Killjoy Headcanons - Tumblr Posts

so ive been working on a redesign/my interpretation of the killjoys, so I decided to make a list of my headcanons for them so my design choices make a lil more sense!

KOBRA KID:

-uses they/them

-nblm babey

-wears bandages up to their elbows most days due to lots of scars from road burn, claps, and whatnot

-punk as fuck 

-very religious and superstitious, might be a little bit clairvoyant but who knows

- very tall

- left leg is a droid leg, they got it blown off from a bomb a while back

-chainsmoker despite having asthma

-sk8ter boy

- ADHD as hell dude

-bpd too

-youngest of the four

PARTY POISON:

- uses he/she/they (preferences switches by day usually)

-bi rights motherfucker

-give them a mullet you cowards

-writes bad notes app poetry a lot

-’I put the sexy in dyslexia’

-very good at math and anything to do with numbers, suprisingly

-found a rosary and thinks its really cool, wears it all the time

-best aim out of the four

- great w/ animals, its not out of place for them to show up at the diner with some coyote pup or stray cat at their heels

-2nd oldest

FUN GHOUL:

- he/him, tranz

- queer

- has a lot of mis-matching stick n pokes

-has gauges, but he fucked up the left one so now they’re two different sizes

-autistic probably

- does everyone else’s tats for the most part

-very long hair, has a few uneven pieces from various accidents

-he says he can drum but its really just ghoul hitting some buckets with sticks in what might be a rhythym

-great at graffiti but not so much with other art forms

-short lol

-2nd youngest

JET STAR:

-he/they

-mlm babey

- he has a stray cat named PB who just. follows him everywhere. no one knows where she came from

- mistaken for the mom friend a lot, but is more of a wine aunt if anything

-has vitiligo

-mild ocd

- after they lost an eye, their depth perception has gone to shit

-is actually not a very good driver, contrary to popular belief. he just likes to floor the gas pedal and go bonkers

- terrible fuckin sleep schedule

- says bro and dude way too much

- can also skate but can’t do any tricks, they just kinda cruise

-oldest

sum tidbits on the kobra kid bc I would die for them ok

(btw these are all my headcanons/expanding on my headcanons)

- out of the four, kobra has the most piercings

- c o n s t a n t l y moving, no matter what. whether they’re bouncing their leg fast enough to rattle the whole table, pacing around the diner for hours on end, or just cracking their fingers over and over again, they’re in constant motion. they relish in the fact that out in the desert, they can fidget and stim as much as they want to

- although kobes and ghoul don’t see eye to eye on a lot, the both of them are total ADHD/autistic solidarity

- most people think of kobra as the semi-responsible one of the four, but in truth, they’re a impulsive bastard. the thing is, they’re smart enough not to get caught

- firm believer and follower in the phoenix witch, prays and talks to her every day

- very interested in witchcraft and divination. they have a banged up tarot deck that’s missing a few cards, but kobra is scarily good at using them to predict outcomes and read people. about a week after meeting jet star, they did a reading for them. the reading was so accurate that jet is now somewhat convinced that kobra is slightly telapathic or something

- they’re very tall and gangly, standing at 6″5 when they’re not slouching

- a few years after becoming a killjoy, they got their left leg blown off by a BLi bomb. they have a mechanical leg now

- kobra’s gender is no while party’s gender is yes

- they have very prominent canines a tooth gap

- despite having asthma, they are a heavy chainsmoker. they started smoking just to look older and tougher, but it got a little out of hand

- sk8er boy, they found a longboard in a junk pile and now theyre fairly good on it

- master of zoning out, one second you’ll be having a nice conversation with them and the next second they are gone

So I’ve been working on transcripts of these farmers’ memories at my job and one of them mentioned his old Jet Star tractor... Turns out the “Minneapolis-Moline ‘Jet Star’” was a model of tractor in the late 50′s and early 60′s. 

So, for anyone in the Killjoys fandom looking for a potential origin story for Jet Star’s moniker, consider this: he grew up on a farm, and when BLI took over and everyone started picking fancy names, he took the name of one of his family’s old tractors. Maybe he felt nostalgic for his youth on the farm, or maybe he just thought it sounded cool; perhaps it’s a bit of both. 

I would like to present: Pirate Killjoycore! I’m pretty sure I’m not the first person to suggest pirates in the Danger Days ‘verse*–after all, we know that east of Battery City, the desert is full of runaways fighting BLI, but there’s all that ocean to the west unaccounted for. Why wouldn’t some ‘joys run off to sea instead of the desert, steal some boats, and carry on the fight on the other front? 

So, I wanted to try and capture how the Killjoy vibe might play out on the pirate side of things. I figure some ‘joys steal big yachts and graffiti them up and manage to run them off of the same mystical fuel source cars in the Zones run on. Maybe others who can’t get the magic gas thing to work for them or who don't want to rely on fuel patchwork together sails from scraps of fabric, graffiti those, and cobble together some rigging--and maybe some were lucky enough to grab up actual Tall Ships for that authentic Pirate Vibe.

If you’re a pirate ‘joy, of course, your boat will also be your crew’s home, so I figure they’re pretty cozy and colorful inside, too (and probably pretty cluttered, but in a homey way). As far as Pirate Killjoy fashion, I imagine it’s as bright, chaotic, and colorful as its counterpart Zones fashion, except naturally more pirate-inspired, with long swishy coats and big hats. 

I have a lot more Pirate Killjoycore pictures saved that didn’t make it into this moodboard, too, so let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to see more of! I can always make posts with individual pictures, too; my standard moodboard formatting wasn’t working this time since I needed my pictures to be different widths and heights for this one, so I had to make it elsewhere, hence why it’s all one image, but if you want to see one or more pictures closer, let me know. 

Seriously though feel free to ask me about Pirate Killjoys and related aesthetics! I am very slow about answering asks but I do have many thoughts about this :)

Disclaimer, I don’t necessarily go through all of my sources, I just grab the pictures and links from image searches; that said, I did happen to click around a bit and the image on the flickr account the bottom left picture came from is right next to a picture of a dead person so I felt like I should give fair warning in case you decide to look through that flickr at all. It appears to be some part of a funeral procession in India but the dead person is clearly visible so, fair warning. 

Also I did watch the video on La Preciosa (top left, the boat with the smiley face) and that was pretty cool (and had definite Killjoy vibes). :)  

Also technically I found the first graffitied tall ship here but I did a reverse image search to find my sources and the artist’s page has more information about the painting. Now that I look at the original post though, you can actually see the details of the painting better there I think.
