A Guide To Falling In Love With A Traitor While Being A Mafia Leader
A Guide To Falling In Love With A Traitor While Being A Mafia Leader

Pairing: afab! Mafia leader! Reader x Yang Jeongin ft. slight Bang Chan x Reader

Word count: --

Genre: Mafia au, romance

Warnings: General criminal activities (but even then it's not much), mentions of knives

Summary: -- (I mean it's in the title)

Yang Jeongin. Science prodigy. Passed high school at age 10 and graduated at 14. Could be seen in newspapers and tv shows in those 4 years freuqently. Winning international debates against some of the greatest minds arguably. And then, missing. One day at 15. Out of nowhere. The police carried out the investigation for 5 years until they had to drop it due to lack of evidence and progress. How he got into this fucked up underground world from a world of glory and fame that awaited him up there, no one knows. He was a genius. Someone you didn't see often in the field of work you're in.

You see him working with test tubes and vials containing chemicals of different colours. The room itself is pretty dark with the only source of light being a small bulb that hangs above his head. You can even see some chemicals glowing. He's wearing transparent safety googles, a pair of expensive industrial ear muffs, black gloves and of course, his signature white lab coat. He looks concentrated on the task which was apparently mixing chemicals here and there. He suddenly stops before mixing two chemicals he had been working on since you came here and puts the tubes in the holder. Removing his muffs and ruffling his dark hair that had gotten messy due to them. And then you finally here his voice.

"Arsenic trioxide, 10ml to your right." He says in a voice that's much colder than even Chan's and gestures towards your right with his eyes. You see on your right and see a small vial with an injection on a pink vinyl player of all things.

"Right. Thanks." You reply taking both of the things and putting them in your dress pockets. When you don't leave and just stare at him expectantly, he raises his eyebrows in a silent 'what'.

"Can you get out now? I've got work to do."

"And you think I don't? I'm literally a-" he cuts you off, quite rudely at that.

"Do I look like I give a fuck, sweetheart?"

CHAPTER 1: AURORA

SUGAR AND SIN | JK

Aurora had two problems tonight.

Her frayed nerves that showed no sign of settling down any time soon, and the blood on the once-pristine white tiles of her bakery floor, which were sometimes grazed with flour and all that.

The latter and former both caused by a group of tall and dark figures of men that barged inside the dim lighted interior of her bakery that she was just about to pack up like they were out to hunt. From what she could see from the corner of the counter she was hiding behind and trying to squeeze herself further away into the darkness, the prey in question was another stumbling man who fell his way before them, backing on his palms as he slid on the floor, a messy trail of blood following right after him as the group of men loomed forward with a errie calmness. She visibly winced at that before taking advantage of the soft darkness and lifting her gaze up and instantly retreating back.

Gods, she had never regretted turning down Lia's offer to drop her home more than she did now. But no, she wanted to finish baking one last batch, just to get ahead for tomorrow.

Now she was hiding from men who looked like they made up the gateway of hell.

Clad up in all black with their forms blended into the shadows, save for the luminosity of moon light spilling through the window. They could’ve been anyone, anyone except the customers who regularly graced her small bakery. Definitely not the kind who ordered pastries.

She should have been afraid for her life. She was, in part. But another part of her was horrified at the blood—so much blood—coating the clean floor where she spent her days baking treats. A morbid thought crossed her mind: it was going to take forever to scrub that out.

She tried to shake off the absurdity of the thought and focused on the bigger issue that screamed that she was going to be the next one on their hit list. She doubted her capability to hide here, to hide her frantic heartbeat from all of them because it was all she could hear, until that changed too like her mundane nights.

"Done running?" A deep gravelly voice echoed louder than her heartbeat in the small space that was her bakery, followed with clear thumps of footsteps against the floor. And that's when her eyes took in the sight of a man who was probably what waited you inside that gateway.

He was wearing black too, of course, but somehow he stood out, and when he walked further, the other men looked nothing but mere shadows surrounding this larger unexplainable force.

"It was getting really fun." He drawled as if murder was a game, and the man cowering on the floor was just another player who had lost. It took all her might not to dig a hole somewhere here and hide further. It seemed to have the same effect on the cowering and trembling man on the floor as well that whimpered pleads for mercy which were unheard by lucifer himself and her as well because the sound of conflict in her head was louder.

She felt guilty and all kinds of words related to it because she was a present presence here, watching a man on the verge of getting killed in her property, doing nothing. She tried to fumble for her phone in the pocket of her apron as quietly as she could, but to her unfortune, it was on the far end of the countertop - a distance that felt like a mile now. She didn’t dare move, and the moral lecture she had rehearsed in her head earlier evaporated when she heard the sound of a gun clicking as well as her will scattering.

Her wide eyes that were going anywhere but the scene unfolding in front of her stopped at two inky voids like black ink splashed across a page, who found her before she could and was staring straight at her, penetrating through her very being as he too was crouching down on the floor, making a surge of panic run through her as the idea of her being seen settled in.

He saw her.

Her heart stopped.

Yet when she saw him stay blank and unamused as ever, even when he caught on an unexpected presence, she chose to second thought her plan to scream and run. Or she was forced to do so because his eyes had her frozen and stiff, unable to breathe.

Her heartbeat even came to a pause if that was possible, and then before she knew it was resuming that violent pace when she saw his lips moving.

"Close your eyes."

Despite the pounding in her heart, she caught the words.

Yet she didn't obey, and that was the second time she felt regret flooding in the night when a quick click of the bullet leaving his cocked gun echoed around. The relief she felt for one moment when she wasn't on the receiving end of his chilling gaze washed away the moment the prey of a guy's brain spilled on the floor.

Blood. Blood. Blood. That was all in her line of sight as the man collapsed dead on the floor. Blood. Pooling around him. Blood. Everywhere.

Aurora felt her throat work, her stomach twisted, a nauseous feeling overtaking her before she gathered whatever self preservation was left in her and forced her palm tightly against her mouth to not let out the sound of horror that was bubbling. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run. But all she could do was press her back harder against the counter, eyes glued to the body now lying lifeless on the bakery floor.

Her eyes, unblinking, slid up to the man who had penetrated the life out of a once alive being. The man stood over the corpse, expression unreadable. The gun hung loosely in his gloved hand, as though the life he had just taken was of no consequence to him. As if this was routine.

It didn't suprise her but horrified her further.

Would she be the next on the floor with life draining out of her as well as her blood, begging for his non existing mercy?

Her answer was his eyes stopping at her quivering and crouched figure again from the corner.  Her vision had blurred over the time he was turned toward her after barking orders at his men—orders she couldn’t hear over the deafening roar of her heartbeat. She barely registered the sound of footsteps until they were close—too close.

And then, darkness.

With a last prayer to gods above, her body shut out with the last thing she saw before her eyes blacked out, being the devil coming for her.

CHAPTER 3: AURORA

SUGAR AND SIN | JK

He was here.

In her goddamn living room, sitting on her couch like he owned the place.

The realization hit her slowly, like the creeping cold of winter sneaking under the door. She hadn’t heard him come in. She hadn’t seen him approach. But there he was, every inch of him radiating danger.

He was here to fulfill the promise of something dangerous.

He was here for her.

She didn't need to look through her memories of last night to recognize him. The inky voids that were placed where eyes normally are were proof enough, and so was the horrifying calmness he carried with himself surrounding the small space of her apartment.

Her lips parted, her breath shortened and her unblinking eyes went all over him, his gloved hands that were skilled for taking lives-she was sure of it- resting flatly on his broad, muscled thigh clothed with the black of his pants, his shirt of a softer fabric soft yet unyielding, strained against the hard planes of his chest. The tailored suit jacket stretched over biceps that seemed too solid, too real, for this moment to be anything but a nightmare and there was the face she hadn't properly grasped in the chaos of last night, now all sharp lines, cool beauty, and unsettling stillness.

