Just some impressions from the making of Fury Road to remind you that they used as less CGI as possible. Thank you George ♥

An excerpt from 500 DAYS OF SUMMER (2009) Screenplay
This movie is very playful with the graphic effects. Of course it ties into Tom’s imagination and point of view, but the descriptions here on the page are so characteristic of the narrator. I love a screenplay that reads more than an operation.

The tone in this single scene turns over so many times, its consciously reinforcing its irony. That’s camp!

I laughed so hard at this bit here. In this short scene, we’re shown how Tom’s emotions about Summer are affecting his work-- but we’re just as quickly defused from thinking that it will be an issue. Summer is his co-worker, but their conflict is not implicit in their relationship as co-workers. That movie would be way more dramatic.

Excerpt from ZOMBIELAND (2009) screenplay
This scene is really simple and would not be hard to explain to someone who hasn’t seen the movie. Except the mention of twinkies is very specific to Albuquerque's quirk. It’s easy to find funny on its own, but the fact that these characters are in the middle of a Zombie apocalypse-- that’s what makes it funnier.
What if I told yall CGI isn't some monster? It's actually art, much like practical effects. Companies just don't pay vfx artists enough
Not Quite Silver Screen
Hello hello and welcome to this week’s response to the six-sentence story prompt WRAP. I decided to go with the classic Hollywood version of the word, and tell the story of our narrator that just headlined a production disaster. I never thought I could be so relieved as I was when they yelled out, “That’s a wrap,” after two months of production hell. It was a low budget film, which we all…

They don't even have to be always great practical effects, they can be a bit cheesy and with small hiccups where for a fraction of the second you can spot the puppeteers left elbow in one specific scene and you can have a little giggle at peeking behind the curtain of the movie magic. It's fun
I am so fucking sick of CGI this, CGI that. give me back on location filming (when possible), give me back intricate hauntingly realistic animatronics and puppets, give me back handmade props & masks & skillful make up……..just give me back practical effects I am begging
write a fake article
hey guys, so I’m making a movie and in one of the scenes there’s a fake newspaper. I have one article and need a few more. This movie isn’t making any money, it’s a volunteer project already, but I was hoping I could get some help filling up the paper.
Some notes about the world: this world has elves and other magical beings, but magic disappeared during the Industrial Revolution. It looks a lot like our world, but more eco-aware and more accepting.
basically, any kind of articles are welcome. They won’t be onscreen very long, I just thought I’d leave this here to see if anyone wants to write one. If you want to write one, drop a comment and DM me the article
I'm Making a Movie!!!
Oh. My. God. I cannot believe I'm filming a movie right now!
I've been planning this movie for just over a year now and have been desiring to make a live action project for much longer than that. (Seriously, I wrote a pjo universe web series script four years ago)
I can't believe I'm actually at the point of making the magic happen. I've been filming for two days and am so excited to continue making movie magic throughout the summer.
I've adored filmmaking since I was in 5th grade and have known ever since that that's what I wanted to do when I got older. I started by making stop-motion videos with my American Girl Dolls and putting them on YouTube (here: https://www.youtube.com/@april_eclipse_studios )
I am still in disbelief that I am making my first movie, even if no one is getting paid in it because it's just volunteer for a school thing for next year.
