It breaks my heart that DAO doesn't acknowledged a lot of traumatic experience of the warden. I understand it would have been impossible to make a specific scene of every origin, but it's weird in the game that the warden doesn't react when she has to kill Tamlen or when she find the man who rape her friends (in the elf city origin).
My canon warden is a female Mahariel who romanced Alistair and I can only imagine how devastating this encounter must had been. Her childhood sweetheart, who she thought was dead, crazy and still in love with her. He says he loves her before he asked to killed him. I love to make my character suffer so she felt guilty not only she betrayed Tamlen, but with a Shem, their people's enemy, a Shem she loved. And the game puts one dialogue about it.

What did this moment mean for your warden?
The nightmares hunted her at night, is the same dream over and over. The only visible thing is an enormous mirror in the middle,in the mirror she doesn't see her reflection, but sees him instead.
Him as young and hopeful as he used to be. He torments her with his calm smile, a smile that used to melted her heart, his small blue eyes fill with love, his vallaslin proudly covering his face.
Dirthamen suited him well, he kept all people's secrets even when he was cought in trouble. He used to say that he'll rather die before snitching his friends.
He stares at her for just a few seconds and then turns around leaving her alone. She would tried talking to him, hitting the mirror, screaming for his help, but he never look back. He never talked to her or give her any expression other than happiness. He looked the same way the day she lost him.
She hits the mirror with all her strength and falls on her knees when she hears Alistair calling her, she feels embarrassed, she says she regret Tamlen's disaperence but she is in love with another man,she abandoned him, she betrayed...
'You're not alone my love. I'm here, It's over now.'

Switch the protagonist of each game and suddenly you have a much shorter story.

The choices you make on DA and the impact they have in others shows who you are as a person.
For example, I must be a frickin WHORE because I can't say even one nice thing about Leliana or Zevran without Alistair being like "omg are you guys dating?"

It's a wardens duty to recruit as many people as they can during the blight yet Mahariel chose to kill Loghain, why? Because Alistair asked her to.
This created a chain of events that led to them being the only wardens in all Ferelden. Forcing them to decide who was going to die.
It's a wardens duty to kill the Archidemon and die for the wellbeing of all yet Alistair did the dark ritual, why? Because Mahariel asked him to.
Solas has Mythal's and an ancient god's powers, and why is that? Because the last wardens of Ferelden chose love over duty.

Wardens have their own problems, I gotta save my people, so tell you people to put their big girl pants on a deal with these Corifeus by themselves. I didn't receive any help when the Blight started.
Even if I wanted to help I don't know shit about grey wardens, Duncan gave me some expired demon juice and threw me into the battlefield. To these day I can't remember if our motto starts with in peace or in death.
So yeah, good luck with the shemlen and the Chantry. Say hi to Leliana, tell Morrigan I hope she died and congratulate Cullen about finally doing the right thing.
