1. Tournament of Elements
The Skulkin look for the golden weapons to free Garmadon in the Underworld, but without a map, they have no idea where to look— until a humble merchant swings by saying he has a clue, but he’ll need some of their Underworld magic in return. The stupid skeletons agree, and Master Chen & Clouse get their hands on the golden weapons and a spell to gather the current elemental masters for their tournament. Problem is— many don’t even know they have powers!
First squad meeting is at the Tournament, and they bond through the teams they’re placed on. Lloyd is stolen straight from Darkley’s and is too young to participate so some goons keep an eye on him (though he quickly becomes babysat by the entire force of Elemental Masters). Morro is also pulled straight from the Cursed Realm to the tournament, much to his utter confusion. Master Chen’s plan to steal all the elements succeeds, and he begins his snake plan, which leads us to—
2. Rise of the Snakes
Except instead of releasing the Serpentine for evil, it’s the newly formed and very shaky Elemental Alliance trying to recruit more allies against Master Chen and his legion of Anacondria! Cole steps up as the leader the alliance needs, and after some time adjusting and bonding along the way, the alliance grows stronger.
An old man by the name of Sensei Wu approaches the group, introducing himself as Lloyd’s uncle, and offers to help train them.
Pythor is let out because they were hoping to find real Anacondia to help them fight against Master Chen, and he plays the smooth-talking saviour only to stab them in the back by tricking them into raising the Great Devourer- which... does eat Master Chen, his army, and at least some of the Golden Weapons, so... minor victories? The squad also manages to get the staff of elements back and regain their powers. However, Pythor gets away, now with the Great Devourer under his control, and Clouse does as well.
Also Morro’s part of the Alliance and is working as a sleeper agent for the Preeminent, though he’ll get his doubts over time. Skylor remains a snek, though she’s on the side of good. And Zane still does not know he’s a nindroid- he has his falcon friend, but there has been no time to investigate Birchwood Forest
3. Skybound
“But Imp!” you cry. “How can Skybound happen if Djinnjago isn’t destroyed by the Cursed Realm’s destruction?”
Well- Clouse and Pythor set up an alliance and bide their time. Clouse hears about a teapot that grants wishes and retrieves it, hoping to revive Master Chen and his army from the belly of the Great Devourer. This ends up releasing Nadakhan, who in turn gets his Misfortune’s Keep Crew back. Clouse and Pythor convince him to join their alliance, but before he revives Master Chen and the goons, he wants to take his crew to see Djinnjago, which- is not destroyed! We get some new Djinnjago lore, and the squad (the six not-ninja, Morro, and Skylor) ends up accidentally travelling along because they were in the area trying to spy on Clouse and Pythor.
Jay ends up getting himself into quite a bit of accidental trouble with the ruler of Djinnjago because he’s found ‘snooping around’ (aka looking for the group when they got separated) and winds up in an arranged marriage that the squad has to save him from- especially when his powers start going out of control both from panic and from some interference from Clouse and Pythor
With the help of the squad, Jay manages to realize his true potential and wrangle his powers back under control, though Djinnjago ends up in ruin from the resulting storm. Nadakhan, now motivated, swears vengeance on the squad and officially teams up with Clouse and Pythor, who slink into the background to plot.
Also Jay ends up with an eyepatch/eye scar for the rest of the series, I don’t make the rules, it’s Skybound
4. Possession
Djinnjago’s ruin leads to the rushing of the Preeminent’s plans as she tries to keep the Cursed Realm from crumbling. Morro is ordered to find the Realm Crystal, but first must find Wu (who has been absent this whole time keeping Garmadon and the Skulkin in check). He ends up possessing various members of the squad to find and talk to Wu, because he doesn’t want his old master to know it’s him. Wu begins to suspect anyway and Morro runs off with a kid Lloyd to find the Realm Crystal themselves with the ghost legion the Preeminent sends. Lloyd eventually manages to tip Morro’s doubts over into officially betraying the Preeminent- and then Morro is uno-reverse carded and possessed by her. Now the race for the crystal is even more pressing.
Lloyd is rescued from the Preeminent’s clutches by Kai, who gains his true potential saving him from the Temple in exchange for winding up as a ghost. Ghost!Cole might also happen, idk.
Nya eventually gains her true potential and obliterates the Preeminent and the legion of ghosts- though Morro ends up sacrificing himself to save the others from her.
(But don’t worry- he will be back!)
5. Rebooted
Clouse, Pythor, and Nadakhan are back! Using strategically planned wishes and traps (and one of Master Chen’s old allies they hire back, The Mechanic), they’re able to take control of the newly built Borg Tower (that isn’t built over an evil grave) and use it to mass produce their own army. These nindroids aren’t based on Zane, however- as he (somehow) does not yet know he is a nindroid- and are instead based on Pixal, though with varying appearances thanks to the Evil Trio’s wish for an army loyal only to them. Misfortune’s Crew is vibing, by the way.
