I Missed You

Johnny Storm x Reader

Rating: T (mentions an unstable family setting)

Requested by an amazing anon!

Author’s Note: I had a plan for this request but when typing it out, it seemed forced when condensed into a one-shot. I hope you don’t mind but I think I’m going to release it in three parts.

I really hope you like the beginning!

Part Two   Part Three (End)

The fighting had become a part of them. Eat, sleep, argue. The process would continue, wearing the both of you thin as every insecurity became open game in those moments, the damage growing worse as each day carried over to the next.

Until finally, one of you snapped.

“What about me Johnny? Why am I expected to wait for you while you flirt with every girl you see?”

“Flirting? You think that’s what I’ve been doing? Why the hell would I still do that when I have you?”

He began to pace across the room, his hands running through his hair before he suddenly froze. Anger radiated from his skin as he walked towards you, his eyes narrowed as he spoke to finally utter the words that he knew would break you and the fiery spirit that could surprisingly match his.

“Just because your dad left your psychotic mother for a better model doesn’t mean everyone will do the same thing. You really need to get over these daddy issues.”

With just those few sentences, tears began to cloud your vision, blocking the sight of the now shocked and defeated man that stood in front of you. With a deep breath, you clumsily reached for the single letter that lay inside your purse. It had been the main reason you had come over and now, it just proved to be the best escape. As you looked down at the formal letter, your name typed neatly on the white envelope, you sighed as you watched it grow dirty with the tears that had finally fallen. With a scoff, you threw it on the table beside you, rubbing a hand over your face as you walked towards the door. One more deep breath and you were gone, leaving the paper behind.

It would be days until he’d open it, letting the anger and hurt subside to finally pull the already torn seal to read the contents of the letter. With an air of formality found within the envelope alone, his heart dropped as he began to read what lay inside.

You had been accepted to the University of California, a college that was across the country. With a full-ride scholarship, they offered you the chance to escape from the life you endured here. Of course, you would take it. In California, there would be no reminder that your father had left you alone with a woman who could barely take care of herself. There would be no more nights in which you’d had to pick up for her and the new man she had brought home that day. With a frown, he stumbled back on his bed, his hands dropping the letter to grip his hair tightly.

What about him? Where did he fit into this new phase in your life? With a newfound desperation to find out what you had been meaning to say before the fight had begun, he stumbled out the door.

With labored breaths, he quickly hopped onto his motorcycle and sped the few miles to your house. His rushed knocks soon echoed in the silent air, forcing his heart to stop. Now with harsh pounds against the flimsy door, Johnny shouted your name loudly before stepping back, hoping to catch a glimpse of your shadow in the upstairs window. As his blue eyes frantically searched for a sign, he jumped as the door slammed open, revealing your mother. A frown set on her face, she leaned against the door, already answering the question that Johnny had been dying to ask.

“She’s gone.”

His eyes widened at the revelation and he stumbled towards your mother. His heart froze as he began to stutter, his eyes frantically searching her face as if to find that this had all been some cruel joke.

“W-Where is she?”

She shrugged, looking back into the house and motioning to whoever was inside. No doubt her latest fling. With an exasperated sigh, she turned back, her voice rushed as she ran a hand over her face.

“Hell if I know. All I know is her room is empty and a note was on the table saying goodbye.” With that, she slammed the door, her loud voice growing faint as she ran back to whoever was calling for her. It was as if the disappearance of her daughter was nothing...

Meanwhile, Johnny felt the crushing pain consume him. His legs wobbled as he walked slowly to his bike until he finally collapsed, his back hitting the hard metal. One hand clutching his chest, he hid his head between his legs as he tried to calm down. His breathing was labored, tears fell freely from his eyes, and despite his attempts to end this sign of weakness, he also longed for it to stay.

He deserved it.

You were gone and there was no way he could get you back.

I Missed You - Part Two

Johnny Storm x Reader

Rating: T

Author’s Note: Ugh. I feel like this is too much of a filler chapter. There were so many different directions I wanted to take and this is the one I chose to go with. I’m so stupid. It’s not the best but the ending will be better. I promise!

Part One   Part Three (End)

Ten years. Ten years have gone by and you were still acting like a lovestruck teenager.

You had tried not to be. With the amount of blind dates you had been on, you should have found yourself a boyfriend by now. Someone to help you forget about the man you left behind. But as you looked into their eyes, they weren’t as blue. Their smile wasn’t as genuine. Their humor didn’t make you laugh, the kind of laugh that made you clutch your stomach in glee, like he did. No man you came across could compare to the man who stole your heart in high school, keeping it for himself as you left for California.

With a sigh, you looked down at the magazine in your hands once more, reading the title for the fourth time. Each word seemed to pop, forcing your heart to return back to its crumbled state compared to the bandaged version you had been trying to live with for the past decade.