Maybe the devil wasn't a short red man with thorns and tail at all. Maybe he wore tailored suits and silver piercings.

"Inhale. And sit down."

His voice- a calm authority, snapped her out of her jumbled thoughts. She wasn't sure how much she could take of being the sole recipient of her attention.

"What.. H-How did you-you get in?" She managed, not bothering to cringe at how small and powerless she sounded in her own home.

"Sit down." It was an order this time considering how his bored face hardened and his tone shifted. "We have lots to talk about." His gloved finger flexed briefly over the gun holstered at his side.

That gesture alone was enough for her to obey before her mind could catch up and reluctantly sit across him while trying her best not to display how wobbly her knees were getting. Even as she sat across from him, every fiber of her being told her to flee. But something in his stillness kept her rooted to the spot.

"Answer me now. How-how did you get in?" she asked again, though as much as she tried to hide it, there was a tremor in her voice.

"I don't respond well to questions phrased like that. Try again."

Her frustration bubbled up, cutting through the haze of fear. "Are you kidding me-" his fingers flexed against the barrel of his gun again in response, making her narrow her eyes at him.

"You're here to kill me too, aren't you?Because I saw what you did. I saw you murder that innocent man." She was surprised at how collected she sounded.

He leaned back, slow and deliberate, his gaze heavy on her as he scoffed under his breath. "If I wanted to kill you, I could have done that there and then. Just another body for my men to dispose of." And there went that collected front of her down the drain. But his expression remained unchanged, bored almost, as if this entire exchange was nothing more than a chore to him.

"But I didn't. And if it helps, the innocent man was not as innocent as you naively assumed." His voice was colder, with a mocking tilt to it.

She bit the inside of her cheek, fighting the wave of unease rising inside her. "So? What are you, the law?"

"My word is. And he went against it." He said simply.

Her lips parted again in an act of disbelief. There was something so twisted about this man. And she had a feeling that didn't stop only at him being a murderer.

"T-That is not going to stop me from reporting you to the police and neither will you." She said with a determined look even though her actions were hesistant when she slowly and carefully rose up from her spot.

And he clearly saw right through it. "Need a drive there?" He leaned forward, his presence suddenly much heavier as he spoke out with an amused tilt of his head.

This was the face of a man who knew he won't be punished for his crime. This was the face of a man who knew that, that was all beneath him. Just who the hell was this man?

"What is wrong with you?" She conferred the answer was: Everything.

"Why are you doing this? Why did you do any-any of that?" There was a frustration in her voice now that caused him to rise up from the couch as well. And she could swear he was tenfold more intimidating now that he was displaying the giant of a height he had, almost causing her to flinch.

"I don't owe you an explanation for my actions while you do owe me something for meddling in my business." He replied, the shadows deepening on his face

"Meddling in your business? You're the one who broke into my bakery.." and now in my apartment. "And made it your place of crime."

"Your little bakery will be nothing but ashes on the ground if you don't stop talking back and resisting to my word." He eyes flashed with irration as he spoke out with a harshness, taking a step closer to her but still maintaining a distance he looked distasteful to cross.

While all she could do was stay frozen in her spot with her hands curling in ball of fists by her side as his eyes told her to even though the audacity of this man to threaten the place she made a living from raged her to no end.

"Now back to what's important." He said, releasing a quiet breath.

"That being your silence that you owe me. You'll not speak about anything you saw with anyone. And I'm just saving you from the embarrassment when I say that you drop the police bullshit."

She swallowed a hard lump down her throat, not liking how he stared at her, how his words spit out like venom. Of course, she felt a surge of anger at how he was ordering her around, but it was tempered by fear at last. "I-I can't just forget what I saw.."

He cocked an eyebrow at her words. "But you will. Or I'll have to resort to unpleasant ways to make you forget. Would you want that?"

She instantly shook her head at that. She couldn't digest how this man had her so pathetic at his non-existent mercy. It was a pill she had to swallow, of course, but that didn't mean she was gonna do it without an attempt to choke it out.

Her mind raced. The face of an familiar old man with a nasty grin flashed in front of her. Mr. Choi had been tightening the noose around her neck for months. The bills have been piling up, and if she didn't speak up now, maybe she would have to return back home. This could be her only chance. Yet the rational part of still considered the insanity of bargaining with a man who just threatened her life.

She swallowed hard. It's a terrible idea. A dangerous gamble.

But when has she ever listened to the annoying rational part of her head?

"I- I want something in return for my silence." She said with a newfound determination, her chin tipped up. "My bakery's landlord... Mr. Choi... he’s been extorting me for months. If you want my silence, I need your help." Even with the clarity in her demand, she couldn't help but feel like it was as if she was begging. The pulse racing with fear convinced her that she was begging.

Gods, what is wrong with me?

That seemed to twist something in him as he stepped closer with a sinister calmness. "You think you're in a position to make demands to me?" His voice was laced with a malicious intent, making her do everything in her power to not squirm in her spot as he towered above her.

Yet she stood her ground even if the fear threatened to overwhelm her. "It's only fair that I get something in return." She said with a surprisingly steady voice, trying her best to hide the desperation that was eager to be out.

Please, let this work. Please don’t let this end with my body laying in my own blood.

A muscle of his jaw ticked. "Being bold now, are we?" he said. "But let me make one thing clear: you're not in a position to make demands. You're in a position to be grateful, I'm not killing you right now."

He paused, his eyes glinting with intensity and some sort of interest. "However... I'll consider your request. Not because I owe you anything, but because it amuses me to do so. And maybe you'll prove useful enough to warrant a little... leeway."

He turned to leave, then looked back over his shoulder. "Until next time, baker girl."

And he was gone, leaving her heart thumping and her world shaky.

CHAPTER 4-JUNGKOOK

SUGAR AND SIN | JK

The world was divided into two: those who feared the shadows and those who became them. Jeon Jungkook had long since chosen his side.

In the dark and haze, his name slithered like a serpent, coiling itself around its prey, squeezing until the last breath was crushed out with the whispers of "Jeon Jungkook didn’t needed a excuse."

No one dared to squirm against his word and grip, only pestered and tested his non-existence patience with pleads for mercy—a concept he had long since buried in a forgotten  land with the naive child that he had broken out of.

But of course, every theory seemed to have its exception. And Jungkook lived for exceptions.

He especially enjoyed when the object of his thinning patience struggled, when they ran, thinking they could escape him.

It gave him a thrill of hunt. A thrill he has based his life on. A thrill that reminded him of why he lived the way he did. Power wasn’t something handed over—it was hunted, taken by force, hoarded in the shadows where he thrived, where he once learned to beg for it.

At least, that’s what he told himself.

And when the hunger for that power surfaced, he indulged in it timely. That Thursday night was the choice for one of those times when he'd step out of the professionally cold walls of his office totake the hunt outside, letting the blackness bleed into places that weren't considered the part of the shadows. That wasn't a constriction for him. Nothing was, and if anything, the dead night served the mood, not a curtain.

The times were of his choosing, and so was the prey- a middle-aged man with homely features. They seemed to do a good job at hiding the renegade of a bastard that oh so foolishly thought that greed was his to have and screwed up with the money- his money- from the arms trade by having the nerve to dip into trafficking—without permission. That bastard thought he could crawl into Jungkook’s territory, and Jungkook would let him walk free.

Unfortunately for him, the snake was a slithery, undulated thing, and Jeon Jungkook was no different than that. Just the bite was a lot more lethal when provoked.

And oh was he provoked, so very into the act as his prey tried to hide, run and break free from the shadow that loomed behind him, that he didn't notice when they broke into a uncharted territory. It was dimmed and shadowed- that was all the mattered until a certain pair of eyes that could almost be mistaken for a deer's with how wide and enlarged they were with fear met his from a corner, trying to hide yet stayed frozen.

He could see the spooked look in them-the one he was not entirely foreign with- even in the dim lightening. The acceptance a little deer has when a truck with blinding lights and ignorance comes crashing its way to serve its end.