After battling their way to Borg Tower, Zane is injured in a fight and learns he is a nindroid. The revelation comes as quite a shock to him and his team, especially with all the bad stigma around nindroids the villains’ army is creating, but they (and new ally Pixal) are quick to reassure him. Zane’s falcon friend swoops by with a set of blueprints, Zane finds the memory switch, and remembers his past.
With the help of Pixal, the squad shut down the power and sever the connection between the villains and their army, freeing the nindroids and allowing them to think for themselves. They also manage to trick Nadahkan with their new army and seal him back into the Teapot.
But the villains aren’t going out without a fight. Using collected tech from the tower, they armour up the Great Devourer and lead a charge against the squad, almost destroying them- until Zane steps forward.
And in a grand flurry of ice, snow, sacrifice, and True Potential, the Great Devourer explodes.
This leads to the retrieval of some of the Golden Weapons the Great Devourer had swallowed so long ago. The squad is devastated by Zane’s sacrifice- another member gone so soon after Morro’s sacrifice- and vow to get him back.
6. Day of the Departed
It gets to be a mini-season! When Kai, still stuck as a ghost, starts fading, it’s up to Cole, Jay, Nya, Lloyd, Pixal, and Skylor to infiltrate the Departed Realm to break his curse- and to retrieve Morro and Zane along the way! They end up splitting into teams; Jay, Nya, & Pixal, Skylor & Lloyd, and Cole &- Lou?
That’s right, Cole gets to go on a mission with his dad, get some bonding time, and discover his True Potential, all while learning about his mom and rescuing three members of the squad.
In the end, Zane and Morro are brought back (with Zane’s new body being built by the combined efforts of all the tech-oriented squad members & Cyrus Borg), and Kai regains his body
Dunno if Morro remains a ghost or is back to living in a regular body afterward
7. Pilots
Garmadon, still stuck in the Underworld due to the missing Golden Weapons & Wu’s interference and having since managed to acquire four arms, has finally had enough, and the Skulkin make their move. Needing a safe way in hand out of the underworld, the squad searches for the four guardian dragons of the weapons. After find the map in the Four Swords Blacksmiths (and a certain helmet and symbol), the squad spread out, tame the dragons, and invade the Underworld.
Lloyd- who is still a kid- is captured by Skulkin and taken to his dad, who is very happy to see his son again. Lots of sweet hugs. The weapons react around him, however, revealing him as the Green Ninja just as the others arrive to save him. Conflicted about the prophecy and through the convincing of his son not to hurt his new family right now, Garmadon escapes to Ninjago using the newly formed Megaweapon without a fight.
8/9. Legacy of the Green Ninja / Hands of Time
With Garmadon free, he can begin his attack on Ninjago, using wishes from the mega weapon to attempt to take out the Elemental Alliance without hurting his son. Because they’re cool, there’s a bunch of different bizarros/evil ninja clones for Pixal, Skylor, and Morro (and possibly other EMs)- and some of them manage to get away, because I say so.
Wu brings up the prophecy of the Green Ninja and how the weapons reacted to Lloyd in the Underworld and what it means. Morro, who's been hiding from Sensei Wu, finally talks with him about the scroll and their history and resolves some of their conflict, though it will take some time to heal. Wu says that seeing Morro again has given him the courage to face his other mistakes of the past and heads off alone
In the middle of all this Megaweapon Madness, Acronix lands in the present and fights Wu- who is rescued by Morro and the members of the Alliance. From here the squad juggles fighting Garmadon and fighting the Time Twins, switching who fights who repeatedly and trying to keep the two (three) villains from teaming up.
Kai and Nya track down the clues earlier and find their parents, fight them, and make-up. However, they’re forced to grab the time blade under the boiling sea
In the end, the Time Twins temporarily age-up Lloyd, fast-forwarding the prophecy. Misako appears and the squad splits into two groups- the Core 4 and Lloyd head to the Island of Darkness, brought forth by the mega weapon, while the other Elemental Masters (+ Pixal) take on the Time Twins. Garmadon becomes possessed by the Overlord, who invades Ninjago. Before he can take it over, the Time Twins send everyone to the past- back when the Overlord first settled on the Dark Island. There starts a three-way fight between our heroes, the Time Twins and their mech, and the Overlord, past and present.
After much dark matter and time travel, Lloyd gains his golden powers and frees his father from evil. Everyone travels back to the present and Wu traps the Time Twins in the timestream but is de-aged to a baby. The squad find him immediately while Lloyd is reversed back to his kid-state as he belongs, and all is well.
Also- while travelling to the Dark Island, the Core 4 + Lloyd and Misako stumbled upon Dr. Julien and Echo in the lighthouse and rescue them.
10. Master of the Mountain
While taking a much-deserved break after so much craziness, the squad is invited to Shintaro for the birthday of Princess Vania. Newly reformed Sensei Garmadon is invited along as well, getting to spend even more time with his wife and his young son because they deserve to be happy gosh darn it.
Cole is especially excited after hearing from his father that Lily used to visit Shintaro (a continuation of the Day of the Departed mini season storyline of Cole learning more about his mom) and seeks to know why she visited so often. After an encounter with the Geckle in the middle of the night, Cole, Vania, and a curious Morro venture into the mines and discover the Skulk Sorcerer.