Suddenly, you cursed as your hands crumpled the magazine in your hands and with an anxious look at the owner of the stand, you quickly put it back before walking away. Your hands stuffed into your denim shorts, you kept your head down as you let the headline still plague your thoughts.

Johnny Storm and Richelle Porter...Is it Getting Serious?

As you recalled the happy look on his face, you couldn’t help but let out the childish jealousy that had blossomed. As soon as Johnny Storm became the Human Torch, it was brought to your attention that he was back to being ‘the player.’ Headlines were constantly being published of his latest fling and thrown in your face, bringing out a rage that you knew he didn’t deserve.

Did you mean that little to him?

No, he deserved to be happy.

As the flurry of emotions consumed you, you paused, letting out a deep breath to clear your head of the infamous Johnny Storm. With one free day and a ticket to the London Eye, you refused to let anything come in your path of the small happiness that lingered behind the continual heartache. With one more shake of the head, you let go of the past, if only for a moment.

***

As your arms leaned against the railing, looking out at the serene view, it had seemed perfect. Without the reminder of Johnny Storm, the opportunity to appreciate the new life you had created for yourself was easily welcomed.

You were here, in a new country, supporting yourself in a job you loved. True, you weren’t completely satisfied but in the end, it was better than living at home with your mother, right? Just the simple right to come to the London Eye whenever you wished was enough to choose this life over being the mother to a grown woman. At the thought, a smile spread across your face as you laughed, your eyes closing as you let the happiness consume you.

Then it all went to shit…

Loud gasps filled the room as the hole appeared in the river but it was nothing compared to the shrill screams that quickly followed as the pod shook. Bodies followed the tilt of the attraction as it leaned closer towards the receding water, forcing all that was inside to fear for the outcome. Frantic feet attempted to reach the other side of the room, as if the childish belief that by doing so, it would help. But it was no use and the situation only grew worse.

In a state of shock, your (e/c) eyes watched as a silver man appeared from the hole, hitting your pod and effectively creating a hole in what should have been impenetrable glass. Then, he was gone, leaving behind the chaos he had caused. As the newly added danger caught the attention of the attendees, many struggled to hold on tighter to the railing.

Except for the child who had lost her grip, falling to the floor before sliding towards the hole. With desperate attempts to grab onto her mother, the young girl cried as the opportunity was lost, her body slowly reaching the edge that would soon close the distance between her and the fall that would no doubt prove to be fatal.

You didn’t think. As soon as you saw her feet hit the outside air, you leapt forward. You pushed her aside and took her place, your body fully leaving the pod and beginning its quick descent.

This is how you were going to die, wasn’t it? With the wind stinging your cheeks until you finally hit the ground?

Without realizing that you were holding your breath, you felt yourself slipping away, your last thoughts being of Johnny and the life you could have had with him.

“(Y/n), can you hear me? Wake up baby!”

Through the fog that seemed to cloud your thoughts, the familiar sound broke through and forced a groan to escape your lips. Your heavy (e/c) eyes slowly opened only to instantly regret the decision as the bright light of the sun came into view. Your hand instantly jerking upwards to block the bright rays, a loud scream quickly followed as you could barely move your arm. Working past the pounding headache you were currently nursing, you ignored the voice that you heard moments ago to catch a glimpse at the cause for the indescribable pain.

Once again, you regretted your decision. As you finally caught sight of your arm and the way it was twisted against the concrete, you felt your stomach churn. Your eyes quickly shut as you turned away, taking deep breaths to clear the wave of nausea that had made its appearance from the grotesque image.

But of course, it wasn’t that easy.

As the pain finally surfaced, you screamed once more, the noise hanging in the air as you struggled to stay still to alleviate the pain. But your attempts were in vain as your body trembled and the sickening feeling returned to your stomach.

“(y/n)? Oh shit. Reed, how long until the damn ambulance is here?”

As the frantic voice appeared once more, you blacked out, letting the pain slip away as you happily welcomed the darkness.

 ***

Desperate grunts filled the air as you extended an arm towards the chair that lay in the corner of the room. Each inch that you got closer towards the items that lay on the maroon chair forced the needle to pull against your skin yet you persisted, your determined gaze not straying from the purse that lay so close yet so far. Your side dug into the railing attached to the hospital bed as you tried once more to get closer, using the few fingers left uncovered on your other, now casted, hand to hold you steady.

“As much I love the view of your ass…what the hell are you doing?”

A shriek left your lips as you quickly fell back against the bed, the sudden motion sending a sharp pain to radiate through your body and causing a groan to leave your lips. You took a moment to let the feeling pass, taking a deep breath before looking up and face the intruder. But as your eyes caught sight of the man you left behind years ago, you froze.

