I hate how duolingo doesn't teach you grammar or masculine vs. feminine words, but I'm too lazy to search it up so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do your parents speak multiple languages but use them as a code language so you never learned them now that you do have to learn them you're mad at your parents for not teaching you?

I learned to read arabic fast and properly from watching movies cause for some stupid reason I need subtitles to be able to understand movies and just dialogue,and we always had arabic Subtitles on movies and for my little pea brain to understand the plot/ dialogue I had to adapt which means try ing to keep up with the arabic subtitles. Some of yall will be like but "JoB isn't aRaBiC iS YouR fiRsT LAngUagE it cAnt bE ThAt HARD " well dear Non-Arab , Spoken arab ≠Written Arabic unlike English which if you can speak it then you can most easily understand it as the grammar isn't that different and it doesn't have that many made up words. Arabic is a languge that has a lot of native speakers but since the area is pretty spread up the areas will have their own dialect that's most likely completely different than the other areas for example people of the levant might easily understand each other they would have a difficulty understanding North Africans and vica versa with the other areas.So reading and writing MSA (modern standard Arabic AKA fos'ha) is kind of like learning another language especially for people whose dialect is very different than MSA. Personally I was kind of lucky as the dialogue I spoke is quite similar to MSA and was raised on dubbed shows/animes where they spoke either MSA or the Egyptian dialect (which is like one of the most understood dialects around the arab World ) there was also a phase where | would only talk in MSA due to all the dubbed shows I watched kind of in a similar way as that girl that spoke in a british accent because of peppa pig.

🗣️ As someone who's multilingual, I often get asked the same question: "Can you teach me some curse words in [insert language]?" Maybe it's because curse words are the ultimate icebreaker, or maybe it's just human nature to be a little bit mischievous. The phenomenon has icreased since I started self-studying Korean and Chinese a couple of years ago. But hey, if you really want to learn some colorful language, I won't judge. Just be prepared for some interesting reactions if you use them in the wrong context! 😳

I work at a French café, and the owners are from France, so they have fairly heavy accents. Today, right as I walked in the door, my boss greeted me by saying, “Hola! Cómo estás?” 

And my brain just…couldn’t comprehend what was happening and I stood there gaping at him for a solid minute, like:

You are truly bilingual only if you can count in more than one language

Multilingual... 🤣

I recently had the great pleasure of drawing this poster for the You are here - Refugees Nürnberg project. It’s a brilliant project, aiming to make all the great music, art, film, theatre and events happening in Nürnberg more accessible to refugees through a multilingual website and Facebook page. I’m mega happy to be able to support such a great project with this poster campaign!

In Young Justice, we know that the scarab can translate any (as far as we know) language and is able to get Jaime to speak it perfectly. This applies to human languages too, seen when Jaime speakers Japanese outside the suit.

So, I believe that Jaime will watch literally any show that he likes in any language. Likes K-drama, no need for subtitles. Anime? Same thing.

Not only that but he’ll switch translate for people and everyone is just like ‘when did you learn that?’

JASON SPEAKS TO HIS DOG IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE.

Like, he speaks all these languages and I’d like to think that he made her to be a guard dog of sorts. So, to keep others from telling her what to do, he speaks to her in like French.

All her commands in French, her praise in French, her name tag in French, her name is Cecile.

I will take this to my grave
