I’ve had this idea for a full blown head canon break down video about the “Chasing Grace” scene in Dead Reckoning Part one for a while now but I can’t find the clips I need to have evidence for it to make sense. If anyone has the full scene or clips from Ethan saying “If anything happens to either of them, there is no place on Earth where you or your god will be safe from me.” to where Benji appears behind Ethan’s shoulder on the bridge I’d being whiling to make a ~3 minute break down video of what I think was going on in that scene with footage evidence.

(So I know what I’m going to be watching tomorrow :D. Fr actually screamed a bit when we got this! Hoping to notice new things I didn’t see the first time watching it.)

Noticed that there’s a photo of Erika Sloane hanging on the wall in the meeting room where they’re giving out plot context. (Nice detail).
Benji time lesss gooooooooo! (oh also Luther :).
(Notice ig?) Love how Benji’s first line is very serious but then ends with a joke.

Might be throw away line but when (ima say the whole scene rq)
Benji says: “I am so.”
Luther: “You are not.”
Benji: “Ethan would you care to explain to our friend the Net Ranger, how I am just as capable of writing code as he is.”
Ethan: “No comment.”
Benji: “Oh what you figure that Fenies Freak (love that nickname btw) here is gonna single handedly work out a way to kill the Entity while I hold his suturing iron.”
Ethan: “Probably.”
Luther: “Definitely.”
This could actually mean something along the lines of who kills the entity or like writes the code to. (Or like I said before it’s just a throw away line 🥲).
Not really a notice but Benji’s quite, absolutely pissed, but shaken to his very core “Bastard.” Just stole my heart and crushed it.
Fucking Christ I forgot how good he looks in his attorney fit.
Yaaas Benji come save your bbg boyfriend who’s handcuffed to a steering wheel ☺️. (Also damn Simon you look good in that fit).
(Also little thing I noticed, Benji kept looking at Ethan with his little dopey smile even while Ethan’s eye focus changed to Ilsa).
Love how Benji’s first thought after their coms are breached is to “Find Ethan” it’s just his absolute top priority even without thinking about it.
(Also ayo Benji driving a boat!)
(And I’m just going to say it Benji’s catch phrase like Ethan’s “Mission Accomplished” should be “You are Dunn”).
Welp yall know what scene just happened 😔 *Cue the sad music* may she rest in peace.
Mission Impossible Notice: 4
(For reasons I am not posting many images of the movie but this one I absolutely had to).
Just Benji sitting dejectedly by him self in the corner doing absolutely nothing breaks my heart on completely new levels. (And the thing is you can probably guess what he’s thinking about. It could be that he’s blaming himself for Ilsa, that he has absolutely no idea how to react to it or what to do, or he’s just thankful it wasn’t Ethan but still upset by it).
Then in the next scene of Benji while Luthers discussing stuff it shows him wiping his face off which indicates he was crying but doesn’t want to show anyone, he then just goes straight back into agent mode and walks out of his little broom closet/room to join the others.
I completely forgot how Gabriel got on the train and when I saw him in that damn (guessing instrument case or somthing) I started actually laughing, like bruh over the top drama queen much. (Also interesting mask don’t really know what to say about it).
(Also jeez Gabriel can be gruesome, one example being the train conductor thing)…
God such a nice refresher to listen to Ethan and Benji bicker like an old married couple again. And Benji just forcing Ethan to take a step back and breath after slightly exploding on him.😌
Finale thoughts about Dead Reckoning
Aight so pretty much finished only have 3 minutes left so I’m just going to go over anything I wanted to say to finish it.
So here are my thoughts (and prayers) about this movie. Idk why but I absolutely loved the sound design in this movie it was just top notch, as well as the crazy stunt in this one.
The main character I’m worried for in MI-8 (other than Ethan bc protagonist) is Benji. Mainly because of how dependent he is on his tech. Unlike Luther who’s older than him and who got disenvowed without any kind of connection to technology allowed, so he knows how to survive without it and do what he’s has to without it. Also Kittredge saying “The closer someone gets to you, the harder it is to keep them alive.” While the camera is on Benji scares the fuck out of me for the next movie. (Also his cute little “Thank god” when he see’s Ethan gliding down warms my heart). Furthermore, Kittredge says “-should any of your members be caught or killed,- their sacrifice will have been in vain.” While mostly the camera is on Benji for the beginning of that line.
Things I’m hoping for in MI-8 is to have some Ethan and Benji scenes like in Rogue Nation with Benji’s whole I’m your “friend” monologue but it’s longer and they discuss more things about like their relationship. I’ll even just take them interacting because we don’t have many long scene of it only bits and pieces scattered through out the movies.
ALSO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE US BENJI’S BACKSTORY MCQ! WE’RE BEGGING ON OUR KNEES!
So uh yeah that’s pretty much the main jist of what I wanted to say about Dead Reckoning and my thoughts about future things, so time to wait a year for MI-8!
