Muse Predictions - Tumblr Posts
ok muse predictions because my brain is running wild
because the intro and interlude are next to each other, i think rebirth will be a proper full song and showtime will be just an interlude. i'd love two full songs but idk...i just dont feel like that will be the case
rebirth (intro): the colors remind me of a sunset, and rebirth is a more hopeful concept, so i'm imagining a calm and hopeful song. hopefully like serendipity. also leading off of set me free pt 2 and transitioning us into muse era. if you sang a song demanding your freedom in such a strong way like jimin did, wouldn't you want to be able to breathe and look into hope for an album full of love? i was thinking a similar sound to "the archer" by taylor swift
interlude : showtime: the aesthetic of the cassette tape hardcore reminds me of face. it could be very similar to interlude: dive with how dive walked us through jimin's emotions when preparing to go on stage. showtime could be referring to the phrase "it's showtime" when performers need to get on stage
smeraldo garden marching band: i have absolutely no idea đŸ’€ hiphop makes me think its a faster song, and the rapper feature makes me think set me free pt 2 pt 2. also i was thinking marching band type beats before writing this and then i read the bb article...maybe more of these predictions will be right?
slow dance: my first thought was "dancing with a stranger" by sam smith and normani. if the track is like dancing with a stranger, i would be quite happy actually. i went to listen to some music to try to get a feel for potential sounds and maybe this'll be like "howl" by chuu as well? also the cassette tape colors remind me of a midnight blue and the font is theater lights, so i can imagine it as almost romance movie ost-ish?
be mine: it's a track 5, im claiming it. its most likely going to be a love song, which means it might be a slower song. this surely has to be serendipity pt 2 right? (im a bit delulu)
who: i also have no idea...the cassette design brings back those stars from the album announcement and anything star related immediately has me hooked. hip hop and r&b make me think very upbeat, happy overall. the "intense bounce and guitar" make me think of beachy songs and the overall color scheme also makes me think beachy, plus its a summer album
i feel like i have to a whole dive in on just the cassette tape and album designs...so much potential in fonts and color theory...
omg wait, we all were saying smfp2 sounded like a mix of lie, on, and black swan, but isn't that what smeraldo garden marching band is gonna sound like? smfp2 + lie + black swan + on?
smfp2 already has the horn sound of a marching band and that hip hop aspect, lie and black swan have the orchestral sounds, and on is the marching band aspect
7 tracks...7 greek types of love...is it a stretch to make this connection? the 7 types aren't actually significant culturally and linguistically (and they're not all greek lmao), they're more of a conceptual thing, but if this album has an overarching theme of love i think each track may coincide with each type of love
if i were to make guesses based on aesthetics and song titles, i would say rebirth would be pilautia, self-love
the interlude would be pragma, practical (kinda boring) love. jimin's an idol and showtime is just his job, but it's still a job he loves doing
sgmb would maybe be philia, that friendly love considering jimin referred to the face production team as sgmb
slow dance would be eros, the romantic, sensual love. what's more romantic than slow dancing?
be mine would be ludus, flirty and playful love. idk what it is about the song, but it definitely seem more lighthearted in my mind.
who, our lovely title track, would be agape, unconditional love, but that's mainly because i don't know what to expect for it
ctt could actually be like storge, the familial love because of the "any time you want me," "any time you need me" type vibe ctt had if everything else checks out, but it's hard because it also could've been agape as well.
i'm pretty sure i'm pulling this out of nowhere, but even if this wasn't a concept they went into muse thinking of, it would still be pretty cool if the songs lined up with these concepts !!
Re Smeraldo Garden Marching Band: I keep thinking about Jimin holding up that Sgt. Pepper album--I think he was shown twice with it?--so I listened to the whole thing. I don't know if I've ever heard it all the way through. Wow. 1967? Talk about groundbreaking.
I'm just going to assume Jimin won't be making any drug references. (But, man, that really would break K-pop.)
The first title on the album--the tuning up of the instruments, the absolutely killer riff, the way traditional band instruments are juxtaposed with heavy guitar, the call-and-response...could any of this fit into whatever Jimin's crew and Loco the rapper are planning?
Is it possible to give a respectful nod to the Beatles' classic album while “blending hip-hop elements with the big band sound characterized by a large-scale orchestra?"
Nah, probably not. I'm almost never right about these things, but still...that would be so cool.
Three days to go!
i wouldn't put yourself off so quickly about making predictions. there's always a chance you could be right, even if it's super tiny. that's just how predictions work, we take chances. so take more chances and make more predictions!
jimin taking pictures with the album could've just been jimin taking pics with an album he likes and sharing it with us...or it could've been one of his sources of inspiration, which is what muse is exploring.
the design of muse has a rather vintage flair to it. the cassette tapes, the noise over the announcement photo. he could definitely have a song was a vintage sound to it (and it'd most like be the pre-release or title).
there's only 2 days left now, so we'll find out if our predictions are really right. it's super hard waiting but ik it's gonna be rewarding. i like these types of thoughts!
Hi, it's the Sgt. Pepper Anon again, bringing this description of Smeraldo Garden Marching Band to your attention:
"Sweeping instrumental swells and rap converge in a tongue-and-cheek collab."
Okay, I see them riffing off of each other in a fun, lighthearted, hip-hop, summer kind of way, punctuated by some big. bold brass. (sousaphone, anybody?)
Inspiration: With a Little Help from My Friends, The Beatles.
A step team would be such an awesome addition.
If even one of these things turns out to be true, I will consider it a victory.
ive never listened to the beatles before. maybe i'll have to go give this album a listen before tomorrow night... i have 24 hours to do so, that's plenty of time!
i'll be interested to find out if you're right! i'm excited for you anon