It had the bored look in his eyes get replaced with an uncertainty. It surprised him. He was almost never uncertain with a gun in his hand and lust for blood rushing through his veins. But as the man he was hunting fell to his knees, choking out pitiful pleas, Jungkook didn’t move to shoot. His eyes kept shifting back to her.

He did not expect that. He had not expected a hindrance, a potential witness to him blowing this cowering man's brains on the floor.

Yet he didn't get rid of the hiding little deer the moment he was done setting himself free from the tiresome pleads the annoying bastard was supplying his way. He didn't get rid of her even when he knew that those eyes wide with fear saw everything, not even when she passed out before he could reach her, giving him a leverage to silence her without the inconvenience of her begging for her life and all that.He could have. He should have. It would’ve been easy.

But something stopped him.

And that irritated him more than anything.

Instead he snapped two fingers to have information on her before having his men dropped her off to her whatever cheap excuse of apartment she lived in, finding out that this deer eyed woman named Aurora Beckett runs this place which he had painted red, is supposedly a bakery.

Insignificant, really.

He convinced himself later that he didn't need to waste a precious bullet on a nobody who he could hush with some threats and a glare.

But something about her had kept him from pulling the trigger, and that gnawed at him more than it should have.

Genuinely, what the fuck was I thinking?

This was beneath him.

He had his infamous scowl on his face as he trudged on the creaky stairs, the fluorescent lights overhead casting an unforgiving glare on the threadbare carpet.

As he walked into the dingy office of Choi Sangwoo after telling Hyunsoo- his right hand man to stand on guard beside the door, the distaste in his chest gnawed at him. The air was stale, thick with the smell of cheap tobacco and desperation. This wasn't the kind of business he was accustomed to-dealing with insignificant men like choi over petty real estate. But here he was, all because of a request from a woman who shouldn't have been his fucking concern.

Sangwoo looked up, his eyes bulging with fear the moment he recognized him- it was almost impossible that unfair wanna-be businessmen like him didn't hear the hint of his name around the very air of greed they breathed. And It was the same every time: fear, groveling, then obedience. Normally, it was satisfying. Today, it felt like a waste of time.

"Mr. Jeon... I-I wasn't expecting you," he stuttered, his hands fumbling to hide the cash on his desk as if that would somehow change what was coming.

He didn't bother with pleasantries. Never did. "That's because you're a fool, choi. Only a fool tries to squeeze more than what he's worth."

He saw the beads of sweat forming on his balding head, his fingers trembling as he reached for a handkerchief to wipe them away. It was almost pitiful. Almost.

"I'm not sure I understand, sir," he blubbered, though the fear in his eyes told the mafia boss that he understood perfectly.

Jungkook stepped forward until he was almost looming over his desk, his gloved hand leisurely tucked in his pocket, his face giving away annoyance and boredom both.

"Aurora Beckett. The bakery."

His face paled at the mention of a certain brunette. "It's just business, Mr. Jeon. I didn't-"

"And you're doing it poorly." He cut him off, my voice heavy with disdain.

"I-I can explain--"

"Don't waste my time," Jungkook snapped, tossing the deed transfer onto his desk. "Sign it. Now."

His eyes widened as he read the document, the fear palpable, "This... this is a deed transfer. You're buying the land?" and so was the confusion at seeing the man who could basically buy him twice (or maybe thrice), do petty business with him rather.

He nodded curtly, the irritation simmering just beneath the surface. "For a fraction of what it's worth. And you're going to take it, because you're in no position to do otherwise."

Sangwoo's hand shook as he picked up the pen, eventually signing it. Well, atleast he could brag about this whole thing of Jeon Jungkook making a deal with him in his cheap circle of friends with cheap wine, while leaving the part where he almost shit his pants the whole conversation.

The landlord finished, handing the deed back to him with a shaky hand. He snatched it from him, folding it neatly and slipping it back into his suit jacket.

"Try getting too smart again, and I won't be handling this as business." He spat out before leaving the office, the weight of his presence still weighting the place.

Even after he left the place, he couldn't help but feel a disbelief over his own actions. He had allowed himself to be pulled into something small, something that shouldn't matter. He wasn't supposed to be doing favors for a woman in return for the silence he wants from her when he could silence her for life instead. But here he was, making deals on her behalf, and for what?

Too engrossed in his thoughts, he didn't notice when the man walking behind him stepped forward to open the car door for him.

Nodding in acknowledgment, he slid in the back seat. Hyunsoo followed right after to settle in the driver's seat like he usually did and ignited the engine to life.

Hyunsoo drove in silence, as he always did, his focus sharp and unwavering. He wasn't the type to pry, but he knew his boss well-too well. So, when he finally spoke, his voice was measured, careful.

"If you don't mind me asking, boss... why the interest in this particular property?" His tone was cautious, respectful, but the question still grated on the mafiaso's nerves.

"It's just business," He replied, the words flat and unconvincing even to his own ears, his eyes fixed on the window.

"This place, it's not exactly high-value," he said slowly, almost as if he was thinking out loud. "And the bakery... it doesn't seem like your usual type of investment."

This wasn't his usual type of investment because it wasn't an investment at all. It was a whim.

A whim he decided he was gonna make worth his while.

"I have grown a sweet tooth." He said, bitterly enough for Hyunsoo to understand he should better keep his mouth shut.

The rest of the ride was Jungkook gazing outside at the blur of neon signs and passing cars, trying to shove the millions things that never seemed to stop overwhelming his head.

Yet one thing was clearer than the rest: Aurora Beckett was far from finished with me. And whether she realized it or not, I was far from finished with her.

CHAPTER 5: AURORA

SUGAR AND SIN | JK

The scent of freshly baked bread filled the air, warm and comforting, as the brunette pulled the last loaf from the oven. The sun had started to peek over the horizon, casting a soft glow through the windows of the bakery, more than sign enough that Sunrise sweets had started its opening hours.

Normally, the early morning routine would be enough to soothe Aurora's nerves, but today, even the the rich and robust aroma filling the air wasn't enough to still the oh so exhausting conflict of thoughts in her head. Wiping her hands on her pink apron that read - Feeling downie? Eat a brownie - she looked over at lia, her back turned to her, displaying her blond hair that met with silver near the ends tucked in a bun as she arranged pastries in the display case.

Lia had been her rock, her best friend and the person who let her use a shoulder to lean on after a rough day or a night soaked in alcohol since they were both were six and awkward, and from that day they had found it embarrassingly hard to let go of each other's company. Lia following her to this city and supporting a hand around in the bakery while she also engaged in modeling gigs to chase her dream of being one was proof enough.

It was ridiculous to the brunette how she hadn't become one already with her charming face all across the big hoardings and displays.

"You done with the bread?" She asked, not turning to her yet.

"Uh- yeah.. yeah. I'm done. I'm done with the almond croissants, too. Mrs. Lee will be in any minute, and you know how she gets if they're not ready," Aurora replied, the chuckle leaving her mouth sounding forced rather than something that came easy to her, making the blonde head turn to face her.

There was that anxiety and worry in her eyes that ticked Aurora. She had been giving her that look a lot lately even after Aurora's countless attempts at brushing it off ever since the night lia dropped by for dinner- the night before the hellish one.

It made her feel guilty. There used to be no secrets between them, but then again, she'd rather have that than drag her to this mess.

"Rory, Mrs Lee is gone on a vacation." Lia said carefully and calmly. A flush of embarrassment crept up on the brunettes cheeks at that. "Oh.." Her mouth parted before she covered it up with another chuckle. "Must have slipped out of my stupid head." She said, her fist hitting her head in a dramatic mannerism, and oh, she could gag at that.

"Things are slipping out of your head a lot more than what I consider normal. Is everything really okay?" She asked for what seemed like the 80th time ever since that day. Did she suck so bad at acting?

