume and everything."
"And he actually said that his name was Jason?"
"Yep." he tried to casually say, "It's probably cause Jason's a popular name and stuff."
"Maybe." Natasha hesitantly agreed, "But anyway, since you gave him your number, I think you should know that I've always wanted to meet him so if he texts you soon..."
Her voice trailed off and Clint couldn't hold in his sigh, "Yeah, yeah. I'll arrange a meet-up or whatever."
Her voice automatically brightened, "Actually?"
The corner of his mouth lifted, "Sure. But I wanted to introduce him to Bucky first."
Natasha made a shocked sound of betrayal, "Wha- but Clint!" she whined, "I'm the one who's asking. Not him."
"I know."
It took everything in him to stop the laugh from escaping his mouth.
Complaints about how unfair Clint was being made their way onto his ears and he relished each and every one of them. It wasn't often that he had something Natasha wanted.
Revenge was sweet.
After a few minutes, he let out an incredibly fake gasp. "Sorry, Natasha. I gotta go. I have a kitchen emergency."
"What the fuck, Clint." she demanded, "You don't even know how to cook. Remember the omelet incident? What emerg-"
He hung up.
Clint's definitely going to regret ending the call later. He knows it.
But right now, he could care less.
He has something Natasha wants, so she won't murder him.
... hopefully.
He hopes that he runs into the vigilante soon. Jason was cool and pretty fun to talk to. Clint definitely won't mind fighting at Red Hood's side once more.
They worked really well together.
While they were fighting, he knew that Jason was gonna have his back. He knew that Jason wasn't gonna let him get hurt. It was weird, considering that was the first encounter he's ever had with him.
He doesn't know when Jason is gonna decide to use his number, but he hopes that it'll be soon.
He has questions. And whenever Jason was ready, Clint hopes that he can answer.
Starting with the one that's been clouding his head; why did the Red Hood stop killing?

okay, I didnât expect to write a chapter this soon. but reading all the comments you guys left on the previous chapter motivated me. to be honest, I didnât expect this fanfic to get as many hits as it did.
I donât know when Iâm planning on posting this chapter but right now, my goal is to write as much as I can.
I also donât know exactly how busy my sophomore year of high school will be, but I feel like itâs better to be safe than sorry. Especially if I make the school volleyball team.
I finished writing this chapter on August 8th, and I have tryouts on the 9th through the 11th from 4-6 pm. (wish me luck!)

Unexpected (part 3)
If he knew that he would be blamed for murdering someone the moment he got back to Gotham, then Jason wouldâve waited another week or two before returning.
No matter what a lot of people said, Jason wasnât stupid. He knows not to expect things that were unlikely to happen.
Jason couldnât risk raising his hopes when it came to the bats.
He knew that he wasnât gonna receive a warm welcome filled with hugs and cupcakes. Honestly, the most he expected was a nod of acknowledgment. And if he was lucky, then maybe- maybe he wouldâve gotten a smile with the quiet whisper of a welcome back.
It made his heart twist in all the wrong ways to know that his family didnât trust him as much as he thought. Jason genuinely believed that he and the bats were on good enough terms to earn him the benefit of the doubt.
He forced himself not to flinch as he met Batmanâs harsh, distrustful gaze.
âI wasnât even here when he was killed,â Jason tried to say as calmly as he could, knowing that if he loses his temper, everyone would use it against him. âI was following a case up in New York.â
He couldnât go back to Arkham! Not again. Not with the Joker only a few cells away from him, taunting him with his laughterâ his voice filled with cruel exhilaration as he continuously promised Jason that they would play together once again. How he would soon be reunited with his favorite playmate.
His favorite Robin.
He heard someone suck in a breath behind him.
Jason didnât expect anyone to defend him. Not against Batman. But still-
He didnât expect them to just stand and watch as Batman tore him into shreds once again. Batman threw accusation over accusation, yet he never once provided a single piece of evidence that proved it was Jason that did it.
He took a step towards Jason and he had to force himself not to flinch. Batman wouldnât⌠not with his kids in the same room.
He ignored the rising panic in his stomach. Jason was safe.
He was safe.
Bruce wouldnât beat him in the cave. Not in front of everyone. Not in front of Damian.
Jason would be able to walk out of the cave with his ability to walk. He was gonna be okay.
âLook, B. You can even ask them,â he pointed at the spot where Dick and the others were standing. âI told them that I was leaving Gotham for a while.â
Batman turned to where Jason was pointing. âWell?â he asked expectantly.
The cave was engulfed in eerie silence before Tim opened his mouth, faltering a little when he met Jasonâs pleading gaze. âHeâs not lying Bruce. He told me that he had a mission out of Gotham while we were hanging out a few weeks ago.â
Jason could feel his chest loosen up for a few seconds, thankful that Tim confirmed his statement.
