Obi Wan Spoilers - Tumblr Posts
Anakin being a dramatic petty wheezy bastard is my religion
Obi Wan: *meets Leia*
Leia: *hits him in the stomach* *talks back to him* *tries to take charge* *rushes off into danger* *calls him old* *defies him in the name of making bold fashion choices*
Obi Wan: oh that is definitely Anakin and Padme’s daughter.

#NOT JUST A CLONE SOLDIER #NOT JUST ONE OF THE CLONES WHO KILLED OBI-WAN’S ENTIRE FAMILY AND CULTURE AND PEOPLE #BUT A 501ST CLONE #ANAKIN’S BATTALION #’YOU CAN’T RUN FROM HIM, OBI-WAN’ ISN’T JUST ABOUT VADER #ANAKIN’S FINGERPRINTS ARE ON THE ENTIRE GALAXY #FROM LUKE TO LEIA TO THE SABERS IN THE SAND TO OBI-WAN’S DREAMS TO THE PEOPLE HE MEETS ON THE STREET #THERE IS NO RUNNING FROM ANAKIN SKYWALKER’S LEGACY
why the hell did i think Obi Wan’s first time seeing Leia was going to be this big emotional tragic thing full of drama and realization
of COURSE the first time Obi Wan meets a new Skywalker it punches him in his bruised ribs and spits at him like an angry cat
of COURSE 😂😂😂

Me right now, I love her so much. This also includes Baby Luke too btw
I'd just like to appreciate little Leia's actress for a moment. She captured Carrie's manerisms and tone incredibly. Like that scene where Obi-wan talks about Padme and Leia is walking away? I swear she walked just liked Leia does in A New Hope. And her delivery of lines, her sass, her assurance, it's just all so Leia <3
cannot emphasize enough just how much i ADORE that the obi wan-leia dynamic consists of only about ten minutes passing before obi wan is speaking to her in his “anakin for the love of fucking god PLEASE” voice and only about ten minutes more before leia gives him a goddamn heart attack
that one scene where obi-wan tells leia “u don’t need those gloves” and then immediately turns around and buys them for her further cements my theory that he would have been the BEST uncle in another life
star wars found the formula of "tired old man who's struggling with God takes care of a spoiled child" and they're not ever letting it go and you know what they're correct obi-wan and baby leia are the absolute peak of this dynamic
Obi-Wan giving his Eeopie a treat everyday.
Obi-Wan buying back his stolen part and joking about having it cleaned but not getting mad and paying for it anyway.
Obi-Wan saving up his money to buy little Luke a toy starship.
Obi-Wan giving the clone trooper vet money
Obi-Wan buying Leia fun gloves even though they're on the run.
Obi-Wan realizing Leia is attached to the droid and instantly changing his tune.
BUT ALSO
The Jedi saving the Bartender.
Owen staying silent.
The girl giving Obi-Wan free spice.
Haja not only sending Obi-Wan to a ship to escape but also facing down an Inquisitor.
IS THIS SHOW ABOUT KINDNESS? I'M SO HAPPY.
One of the things that was so good was Leia and the Force, that her way isn’t to have lightning fast reflexes because she sees things a moment before they happen or any kind of physical dexterity, but that her way with the Force is that that girl looks at someone and deadass stares right into their fucking soul. She nails her cousin to the wall, almost otherworldly when a calm descends over her and she eviscerates him by exposing his desperate desire to have his father like him, that he just repeats what he’s heard without understanding what it means, she saw into that boy’s soul like it was nothing, this little girl is just as fuckoff power in the Force as her brother is. She does the same with Obi-Wan, she just fucking looks at him and reads him like a book, “You think the less you say, the less you give away, but, really, it’s the opposite.” and she doesn’t seem like a ten year old in that moment and I love how weird the Force makes people in particular moments, that you get used to them being feral chaos gremlins or gentle teachers or the whole gamut of personality types, and then there’s a moment where it’s otherworldly and strange and I love that, but also that Leia’s powers are not like her brothers, her way with the Force is entirely her own and the show was so good at showing that.
I can’t be mad that the Inquisitors seem to have figured out who Darth Vader really is because the show explains exactly how it happened: They’re all vying to be the one to bring Obi-Wan Kenobi in, they’ll literally stab each other for the chance to be the one to impress Vader, which means that Vader is just as obsessed with Obi-Wan as he ever was, and no former Jedi turned Inquisitor can hear Darth Vader talk about Obi-Wan Kenobi, can hear him bring up Obi-Wan in every single goddamned conversation like he does in the movies despite that nobody was fucking talking about him, and not get smacked in the face with it like a giant wet dish rag like “ohhhhhh I have heard this monologue before, goddammit, that’s fucking Anakin Skywalker, isn’t it, isn’t it”.
nothing is funnier to me than owen lars clowning on obi wan. obi wan was a war general. he was in charge of millions of men. he's a jedi master. he was on the jedi council. he was known as one of the greatest jedi alive. he was the sithkiller. and yet. this random moisture farmer who only wants to work his farm and protect his family is like no. your vibes are randic. fuck off. and obi wan does.
Anakin: I can’t tell Obi-Wan about our baby(ies), Padme! He’d obviously reject them and us!
Obi-Wan: [continuing to buy shit for Anakin’s kids even when his entire life has fallen apart and he no longer showers or sleeps in an actual bed]
Underrated scenes from first two Kenobi eps part 1:
10 year old Leia: my beloved childhood companion droid was smashed in front of me during a terrifying situation for me as a small child and now I’m alone 😕
Obi Wan, absentmindedly remembering Anakin bitching about loose wire jokes and R2 being a general pain in the ass: G O O D
Obi Wan, 0.5 seconds later recognizing how assholeish that sounded: i mean—
the fact that these dynamics are completely canon:
obi-wan and luke when they first met: obi-wan recues luke from tuskens when he trespassed their territory. luke and obi-wan have a polite conversation about the jedi. obi-wan gives anakin's lightsaber to luke as a gift.
obi-wan and leia when they first met: leia punches obi-wan in the stomach ON SIGHT. obi-wan rescues leia while she says "I dont trust you" to his face. leia wants to make obi-wan prove he's a jedi by provoking him with her sassy comments. obi-wan is forced to buy leia gloves after just one warning look from the kid.

