Well I definitely read [reviews]. Not all of them, obviously, because at a certain point it stops being beneficial I think. But definitely I try to get an overview of what the general feedback is, you know it’s good to know how you are being perceived. I try to take it with a grain of salt, because I think if you let it get to you too much it can kind of start infringing on your work the next time. And it stops being helpful and becomes more of a hindrance. I don’t ever want to become too self-conscious on set otherwise I think that’s when you stop taking risks, and when you stop taking risks you will be doing really boring performances.

What would you like to see in a Harley spin-off? Just more and more of Harley! I’m just like, so not done playing that character yet and there’s so much more to do with her I think. I mean, if anyone who’s read the comics you’ll see that there’s a million different story-lines to explore. There’s just so much you can do in the DC universe so I think it’ll be cool.

[on perfecting an American accent] The one word that trips me up is ‘home.’ I don’t know if that’s a psychological thing or a mechanical thing. It’s the vowel, especially since I’m from Queensland and don’t have the most rounded accent to begin with.

The point of the [I, Tonya] movie was never to say she was a victim or she was a villain. It was just to show that she was a person. That’s what we were hoping to achieve. Not for people to think she’s perfect. Just to care for a moment, to feel what she felt, to some small degree.

Once I did “Wolf of Wall Street,” I was definitely receiving specific roles that were all really similar to what I had done in that movie, which was odd to me because I’m nothing like that character. I remember saying to my team, “We can’t take any of these roles, otherwise I’m going to play the wife or girlfriend my whole life.” I don’t want to pick up a script where I want to play the guy character instead of the female character I’m being offered.

Honestly, this keeps me up at night, this very question [of feeling like she’s hit her career peak]. I feel like I have peaked and maybe it’s all downhill from here. Maybe I’m at the top and it can’t get any better. I hope that’s not the case because I still feel like I have a lot to give and there are still a lot of directors I want to work with. And, you know, I’m just going to keep climbing as long as I can.
