Zayne: Starry Nocturne

After relistening to one of Zayne's Tender Moments, I have a few observations/headcanons about our beloved Dr:

He's only serious when talking about work; even though he pretends to brush off ridiculous things you say, he really is listening and hanging on to every word.

Starry Nocturne seems to happen early on in your reconnecting, so I do not believe you and him are dating quite yet, but there is heavy interest in doing so

Zayne is the type of person to drop everything to make sure that you are well-fed and healthy - knowing that you made a list of food options for dinner warms his icy, stoic heart

He lowkey doesn't like the idea of you staying up and waiting for him. As a Hunter, he knows you work insane hours and wants you to get as much sleep as you need to function. You staying up to wait for him either in the friend-stage or in the romantic-stage worries him a bit. He knows he can go without some hours of sleep, but he doesn't want you to experience the same thing

You're literally like the only person he will listen to, no questions asked. Okay, technically, he will ask questions, but deep down he's going to say yes anyway. He just really likes playing cat-and-mouse with you. He appreciates when you can play along

Like he did in Starry Nocturne, early on in your relationship/friendship, Zayne will not be super direct about wanting to meet up with you. He wants you to be in control and for you to manage what you are comfortable with rather than feeling like he is telling you what to do. While he wants to do that in other settings - in your day-to-day, he's all about your comfort. Especially since you can't remember your past lives - he doesn't want to come off as too pushy

He is obviously super invested in Evol medecine and losing a patient to an Evol disorder is the most heartbreaking thing to happen to him at work because it always makes him think of you. He fears that one day, he will lose you on the operating table.

Okayyyy, this is by far one of my favorite dates of Zaynes. He is so gentle dom! coded and I love it

When he's worried about you bringing a gun, it isn't because he doesn't think you can handle yourself - it's that for a moment he thinks you're becoming scared of the world around you. Wanderers are obviously an ever-present threat, but he wants you to feel safe, whether or not he is around

Finding out you just brought your fluffy lamb hat was a huge relief for him (and adorable in his eyes)

You're pretty much the only person that he would be attracted to in something as cute and fluffy. Usually, he would think that it's a bit childish, but it fits you perfectly

He's such an encourager!

OMG this man...let me tell you - if he's that encouraging in public when you're pretty bad at something...can you imagine how much better he'd be with something you are good at?

He steals your hat as a part of his game. He wants to poke and prod at you to get a reaction. If he actually thinks you're annoyed or upset, he'll stop. He only means it lightheartedly

Going snowboarding is farther into your friendship, hence his willingness to help you, but he is definitely starting to come to terms with the fact that he wants your relationship to be more

Why else would he cut your steak for you? Idk if he's necessarily a daddy!dom, but I could see him with some sort of little or just a partner he calls baby

Zayne is the type of romantic that wants your life to be as easy as possible - you may see these things and grand gestures, but to Zayne, these are second nature

He loves you. He wants to take care of you. He feels no obligation to do so, only an overhwhelmingly happy desire to

I read somewhere that Zayne's tie is a metaphor for his composure (I really want to try to find the post again, if anyone knows please help, I want to give this absolute genius credit) and him loosening it is him letting loose, yes, but he's also putting away his facade some.

He wants your relationship to be an honest one, platonic or romantic, and he wants to be better and revealing parts of himself

He's a doctor, so he really doesn't like seeing anyone hurt, but when it's you, someone he cares about? That's gut-wrenching for him

your bruise definitely wasn't that bad, but it made him think of all the worst injuries you've had and could have due to being a Hunter, him icing it was for your comfort, but also his ease of mind

He wants to be your caretaker - not in the sense that you can't take care of yourself (he's very proud of you for being able to), but Zayne is the type of person that doesn't feel he is doing the most he can if he isn't needed

With all the lives he has lived and the tragedies he has seen you go through in your lives, he wants to be a caretaker so that he can feel like it is helping to change your fate