Many aspects of the season stay relatively the same. One of the major differences is that Wu’s arc about him regaining his confidence in himself as a teacher & his place in the group is instead traded for an arc of Sensei Garmadon adjusting to a no-venom life, and Garmadon is the one to accompany Vania and Cole to the depths of the mountain while babysitting his baby-ified brother.
Also Morro gets to tame Grief Bringer, as a treat
11. Sons of Garmadon
The squad return to Ninjago City after their trip to Shintaro to find it under attack by a biker-gang that wants to re-corrupt Sensei Garmadon! It’s a race for the Oni masks, which the SoG believe will have the power to turn Garmadon evil again. Harumi tries to get Garmadon’s beloved son out of the way because he’s impeding the mission, but overall her hatred is against all the members of the Elemental Alliance for not stopping Pythor and the Great Devourer sooner.
The SoG gather all three masks first, but thanks to some fantastic undercover work by “Snake Jaguar, Rocky Dangerbuff, Citrine Snake, and Ominous Wind” (Zane, Cole, Morro, and Skylor), the squad manage to interrupt the ceremony and save Sensei Garmadon & his family! A very defeated SoG swear vengeance and run off to lick their wounds.
But in the shadows, a new villain is lurking…
12. Prime Empire
The Mechanic, aided by some dark magic from Clouse, teams up with Unagami to spread Prime Empire across the city. In return for their help, Unagami offers their help in: controlling the electronics in the city to ensure bank heists run smoothly (for the Mechanic) and destroying the Ninja (for Clouse). They just need an internal battery...
Jay is lured into the game and the others plunge in after him- including Skylor and Morro, who also get their unique avatar looks, and possibly Zane, Pixal, and Echo (Zane’s avatar is his Ninjago Confidential look). They locate “Jay” and find the key blades, meeting Okino, Scott, and Racer Seven - only to learn the Jay travelling with them is just an NPC projection sent by Jay, and that the real Jay is at the heart of the game, being hooked up as a battery. They race to rescue him, and upon finding Unagami, the portal to the real world opens.
The squad fight Unagami and begin to talk them down, but Clouse and the Mechanic blackmail them into continuing the fight. Despite warnings not to because of the danger, Jay overloads the portal by tapping into his true potential and lightning powers.
The NPCs and players are freed from the game, but it comes at a cost- a rip in space and time opens and sucks in Kai, Zane, Echo, Cole, a young Wu, and Jay (as well as the Mechanic and Clouse), leaving the rest of the squad in Ninjago City
13/14. Hunted / Fire Chapter / Ice Chapter
Nya, Pixal, Morro, Skylor, Lloyd, and Sensei Garmadon search for the missing half of the squad, but the explosion of the portal seems to have left no survivors and they fear the worst. Desperate to find his brother and his students, Sensei Garmadon, led into a trap with a false map, accidentally finds an ancient artifact that corrupts him back to evil. This map was a gift curtsy of the Sons of Garmadon, who make their vicious return and attack the city.
Meanwhile, in an icy realm...
Zane crashes in the Neverrealm along with the Mechanic and is knocked out. Sensing an opportunity, the Mechanic reprograms him and wipes his memory, and teams up with local evildoer Vex that knows his way around the realm. Despite not having the Staff of Forbidden Spinjitzu, Zane is still quite powerful, especially with the Mechanic’s upgrades
Meanwhile, in a desert long back in time...
Kai and Echo crash-land in a desert both familiar and unfamiliar, and find themselves locked in the past! While exploring, they come across a young Wu- but it isn’t the young Wu they’ve come to know. It’s the Wu of the past, along with a young Garmadon, on their way to teach their new snake friend Aspheera some Spinjitzu! Kai’s suspicious but Echo, naive bean, offers friendship- dragging Kai and Echo into Aspheera’s plot to overthrow the Serpentine King. Kai and Echo (alongside the young Garmadon and Wu) almost seem to defeat Aspheera- until her help, Clouse, revels himself and attacks with dark magic. Kai has his powers dampened by Clouse's magic and, despite not trusting it, grabs one of the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu in a desperate move to save Echo from a magic blast.
However, Clouse's magic binds the staff to Kai’s hand, and just as Kai and Echo defeat him and Aspheera, Aspheera manages to banish them both to another realm, along with the second staff- though Clouse is left trapped in the past and entombed. Kai and Echo awake in a land of ice, and while trudging to the shelter of a cave, fail to notice the second staff lying in the snow behind them...
Vex and the Mechanic get their hands on this staff and use it to further power up their Ice Emperor. Kai and Echo catch wind of a ‘metallic figure falling from the sky’ one day and rush to the palace to save Zane, thinking the Ice Emperor has him prisoner. Along the way, they meet Akita and Kragg, and become allies. Kai struggles with the corruption of the staff but luckily has Echo along to keep him from falling to its clutches. They infiltrate the palace, free Akita’s brother, discover the Ice Emperor’s identity, and battle him. Kai and the Ice Emperor have a one-on-one, staff vs. staff, fire vs. ice fight, and while Kai succeeds in melting off most of the Ice Emperor’s armour and upgrades, he’s wounded by ice and nearly killed- only for Echo to leap in the way. Jogged by the memory of his brother & his close friend, Zane snaps out of it and turns on Vex and the Mechanic.