There he stood. Still clad in his Fantastic Four uniform, he leaned against the frame of the door, his arms crossed as a small frown played across his lips. With one quick motion, he ran a hand over his short hair, giving you time to take in the heavy bags that lay under his eyes and his overall tired disposition. As he moved to look at you once more though, your gaze quickly dropped to your lap, giving you time to compose yourself.

“I was trying to get to my phone. None of the damn staff will tell me where I am, what happened, or even what day is it. I wanted to see if I could find some clues there…”

“You should be resting. But you’ve always been stubborn, haven’t you?” With the reminder of your past with the man, you cringed, silently cursing at yourself for the tears that were beginning to form.

“Don’t do this Johnny. Just…please tell me what happened.” The fake smile that he had been trying to maintain finally dropped as he heard the crack in your voice. He nodded, walking slowly to sit on the spot you had just been trying to reach.

“I…don’t know what to say (y/n). We were trying to stop a global problem and in the end, you got hurt. I tried to get to you in time but…it was too late.” He paused, quickly looking to the floor before he softly spoke once more.

“By the time I was able to safely grab you, you hit the cement. Just barely but...shit (y/n). It’s my fault you were this badly hurt. I should have gotten there quicker.”

“Just tell me you caught the son of a bitch who started this whole mess.”

His silence told it all. A string of curses left your lips as the tears finally fell, your casted arm instinctively moving to wipe your eyes. The rough material scratched your skin, leaving it burning as a groan once more escaped your lips. But as he spoke once more, this time in a harsher tone, you ignored the pain as you turned to look at him.

“Who cares about that asshole? When I held you in my arms for the first time in a decade, I wasn’t even sure you would wake up. Goddamn it…I shouldn’t be caring this much. We broke up but seeing you there...I wanted to take it all back. I wanted to go back to being your boyfriend in high school. I wanted you in my arms without fearing that this would be the last time I would get the chance.” With each sentence, his voice cracked, the playboy persona you had been so accustomed to seeing in the papers fading away to reveal the man you had originally fell in love with. The man behind the confident exterior. The side of him that you used to be lucky to know was all yours.

Yet you let him continue, knowing he needed to get this off his chest. Besides, with each word he spoke, you felt the love you had for him, something that was never forgotten but pushed aside, return at full force.

“For years, I tried to find you. I called your school, I went to California, I did everything just to make up for the way I acted. But I could never find you. The school wouldn’t give me any information and after days of searching your campus, I couldn’t do anything but head home. I tried this dozens of times (y/n) but each time just proved to be as unsuccessful as the last. Until finally, I just…I don’t know. I just gave up. I couldn’t take the pain anymore and I did whatever it took to get over it. I shouldn’t have given up though. I should have kept trying because as soon as I saw you again, I realized how big of a fool I was to ever think I could live without you. I-“

You couldn’t take it. The tears that cascaded down your cheeks only grew worse as you interrupted his speech; not wanting to hear more about the shell he had become once you left. Your earlier feelings of guilt were matched by his and not wanting to hear anymore, you sat up, ignoring the pain that ran throughout your body.

“Johnny, I still love you.”

He quickly stood, moving to lean over you as his eyes searched your own as if to reassure himself that what you said was true. Whatever he found was enough to make him sigh in relief, a small smile spreading across his lips as his hand ran against your cheek.

“I love you so much (y/n). It’s always been you. I’m sorry for pushing that feeling aside for awhile but now that I’m with you again, I’ll never forget how much you mean to me.”

“Just shut up and kiss me.” That was all he needed as his lips fell upon your own, a groan escaping from the both of you as a sense of relief came from the kiss. Yes, there were plenty of things you both would need to work through but for now, this was all you needed.

~Tiny Epilogue~

“You did it Johnny. We’re safe because of you.”

With the Silver Surfer gone and the bigger threat of Galactus finally taken care of, you smiled as Johnny relayed each detail at your apartment. With your head resting against his chest, you played with his shirt as his hand rubbed against your back, sending a shiver to run down your spine. With your wounds still healing, he paused after ending the recollection of his latest adventure, making sure you were okay before turning you both to your sides.

“Now that life is back to normal, or as normal as it can be…move in with me. I can’t handle you being across the ocean now that I have you back.”

With his words, you laughed, throwing your head back in delight before you slowly got up. Mindful of your sore body, you carefully moved to open the door to the other room, revealing all the boxes on the floor.

“Great minds think alike. Now are you going to help me pack or am I going to do it all by myself?”

You didn’t need to ask twice. In an instant, he quickly jumped up to place a soft kiss to your lips before lifting you up, carrying you into the next room to help you finish what you started.

“It’s Cold, You Should Take My Jacket.”

Johnny Storm x Reader

Rating: T

Warnings: Innuendos?