"Nothing to worry about! Just the usual stuff, you know? Rent, bills, keeping this place running smoothly." she tried to sound nonchalant, pushing the nightmarish memories away.

Lia didn't look entirely convinced. Yet her response was a soft hum and not another inquiry of her well being.

She sighed internally at that but before she could turn back to her croissants, a soft and curious voice spoke again. "Speaking of bills, how much more till we save up enough to shut that slimy's bastard's mouth up?" She didn't miss how her tone turned irritated at last.

"You've already got so much on your plate. You don't need to worry about saving up above all that." She sighed. Well, modeling did took a sweet amount of money and Aurora was content in making a deal with the devil than be a speed breaker in her best friend's path to her dream.

Lia's expression softened, but the worry didn't leave her eyes. "I just don't want you to carry this burden alone, Aurora. Especially not when it's a impossibly big one."

"Oh, lia." She breathed, crossing the distance between them and taking her hand in hers to squeeze it in affirmation. "You know I appreciate your concern. I really do." A thought crossed her mind- I want to tell her everything. Everything about the reckless deal she had made with a man far more dangerous than Mr Choi.

Instead, she swallowed the truth, hoping that her reassurances would be enough. "I've been exploring some options," she said, choosing her words carefully. "We might not have to worry about that creep for much longer." I will just have to worry about a blood thirsty demon.

Lia looked at her with suprise flickering in her eyes. "Really? What kind of options?"

Before she could think of another cover-up, the bell above the door chimed. She thanked the gods above for the interruption before scurrying away to attend the person behind the counter.

୨୧

The sky had darkened to a deep indigo, and the city lights were illuminating the streets with a faint glow. After a long day of dealing with all kind of sugary goods and making sure lia wasn't wary of when she'd sometimes zone out, her eyes lingering a little too long at the spot she saw a man's brains spill out, Aurora was making her way to her apartment.

Even the familiarity of the space she lived in was replaced by a chilling unease since the most unexpected series of events played out in the places she seeked comfort in the most.

So she opted for the next best thing.

"Aurora!" A middle-aged woman with comforting features spoke with a voice as warm and cheerful as ever, her eyes lighting up when she saw the younger verison of her behind the screen. "There's my girl!"

"Hi, mumma!" She greeted as she held the phone up to her face while sitting on the couch while holding a cup of hot cocoa in another, the tension in her shoulders easing a bit.

Before the older woman could start to go on and on asking about her daughter's well-being, another familiar face appeared in the frame. "Rory-bug!" Her father's face practically invaded all of the space on the screen as he pushed in with a grin before squinting slightly as he leaned back.

She couldn't help but laugh at his struggle with technology. "Papa!"

"How's the most handsome man in the world doing?" He grinned again at that. Daniel Beckett was a reserved man with a tough front he had made up in all the years he had served in the police yet was the softest around his two most favorite girls.

"Not good since my rory bug is nine thousand, six hundred kilo meters away from me." He said with a frown, making the woman beside him and in front of him break into a laugh again. He was extra like that.

"Your old man can be dramatic.." Her mother side eyed her husband, who only kissed her head in response, and Aurora regained her faith in unconditional love. She always did when she saw her parents together. They were a crucial reason why she had grown to be a hopeless romantic.

"But he's right. We miss you a lot, baby. How's everything going at the bakery?" She tried not to tense up at the mention of her bakery and forced her smile to keep in place. "Yeah, everything's going well. It's been busy, but in a good way."

Her mother's eyes narrowed slightly, the way they always did when she sensed something was off but softened again. "Well, that's nice to hear that you've been busy, but just don't push yourself too hard, rory. You've always had a tendency to take on more than you can handle."

"Your mom's right," the man beside her chimed in, his voice full of fatherly concern. "If things get too much, you know you can always come home for a bit. Take a break." There did not go a conversation with her father where he didn't tried convincing her to come back home at least once.

"I know, Papa. But I've got it under control," she assured them, hoping she sounded more confident than she felt. "That's my girl." Her father encouraged, making her feel lighter.

While her mother gave her a gentle smile, the kind that always made everything seem a little better. "We just worry about you, baby. It's not easy being so far away, not being able to help you when you need it."

"I know, Mom. I miss you both so much," she admitted, her voice almost giving away the vulnerable emotions that had been overwhelming her. But she knew better than that, one hint of her in distress, and they both would be having a crisis of their own.

"We miss you too, Aurora," Daniel said. "But we're proud of you, you know that? You're doing something amazing with that bakery." Her eyes crinkled up. "Thanks, Papa."

"How's lia doing, rory? How's it going with her modeling? Aunt Ruby always seems to worry about you both out there." She was grateful for the change of topic her mother brought.

"She's doing well, mumma. Modeling agencies are soon gonna be lining up at her feet, so tell Aunt Ruby there's nothing to worry about." No wonder, lia is always exploiting her blood pressure. "We're both big girls." She added with her chin slightly tipping up, earning a laugh from her parents.

From there, she steered the conversation towards more mundane topics- Papa's most recent attempt at tinkering with that old car of his that he has been calling classic for the last twenty years, Mumma's gardening, their family dog's Pluto's health- things that connected her to the life she had left behind. Things that made her feel distant from the chaos that had been her life for the past few days.

But she was once again pulled back from the comfort of it all. This time, it was from a ring on her door.

"There's someone on the door.." She trailed on, making a movement to stand up and go attend the person behind. "I will have to go now, but I will talk to you guys later. Love you, mumma. Love you, Papa." She ended, finally turning to them with a departuring smile that was met with a load of "I love yous" and flying kisses sent across her way before the call ended.

Setting down her phone, she neared the door, but before she could twist the knob open, a crisp white envelope fell from the sharp, slit like opening at the bottom.

A frown twisted on her features, and she bent down to pick up the envelope.

Carefully pulling away the seal, she pulled out a single piece of paper that was mostly blank if not for the small, bold text written across the middle that read.

"Expect me soon."

CHAPTER 6: AURORA

SUGAR AND SIN | JK

Aurora wasn’t a prophet, but for the past few days, she had this unsettling hunch that the organ pumping in her chest would be the thing to take her down—maybe not by a heart attack, but something close enough.

Grim fact: Her family had no history of heart issues.

Normally, she didn't let anything or anyone burrow deep enough into her thoughts to keep her awake at 2 a.m., contemplating her life choices. Especially not with a knife stashed under her pillow, just in case those choices went south. Well, except maybe that one time when she decided to move away from home and open her own bakery. Her friends loved to call her reckless—more than she'd like to admit. It was probably the same reason her dad hovered over her, always a little too protective.

She'd be lying if she said her reckless streak hadn't played a starring role in the chaos of her life.

Now, even as the day in the bakery stretched onto a busy one- the kind she thrived on- she couldn't help thinking about the sudden absence of a certain man who carried bad mojo with him like a handbag and the letter she received days ago and safe to say, there wasn't much doubt about the sender. She should be glad, of course, that he isn't here to remind her how grateful she should be that there's not a bullet in her brain, but she was rather anxious after the envelope she received which was honestly a childish trick to pull on her neurons in her opinion.

And then there was her demand that was a further invitation for him to dwell more in her life, and she hadn't been able to think of that in the moment. So that only left her waiting and.. questioning.

Would he really help her out with the Mr Choi situation? Or was she the most naive person to think he was being genuine in his amusement and not sarcastic?

She sighed heavily like a old aged woman who had been through both wars before trying to ground herself back in the normalcy of the action of rearranging the trays of pastries that didn't sell and was gonna go up for donation in the display case, while lia checked the stock back in the kitchen.

It was a simple monotonous moment until it was not. The bell above the door chimed, causing Aurora to wonder since not many people visited in the closing hours. Yet the words came out almost automatically. "Welcome to Sunrise sweets!" Her figure still crouched down as she worked on the display.

