Just Felt Like Its Important - Tumblr Posts

a rant by me

me and my tired self is just here to say: kids aren’t inherently transphobic or homophobic.

while there are exceptions **cough parenting cough** most children won’t look at a trans and/or gay person and think “evil ew evil get away from me”

when I was younger, my parents didn’t even tell me about the existence of non-hetero, non-cis people. one day, I was watching TV and saw a girl who had a crush on another girl; I didn’t even find it remarkable. I just said to myself “hmm I though the crush was gonna be a boy, but ok. you do you” and kept watching.

I listened to Taylor Swift’s You Need To Calm Down the day it came out and completely agreed that you can’t just wish a minority away until they disappear, even though my parents curse out and mock and wish death upon LGBT+ people in my home to this day,

but I disagree with them.

with information and a chance outside of an homo/trans/[insert-here]phobe’s manipulation, a kid will see a toxic mindset vs. a community that cheers everyone — especially LGBT+ people and other minorities — on. I saw the difference, and to this day, I know I chose the right one.
