A/N- This one was requested from my AO3 account. First time writing Ellie x Dina so I hope you like it <3 All your feedbacks are so important to me so let me know If you like my writing, how I should improve it etc.
Summary- Ellie has been with Cat for a long time, but Cat gets into a silly fight with Ellie and eventually Ellie finds herself in Dina's arms. Another day, Ellie is injured while on patrol with Joel, and when she returns to Jackson, she becomes the center of attention for Dina.

Ellie was so attentive whenever she went on patrol that she sometimes came back to Jackson very energetically, and oddly enough, no one was minding her. But after the events with Cat, her mind was starting to get confused. She couldn't help thinking, 'Am I not really a good girlfriend?' In fact, the subject they were discussing was just as ridiculous, and Ellie seemed to go crazy when she thought about it. Cat was the girl who didn't like to go out much, fit the description of the nerdy high school girl, and that's what Ellie thought of whenever she thought of Cat.
Another evening, Ellie told Cat that she was going out with Dina and Jesse and that she would come, but Cat was upset and started a fight with Ellie out of nowhere. Ellie wasn't always that positive and she had stress issues, which Cat should have realized by now. But it happened, and when Ellie suddenly started to scatter and shout, she knew that Cat was scared of her, so she took a deep breath and walked out the door without turning around. Ellie needed to calm down so she decided to go with Dina and Jesse.
When she got to the place where they were, she was surprised to see a crying Dina in front of her and waited for a few seconds before sitting next to her. Apparently they had a fight with Jesse again.
When Dina saw Ellie coming, she stood up and stretched out her arms to hug her. Ellie did the same, hugging her girlfriend tightly. Ellie didn't ask why because she knew they were like this all the time and she couldn't take the chaos anymore. Ellie took her hand and dragged her to her place, and they talked all night about their past lives and the things they liked. Ellie talked about those comic books again and after a while the two of them were looking at each other so well that Ellie couldn't stop kissing her. Maybe Ellie had taken advantage of Dina's sad mood, but Dina was responding, too, and Ellie realized then that Dina wasn't empty to her.
When she woke up in the morning, Ellie felt a soft body next to her and wished that this moment would never end, but there was a patrol that day and she prepared slowly so as not to wake her, no matter how hard she tried, left a note on the nightstand next to her bed to indicate that she was leaving. Winter was approaching, but Ellie never felt cold because she had fought worse. When she got to where the horses were, her eyes searched for Jesse but couldn't find him, and when Joel arrived a few minutes later, they said a little hello and good morning to each other, and set off to blow the brains of the sick. Ellie was unaware of what was going to happen to her. If there was one thing Ellie didn't tell anyone, it was that she didn't expect to see anyone other than sick people out there because they had to be defensive and just like themselves, and you wouldn't know where they would come from. Jackson was being invaded in some way at least every month, and as a result, people fell short of their fun for a while. When Ellie first came here, she liked it so much that she had a hard time not hugging Joel, but she knew she was hurting that man too. She loved Joel and didn't think she could live without him, but Ellie wasn't very good at showing her feelings, so you could tell from her eyes what she was going through, and Joel could fully understand what Ellie was feeling. Because he was a teenager just like her, and he did the craziest thing in his adolescence and became Sarah's father, and that was a very bad thing for him at the time because what his mom and dad thought was more important than what he thought, but he somehow survived these events, but the day of the outbreak was in his life. It was the scariest and saddest day of his life, and Joel would never forget them.
Joel wanted to break the silence between them, but Ellie already understood that and rolled her eyes and waited for him to speak.
'' Kiddo, I'm sensing some bad things in you. Did someone hurt you? " Ellie didn't have to tell Joel that much, and she didn't feel obligated to say anything, but it was Joel and he wouldn't let it go. “No, I mean maybe yes… I dunno. Last night was rough and kinda cute at the same time and I don't know how I feel or… Pff I don't know Joel.” Joel nodded in understandment at what Ellie had said and smiled sweetly. ''Ya can always talk to me If you have something goin' on, you know that right? “ Ellie smiled at him too and nooded her head as yes. After a few moments of silence, Ellie decided to explain to Joel how she felt, but it didn't turn out the way she thought it would because an arrow pierced the tree right in front of her, and the horse she was riding, Shimmer, reared up in fright and rushed madly into the trees with Ellie. Although Ellie tried to stop her horse, unsure of what to do, she knew she was in danger and seemed nowhere to hide. “ Shimmer STOP! No wait, not that way. HEY I SAID- “ Shimmer threw Ellie off of her before she could finish speaking and the horse ran away herself. Maybe she could find her horse later, but when Ellie looked where she had fallen, all she saw was mud and blood. Se heard a whistle and wanted to get up quickly, but it wasn't that easy in her situation. She stood up cautiously, but was thrown to the ground by the pain of the arrow hitting her shoulder and writhing in pain.