They’re able to free the staff from Kai’s hand, free the realm, and then use the staffs to create a portal home.
While all this is going on, in a barren wasteland...
Cole, a young Wu, and an unconscious Jay emerge in the First Realm. Seeing his friend limp, Cole drags him and Wu to shelter, then cares for them until Jay regains consciousness. Unfortunately, the blast of lightning overloading the portal also temporarily overloaded Jay’s brain, leaving him loopy, a bit deranged, alternating between drained and overcharged powers, and with a spotty memory.
That’s right, Cole’s on babysitting duty. And he would have done a darn good job at it- especially with his increased elemental powers ever since Shintaro and learning the Spinjitzu Burst move- if the Dragon Hunters hadn’t arrived. He’s kidnapped and held at their camp, first under pretence as an oni, then as an elemental master, leaving Wu and Jay to rescue him.
As expected, the rescue mission goes awry.
Also Jay blows up the camp with a server over-necessary amount of lightning while giggling like a maniac. Young teen Wu claps.
Faith ends up giving them a ride, searching for the dragon armour, and the rest of the season goes somewhat normal- plus a bit more shenanigans from Cole having the only braincell- and with Firstborne’s help, they’re able to return to Ninjago City.
Which is, despite the resistance of Nya, Pixal, Morro, Skylor, Lloyd, and the other Elemental Masters, not looking so great. The SoG, along with a corrupted Sensei Garmadon, have the city almost completely taken over, with only the Resistance holding them back from total control. Morro and Lloyd get an arc about what it means to be the Green Ninja, and together with the reunited squad, they uncorrupt Sensei Garmadon and overthrow the SoG once and for all.
Also UV meets her match against an overcharged Jay & an overprotective pissed-off Nya and gets hit by a boatload of lightning and water while Killow is beaten up with kindness by Echo
Zane gets to take some time for himself (well, with the group, because he hates being separated from them) because he’s already traumatized from the Neverrealm and needs some recovery.
With Vex and the Mechanic in the Neverrealm, Clouse stuck in a tomb, Aspheera (present) never released from her prison yet, the SoG disbanded, Nadakhan locked in the Teapot since Rebooted, Master Chen long gone, the Iron Baron melted into a statue via dragon-breath, the Time Twins lost to the vortex, the Skull Sorcerer defeated, Unagami redeemed, and Sensei Garmadon uncorrupted, it looks like all is well.
But one last threat rests over the horizon... though there’s a small stop first.
15. The Island
(As I have recently finished watching this special, I can now slot it in)
A small interlude- Misako, Sensei Garmadon, a now-no-longer-child Wu, Lloyd, Morro, Kai, and Nya are on a well-earned family vacation when suddenly their explorer vessel crashes in the Storm Belt. They call for help, leading Cole, Pixal, Skylor, Zane, and Jay on a mission to save them.
They go to Twitchy Tim for a map but leave the poor guy at home to rest, and Jay actually gets him to cooperate by being a kindred spirit in being overcharged and forgetful (he has a cable with a battery that he chews on to regulate his powers). Then the rescue mission is off-
And immediately crash land. Go figure.
They meet Zippy (because Zippy is amazing) and end up by the Keepers, who accuse them of trying to steal the Storm Gem. They’re locked up, with Jay being used as a sacrifice because of his overcharged lightning being mistaken as a sign of Wojira.
The squad breaks out as normal, tries to rescue Jay, fail, realize it’s a fake, explain to the Keepers, and go fight Ronin (and potentially Pythor), which includes a very awkward confrontation between Ronin and Morro. The day is saved and everyone can go home!
At least the whole experience meant Jay got hit by a bunch of extra lightning, which, while not a total ‘cheesy fix it’, does help him regulate his powers more and stop being quite as loopy. Also ominous sleeping Wojira yada yada I haven’t finished Seabound yet no spoilers
16. March of the Oni
The ominous evil from the end of S14 is finally strong enough to make its move! One final charge of evil against our heroes and the allies they’ve made along the way! The oni are coming, and it’s time to act fast. The Elemental Alliance evacuate the city with the help of the Serpentine and the Nindroid Army, with Okino being a prominent guide in getting people to safety. Vania’s guards help carry any remaining citizens to the sky as the dark smoke begins to envelope the city.
With the civilians safe, the squad focus on getting Wu, Garmadon, and Lloyd into the smog as the only three with oni blood. Cole still gets his dramatic fall but he Spinjitzu Bursts when he lands and makes a comment to himself over how it wasn’t nearly as high as the fall in Shintaro.
It ends with a giant Tornado of Creation, including Amber and Wind, and a big group celebration!
And then maybe Crystallized happens somehow idk haven’t seen it no spoilers! And then Seabound after? Dunno
And yeah, that’s the season rewrite! :D Feel free to ask questions or leave comments
Dumb AU challenge.
