"What are you wearing."

The Corinthian's voice echoed through the throne room with an unusual level of vitriol, even for him. Dream looked up from his book—a collection of daydreams from an Indonesian farmer during the year of 1934—to see Lucienne standing at the bottom of the steps.

She looked…different.

"It's Halloween," she responded to The Corinthian evenly, her lips twitching slightly at the words. "I am wearing my costume."

Her costume consisted of tan slacks, a white button-up, cream blazer, and dark, round glasses. The look was completed by a short, ill-fitting blonde wig.

"You look stupid," The Corinthian snapped.

At that, Lucienne didn't bother to stifle her smile. "Of course I do," she drawled. "I am dressed as you." She slipped the glasses down her nose to reveal that tiny plastic teeth had been sloppily applied above and below her lash lines, framing her eyes.

The Corinthian didn't move or snap again, leaving his response to a menacing glare, but Dream could see a slight flush appear on his cheekbones and ears. His hand had curled around the hilt of his dagger in threat.

Lucienne ignored him, smile never leaving her face as she slipped her hand inside her blazer and pulled a matching dagger from the hidden harness. She met The Corinthian's gaze and with an impressive ease, twirled the dagger around her fingers in the same manner The Corinthian had been known to.

Dream suppressed a smile.

"I think you look lovely," Dream told her, also ignoring The Corinthian as an angry snarl started rumbling in the nightmare's chest. "Pale colors become you."

"Thank you, my lord." Lucienne slipped the dagger back into its harness. "Did you have a moment to discuss the plans for the new spire on the southeast corner of the palace?"

Dream placed the book down on the stone step he was sitting on and stood up. "Of course," he murmured graciously. "I always have time for my favorite nightmare."

The snarling came to an abrupt stop.

Dream brushed his hand against The Corinthian's shoulder as he passed him down the stairs, taking a moment for a glance at him. He was no longer glaring at Lucienne and was instead staring down the dagger, twiddling it restlessly in his hands.

The red flush had traveled to the back of his neck. Dream did not think, this time, it was from anger.

Dream's smile grew, satisfied, and he followed Lucienne from the throne room.

why did no one tell me the sandman was this gay? I would’ve watched it sooner if I’d known.

If I had a dollar for every time a woc called Dream out in the show, I would have four dollars which isn’t a lot but its funny that it happened four times and this man still didn’t catch on until later.

Okay hear me out Dream and Hob have been like co-existing for a while and there is a delegation from another universe/dimension that they have to really impress. Except Dream has picked up the habit of walking around in his night gown (you know the one). And he accidently runs into the delegation and they assume he is the consort and not the king. Cue hijinks of Hob having to play King of the Dreaming and Dream standing in the background being like “What is that voice? Why are u brooding so much? I’m not that emotional?!” And you know Mathew and Lucienne are in the background trying not to just die of laughing. Also for some reason I really like the idea of Hob just doting on his “Queen” 24/7.

Ever since I saw the scene in the Sandman when Dream escapes Burgess and appears in the Dreaming I have never known peace. Lucienne is just so overjoyed to see him, and Dream is so overjoyed to see her, and it's such a tender moment where they smile at each other. It did an excellent job at demonstrating their relationship. Just an incredibly poignant reunion where you can see how much these two characters love each other.

(When she says “you’re home”?? It was just such a lovely thing to see Dream return to someone who he trusts and who cares for him)

Whatever your opinions are on Dream’s relationship to touch and how it might manifest...here Lucienne takes his hand, cradles it so gently, and he’s so happy? I don't think anyone else is ever allowed that close but Calliope? (Maybe Death because they walk quite close, obviously comfortable which each other, and she does take his arm at times. There's also that moment when she leans on him to take off her shoes? but like...affection given through the guise of practicality). Lucienne shows no hesitance, doesn't disguise it, she doesn't seem to think twice about taking his hand.

Unless I'm forgetting something major (which yeah I might have oops) Lucienne is the only one to touch Dream this way. And I think her and Calliope are the only skin on skin moments of touch.

Anyway, I just adore that scene! The love they have for each other, the care and respect, is just so precious to me. I am also forever haunted by how Lucienne was the first to touch Dream in one hundred years.

Someone’s definitely done this before