She didn't know where Joel was, but she wasn't stupid enough to try to summon him because she knew she was surrounded by enemies. She quickly pulled out the arrow and was so careful not to shout that her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. Ellie lay there breathing deep and silently, waiting for the enemies to go away, and they did. Hearing no sound, she got up and tried to get out of the mud, ignoring Shimmer. She paused at the sound of the bush and pulled out her gun. ''Who are you!? Come out, NOW! “ That person came out of hiding, listening to Ellie, and when Ellie saw it was Joel, she took a deep breath and walked towards him. Joel was breathing heavily, and he wasn't quite well either. He took Ellie in his arms and asked if she had anything, but then when he saw the scar on her arm, his eyes widened and he dragged her with him to the place where his own horse was. ''Now, you go to Jackson and head straight to infirmary. No buts Ellie you should go and patch this up. Please don't make me repeat myself. “Ellie nodded and got on Joel’s horse. She just stood there motionless and looked gratefully at Joel. “Thank you Joel. " Joel nodded, as if accepting Ellie's thanks, and with that, Ellie rode Joel's horse towards Jackson. When she got to the place where the big doors were, she said her own name, but her voice was too weak because of the pain. They opened the doors anyway, and Ellie came in, handed the horse over to the people present, and asked them to call Maria to the infirmary. When she arrived at the infirmary, the woman there asked her to sit on one of the beds and went to get some supplies to clean her wound. Ellie heard footsteps coming from the side of the door and straightened her posture. She was surprised to see the people entering because she wasn't expecting Dina here. “What are you doing here?” She asked, unable to keep the surprise in her voice. Dina was panting and when she got to Ellie she grabbed her hands tightly and then hugged her tightly.
“Oh Ellie I was so worried. I was going to the garden to pick somethings but I found Maria pacing around so I asked her what was up and she said you were hurt and I quickly came with her. How did this happen though? “ Instead of answering, Ellie looked at Maria and asked her to save her from answering for the moment. Maria rubbed her hands and cleared her throat, giving her authoritative speech. ''Well I'm sure Ellie would tell you everything in private so maybe you should just go with her and make her not to do anything stupid, yeah? " However, she looked at Ellie as if to say 'we'll talk later' and walked out of the infirmary. Unbeknownst to Ellie, her arm was bandaged and she was holding Dina's hand with her other hand. They left the infirmary hand in hand without saying a word, met Cat on the way, but both continued on their way without greeting. When they entered the garage where Ellie was staying, they both threw themselves into the seat at the same time, and when they realized this, they looked at each other and started laughing.
When their laughter was over, they looked into each other's eyes and kissed passionately, as if they never wanted to part. After a few moments, they broke their kiss, and Dina placed her hand on Ellie's cheek and looked at her lovingly, as if she had never seen her '' What would i do if you died there? I'm here for you Ellie so please don't get yourself away from me. I want you to love me. " Dina's words sounded to Ellie as if they were the words of a song and Dina wrote that song. It was then that Ellie realized that whenever Dina looked at her, Ellie was fascinated and there was no escape from it.

FLASHBACK
“ Joel, you sure this gonna work? “ You gasped and took a seat next to Joel. For a few months , you had been almost obsessed with thinking about how to propose to Ellie. Whenever you looked for an opportunity, either someone intervened or you didn't manage that time well. You had chosen Joel as a last resort, but it was obvious that choosing Joel was not so good.
When you came to Joel a week ago and asked him if he could arrange a wonderful place with a beautiful view in Jackson, he said he needed to talk to Maria and Tommy and left you unanswered for a week. It turns out that there was no such place in Jackson. “ Well, we found this place while I was patrolling that area with Tommy. It's not a secret place, that's for sure but nothing we can't handle kiddo. “ He said, giving you that gorgeous Miller smile. You weren't so sure about that. Getting out of Jackson was already dangerous. Yes, it had a long time since you went out to look around and you got out of it but how right was it to propose to Ellie in such a situation that danger still awaits you out there?