He remembered the day that Tim was talking about. The bats were getting even clingier than usual. They werenât even trying to hide the fact that they were following Jason anymore.
Tim asked Jason if he wanted to watch a movie and Jason agreed.
The bats were gonna be watching him anywaysâ they didnât even try to hide the fact that they bugged him and all the known safehouses he has.
At this point, Jason didnât know whether he should feel offended with how much they underestimated or relieved.
They already viewed him as dangerous and unpredictable. If they ever find out that Jasonâs been holding back, even if it was just a little-
He wonât let them throw him back to Arkham. Jason would rather go back to the League of Assassins.
If Jason wasnât watching Batman so closely, he wouldâve missed the sliver of a nod the man-made.
Jason tried not to think of the fact that Bruce immediately accepted Timâs answer without hesitation.
For the millionth time in this conversation, he wished that he was wearing his helmet. Instead, he forced his expression to remain calm. To remain bored as turned back to Bruce an eyebrow raised.
âIs that good enough proof for you, old man?â he couldnât help but spit out, bitterness clear in his voice.
Batman remained unaffected, not even bothering to verbally answer Jasonâs question. Instead, he just nodded.
Jasonâs heart clenched, of course, he wouldnât get an apology. Batman was too prideful for that.
âTruth.â Cassandraâs voice rang across the cave, breaking the heavy silence. âNo⌠not lie.â
Batman nodded once again and Cassandraâs eyes met his. It took everything in him to stop a retort from coming out of his mouth.
Couldnât she have said that a few minutes ago? Before Batman ripped him apart like he was nothing but flimsy paper.
Still, he guessed he should be thankful that she defended him. Even though it was too late.
After a few seconds of no one saying anything, Dick broke the awkwardness with an annoying smile on his face. âNow that thatâs settled, why donât we get that movie started?â
It was only because of all his training that Jason didnât break down right there.
Of course this was just another thing that theyâd sweep under the rug. Something that they would never want to speak off again.
Discussions of what movie they were supposed to watch erupted the room. It didnât take long for an argument to break out between Damian and Tim.
Jason watched the scene for a few seconds before looking away.
They looked like a real family.
He turned away, these things happened frequently enough for Jason to know that he wasnât welcomed.
He blocked out all the noise as he walked towards his helmet, eager to put it back on.
It was only a matter of luck that the universe hated him so much that he knocked something down, the thumping noise alerting everyone that he was about to leave.
Jason couldnât help but feel relieved that he put on his helmet as soon as he got his hands on it.
At least he didnât have to go to all the trouble to force his expression to remain impassive anymore.
Batman could use it against him.
Dickâs eyebrows furrowed, âWhere are you going, Jay? I thought you were joining us tonight.â
âYeah, well maybe Iâm not in the mood to watch a stupid movie tonight.â Jason spits out.
Was Dick being serious right now? There were so many things wrong with that question.
One: Why would Jason want to spend more time with the people who thought he murdered someone and didnât even bother to defend him.
And two-
No one invited Jason.
Before anyone could say anything else, Jason hopped on his motorcycle. He needed to get out of the cave.
He could feel their eyes on his back but no one bothered to stop him.
The last thing he heard was Cassandraâs voice assuring the bats. âBe back,â she said with enough confidence that one would think that she could command Jason to turn around with only her words. âHe will be back.â
Jason held in the harsh remark that threatened to leave his lips.
Plus, it wasnât like Cassandra was lying. He knew itâ and hell, the rest of Bats probably knew it too.
Jason would come back. He always did.
It wasnât like he had anywhere else to go.
But for now, he needed to get away. He thought that one week would be enough to calm the pit.
It wasnât.
In fact, he feels like the interaction with the bats today just made it worst.
Heâll stay away from them for two weeks. That should be enough time for the pit to stop screaming at him.
But who would he stay with?
Jason had enough experience to know that the best way to calm the pit was to surround yourself with people you trust.
Kori and Roy were still in space.
And Talia was busy with the civil war against Raâs.
Jason had no one else.
Except- Â
His phone grew heavier in his pocket and he remembered that an Avenger owed him a favor.
Clint said that Jason could text him whenever.
And the more he thought about it, the more Jason decided that he did trust the archer in some way. Â
Jason soon found himself staring at the side mirror of the vehicle and poisonous green eyes stared back.
He quickly averted his eyes.
Clint was his last choice. And Jason couldnât risk being in the peak of a pit episode without anyone to keep him in his place. Â
He could do this.
It wasnât like he had another choice.
