Never Let Thoughts After 9 Pm Win - Tumblr Posts
it’s my insomnia and i get to choose the music (it’s miki matsubara’s “stay with me” by the way, aka my inironically favourite song of all time) let;s talk leosagi, shall we?
all written below is just a personal opinion and night time thoughts, so- yeah. so i kinda already mentioned once how i associate each turtle with season, (at least 2018), and though at its basis it might seem just heavily built on color coding, i kinda stand by it anyway - with donnie representing new begging, “awakening” of spring to me, mikey - joy and thrive and heat of summer, for exmp. i wanna focus on autumn and winter, though, as i associate winter with leo (yes, even within 2018), and autumn with, yes, usagi in fact, i think leo is the only character who i 100% associate with one season within each iteration. Personally i see winter as a time of greatest hardship, since, you know, sirvival and cold and stuff, time that requires the most preparation and strenght. But i think it’s also the time of closest bonds. A time to stay with your loved ones, to be as close to them as possible. And this is actually what Leo’s character is to me, every single time - because no matter what and how he is, an overbearing, “responsible” big brother and leader, or a “self-absorbed” middle child with a mask always on, his main priority will always be his family, his loved ones. All the hardship he will go through, all the pain and suffering - he will do that to ensure his family is safe and sound.
And then there’s autumn.
It’s easy to interpret autumn in a softer way through 2018 Raph. Autumn is a time of harvest, a preparations for winter and so - of a lot of work. It’s a time of work well done and a well deserved rest, a reunion with your loved ones
But what of Usagi?
My first thought on Usagi’s connection to autumn comes from, of course, one of UY volumes, “Autumn”, in which little Usagi frees Aki-Onna, personification of autumn. Then, not gonna lie, i read couple of fics where this theme was explored, and so it left me thinking.
Autumn is a sort of mid-season between summer and winter, a road from summer, time of freedom, work and play, joy, sunshine and nature, to winter, time of home, shelter, peace and tranquility. And with Usagi, it’s a neverending road (i know he eventually leaves the road to serve Noriyuki but let’s turn away from that for the sake of this post, it’s my insomnia and i get to-). It’s a constant way to the place to stop by for winter, but a way that will never reach it’s destination. It’s full of it’s own uniqe, stunning beauty - of something coming to an end but never quite enough. There is no end, since end only comes with winter, to start again with spring.
And there’s only autumn
and it’s heart wretching