“ Joel… I-I don't know. What If something goes wrong? “
“ Don't worry, girl. i gotcha “ Seeing your face fall, he lifted your chin with his fingers, patted your head, stood up, picked up the walkie-talkie and went outside. He was obviously on his way to talk to Tommy. In order not to disturb him in his own house, you entered the house you shared with Ellie and hoped that Ellie would not come at that time you pack the gift you were going to prepare. You wanted everything to be perfect for her.

Ellie was staring at you in surprise, her head agitated from following you with her eyes as you scurried to and fro. “ What are you doing? You okay? “ You nooded your head and sighed in relief, secretly putting the gift you prepared in your bag. You took everything with you. Everything was ready for this day to be perfect. Joel and Tommy did what they said and prepared a really great place for you. It took a while, but it seemed worth it.
"Yeah, I'm ready." You opened the outer door but had to pause for the last time. Ellie gently pushed you out before you're eating yourself up wondering if I really got it all. “ You're being weird you know. “ “Oh well. It's me being me, I guess. “ You chuckled and you made your way to the barn with Ellie. When Ellie was talking about Maria acting so weird at dinner last night and Dina throwing up all the time, you didn't even hear her , wondering if the day was going to be good or bad. Ellie nudged your arm with hers realizing this. “Hey babe, you're listening? “ “Yeah I am. “
“ Really? What did I just say then? “ You just stood there at that moment. Even when you opened your eyes wide and looked at her, Ellie never broke that grin on her face. She looked like she was going to laugh for a moment, but took on a fake expression of anger. “ I-you-you were talking about the food last night. Yeah, you were-were saying how good it was and- " “ I might love the food more than you right now. “ You grinned and gave her an apologetic kiss on the cheek. “ Sorry baby. Just lots of things on my mind lately. " Ellie hummed and said quietly, ' it's okay babe ‘ After getting on your horses and a short pep talk, you stepped out of Jackson's big door. Although Ellie thought you were going to do your usual patrol work, you had to take her on a different path on the way. Of course, this did not escape Ellie's notice. She complained to you a few times what was going on, why you took a different path, that that side wouldn't be clean, but you just wanted her to trust you.
“ Ellie just trust me, okay? I know what I’m doing. “
“ Well it’s not our route. “
“ I know but- “ You exhaled with difficulty. “Just trust me. It will be worth it.” . At that moment you really hoped that when you got there, everything would be fine and you could make a wonderful proposal to the love of your life. Ellie gave up her objections after a while. It didn't take you long to get there, as Joel had already said they found it on their way. The area had been cleaned, contrary to what Ellie had thought. There was no diseased. But there was still the possibility that other people would come. Even though you always thought of the bad until that moment, you couldn't describe the joy when you saw the building. Here, you were going to tell her that she is the meaning of your life, that you love her very much and that you want to spend a lifetime with her. Finally, officially you would be Ellie's and Ellie would be yours.
“ What is this place? “
“ You ask too much. “ You said and got off your horse. You held out your hand to get her to get off the Shimmer as well. You were really surprised that Joel made this place so tidy, but you hid it. You were on the top floor of the building. It could have been a roof, but Joel had put a white umbrella with artificial ivy hanging from the sides where you were sitting. Starry fairy lights placed next to the cushions to avoid attracting too much attention seemed to make this place even more beautiful. You let go of Ellie's hand and quickly set off to turn on the lights. “ What- I'm sorry but what the actual fuck? “ After you had done the work of turning on the lamps, you went to her. Her face naturally looked very strange but also funny. “Come. Hold my hand, please. “ You said as quietly as you could. Ellie took your hand, but she seemed undecided whether or not to go. You finally got her to sit on the mat, take your foods out of the bag and put them on the cover, and since you were going to give your gift lastly, you kind of hid it by taking your bag behind you and were careful for her not to see it. When you looked at Ellie, you saw that she was admiring the view in front of you. It wasn't fair because you loved this look just as much as Ellie. “ I thought I'd surprise you with something like this. I know you like these kind of scenes. “ She turned her head to you and smiled with those beautiful dimples. She grabbed one of your hands and squeezed it gently, as if in thanks. “ Thank you baby but you didn't have to. “ “Nah. Don't even dare to tell me that I didn't have to. If you say it again. I'm gonna tickle you 'till you die. “ In response, she threw her head back and laughed. “ I'd like to see you try baby. “
“ As much as I want to do that right now, I'm very hungry and I can eat you any minute. “ “ Well, babe, although I really would like to see you eating me but I'm hungry too so maybe another time. “ You both laughed when she said that. After watching the magnificent view in front of you for a few more minutes, you started to eat.
