My OC's story begins 16 years ago with two 20 year old disasters named Alice and Connor Embus. They are both freshly dropped out of college after a night of a little too much fun accidentally leads to a baby named Alex Embus. Neither have any idea of how to take care of a kid, Connor gets disowned by his family for being so wreckless and becoming a father on accident, and Alice's family weren't the best caretakers in the first place, so they are out of options. They can't find any work, until a friend from the street tells them about a "job" that could get them in the right direction. It turns out that the job was an armed robbery, and what surprised Connor and Alice the most was how much they liked it. Something about pulling off a real crime made them feel like they were wreckless kids again instead of the parents they were supposed to be. They kept going on more and more jobs to feed their kid, until one day they came to the realization that if they didn't have Alex, they could spend all their time being the big time criminals that they could be. So, they dropped Alex off at the Breezy Woods Orphanage, and never looked back.
6 years later, in the heavens above Greece, the Olympian Gods were facing their darkest hour. A moment that has plagued their nightmares for centuries. Mount Etna was starting to erupt, which means that Typhon, the Monster God, is close to escaping. Typhon is a beast of unparalleled power and terror, and is said to be destined to overthrow the throne of Olympus from the Gods. The last time Typhon attacked, Zeus barely survived, and the Monster God was only stopped by trapping him under the volcano. Now, it seems that he has gained enough strength to begin his escape. The Olympic Gods were thrown into a panic. All except for one. Artemis, Goddess of wildlife and the moon, approached. She said that ever since the first attack, she and her army of huntresses have been training for the day of Typhon's return. She declared that she will be the one to slay Typhon, and left with her army for war. However, when Artemis entered Typhon's prison, she discovered that the Monster God had used his power to create what could be best described as an entire ecosystem. Scattered around the large underground world were many types of monsters, similar to the ones long ago, but unrecognized by Artemis. The advance on Typhon was halted when many of the monsters began to attack, almost like on instinct. While Artemis and her huntresses did manage to slay some of the beasts, they were loosing far more than their opponents were. Artemis called a retreat in an effort to save her huntresses, only escaping Typhon's prison with a fifth of the army left. She realized that the monsters, with their unknown numbers and abilities, were going to make it impossible to reach Typhon. It was there that one of the Huntresses suggested a solution to their problem. She said that Artemis should use her power of turning people into animals, and combine it with the monsters' power, essentially giving someone the ability to use the monsters power against them. Artemis agreed, and snuck back into the prison to obtain samples from the monsters that have been slain. Fusing the samples with one of her arrows, she prepared to fire at one of her huntresses, but hesitated. She knew that the latent power the monsters held would be too much, and if put under the stress of war without getting adapted to them, the huntress could go on a rampage that could destroy the others and herself. Deciding to not risk what little army she had left, Artemis fired the arrow into the sky, declaring that the arrow will find one destined to slay Typhon, and until that day comes, they will regroup and stall Typhon.
The arrow would find its target at the Breezy Woods Orphanage, in a now 6 year old Alex Embus. Through his time at the orphanage, he would try his best to fit in with the other kids, and try his best to fit in. That changed when the arrow struck him in the middle of the night. As he woke up the next morning, he immediately noticed that he had changed into a creature, this one being a small red dragon. As he panicked at his transformation, others in the orphanage woke up and witnessed Alex's new form. Alex's roommates were terrified of his new form, and Alex, unable to talk or change back, would see how scared people were of him, and ran away in shame. Alex hid in the forest not far from the orphanage, and with his advanced senses, heard his once friends talk about how they believe he was eaten by a horrible monster. Alex was disheartened by their words, and decided to stop himself from scaring anyone ever again by hiding away in the woods. As time passed, Alex used his powers to survive, and by doing so, discovered how to change back, and other monster forms with unique abilities. Alex felt like he had mastered his powers after 10 years of living in the woods, but no matter how much he practiced, he never trusted himself not to scare anyone by returning to society. Alex would have been completely content with his life in the woods, until another powered individual found him, beat him in battle, and brought him to a place where people who are different could thrive. And from that day forward, Alex found his place in the world by joining the Guardian Alliance.
can people reply or reblog this with a lore dump of your ocs/ocverse pretty please
My OC lore timeline: Part 1, "Pre-Origins"
2500 BC: A snake found its way into the pits of Tartarus, and began feeding on the energy around it, turning itself into a gargantuan monster, who will eventually become known as Typhon.
2000 BC: Typhon emerged from Tartarus, and mates with the strongest monster on the surface, Echidna. They have multiple monster children together.
Typhon grows furious as many of his children are slain by humans sent by the Gods. He begins a siege of Mount Olympus, in hopes of overthrowing the Gods, and making the planet a safe place for his kind.
The battle between Typhon and the Olympic Gods rages on for decades. The clash of power is so severe, it creates worldwide natural disasters.
The negative energy of the battle between Typhon and the Gods grabs the attention of an alien force, called the Nemishade, who finds its way to Earth.
A secret society of magic wielders called "The Unseen Force" becomes determined to use the godly power to create charms filled with the Gods' magic.