THIS FUCKING BROKE ME, because Obi-Wan isn’t prone to hallucinations, like okay maybe he has finally so stressed that he cracked under the pressure, but I don’t think so, because we don’t really see any other indications of it, but instead we do see that these two sense each other through the Force, that the MINUTE Obi-Wan uses the Force again, Vader’s eyes snap open and they feel each other. We see later in this episode, Obi-Wan is hit with a tidal wave of a psychic onslaught when he sense Vader. The camera tilts and wobbles and the music vibrates in a way that makes you feel underwater in both scenes. They feel the same. These two people are connected through the Force, we know they always will be, that Vader will sense Obi-Wan on the Death Star, and I think he’s sensing Obi-Wan here as well, just as Obi-Wan is seeing him. But what is destroying me is that Obi-Wan sees him as he knows Anakin, the unburned version, the one who stands with his arms wrapped tightly around his middle, in almost a vulnerable sort of way. The one whose cloak is almost too big for his frame, the one who would fiddle with the giant sleeves of his robes when he was nervous, the one who huddles in them like a shield. The way Obi-Wan remembers him. The way that some core part of Darth Vader still remembers himself as, especially when connecting with Obi-Wan. He’s so full of hate and rage that he cannot admit to this part of himself, whatever good is in him at when he feels Obi-Wan, he can’t admit to it because Obi-Wan is the part of himself that he wants to kill off, Hayden has said that probably half a dozen times in interviews, that he wants to destroy Obi-Wan because he wants to destroy that part of himself. And this is what he wants to destroy. The part of himself that is vulnerable and lonely and not the terrifying murder cyborg, the part that Obi-Wan Kenobi sees, the part that Anakin will always remember so long as Obi-Wan is alive and has hope. Anakin cannot admit to what he’s done, he cannot go back after all of this, Obi-Wan will always know him and what he did, it’s only Luke that can offer him a future that he can accept, because Luke is only the future, not the past, Luke will never see him like this. But this is still the core of who Anakin Skywalker is, the one that Obi-Wan Kenobi sees.
I cannot believe this show forced me to listen to Obi-Wan say Quinlan’s name with the context from this episode of how both he and Leia want to go home. They wonder about their biological families, wish that they knew more about them, but when the gut-punch moment comes, it’s their adoptive family they want to go back to. “I want to go home.” “Quinlan.” I am on the FLOOR because these two narrative parallels miss their adoptive families and, while Leia may be able to go back to hers for awhile, she’s going to end up just like Obi-Wan, who would give anything to see his dead family again, I am IN PAIN.