It was almost evening by the time you finished your meal, and it was time to go, as it wouldn't be nice to be in the dark. You caught Ellie's attention with a fake cough as she watched the sky with a smile on her face with her arm under her head. You took the bag behind you without hesitation, but your hands were shaking as you pulled out the box. Ellie was watching you with a frown, carefully following your every move. Or was it what she was thinking? You coughed to let her focus on your face again, and you stood up, taking her hand and asking her to get up. “Stay. “ You said, looking at her like a kitten. It was a request rather than an order. It was a hope. It was excitement. Indeed, even though you had rehearsed this, your hands and feet were trembling in fear of screwing things up in front of her. You paused for a moment and knelt before her, breathing heavily. Ellie was standing in front of you with her hands at her sides. Even though that emptiness on your face startled you, you didn't back down. There was no turning back from this.
“ You know I'm not very good at my choices with words, but I'm trying for you. We've been together for a while and not a day goes by without you, Ellie. You've always been by my side. In every sense. But I don't know if I'm being selfish by asking things to get serious but Ellie, I love you and- and will you marry me,babe? “ You finished quickly for fear of screwing up your words. With your head bowed, the ring box made by Joel and the wooden but elegant, painted ring also carved by Joel in your hand, you waited extended towards Ellie, hoping she would accept your proposal. Even though you were serious in your words, it made you proud that you didn't say what you said while rehearsing. Those words were an exaggeration. They didn't reflect you.
When you least expect it, Ellie grabbed your arms and lifted you up, raising your still slanted head on both cheeks with both hands, planting a kiss on your nose. “ I don't know what you did to do these but you could've just asked me,baby. “ She said in a low voice and you said in the same tone,“ I know but I wanted to see you happy like this, you watching the scene in front of us while I watch you smile. S-so what-" She immediately closed your lips, interrupting you. The light of the fairy lights reflected so beautifully on Ellie's face that her baby-like face was clearly visible. You even forgot the box in your hand while she was kissing you. Pulling back, Ellie bent down, picked up the box and handed it to you. “ I want to get it from you baby. “ You nodded with an enthusiastic smile and handed the box again, but this time you didn't ask the question. She took the ring in her hand, smiled, and put it on. As she did that, you threw the box to be never found again, and you grabbed her waist and swirled her around with laughter and kisses in between. Now you were each other's and no one could separate you. As they say, until death do you part.
You managed to pack up and make it to Jackson before the evening too fell. You were so happy that you could finally spend time with Ellie like this and surprise her , and even everyone could see it in your eyes. After passing through Jackson's great pass, you came to your house hand in hand, but the light was on. Just as Ellie was about to open the door, you stopped her and said you had a plan. You both chuckled like witches at this insidious plan and entered the house to implement it.
Your plan was to play a very bad prank on the Miller family and your friends. You told them that you couldn't propose to Ellie, that she was very grumpy and that you were fighting until you were there and you faked a fight in front of them.
While Jesse mockingly watched this fake fight, the others were trying to separate and reconcile you. You both got a strong slap from Dina when Jesse, who could silence you all with his loud voice, said that he understood it was a joke, but in the end it ended with laughter and congratulations. Before leaving the house, Joel said good night and left the house after looking at you both with sad, tearful but proud eyes and stroking both of your heads affectionately. After the door closed, you and Ellie turned to each other, and after turning off the lights, you kissed each other with love and longing. It was like a dream that day, but that dream didn't turn into a nightmare only depended on having Ellie by your side. Finally, the words that couldn't be said before were said and the happy ending was reached.

A/n: I'm writing this at literally 2 in the morning so this could very well be trash but we shall see. Okay so I hate the way I ended this but the rest is kinda cute so I'm posting it anyway, enjoy :)

Warnings: Literally just Joel being the best gentleman, Pre-Outbreak!Joel, Lowkey cliche, no use of Y/n, drinking, One creepy guy, reader is uncomfortable, slight unwanted touching, Joel (he always needs a warning), light swearing, I think that's it but lmk if I missed anything.
