Here’s the process sorta!

Basically, they let me, a grade 9 at the time, have access to a massive pile of scrap wood and some power tools, and said “do what u want”

so I made a giant mushroom ofc

Heres The Process Sorta!

Heres The Process Sorta!

It was designed by me, and I cut all the wood myself with a power saw, screwed it together, then made the cap out of millboard and paper maché, and painted it. I felt so cool using the power tools lol.

Anyways, it was very enriching and I very much enjoyed making it. I had so much power- the pile of scrap wood was MASSIVE and the possibilities were endless.

I don’t know, but it was honestly so freeing. I was trusted to do dangerous things, and I was allowed to make my project as big and as personal as I wanted. It was so different from normal school, and I loved it. No more was I sitting at a desk with a pencil and a worksheet to do, no, I had a POWER SAW, a bunch of wood and total creative freedom.

Anyways, I think all kids should be given power tools and access giant piles of scrap wood. 10/10 experience.

My Room Has A Giant Mushroom Table In It (the Mushroom Is Meant To Be The Fly Agaric Amanita Muscaria

My room has a giant mushroom table in it (the mushroom is meant to be the fly agaric Amanita muscaria mushroom) that is filled with mushroom identification and mycology books. The table looks weird because I made it myself in grade nine woodworking class (which was a way better elective than jewlery making anyways 😠) and I walked home from school carrying it on my shoulder.

I have four mushroom identification books, two books about mycology, a third that is specifically about the wood wide web (the relationship between mushrooms and trees) and two waterproof mushroom identification brochures. In case anyone doubted that I’m a giant nerd.