The usual sounds of greetings and orders didn’t follow. Instead, there was a heavy, palpable silence with an energy that felt weirdly familiar. The kind that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

As she slowly straightened up to attend the odd customer, the sight in front of her had her wanting to hide back again because there stood her newest nightmare manifested in a tailored pinstripe suit that accumulated his broad and tall figure in a way that left her wondering how dild he even got through the door.

The words in that letter flashed the next thing in her mind. She should have known for him not to be the one who spewed empty threats...or promises.

For a moment, she forgot the basics to breathe as his gaze collided with hers.

He had been here before, yet that time had been a chilling dark night but now as the different colors of orange blending with blue from the sun going down the horizon illuminated the space and him, she realized how out of place he looked. She had that realization when he was sprawled across her couch, too. Just now, she had another one that it didn't matter what kind of room he was standing in. His presence will get anyone and everyone present in it to cower.

As if sensing the tension filling the air, lia peeked from the back, catching his attention for a millisecond, but that was enough to take her aback as well.

Aurora could feel her friend's confused eyes on her once she gauged how shrunken the brunette looked.

"Can we help you with something?" She asked as she appeared beside her friend, her voice steady and cautious. Clearly, she was surprised as well to see a figure like him walk up here but not horrified as her best friend who had seen him with a gun.

"No." He gave her a balant reply with a balant stare before turning his attention back to Aurora.

"We have business to discuss, Ms Beckett." She wasn't surprised to hear him say her name she never told yet the way he said he had buisness with her like he was mocking her was enough to send a chill down her spine. "Alone." He added, sparing lia another glance.

"Buisness? What is he talking about, Aurora?" Lia spoke, turning to her with confusion evident in her tone. Of course, she would be confused, surprised even. It was not every day a man in an Armani suit and tie that cost more than the space they were standing in, walked in to talk buisness.

Aurora's eyes peeked back at her friend with an uncertainty of their own. "I-uh.." Her gaze moved back and forth between her best friend and the man that seemed to look at her with an intention to bore a hole in her head.

Taking a deep breath and collecting her thoughts, she turned her back and made lia do the same, her voice intended for only her. "This.. is what I meant when I said I was exploring some options." Lia gave her a look of disbelief. "But - But you don't need to worry. He's a trusted ally even though he doesn't look like it. Everything's gonna be fine. You just need to let me have a talk with him." She hoped the blanched expression only crossed her face mentally when she said the words trusted ally and him in the same sentence.

"I'm not leaving you alone to speak to him, Aurora." She deadpanned, her voice intentionally loud enough for him to hear across the counter.

A deep exhale came from his side. Lia opened her mouth to protest further, but Aurora quickly placed a hand on her arm, squeezing it gently.

"It's fine, Lia. Really." She forced a reassuring smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Just give us a minute, okay?"

Lia looked unconvinced, her gaze flicking between Aurora and the man she was skeptical about, but after a tense moment, she sighed and nodded. "I'll be in the back," she said, her tone making it clear she wasn't going far.

As Lia disappeared behind the kitchen door, Aurora turned back to him, her nerves getting on edge again as she locked eyes with his.

"What buisness?" The sound was somewhat of whisper yell as if she was afraid of the walls listening but was still trying to make her point across at the same time.

He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he let his gaze drift around the bakery, taking in every detail with that calculating look that unnerved her so much. “This place—” he gestured vaguely at the bakery, “—is mine now.”

She blinked, the words not quite registering at first. “Yours?” she echoed, incredulous. “What do you mean, yours?”

"I brought it." He said - matter of fact - as if it was the most normal thing.

But to her, the words felt foreign, like they belonged in someone else’s nightmare, not hers. "You… bought it?”

"Choi is no longer your problem. Consider this… payment for your silence.” He spoke, his voice turning bitter at the latter.

Her mind raced, struggling to keep up with the situation. She should have felt relief—after all, wasn’t a resolution to her problem what she had asked for? Instead, a dread seeped into her bones.

It hit her then, like a slap she should have seen coming but didn’t. This wasn’t help. This was control. This was him sinking his claws into her world, and worse — it was her fault for letting him.

The words slipped out before she could stop it. “I didn’t ask for this.”

His expression was a puzzled one. "You asked for my help. This.." He stepped closer to the counter and reached into his coat pocket, pulling out a folded document. He placed it on the surface. "Is how I help."

Help? This was ridiculous. It wasn't a solution. Of course, Mr Choi was a nuisance, but this man was something worse than that. She didn't want something dear to her tied down to him.

But the weight of his words pressed down on her, the realization of what this meant sinking in.

"There must be a catch! Is all this really just for me to keep my mouth shut?" Her brows knitted together as she spoke.

His expression remained unreadable as he spoke, “Nothing more than what we agreed upon. And just your cooperation that I should add."

The nonchalance in his words didn't fool her. "Cooperation?"

His eyes flickered with something unreadable—dangerous, perhaps. "Keep your end of the bargain so I'll not be provoked to keep the end of my promise." She guessed what he was hinting at, and it took her everything not to choke him with a loaf down his throat.

The threat lingered in the air, a dark cloud settling over her. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. She had asked for help even if foolishly so, not for him to take over her life.

Aurora bit her lip,“You think you can just come in here, throw your money around, and claim whatever you want?”

He didn't respond, Instead fumbled a cigarette and a lighter from his pocket to lit it before he was holding it between his gloved fingers and parted lips.

She frowned deeper at the audacity of this man. "And you can't smoke here either!"

He straightened up to look at her with a detached look. Taking a whiff out of the cancer stick, he spoke."I own this place, sweetheart. I can do whatever the fuck I want. You can either accept it or fight it and see consequences you and this place won't like."

She glared at him, hating the truth in his words. Hating that she had somehow ended up in this mess. Yet all fight seemed to drain out of her. What choice did she have? She could actually act upon her urges to shove a loaf down his constantly threat spewing mouth but that wouldn’t change the fact that he did owned her bakery. And, by extension, a piece of her life.

"This-" She was cut off with brutal ignorance as he added. "You should be grateful, Ms Beckett." his eyes briefly scanning the bakery one last time before he turned to leave. "You're in better hands now."

The bell above the door chimed as he walked out, leaving her standing there with her world tilted off its axis and a stack of papers that confirmed just how deep she was in over in her head.

୨ৎ

"What was he on about?" Lia asked as she emerged from the kitchen that was in the back.

Aurora's response was a sigh before she spoke. "Do you wanna go for a drink?"

Tell me what you think:

Wordcount: 273

(Context: Cold Mafia boyfriend has to go on a work trip to another country)

“Don’t fucking test me baby.” I press a kiss to her cheek before turning to the door. “You’re not coming - that’s final.”

I start to walk away, but stop at the sounds of sobbing now coming from behind me. I turn around to find her crying, all her sass stripped away.

“Don’t leave me here alone…” her eyes are wide and innocent and tears are streaming down her delicate cheeks.

I sigh and go back to her, wrapping my arms around her. “You’re so needy, you know that?” I mutter, stroking her hair as she clings onto me like she’ll never let go. At this rate, I’ll never get to the airport on time unless I drag her with me.

But she’s not coming. She’s 18 - she needs to learn to be able to stay home alone sometimes.

She looks up at me, tears like small crystal beads in her golden brown eyes. “Please can I come with you?”

One look at me like that and it takes my heart less than a second to melt into a freaking puddle. “Fine,” I huff. What the hell am I doing?!

Her tears immediately disappear as she flings her arms around my shoulders. “Thank you so much! I promise I won’t get in the way of your important Mafia stuff!”

I already regret this.

“You’d better not,” I warn her sternly, brushing her hair aside to give her neck a soft bite, causing her to yelp in surprise. “You know I’ll punish you, right?”

She nods frantically. “I promise!”

“Good. I hope you’re packed - we’re leaving now.”

Tell me what you guys think! <3

Pairing : Jaemin X Reader (mafia Au)

Pairing : jaemin x reader (mafia au)

Summary: whereas jaemin is tasked to kidnap the rival gang leader's daughter but ends up abducting the wrong girl.