It was supposed to be a fun night out with your best friend that you hadn't seen in forever. The plan was to go out to a bar your friend liked, have a few drinks, and catch up on what you had missed in the time you two had been separated.
But that plan quickly went out the window. You both showed up and chatted for a while but your friend quickly found someone she deemed worthy of her time and went to the dance floor, leaving you to nurse another drink alone at the bar. That honestly wasn't bad at first. Your drink was about as good as you good get in the small honky tonk bar, the music wasn't bad, maybe a little twangy, but nothing horrible, but then he showed up.
You don't even remember his name, James? Jason? You couldn't remember but you do know that he asked you to dance, and being a few too many drinks deep you said yes. At first he kept a respectable distance between the two of you and his hands stayed high on your back and arms as you danced to the music, but after a song or two his hands began to wander and he pulled you closer. It wasn't terrible until he pulled you flush against him and ran his hot, wet mouth down your neck.
"Okay, I'm getting hot, I think I need another drink! Let go." You shouted over the music but he seemed determined to stay with you.
"It's not that hot in here, just one more song, come on! Then I can think of something else we can do." The innuendo wasn't lost on you and you quickly sobered up a bit. He made another grab for your arm but you pulled it away at the last second and searched the room for your friend with no luck. It seemed she had gone home with that guy, or at the very least disappeared somewhere with him.
"No, I'm actually here with someone so I'm just gonna go find him. This was fun though." You tried to be polite whilst your eyes bounced around the room in search for anywhere you could go, at this point you were almost completely sober and just wanted a way out of this situation.
"Bullshit! You were alone at that bar long before I got to you. Now don't be such a bitch and come over here again!" John or maybe Jackson shouted a little too near to your ear for comfort, causing you to immediately flinch away.
Then your eyes landed on him. Dark messy hair and broad shoulders in a tight green flannel connected to long legs covered in tight dirty jeans. His back was to you and you prayed he was really as alone here as he looked because you made a beeline to him while tossing a, "There's my friend!" over your shoulder. You could tell he followed after you but you just walked faster until you were right next to where the other man stood near the bar counter.
"There you are babe! I've been looking for you!" You called to him and threw your arms around his neck before whispering in his ear when he stiffened at your touch. "Please play along, this guy won't leave me alone." The man didn't answer but he relaxed and wrapped his arms around you for a few seconds before pulling back. By now, the other guy had reached the two of you and glared at the man who now had his arm over your shoulder.
"Hey darlin', been looking all over for you. Who's your friend?" He was playing along to your great relief and glared just as harshly at the unrelentless man before you.
"Oh, this is, uh, Jason-"
"John, actually, and who are you?" John, it turned out to be, cut you off and looked the other man up and down, sizing him up.
"I'm Joel, how do you know my girlfriend?" Joel, stared right back and kept his tone clipped and harsh. Joel was a little shorter, but he was broader and filled out his sleeves much more than John did, no doubt intimidating the creep.
"Girlfriend? This bitch? Yeah have fun with that..." John quickly trailed off as Joel's glare deepened and he took a threatening step forward at the harsh words. John quickly took the hint and turned around and sauntered back into the crowd with a scoff and one last glare aimed at you.
As soon as he was out of sight you slumped down into one of the two empty bar stools while Joel took the other. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry for that. He just wouldn't leave me alone and I lost my friend somewhere and she's kinda my ride but I think she left with some guy so I didn't know what to do. God, you really saved my ass, I don't know what would've happ-" Joel cut your rambling off with a short bark of laughter and shook her head. He smiled in amusement and held out his hand for you to shake.
"Don't worry about it, sweetheart. It was my pleasure, I'm glad I could help. I'm Joel." You gave him your name and shook his hand in return.
"Thank again, can I buy you a drink for that? Like I said, you really saved my ass there." You grinned as you offered but it dropped when he flagged the bartender down and ordered you a drink instead.
"How bout I buy you one since you seemed to have a shitty night? And you said your friend left? I can give you a ride home if you'd like, darlin'." Joel offered in a deep southern twang that had you blushing, though you blamed it on the alcohol still in your system.
