yeah, the cartoon design ruled
a problem with timber wolf is that he looks like a wolverine ripoff. even though wolverine is actually the timber wolf ripoff, hashtag know your comic book history. so i wanted to make him look like a badass werewolf man and i wanted to make him look like his own guy, impossible to mistake for a bargain bin logan
my favorite part is the zoroark ponytail - i did want to stop just shy of giving him a tail, and this is the perfect happy medium to get that full wolfy vibe. i actually also colorpicked some of his palette from photos OF timber wolves, which is just also fun
it's not my most complicated design - dark reds and browns with limited neon orange accents, mostly repeating those shapes from his little logo, something that passes for a sick leather jacket, ripped pants, swag fingerless gloves...i just wanted him to look cool

ghost! alien! ghost alien! i wanted to make her look like a ghost alien!
her whacky eyes and teeth i pushed all the way into nightmare before christmas ish territory, because i think it's a fun way to make her look ghostly without doing anything any more literal (i can't give her jacob marley chains, or make her translucent...i COULD have given her a little...tail...leg..thing..like danny phantom...but i didn't)
i played around with those little hair clips she has sometimes, and i made them into horns to push her away from being a Differently Colored In Human. the crazy eyes are very busy, so i wanted to keep her face as simple as possible, making it all one flat shape. also, i think i'm cute and i made her face look a bit like the iconography of the phantom's mask. because phantom.
normal hair would look a little weird to me attached to all that i changed for the face and head, so i gave her that floaty smoke to imply her hair instead.
the pzh middle-of-body stripes stay, because i like them, and a simple implication of that little bar logo she has sometimes tops it off. also borrowed from pzh is that full-body white cape, which just makes the coolest poses. combined with my cartoony ways, it makes her into a very pose-able little ghosty, which is so much fun to draw. the hair acting more like smoke than hair complements that, i hope!
overall, i just wanted to make her look like a ghost alien you guys. but i also wanted to make her look friendly and cute, because...tinya is pretty friendly and cute! those two goals are very fun to try and find a compromise for, and this is definitely one of my fave legionnaire designs

this is one i've reworked a bunch of times actually, and i like where he ended up for now...there is a lot to work with for mr nah but also a lot about his usual design that is sort of generic
my first mission was to make him look like an alien, so i gave him spikes and some green scaly skin. one thing i've tried to avoid is ONLY making these characters Alien by crayon-boxing their skin, so for some of them i've given them a human-ish tone but with non-human features, like here. tbh i'm not TOTALLY sold on it, but i think it works alright
putting a little more personality into jo's design is a lot of fun - i LOVE jo's power gimmick, and giving him those wonky haphazard spike does two things: make him look ready to tussle and rumble, and make him look a little off-kilter and unbalanced. the hope is that this communicates his very Roll With The Punches shtick
i had to make him beefy. i liked super beefy jo from retroboot. i also like long hair for jo, and i put it in that floofy ponytail to use some more triangles and squares basically...
as for colors, the green and red is kind of necessary to be recognizable as ultra boy, but i desaturated and darkened the red more than usual. i wanted to keep those obnoxious green pants, and i think that dimming the shirt a bit helps it look a little more cohesive. i also am a fan of staying away from generic spandex when possible, so i gave him that ripped shirt.......over his spandex............to make him look cool
hi :^) i want to challenge myself to draw more again so i am going to try to do a month long challenge. it is the le-june of superheroes and i will try to draw a legionnaire a day

this one is based fairly heavily on the cartoon design, especially that one piece of concept art where she had a pink streak in her hair. i decided to flip that to make her a little more monochrome and to fit my biggest goal for a LOT of these designs:
to make them more alien looking!
imra's cartoon design already had the vulcan ears, and i added a little bit of a gray alien look to that. the blank, dark eyes work well for giving her a little bit of uncanny mystique, and making her a little spindly and long-limbed emphasizes the fact that she fights with her brain
the big ring skirt is mostly just a self-indulgence, but i also wanted to tie into some older costumes where she has skirts!
and finally, the pink is just because it looks cute on her <3

So, I've been meaning to draw some fanart for this show ever since I rewatched it around christmas. It used to be one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, and my first introduction to the DC universe and I love saturn girl a lot.
(Ok, admittedly I'm not sure if this fits the promt 100% because I had already done the sketch before finding out about the week. So it's more about the power than the perks haha.)

Rokk Krin was a space explorer from a distant galaxy whose one-man vessel was snared by a black hole. For eons he was held on event horizon, although to him it felt like a few hours. He witnessed the birth and death of stars. He lost consciousness as he fell into the black hole he lost, and when he woke he found himself in our galaxy in the Earth AI time period of the 31st Century, his body aged backwards to late adolescence.
Rokk soon discovered that as a result of his incredible journey through the black hole, he had gained the ability to create and control magnetic force. His fantastic adventure inspired him to call himself "Cosmic Boy".
Shortly after, on a shuttlecraft in the Sol system, Rokk helped to save quadrillionaire R.J. Brande from terrorists. A gratified Brande invited Rokk and the two others who teamed with him, Irma Ardeen and Garth Ranzz, to form a special ops team, the Legion of Super-Heroes which was later chartered by the UP as its membership mushroomed.
The Legion of Super-Heroes is a heroic adventure team established in the 31st Century by RJ Brande. The team draws their inspiration from the super-powered heroes of the 20th and 21st Century.
A few members of the team have styled themselves after their forebears from a millennia before their birth, however it is difficult to separate historical fact from fanciful stories. It can even be difficult to determine which photographs and video are real and which were created as fiction in later years. Hence their costuming can be somewhat inaccurate.

Sun Boy is a humanoid manifestation of the sentience of Earth’s sun.
In the late 30th Century scientists discovered unusual patterns in the solar radiation of Earth’s sun. Eventually these were recognized as language. Through painstaking study and experimentation humans learned to communicate with the sentience of their sun, and the sun created a humanoid form to live among and learn about the lifeforms on it’s third planet.

A member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Wilimena Morgana Daergina Annaxandra Projectra Velorya Vauxhall is also a member of the royal family of the low-tech planet Orando in the 31st Century. She possesses the superhuman ability to generate illusions affecting all five humanoid senses.