Warnings: mention of violence, blood, make out sesh? That's all I guess.

Word count : 5,243 (short and fast-paced).

Pairing : Jaemin X Reader (mafia Au)

"Wait so i'm supposed to abduct this girl from a club?" Questioned jaemin as taeyong nodded "shes not just some girl, and I want you to keep that in mind. She's the heir to the black rose and therefore very treasured by the boss so make sure it goes swiftly or you'll be dead meat at their hands".

And thats how jaemin found himself sitting at the bar of one of Seoul's most exclusive clubs keeping an eye out for "the girl" he was supposed to abduct.

"How will I even know what she looks like? You didn't even give me a picture" he had grumbled which caused taeyong to rub his forehead already being done with the younger.

"Intel says she's going to be standing out due to her beauty and the dress she'll be wearing".

And soon enough the girl walked in wearing a red bodycon dress which caused jaemin's lips to curve up "voila" he whispered sipping his martini soon the girl was dancing with her friends swaying to the music and jaemin found himself being captivated by the sheer sexuality she was giving off.

And when she had come up to the bar did jaemin find it in himself to act "can I get tequila please" she had asked the bartender and boy did her voice do things to jaemin.

"Tequila? Feeling dangerous are we" he had whispered sitting right beside her which had caused her to raise her brow at him "and if I am? what's that gotta do with you" she sassed taking the shot glass and downing it in one go, she signalled for another and another.

Soon she was a bit more than tipsy and was being overly flirty "you know, you look like someone" she slurred pointing at him as jaemin watched in amusement" someone?" He questioned "like someone I'd like to take back home" she whispered grabbing his collar.

Too far gone to care she bought her face close to jaemin's but jaemin being the ever so gentleman-ly stopped her plastering a cocky smile on his face "oh yeah? Why don't I take you to mine" he had flirted and soon jaemin was leading her out of the club as y/n had waved bye to her friends.

What jaemin hadn't noticed was that another girl had walked passed him and straight into the club, she too wore a red dress but jaemin being jaemin hadn't paid much mind, too busy trying to get y/n to sit in the passenger seat.

When jaemin had bought her to the manor everyone (taeyong excluded since he was out for a deal) watched both amused and in awe seeing jaemin struggle with a drunk girl in his arms giggling about god knows what.

"Are you sure you can carry her to the basement?" Questioned jeno as jaemin grunted rolling his eyes "no I don't need your help jeno god- CAN YOU CUT IT OUT" he scolded y/n who had been poking at his eyebrow Piercing making her pout at him.

"No need to be that harsh jaemin" stated jeno which earned him a stink eye in return making him retreat to what he was previously doing. with a little struggle jaemin brought her to the small captivation room, tossing her down on the bed he muttered something along the lines of "such a pain in the ass" and "never taking a drunk girl home ever again".

Dusting the invisible dirt on himself he looked at her only to find her passed out on the bed causing him to sigh as he took the rough blanket he found discarded on the floor and throw it at her but surprisingly she had snuggled up to it causing his lips to curve up. but the small smile was quick to be replaced with his usual poker face as he grumbled.

With that, he walked out of the room and quickly walked up the stairs his ears had started to feel hot walking straight by jeno who saw right through him as he smirked.

The next day when y/n had woken up finding her clothes intact under the blanket which she threw off her body because of how worn down it looked "musty ass blanket ,the fuck!!" she mumbled looking around when she saw the room she was in, reality struck her.

But being her brother's sister, she didn't panic but stayed calm waiting for the said abductor to show up which he did, looking fresh jaemin walked in holding a tray of food "this is the only thing you'll get princess so better eat up" he spoke settling his eyes on the bed which he found empty causing his eyes to become as big as saucers.

Putting the tray down he looked around the room and even went to look into the small bathroom which he found empty.

When he came out of the bathroom he was about to alert the others but a hand grabbed him from behind twisting his arms behind his back she breathed near his ear "who the fuck are you!!" She spoke calm causing shivers to go down jaemin's spine.

"Well, what's the fun in that princess" he spoke with a teasing lilt to his voice which irked her "stop fucking calling me that!! if you don't tell me who you are and why you kidnapped me then" . "then what princess?" He questioned pushing her buttons.

Next thing he knew he was being pushed towards the bed as she pressed her knee down on his back "don't make me use more force " she seethed as jaemin tch-ed now starting to get annoyed he pushed back with force causing her to stumble as he flipped her now pinning her on the bed with ease.

"Now listen here princess, you look smart enough to know to not mess with people who hold the key to your freedom " grinding her teeth she tried to kick him in the groin but stopped feeling him grab her thigh "you'll have to do better than that" he smirked painfully squeezing the soft flesh.

The smirk was wiped off his face seeing her smile at him crazily "why-" his question hadn't even gotten out as she answered him, the headbutt had him seeing stars as he held his head which she took as an opportunity to push him off.

Seeing the open door she ran straight out of and up the stairs to the ground floor of the manor.

At the entrance of the basement stood an unassuming chenle whose eyes widened seeing a random girl come charging towards him, with that his fight or flight instincts kicked in and soon he was running away and straight towards jeno he went.

jeno who had been on a call with someone furrowed his brows as his eyes settled on chenle"No yangyang i'm telling you, ramen sauce does go on top of every- chenle?!!!" He yelled confused as to why the younger was running but seeing the dishevelled-looking girl running behind him he got his answer "yeah i'll call you back yang" he hung up.

Y/n had been trying to follow chenle in hopes of the goofy-looking man leading her to the exit but seeing as he was going nowhere but just running in circles she stopped huffing.

Wrong move, because soon she felt the wind being knocked out of her lungs as jeno tackled her to the ground ,and was now holding a knife to her neck as she blew a raspberry in annoyance "oh come on what's with you guys and pinning me down".

Jeno rolled his eyes as he grabbed her by the arms still holding the knife to her neck he questioned " why are you fucking running?!!" "Isn't it obvious? Some mafia you guys are ,can't even put two and two together" she sassed but stopped as jeno wasn't having any of it and pressed the knife harder against her skin making her wince as she felt a drop of blood trickle down her neck.

"Thank god you caught her jeno, or else ty would have had my head as a trophy in his office" came a panting jaemin who quickly caught his breath "damn she fucked you up" he snorted seeing the bump on jaemin's forehead . rolling his eyes jaemin pushed him away "i'll take her away you can resume whatever you were doing".

With that jaemin took her back to the basement not forgetting to bring handcuffs to restrain her " didn't take you as the bondage type of guy to be honest, you look quite vanilla to me" she snorted trying to get a reaction out of him as jaemin sighed noticing the blood stain on her skin "did jeno do that?" He questioned, "eh it's a dumb scratch I've experienced actual wounds though, curtsy to sparring with my brother" she spoke quipping his interest.

"You sparring? you don't look like you could hurt a fly" and that earned him a cackle as y/n grinned at him cockily "I gave you a nice bump on your forehead didn't i" jaemin rolled his eyes but he too couldn't help but smile hearing her laugh at such a thing.

The next day when taeyong arrived back from Thailand the deal being a success, he now sat in his office dialling a number with a cigarette in one hand while he held the phone to his ear with the other "jinhyung" he let out as the other line of the phone was silent for a few seconds "who's this ?" "I believe that's not important, what I do believe important is the fact that we have your daughter right here-" "i'm sorry you have my what ?!!" Hearing the humour in the man's voice caused taeyong's face to morph into a worried frown as jaemin felt his heart drop to his ass.

"Your daughter!!" "Oh really?" Jaemin was getting anxious by the second as the call progressed "yes and we'd like for you to pay the price to get her back-" "okay listen here buddy, I don't know what kind of dumb joke you are pulling because my daughter is sitting right in front of me". and that caused taeyong to smile wrily at jaemin with a crazed look in his eyes which made jaemin gulp already knowing what was to come.