Shuffle up the Ninjago timeline by random number and rewrite how the mixed up seasons would still flow with a rewritten narative.
This means the Ninja could be working solo until S1 happens 4 seasons down the line. Nya could be merged with sea as soon as 2 seasons. Etc.
The only restriction would be for Day of The Departed has to be either before Hands of Time or after Possesion. And The Island has to be before Seabound.
The list of Seasons:
Pilots (and mini movies)
Rise of the Snakes
Legacy of the Green Ninja
Rebooted
Tournament of Elements
Possession (w/DotD epilogue)
Skybound
Hands of Time (w/ DotD prologue)
Sons of Garmadon
Hunted
March of The Oni
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu (Fire and Ice Chapters can be 12a and 12b)
Prime Empire
Master of The Mountain
Seabound (w/ The Island prologue)
Crystalized
Another restriction that can be applied would be to shuffle the timeline in two portions of WILFilms Era and WildBrain Era.
WILFilms Era being Pilots through Hands of Time-
And WildBrain Era being Sons of Garmadon through Crystalized.

(For @twigs-sprigs and @shadesofvermillionvoid ninjago sonic au)
KA-BOOM!
Smoke pours in thick grey clouds out of every window of the workshop. For the past few hours, a series of almost cartoonish noises had been emitting from the inventor’s shack. Loud crashing, drills whirring, you name it, the sound had been heard. But the explosion was the loudest of all, startling anyone nearby to attention.
From where he sits on a large flat stone redoing his bandages and ropes, Kai’s tail flares with fire, fur rising like a spooked cat. He whips his head around to stare at the workshop, wondering what could have possibly gone wrong for that explosion to have ripped through the otherwise peaceful afternoon.
A short figure stumbles out of the door, waving smoke from his face. The end of his scarf is on fire, his metal body coated in soot.
Kai rolls his eyes and rises to his feet. “Jay, what did you blow up this time?”
Jay coughs, wiping soot from the outer glass of his bowl with his tentacles. “Oh, nothing much, just the stupid PLANE I’ve been working on for HOURS because some IDIOT decided to use the propellor as a FRISBEE during the last fight—”
He cuts himself off— a very rare thing for him to do— and stares at his bowl.
There’s a tiny crack along the side, spraying the faintest trickle of water.
Jay is quiet for a solid five seconds— a new record, in Kai’s opinion— before letting out an ear-pitching wail. He throws himself at Kai, mech arms grabbing him by the chest strap and dragging him down to his level. “KAI! KAI MY BOWL IS CRACKED! I’M LOSING WATER!”
“Jay, you’re fine,” Kai scoffs. “It’s just a tiny drip. You’re fine.”
Jay shakes him in a panic, leaning all his weight forward onto Kai. “I’M DYING! GET NYA! I NEED LIFE SUPPORT! ANOTHER BOWL! MORE SALTWATER! I’M GONNA DIE!”
Shaking his head, Kai sets him back upright. “Get a grip, man, you’re not dying.”
Jay puts a hand up to his bowl and swoons, collapsing to the dirt. “I CAN FEEL MY LIFEFORCE FADING! GET A CHAOS EMERALD! GET AN AMBULANCE! GET—”
Kai scoops the bowl off his shoulders and trudges off with an annoyed huff. It doesn’t take long to reach his living quarters in their base camp, though with Jay’s continuous whining in his ears, it feels like it takes decades. He kicks open the door, a startled Lloyd crashing off the couch with a yelp. Kai pulls him back onto the couch with one hand, holding the still-yammering-squid-in-a-barely-cracked-bowl under his other arm.
Lloyd rubs his eyes with a stifled yawn, stretching out before eying the bowl. “Uh, what happened?”
“Jay’s dying, apparently,” Kai says dryly.
He walks over to the bathtub, turns the water on, and dumps Jay in. He hits the bottom with a wet squelch and looks up at him in surprise, then (to no ones surprise) immediately begins complaining. “KAAAAAAI- I’M A SALTWATER SQUID! NOT FRESHWATER!”
Kai sits back on the counter, tail flicking back and forth. “Just be grateful I didn’t dump you in the toilet bowl instead.”
That shuts Jay up pretty quick.
Thinking about your amazing sonic au now so you're just going to have to accept a bunch of ask spam <3
On a scale of 1-10, how doomed is Jay if his bowl cracks? And can Nya improvise as water/life support if necessary?
not that doomed, he can probably stay on dryness for a while, but yeah nya would probably act as water support JKDWWD
so, like... a 5/10, only half doomed
Ninjago Focus Season Shuffle Challenge!
Ayo fellow ninjago fans, I’ve got an AU challenge for you! Shuffle the focus ninja of any season (this is specifically for the WildBrain seasons, aka Season 11 onwards, but feel free to do this with prior seasons too if you feel inspired!) and see what happens.
