Carlos comes in the next morning because Julie didn’t come into his room the night before and the boys are trying to shush him so he doesn’t wake Julie up but he can’t see them so she ends up waking up to Carlos screaming excitedly because in the morning light he can see that Julie is FLOATING (laying on the boys, but only part of her is actually touching a physical surface that Carlos can see) on the COUCH

How long do you think Julie stayed in the garage after the group hug? They way they’re like “We’ll give you this, and you can let your imagination run wild with what happened after.” Part of me feels like she couldn’t just leave after that hug.

Wait no stop-

All of them giving her individual hugs after like I-

....so I did a thing

@politeandanxious were talking and we mentioned Willie learning that Alex wasn’t gone and then hugging during that moment and also Willie stealing Alex’s sweatshirts. So this happened

(It’s a first draft, but it was fun to get ideas down)

Willie stared at the floor of the museum, feeing emptier than he had since... before he died. It felt like crashing into that car, the total numbness that came with knowing you were dead but not knowing what to do about it. It felt like his sister trying to teach him to surf, like being pulled under the waves over and over and over again and wondering each time if she would be able to pull him back out. It felt like the Hollywood Ghost Club before he learned to settle for what he had, back when he had hoped that someone like Alex could exist.

A ghost poofed in beside him on the bench, probably Dante or one of the other dancers trying to get him out of the museum and back to rehearsal. They had been trying for days. He didn’t look up.

Then a familiar voice said, “Is this seat taken?”

Willie hesitated. It couldn’t be real. He was imagining things. Alex was gone. He had to get a hold on himself before Caleb made it worse. Before all the good memories were replaced by Caleb’s manipulation. He was imagining that the ghost beside him might be his anxious, wonderful, loving drummer boyfriend.

“You okay?” The voice asked. “Willie, I...”

The ghost gently lifted Willie’s chin so that Willie was looking him in the eye.

And it was.

It was him.

It was Alex!

Very much existing, clearly not crossed over Alex, sitting right beside him.

“Is it really you?” He bit back the word hotdog.

Alex nodded and pulled Willie into a hug. “It’s me.”

That was all Willie needed to hear. He broke down in relieved, held-back, mournful tears and clutched Alex’s pink hoodie like it was his sister’s arm, his lifeline, bracing to pull him back above the waves. “I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you. And it was all my fault.”

“I’ve told you already,” Alex said, holding Willie gently. “You didn’t have a choice. What happened with Caleb was not your fault. And you didn’t lose me. I’m here. I’m staying right here.”

And he did.

Willie refused to let go of Alex for almost an hour, and Alex seemed reluctant to pull away even after his bandmates showed up to let him know that, as cute as this was, Julie had finished her homework and they needed to rehearse.

Willie knew that he shouldn’t intrude on their rehearsal, that he had his own Hollywood Ghost Club rehearsal that he was missing, but he wasn’t ready to let go of Alex.

“Hey,” his boyfriend said gently, “I’m not going anywhere. I know you have to go back to the club and I can’t follow you but—“ Alex pulled his hoodie over his head and held it out. “—I‘ll still be right there with you.”

Willie smiled.

And that’s how Willie waltzed into an HGC rehearsal wearing Alex Mercer’s pink hoodie.
