your voice is weak as you speak to him, thumb on his cheek to brush over his sun spotted skin. katsuki has freckles. you wonder how you never noticed, the faint cream orange marks just under his eyes— you know now that you can only see them if you’re really looking… if he’s up close and under the lenses of your watery eyes. you wonder if that means you haven’t really been looking at him, if you’d taken the secret shared moments you’d had with bakugou for granted.

you wouldn’t waste a second longer, you’d take in the beauty of the vermillion dancing in his eyes— the way the colour bled into other shades of red. you would remember the brown flecks to this very set of eyes, the ones you already knew you’d only see if you squinted or right before you kissed him. oh yeah.