The WildBrain specific challenge is as follows:
Original Focus Order:
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu (Fire Chapter) = Kai
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu (Ice Chapter) = Zane
Prime Empire = Jay
Master of The Mountain = Cole
The Island / Seabound = Nya
Crystalized = Lloyd
Take Seasons 11-15/16 (Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu Part 1 & 2, Prime Empire, Master of the Mountain, The Island/Seabound, and Crystalized) and change the focus ninja (you can also edit the season as you like to match, but try to keep some of the core elements/story beats). You can reply as a reblog (and if you rather post it yourself, please tag me! I’d love to see other ideas!) and include was much or little detail as you’d like.
If you want, you can also change the season order a bit (and write how they affect each other), or keep it in the original order!
Have fun with it! And remember to add Crystalized spoiler tags if you add that season, which you don’t have to if you haven’t seen it yet!

damn how'd the ninjago fandom die out so quickly where tf did everyone go?????????
Other Emperors AU — Ninjago
So. The beloved Ice Emperor. The corrupting potential of the Staff of Forbidden Spinjitzu + Amnesia + Vex.
Now what if the Ice Emperor came in other flavours?
That’s right, introducing the Other Emperors AU, a collection of different “What ifs” for if other people had been zapped with the staff by Aspheera!
Different Versions:
Earth Emperor / King of the Underworld = Cole
Lightning Emperor / Thunder God / Lightning Striker = Jay
Fire Emperor / Western Wildfire / Fire Maker = Kai
Energy Emperor / Lord of Energy / Luh-Lord = Lloyd
Water Empress / Commander of the Sea / Wrath of the Waves = Nya
Empress of Technology / Automated Empress / Overseer / The Technodrome = Pixal
Creation Emperor / Second Spinjitzu Master / The Creator = Wu
Not all of them are fleshed out (honestly most just have… one or two minor ideas, but I’ll gladly bounce ideas back and forth with people in Reblogs, comments, and/or asks!), but here’s what I’ve got—
Earth Emperor / King of the Underworld
- Got zapped into the Neverrealm instead and lost his memories from a concussion in the fight
- Vex finds him and the staff and convinces him to take it
- He raises/sinks the Earth to create a stone dome over the realm and make it a cavern of tunnels; some call him the King of the Underworld (Hades vibes) for it and he hates it even if he can’t remember why (haha forgotten Skulkin memories)
- Master of the Mountain mixed with ancient mythology vibes
- His hair grows out and becomes partially lava because come on that look just is so cool on him ; his armour is also formed of obsidian/onyx and crystals
- Difficult to anger (a very patient emperor that listens to his people whenever Vex doesn’t interfere) but if you do (usually on Vex’s manipulation) OH BOY you’re in for it now
- Built a dangerous labyrinth King-Minos-style complete with a stone minotaur in the centre that he sends prisoners/people Vex tricks him into thinking are enemies
- Is very fascinated by Kai’s fire (and Jay’s lightning) because the only light source in the caverns are glowing crystals formed from his powers or special regulated flint/coal-based fires
- He keeps Kai with him when the Ninja arrive and banish the rest to the labyrinth to “prove themselves” on Vex’s manipulation (possibly specifically dropping Jay in the minotaur room as a sacrifice because Jay made a menace of himself in the throne room)
- The Ninja make it through the traps because they’re all kinda Cole-themed (like one involves the Triple Tiger Sashay) and arrive back at the throne room after defeating the stone minotaur, much to Cole/Vex’s astonishment/ire respectively
- Cole realizes the Ninja are telling the truth and that Vex has been lying to him and ends up dropping the staff after reverting the Neverrealm back to its original state
Lightning Emperor / Thunder God / Lightning Strike
- Realizes Zane’s vision (yeah, Jay is the only person who knew Zane had a vision and he DISMISSED IT, hecking come on) is about to come true and shoves Zane out of the way of Aspheera’s shot
- Cracked his head on a rock falling through the portal and has zero memories <3 Should he be dead? Probably. But he’s Jay, so he survives, especially with his boosted element lashing out
- Vex finds him and is so confused over the lightning appearance but realizes he can use it
- Skybound / Lightning Ruins parallels with Jay ripping up chunks of ground and making floating magnetized islands
- Has a very ominous cult following Vex leads because its Jay, of course it would happen, its not the first time
- Is kinda revered more as a ‘godly figure’ than an emperor (Vex uses his status to make orders in Jay’s name)
- Kinda unhinged, but you can blame the staff + Vex + the concussion and blood loss
- Fascinated by Cole because he absorbs/grounds lightning fine ; also fascinated by Zane who is a walking metal lightning rod
- Constantly zapping around
Fire Emperor / Western Wildfire / Fire Maker
- Lost his powers to Aspheera, battled her with the second staff, and got his butt yeeted to the Never Realm- that’s rough, buddy
- Gets his well-deserved focus season
- He really means well and just wants to keep his people safe, but unfortunately it comes across as overly possessive and tyrannical
- Older brothers so hard that he comes across as evil/possessive and aggressive when he’s trying to be caring and protective
- Don’t have much for him because the fandom already has insanely cool Fire Emperor AUs
Energy Emperor / Lord of Energy / Luh-Lord
- So many Lord Garmadon parallels
- ONI-DRAGON LLOYD ONI-DRAGON LLOYD
- Also a surprising amount of Morro parallels about making his own destiny
- So, so traumatized and got corrupted simply for wanting to take his fate into his own hands for once
- Punts Vex out of the castle because he’s had enough of people telling him what to do
- Kinda goes back to S1 Lloyd because this kid just wants his childhood back
- Goes from “scary emperor who’s going to execute you” to “excited little kid” the second he sees his siblings
- Taking the staff back hurts because Lloyd isn’t mad, he’s just super sad and confused and pleads with them not to do it
Water Empress / Commander of the Sea / Wrath of the Waves
- The Never Realm just became the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
- All the ice and snow melts into an ocean with islands
- Nya builds a big ol’ palace that’s both above and below the water’s surface
- Seabound parallels in terms of architecture (lots of accidental Wojira foreshadowing)
- So. Much. Rage. You anger Nya, you’re done for.