(GIF, like always, is not mine)

Summary: Reader meets Johnny

Author’s Note: #81 from this amazing prompt list. Feel free to message me a number with a character from my list! I’d love some input on what to write next!

It was your first Winter in New York and you definitely underestimated the cold. You wrapped your arms around yourself, seeking comfort in the small warmth that came from your long sleeved tee. Your teeth chattered as you quickly made your way through the park, counting the steps until you made it back to the warmth of your apartment. But the odds were stacked against you. Every street light turned red the minute you walked close to it and your idea to take a shortcut through the park? It was just your luck that so many events were going on today, constantly blocking your path.

You cursed as you rubbed your arms, giving up on your brisk pace as you just gave in to the inconveniences. It was your fault anyways. You should have worn something warmer before you went out today. As you slumped down onto a nearby bench, you tried to catch your breath while rubbing your hands together.

“Cold?” You turned to the voice, not even noticing someone sat down next to you until he decided to speak up. He was gorgeous as he lay back against the cold park bench. His hands were tucked inside his leather jacket, his legs crossed and his body turned towards you. He smirked, no doubt holding back a laugh as his bright blue eyes shined.

You blushed, looking down as you fiddled with the sleeves of your shirt. “I’m used to warm weather. Much warmer weather.” You laughed. “Around this time of year, I’d still be lounging around in shorts and a tank top.” “Sexy.” Your head whipped towards him at the comment, watching as he quickly lifted his hands in defense as he laughed. “Hey. You put the image in my head.”

You rolled your eyes, scoffing as you moved to stand up and make the final trek towards your apartment. Before you could step away, his hand covered yours, the warmth from his touch seeming to travel down your body.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. It just slipped out.” He held back a laugh as he gestured towards the bench. “Stay with me. Just for a little longer?”

You should have left. With how cold you were, you should have left him there and went home. But you couldn’t stop yourself from sitting down again, not once moving his hand that lay on top of yours. Gosh, he was so warm…

As if he read your mind, he finally moved his hand away, leaning forward to shrug off his jacket. He stood up, leaning over you as he draped his jacket over your shoulders. “It’s cold, you should take my jacket.”

“But what about you?”

“I’ll be fine.” He chuckled, going back to sit beside you as you looked at him in confusion. How could he be fine in this weather? You should have insisted he take it back. You should have taken the jacket off. But it was so toasty and whatever cologne he wore...it made you melt.

As you snuggled into the leather jacket, you smiled as you turned to face him again.

“So, used to warmer weather, huh?” He asked, scooting a little closer to you. “What brings you here then?”

“Work. If it wasn’t for the raise that came with the relocation, I’d still be soaking in the sun.” You smiled. “And what about you? You seem used to all this.” “I’ve been here for years. This is nothing.” He shrugged. “This is home. I can’t imagine living anywhere else. And besides, if I wasn’t here, I wouldn’t have met a pretty girl like you.”

You rolled your eyes. “Trying to get me in bed?”

“Depends. Is it working?” You sighed.

“And here I thought you were just being nice.”

“I’m kidding.” He laughed, grabbing your hand again. “I’m known for being quite a flirt. It’s kinda hard to stop.”

“Your charms aren’t working on me.” But the playful pout that appeared on his face from your words proved otherwise. You blushed, quickly focusing on his jacket again.

“How about one date then? Maybe I can change your mind.” “What happened to you ‘trying to stop being a flirt?’ Do you do this with all the girls you meet?”

“Used to. I’ve been trying to get my priorities straight recently. But...there’s something about you that just made me want to try my luck.” Your blushed darkened.

“After everything you’ve just told me, I’m not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not.”

“Compliment. Definitely a compliment.” He said and smiled, about to speak once more before his phone went off. He frowned, cursing the thing under his breath as he slid the phone from his pocket. Once he read the message though, his eyes went wide as he scrambled to his feet. He quickly looked around, his hands clenched into fists as he looked up. But his gaze finally landed on you before his body relaxed and instead, he started taking off in the opposite direction. All the while, he ran backwards while still trying to talk to you.

“Listen, I have to go. I’m sorry. It’s an emergency. Call me!”

“Wait! Your jacket!” You said as you hurry to your feet, trying to shrug off the jacket.

“Keep it! It looks better on you anyways.” He shouted, winking at you before he finally disappeared from sight.

Stunned from the recent events, you stood still. It wasn’t until someone shouted nearby that you looked up, seeing flames burst into the sky and disappear into the city. But you just walked back home, still reeling over the conversation you had with that gorgeous stranger. He never gave you his number. How the hell were you supposed to contact him?

It wasn’t until the next day did you know it was Johnny Storm. You stared at his picture in the newspaper on your way to the mall for more appropriate winter attire. You had unconsciously put on the leather jacket that morning and now, it felt like fate that you did. You smiled as you turned around, heading towards the Baxter building instead.

...Part 2?