You shook your head a smiled. "Don't worry about it, please, I'll just get an Uber or something. I can figure it out, you've already done so much for me tonight." Truth be told, you desperately wanted him to drive you home. Joel was hot, he was also kind and a gentleman, but you didn't want to intrude on his night even more so you declined his offer.
He however seemed to have other Ideas, he raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "You're really gonna call an Uber alone at night? For some reason that doesn't seem like the brightest idea to me."
"Oh and going home with a stranger is any better?" You shot back but Joel just grinned.
"But we aren't strangers. You know my name and I know yours, and according to people around us, we are dating. If you don't want me to take you home, I understand, but I really wouldn't mind at all, and it seems the safer option anyway." You thought over his offer and decided was he right. Calling an uber when you were tipsy, alone, and this late at night wasn't a good idea. You're other option was to somehow get your friend to give you a ride like planned, but she was nowhere to be seen in the bar and she hadn't responded to any of your texts other than one over an hour ago saying she went home with the guy she met.
"Alright, you can drive me home. But you're just dropping me off, alright." Joel nodded and raised his hands in surrender.
"You have my word, sweetheart. I will only take you home, unless you ask for anything else." He threw a cheeky wink in with the end of his sentenced, and that paired with the pet name in his drawl had you blushing from your neck to the tips of your ears. You only hoped he blamed it on the alcohol in your system and the heat of the bar, but the look in his eyes said he knew otherwise.
"Great. Um," You glanced at your phone and saw that it was way past midnight. You had been talking to Joel in between sips of your drinks for well over an hour by now. "It's getting pretty late, do you wanna head out now?"
"Sounds great, darlin'." He fished out his wallet from the back pocket of those unnecessarily tight jeans and threw a couple bills on the table. You tore your eyes away from his ass when he turned around and your blush deepened when you saw the small smirk on Joel's face, he definitely saw you staring. "Let's go then, I'm parked out front."
He led the way out the doors into the chilly night air and opened the passenger door of a shiny black pickup with a large smile across his face. You grinned and stepped up into the vehicle. "I guess chivalry really isn't dead."
Joel just chuckled and shook his head, "Just keepin' my momma proud, darlin'." He winked at you and shut your door before walking around to the driver door. You gave him your address and he turned on the radio quietly as he began to drive.
"Thank you again for everything, Joel. You don't know how much you've done for me tonight." You sheepishly stared at your hands in your lap, the buzz of your drinks wearing off and an odd sense of shame filling you.
You looked up, though, when he reached over and grabbed one of your hands in his much larger grip. His hand covered yours entirely and it was rough with callouses. You stared at the side of his face with your cheeks slightly pink when he spoke. "Darlin', you don't need to thank me. You don't ever deserve to feel unsafe anywhere and I'm extremely glad that I could help you out tonight."
Joel stopped talking then, but he still lightly held your hand in his, you could've pulled away if you wanted, but you just squeezed his hand and grinned. A slow country song came on over the radio and Joel turned up the music a few notches. Quietly he began to sing along.
His voice was deep and smooth with a little bit of a rasp. In short, it was beautiful. You stared at his mouth as it moved to form the shapes of the words. You must have looked insane staring at him like this but when he glanced over at you Joel only smiled softly and continued the song.
The song just barely ended when he pulled into your neighborhood and turned into your driveway. You frowned as the night came to a close and slowly began to unbuckle while Joel walked around the front of the car to open your door for you. "Here you are, sweetheart. It's been a great night for me, I hope it was for you too after everything."
You smiled and hopped down onto the pavement and walked with him to your front door where you tried to linger and build the confidence to ask for his number. "It was wonderful meeting and talking with you. Thank you for everything once again." Joel smiled and nodded his acknowledgment before you began to unlock the door and he turned and walked back to his truck.
You had just about closed the door when you heard your name called out. "Hey wait! you left this in my truck." Joel jogged up to your front door once again and handed you something, it looked like a napkin or a paper, but you didn't remember having it before. It must've just been in your pocket and fallen out or something, you reasoned.
"Oh thanks, I didn't even realize. Goodnight Joel." You finally forced yourself to not chicken out and stood on your tippy toes to press a soft kiss to his cheek before you turned and walked back into your house, just barely catching his own goodnight to you.
It was only after you heard his truck pull away and the sound of his engine fade that you looked down at the napkin he had handed you. Once you processed what it had written on it in a messy chicken scrawl you sat at your kitchen table and a large grin took over your face.