- The staff + her element amplified the ocean’s whispers and she’s kinda merged with the sea but not fully, her memories are a bit scattered
- Was going to take on Vex as an advisor because he convinced her she knew him before her memories got lost/scattered, but then her memories associate him with Krux, and she kicks him onto a lone island
- Her brothers have to face the ocean to get to her. They hate it, but they do it anyway
Empress of Technology / Automated Empress / Overseer / The Technodrome
- Pixal gets to sacrifice herself for Zane
- While the staff doesn’t amplify powers for her, she still gets boosted strength, speed, smarts, etc., her processor running at 300x proficiency
- Is able to get the mech up and running— she DID build it, after all
- Still loses her memories from Vex’s interference, somewhat reverts to S3 Pixal
- Makes the entire realm “efficient” and rapidly revolutionizes technology
- Easily one of the scariest rulers because of how good she is at it
- Took Vex on as an Advisor because of his knowledge of the realm, then fired him once she was done.
“But you— you cannot FIRE me! I am your loyal, most trusted advisor—”
“And you are no longer necessary. There is more important matters to attend to.”
- It’s very difficult to dismantle her empire
Creation Emperor / Second Spinjitzu Master / The Creator
- Aspheera blasts her intended target
- Wu is sent to the Never Realm with the other staff
- The Ninja are devastated because they just lost their Sensei AGAIN just after getting him back
- Wu refuses to use the staff at first but then… well, he starts getting desperate to return. He misses his family. And his essence— creation— could be used to help the people of this realm. So he uses it once or twice, sparingly, to help the villages, to help travellers— and slowly gets more and more addicted. Why does this realm hurt the people in it? If his essence is one of creation, couldn’t he use it to… reform this realm into something more peaceful? More habitable? Remake it in his own image? Correct all the mistakes he’s made, start again, start better—
- FSM and Pilots-S2 Garmadon parallels
- His students manage to get into the Never Realm only to find it “prosperous” and “thriving”
- Bonus if there are copies of them, but the way Wu sees them— uncanny valley alert
- EXTRA bonus if there’s a fake Morro that’s based on how he was as a student / if he’d lived , and a fake Garmadon cured of venom and evil
- Breaking their Sensei out of this illusion of a perfect world really hurts
- Wu is traumatized by all his mistakes and they get acknowledged in this AU whether he wants them to be or not <3

Okay okay, I'll give more Kai content, but only because you asked so politely /j
When he first arrives in the Neverrealm, Kai wants nothing to do with the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu. He's already had bad experience with one all-powerful evil staff, thank you very much, he doesn't need a repeat
But along comes Vex, and while Kai distrusts him immediately, he's also a bit disoriented from Aspheera yoinking his powers and the journey and maybe a concussion, and Vex doesn't... seem evil at first. He's just a desperate traveler seeking a campfire to warm up at, and, well, one little use of the scroll to save this freezing guy's life is okay...
Vex tells him a woe-ing tale of harsh land of the Neverrealm, how bitter cold it is and how rare fire is. It may not be as bad as when Zane "Ice Emperor" Julien decided to be Elsa, but the Neverrealm can get cold, and Kai doesn't know this place or how well the people are adapted to it, so he thinks... he could help. He could make things better. He can bring more life-bringing fire, save so many people, use this power he has for good, prove he's not useless or weak after Aspheera drained him, he can help-
A bit of fire here, a bit of fire there, and every time Kai uses the scroll to help, he gets a bit more corrupted and twisted
Floods start happening from the melting snow, so Kai helps by evaporating the floods. Houses were damaged, so he burns down trees to use as more timber.
Little by little, Kai starts losing it. He just wants to help, he wants to protect his new family, and when that family is threatened (by the Yetis, by the Formlings, by the king, by anyone Vex says is dangerous), he fights back with the fury of a raging sun
He can't see he's actually doing more harm than help, even to the suffering villagers who aren't adapted to the warm summer heat he's bringing
Vex twists Kai's protective and caring nature until he becomes possessive, defensive, and aggressive. He wants to help so bad that he'll use any means necessary- even if that help isn't actually good
When his old family shows up, Kai stops. He runs to them, joyous, leaps off his firey throne and bounds down the steps towards them-
-but Vex stops him.