"You PICKED UP THE WRONG GIRL YOU FUCKING DIMWIT" he yelled approaching the younger who said nothing in response, after all, he did fuck up and now he has to pay for it.

When jaemin left the boss's office he bumped into jeno who grabbed him by the shoulders halting him "I heard what happened " he whispered checking up on him and wincing as he saw the black eye and busted lip he had gotten thanks to their boss taeyong.

Don't get him wrong taeyong wasn't a bad guy he had strict rules that did not even himself as the boss broke.

When jaemin had gone into the basement later that night to give y/n her dinner she too furrowed her brows seeing the condition of his face "damn what did you do to have someone reconstruct your face" she joked but seeing the dead look on his face she decided to leave it.

"Jeno told me" she spoke while munching on the sandwich catching jaemin's attention," he told you what?" He inquired with a threatening lilt to his voice which didn't phase her but she still went on "nothing besides the fact that you were supposed to kidnap someone else and accidentally took me instead" she shrugged as jaemin gapped at the sheer audacity of the situation.

"Why" "why what?" She questioned "why are you so calm about the fact that you're in some basement, and might not get the chance to leave" he seethed now getting frustrated with her.

"Well if I were to run around screaming at the top of my lungs your mates would just beat me the fuck up, and I don't want any marks on my face, no offence pretty boy" she spoke "I have a name" "well yeah of course you do but you didn't bother telling me" she bit back causing him to roll his eyes.

"Jaemin" "that wasn't too hard now was it, i'm y/n by the way" she clapped in exaggeration as he pushed her over making her fall back on the bed dramatically.

"So what are we supposed to do with her now" questioned Yuta who sat in the meeting room along with all the other members who agreed with him "that is the reason I've called upon this meeting, I believe due to our rule of not harming innocent people we can make her a small part of nct".

That earned him a series of grunts of disagreement from every other member present in the room which taeyong raised his hand once causing the whole room to fall into silence" starting from today y/n is a part of nct and will be trained by no one other than jaemin, yuta and jaehyun, thats it you all can leave" he spoke dismissing everyone as they all grumbled on out.

And thats why jaemin now stood in the training room "see this? It's the safety of the gun you switch it off as this" y/n could only watch as he went over what to do and what not to do with a gun not bothering to tell him the fact that she was already well acquainted to the same weapons that were aligning the walls of the training room.

"Ok here take this and try to shoot that target" he handed her the small but heavy gun which she held with ease jaemin watched closely as she didn't even bother putting on the noise cancellation headset.

And without missing a beat she shot the target three times penetrating the poor manquin's head chest and leg, which left jaemin's mouth gaping." what the fuck" he let out causing her to let out an airy laugh.

The next one to try and train her was yuta who was teaching her self defence being overly surprised when she had swiftly knocked him off his feet and had given him a sweet bruised side.

When jaehyun came to check out her sparring skills he too was left speechless when the smaller girl had knocked him out cold with a sucker punch to the face.

"No taeyong you don't get it she-" "she's a goddamn sociopath with no empathy" spoke yuta cutting jaehyun off who nodded at the older's claim.

"Her shooting skills are better than mine too. It's almost intimidating" added jaemin as taeyong stared at the three with nothing but pure amusement dancing in his eyes "a small girl has got you guy's like this-" "don't take her size lightly i swear she uses it to her advantage throwing her opponent off guard " whined yuta earning him acknowledging huffs from the other two.

"Whatever you three, she still needs training until i feel like she can be tested by me, so now shoo" he waved them off as the other two dragged a flailing yuta out of the room "I DON'T WANNA" his voice faded off into the distance as taeyong rolled his eyes "idiots" .

Sighing he looked through the file he had gotten about her private information, and what confused him was the fact that there wasn't much on it, no background information nothing and it just made him more suspicious of her "just who are you" he questioned looking at the picture on the file .

Meanwhile, the said girl was walking around the manor now exploring it , she was accompanied by jeno ofcourse, they still didn't trust her enough to let her go around on her own without trying to escape.

"So y/n, what do you like to do when you're bored" he questioned as he showed her around the different rooms "well i like to play video games" she stated as jeno perked up "oh, then you're gonna love the gaming room" " the what now-" she was cut off by him opening the double doors to a huge room which was filled with mutiple arcade games and a huge television with a ps5 setup.

"Welcome to the fun dungeon" he snorted as he said the name "fun dungeon, really?" She asked snorting as jeno rolled his eyes "well blame jisung and chenle for naming it that" he scratched the back of his neck as she laughed "you up for a round of call of duty vs?" And jeno's eyes sparkled as he smiled "you're on pipsqueak" .

And that's how their hours long gaming session started which consisted of the two playing call of duty at first but then kept switching games to challange each other it wasn't until dinner time did they stop playing because renjun had scolded them for overheating the console .

"You sooo cheated during tekken" accused jeno as y/n rolled her eyes as she folded her arms "did not" she retorted making him stick his tongue out at her "did too" "taeyong?!!" She said looking shocked as her eyes were fixed behind jeno who whipped his head around to look "hyu- OW" he whined as y/n slapped the back of his neck and bolted.

The two ran around the manor running down the stairs, almost knocking an unassuming xiaojun down the stairs "jesus justin beiber" he whined clutching his pearls as jeno and y/n ran down not even sparing him a second glance "sorry" yelled y/n as she was successfully down the stairs.

Jaemin who was calmly sitting on the dining table furrowed his brows as haechan commented about how close y/n and jeno looked "just shut up and eat your food" he scolded as haechan rolled his eyes "jealousy doesn't suit you nana" he snorted as jaemin took a fork and threatend to gouge his eyes out.

"Fuck you donghy-" he was cut off by the pair that busted into the kitchen both panting from the chase "get here you little shit" said jeno as y/n flipped him off "only when i'm dead, you slut" she said as she spotted jaemin "NANA" she yelled as she threw herself at him, causing the pizza slice he was holding to fall to the floor as he quickly held her.

"Nono is being mean" she whined clinging to him as he looked confused "nono?" "She hit me and ran , all i did was point out the fact she cheated in tekken" he huffed as jaemin rolled his eyes "stop being childish and eat your food you two" he stated as jeno quickly went to wash his hands the two fighting over space on the sink as jaemin rubbed his forehead.

"I kinda ship it" said haechan sneakily to jaemin as he exited the kitchen, leaving a rather irked jaemin behind to look at the other two who finally settled down on the bar stools against the island and ate their fare share of pizza.

"Good game" said jeno as y/n laughed, the laugh made jaemin feel all warm inside as he forced himself to tune the two out .

Later on into the night jaemin was on his way to his room but halted when he saw the door to the extra bedroom beside his opened. Y/n and jeno inside "and your room is facing mine, and is right beside jaemin's, isn't that great" he smiled as y/n nodded that was all jaemin needed to hear as he rolled his eyes and went to his room.

"Right beside jaemin's room ey" she said as she saw his retreating figure go into his room "don't get any ideas pipsqueak" he teased as she snorted "oh i'll try" she said as she bid him goodnight deciding to freshen up she went to the bathroom in her room ,after a while she got out out the shower wearing her bathrobe as she dried her hair with a towel.

She facepalmed as she realised she didn't have any comfortable cloths to sleep in, deciding to go to jeno she went out of her room.

Already forgetting which one was jeno's she went into the room beside hers, finding 'him' asleep already made her groan "wake up dummy, i need cloths to change into" she stated as she approached the sleeping figure. jaemin made a sound which was a mixture of a groan and a whine as y/n rolled her eyes ready to pull the blanket off his face she approached him.

But yelped when she felt jaemin grab her wrist and pull her on the bed beside him, "for a newbie you sure are comfortable with walking around wearing a filmsy bathrobe in a place filled with men" he spoke beside her ear , eyes still closed he laid there with a tight grip on her wtist.