"These are more vile tricks of the Formlings, my lord. They wish to take your staff from you. They wish to make you powerless and weak so they can take your throne and hurt your people. These are not your friends. They are imposters."
Kai doesn't want to believe it. They look so real. So much like his family.
But the staff's influence is powerful, and he grips it tighter. He cannot lose his staff. He cannot lose his power. He needs it to help. He needs it to keep his kingdom alive. They need his fire. They need him.
And so he fights.
Fights long and hard, fights with fury and fire, fights with every spark in his soul
And he nearly wins.
But when he goes to strike down these imposters, he sees a look in Lloyd's eyes that he can't shake.
It reminds him of an island, of a golden staff and red eyes, of ultimate power swirling at his fingertips.
And it reminds him of a volcano, of a cage slowly sinking in the lava, of a desperate young child crying out his name
Kai drops the scroll
These aren't imposters. This isn't a trick.
The only fake is Vex
And Kai won't let himself hurt his family
Keep reading
@finn-m-corvex you brilliant funky moot you've got SO MANY GREAT QUESTIONS WHICH ARE GETTING ME TO THINK ON THIS—
Starting with the movie!Bizarros— Kaigami is the only one I had full details on when the AU was first made (they are a bean and my little blorbo that needs all the hugs), but since then I’ve been spitballing some headcanons with my friends on the others—
In normal movieverse hcs, they go as follow:
- Jayden (bizarro Blue) is a young oni that snuck over from the continent of Onitoryū (the First Realm) to the continent of Ninjago (yes we hc’d that the realms exist as continents in the movieverse before Dragons Rising existed), saw Blue, and used his image as his shapeshifting disguise because he’s bad at shapeshifting fully (the fluffy hair hides the horns, the scarf hides the tusks/fangs, the hoodie pocket hides claws, baggy clothes hides tail, etc.)
— Charcoal (Bizarro Black) is a clone made by Vangelis to get vengeance on Lilly for messing up his plans back in the day (she’s a big hero in Shintaro because she split the land away from the continent of the Cloud Kingdom and made it its own mini continent/island)
— Oread (Bizarro White) is a nindroid built by Garmadon’s enginerds (he has seagull/pelican/osprey features because Garmadon has to insert sea-creature themes into all of his designs)
So in the D:BH AU, Oread would kinda be like RK900 (except probably get rescued too), Jayden could be one of the androids at Jericho that looks up to Blue as inspiration (or perhaps Cyberlife/the Mechanic tries to build a new Blue because he supposedly was destroyed?), and Charcoal could be— uh— a vibing human? Or an android teen model based off Black in case he didn’t make through the cyborg surgery?
Yeah White and Zero (Cryptor) share the role of Connor in the sense that Zero is more the deviant-hunter side (except already deviant) and White was deviant but lost his memories and thinks Cyberlife built him, not Dr. J, and follows their orders (he does eventually come to his senses and regains deviancy, probably while encountering Echo)
Blue does not want to be the leader of the rebellion because, you know, anxiety + social anxiety, but whoops he’s an advanced model that found himself in a leadership position and has accidentally started the revolution.
And you are ABSOLUTELY right— Black would be the “North” equivalent (or Simon) because while Jaya is cute, movie!Bruise is just adorable (also I hc movie!Nya/Cyan as a lesbian as opposed to show!Nya)— Cyan would absolutly be the one to suggest violence though and if anyone hurt Blue (which technically Cliff and the Ambers already have since he got… a bit disassembled on his way to the junkyard), Black would be right there with her on letting the city burn
As for Luther- technically no, though the "Kara" story does already have the RGB sibs looking out for each other. EXCEPT I JUST HAD THE PERFECT IDEA WHILE TYPING THIS OUT- the Luther-esc figure could TOTALLY be movie!Morro (normally a tired college student looking out for his cousin Green, in this case either human or an android)
I’m really glad you like the AU :D If you’ve got more ideas or questions or comments PLEASE send them because it’s so fun to think about with a friend/mutual

YES YES YES HI YES I SAW IT AND I THOUGHT I REBLOGGED IT BUT I JUST. COMPLETELY MIND-BLANKED SO FORGIVE ME JFALJFKDLJFAL
Choosing to make Kai the android instead of Lloyd is such a cool decision??? Like so much respect for not immediately jumping to making Lloyd the Thing just because he's the most main character-coded person in Ninjago. I'm also VERY interested in Kaigami; will the other Bizarros be here as well, or just Kai's?
ZANE AS CONNOR?! YOUR HONOR I AM SCREAMING AHHHHHHH I FUCKING LOVE CONNOR ABSOLUTELY YES I AM IN LOVE
JAY AS MARKUS?!
RESPECTFULLY I AM FULLY DOWN TO CLOWN WITH THIS CONCEPT HELL FUCKING YES?! SO GOOD?! IS COLE THE NORTH EQUIVALENT IS THIS BRUISE OR IS THIS JAYA OR IS IT NEITHER DAJKSLJFSAKLJF I MUST KNOW MORE
IS THERE A LUTHER YET?!