"Wha-what the fuck jaemin" she sputtered out as jaemin finally opened his eyes and stared right into hers "cat got your tongue snippy?" He snickered letting go of her wrist as he got out of bed and went towards his closet.

Grabbing a random pair of sweats and a a tshirt he tossed them to her as she caught them "i prefer you in my cloths than jeno's" he rasped, voice deeper than usual due to him still being sleepy as y/n felt herself getting hot "whatever" she hissed as she started untying the robe as jaemin's eyes widened, swiftly he turned around as his ears went beet red.

Y/n snickered as she put on the cloths, "cat got your tongue jaeminie~ she teased as she stood behind him fully dressed in his cloths as he still didn't turn around " i'm decent, you can turn around now" she said as he finally turned around and stared right into her eyes.

"A dangerous game is what you're playing darling" her whispered as he gently took her by the waist causing her heart to almost leap out of her chest, without thinking their faces inched closer and closer...

"Yo jaemin have you seen y/n- OH MY EYES" yelled jeno as he covered his eyes, which caused them to jump apart as they cleared their throats "do you mind knocking jeno!!" Seethed jaemin as jeno smiled his usual samoyed eye smile which made y/n snicker "i was looking all over for you to hand you some clothe to sleep in, but seeing as you already had jaemin give you his cloths- which is rare he doesn't even give me his hoodies talk about being stingy- " "are you done?" Questioned jaemin cutting jeno off who grinned.

"Whatever good night nana, let's go young lady" said jeno as he grabbed the girl's hand and dragged her away , jaemin watched his bestfriend drag her away , she looked back as they made eye contact, jaemin being jaemin he went red and looked away .

"What was that" whisper-yelled jeno as he sat down on her bed as she too flopped down on it "i think i have feelings for him jeno" she said as she faced the ceiling jeno too laid down beside her "then tell him not me" he stated as a matter of fact as she groaned.

"I'm not really great with feelings jen" she whined as he patted her head "it's okay, i'll help you, for now, sleep i know you're tired from all the training" he said as he left "Boy if only you knew this training isn't half as bad the one yixing makes me do" she snickered as she drifted off to sleep.

It was the next day and y/n woke up early to make breakfast for everybody , one by one they all came down stairs to see the huge dining hall table set yuta came down yawning and flinched when he was met with the over enthusiastic face of the girl.

"Jesus you scared me" he stated as y/n snickered "oh your reactions are priceless" she fake wiped a tear as she gestured for him to sit down beside the dream team "when did you even get the time to make this" he questioned as he eyed the breakfast sandwhiches and butter croissants as she smiled.

"I woke up at 8 am to make everything, oh and i made coffee it's in the coffee maker " she informed them. Soon the table was packed with all the members, the dining hall filled with loud chatter of all the guy's, jaemin found himself oberving how close y/n and jeno were sitting .

Her hand brushed his arm ever so slightly everytime he told her something funny, he narrowed his eyes at the duo as he bent the metal spoon , haechan snickered beside him "any minute now i feel like steam would be coming out of your ears" he whispered, loud enough so that only jaemin could hear him.

After breakfast the guy's did the dishes in pairs as a token of their gratitude for the hearty breakfast; y/n was on her way to the game room but felt someone grab her by the wrist and pull her into a nearby room.

"What- jaemin" she mumbled against his palm as he shushed her "you are treading dangerous waters, being flirty with my bestfriend, just to rile me up" he seethed as y/n rolled her eyes and pushed him away which caused him to stumble abit making him scoff.

"Quick fyi jaemin, if you weren't too busy drowning in your own jealousy you would notice that the interactions i have with jeno are nothing but platonic" she barked .

"You... You and that overly smart and sassy mouth of yours are so infuriating" he whispered as he held the back of her hair in a tight grip, not enough to hurt but enough to make her face him directly.

"Don't think i'm that easy to play with darling, if you want to bring a gun to a sword fight, go ahead, but remember i'm alway's two paces ahead of you" with that he captured her lips in a breathy kiss , consuming the words that were at the tip of her tongue.

Pulling away he couldn't help but stare into her eyes as she looked up at him "i think my feelings go deeper than just liking you, it's kinda scary" he whispered gently stroking her cheek as she leaned into his touch "i think i love you" she whispered as jaemin's heart soared as he smiled that silly smile of his "i love you too" .

~~

Later on taeyong had told jaemin to sparr with y/n as she stood infront of him wearing her jump suit which was similar to his, he grinned "i can go easy on you if you want darling" he said voice velvety as she chuckled "no need bunny boy" she winked as they took their fighting stance.

The charged at eachother, jaemin swung at her as she blocked it with ease , he quickly kicked at her legs causing her to stumble forward."you did say not to go easy " he laughed as she blew a strand of hair out of her face.

Swiftly she got up as jaemin couldn't help but find her determination to be a huge turn on , this time she charged at him from up front which he dodged with a grin afcourse but that grin was knocked off his face when she did a mixture of a cartwheel and a handstand and wrapped her legs around his neck, making him fall backwards, she had her hand behind his head to cushion his fall.

The wind had been knocked out of his lungs as he laid there on the training room's floor. Her sat on his chest panting as he laughed "where'd you learn how to do that?" He asked as she calmed down her breathing "my brother-" "WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE" came an angry voice from outside the door as they busted open.

Revealing a fuming yixing as y/n's eyes widened "GEGE!!?" she yelled as she quickly scrambled to get off jaemin's chest and threw herself at her brother, "brother?" "YOU'RE CHINESE??!!" queationed both jaemin and chenle at the same time as y/n laughed .

"Yes and yes, uh jaemin meet my older brother yixing , or as you all may know him as lay" she introduced them to each other as jaemin looked like he would pass out from fright.

"What were you doing with my sister" he questioned narrowing his eyes at the younger who gulped waving his hand around. "Sparring?" He laughed as yixing scoffed "did you hit my sister??" He inquired as jaemin frantically shook his head.

"She knocked me down hyung" he scratched the back of his neck as lay looked at his sister "did you?" She nodded "yup, just like you taught me" she grinned as he smiled ruffling her hair "that's my dumpling" she huffed and swatted his hand away.

And later on yixing didn't really do anything due to nct and exo being allies he sighed as he faced his sister "i was worried sick about you " he stated as she pouted and hugged him "i was in good hands though, i actually made some friends and well i also have jaemin now, besides i'm surprised it took you that long to find me" she teased as he rolled his eyes "minseok was being a little priss and went mia so i couldn't track you down without his help" .

"Classic minseok, was he in paris again to pester jia to take him back?" She asked snorting as yixing nodded laughing , "yeah exactly , that idiot won't leave the poor girl alone". He shook his head as he told her to get in the car " wait!!, i didn't say goodbye to nana" "what the fuck is a nana?" His question was left unanswered as she had sprined back into the manor.

She went to his room and found him sat on his bed, quietly she tried to sneak up on him but failed as he turned around to look at her "you can't really sneak up on a trained hit man darling" he grinned as she pouted and sat on his lap "i have to go my love" "i know" he whispered as he looked into her eyes while holding her as she put her forehead against his.

"I'll call you when i get home okay" she promised as he breathed in deeply, taking in her scent that he had come to love "i love you" she whispered as she kissed him as he sighed in content "i'll take you on a date soon" he whisperer against her lips as she grinmed "i'd like that" "yeah?" "Yeah" she whispered getting off , not before stealing a quick peck.

Smiling she ran out as jaemin sighed falling down on his bed dramtically , jeno peeked into his room and gagged "i can smell the hopeless romance from across the hall romeo, tone it down" he teased as jaemin threw a pillow at him.

Meanwhile y/n finally sat down in the passenger seat grinning like an idiot as yixing looked at her chuckling."i assume that went well?" She nodded as she looked down at her phone as it dinged with a messege from him "i miss you:^( " you'll live <3" is what she had sent and laughed.