One sorcerer named Adad "The Sky Striker" absorbs a country sized storm to create a mask and gauntlets that will give their wearer the power of the storm. These charms are dubbed "The Striker Gear." They are given to a noble warrior in order to protect his kingdom.
1950 BC: Typhon is trapped under Mt. Etna.
The Goddess, Artemis, grows concerned that Typhon will return one day, and begins training her army of huntresses for this.
The warrior trusted with the Striker Gear, begins a world trotting journey to find someone noble to give the charms to. The new wielder must make a vow to only use the charms for noble causes, or risk being destroyed by the charms. Thus, this starts a tradition of each wielder of the Striker Gear to make a similar voyage.
1830 BC: Echidna finds a way to reach her husband's prison. However, instead of trying to escape immediately, Typhon proposes that they bide their time in order to prepare another assault.
Typhon and Echidna use their powers to create an underground environment, and then they begin to selectively breed new monsters for powers that will counter the Gods.
The Nemishade make their first attempt at an invasion after feeding on the energy of Tartarus, but most are killed by members of the Unseen Force, who are armed with the charms made from the godly energy. The remaining forces become scattered, with only some returning to Tartarus.
1939: Concerns about World War 2 cause one of the members of the Unseen Force to confront the current wielder of the Striker Gear in Korea. They claim that the Striker Gear cannot be used in the open, as they would surely be in danger of being taken to be used in the upcoming conflict. The wielder of the Striker Gear fakes his death, and flees with his family, in an attempt to hide the charms.
1973: Detective Marcus Batters is framed for murder. He is killed in prison by a criminal that Detective Batters helped catch. Marcus' 9 year-old son, Quincy Batters, is inspired to take up detective work in order to find the person who framed his father.
OC Lore Timeline: Part 2, "Origins"
2003: Alice and Connor Embus give birth to their unexpected son, Alex. Neither parent have sufficient ways of providing for their child, so they turn to crime. However, they both develop a love of organized crime, and soon drop their 4 month old baby off at Breezy Hills Orphanage to focus on their new passion.
A military engineer named Brendan Harp has a child with his wife, Adrienne Harp, who is a private body guard. The child is named Liza Harp.
Brendan Harp creates the Guardian Chip, a device that controls a swarm of nanobots to repair, replace, or create any piece of technology in its database.
2004: Adrienne Harp is killed by a bombing, while assigned to protect the leader of a country at war discussing a peace treaty. In his grief, Brendan Harp takes his daughter, and his work, and isolates himself. The loss of his wife drives him crazy, and he formulates a plan to force the world under a single rule, his own. He modifies the Guardian Chip, and surgically implants the chip into the head of Liza, and starts training her to become his own war machine.
2009: Signs of Typhon's escape cause the Gods to become worried. Artemis and her huntress army begin their assault on Typhon, but upon entering his prison, are surprised to find an army of various monsters. Despite their best efforts, Artemis and her forces could only kill a handful of monsters before heavy loss on their part makes them retreat.
Artemis gets an idea from one of her remaining huntresses to use Typhon's own power against him. So, gathering samples from the monsters they managed to slay, and one of her magic arrows, she visited Hephaestus, God of Forge, to put them together. The project is a success, and Hephaestus claims that the one destined to defeat Typhon will be given the power and forms of the monsters when struck by the arrow. Artemis fires the arrow, expecting one of her huntresses to be struck, but the arrow flew in a new path, and eventually, in the middle of the night, found its way to the sleeping form of Alex Embus.
Alex is immediately transformed into a monster when struck by the arrow. He is frightened when he wakes up to find he has been turned into a monster. His panic wakes up the other children of the orphanage, who react with shock, fear, and hostility, believing Alex was eaten by the monster in his bed. Alex is chased out of the orphanage, into the nearby woods.
Alex eventually learns to return to his human form, but fear of rejection from society keeps him from returning. He decides to live in the woods, learning to control his new powers, and relying on them to survive.
Artemis finds out that Alex has been struck by the arrow, and decides to bide her time until Alex has better control over his new powers to call him to fight Typhon.
2010: Due to impatience, Brendan Harp deems Liza ready for action. He travels to the nearest city, a place named Copper Mound, and tells Liza to level it. However, Liza freezes up due to fear and guilt. When Brendan sees this, he calls Liza a failed experiment, and abandons her to begin his next plan. Liza is then found by Detective Quincy Batters, who adops the young girl a few months later due to their attachment to each other.
2015: After working with her powers, and being inspired by her adopted father, Liza expresses interests in becoming a superhero. At first, Quincy declines, but after Liza catches many wanted criminals on her own, Quincy eventually agrees to let her help with crime fighting, so long as he is with her. Liza becomes the very first recognized superhero working with the police, under the alias "Artillo".
2019: Artillo is following some car thieves who were reported to have run into a heavily wooded area. While searching for the criminals, she instead runs into Alex in monster form. A fight between the two breaks out, until Alex briefly reveals his human form to Artillo. Upon this discovery, Quincy orders Artillo to take Alex back to headquarters, which she does by tranquilizing Alex.
Alex is offered to be taken in by Quincy as well, and offered the same position as Artillo, so they could work as a team. Alex, upon realizing that Quincy is not afraid of him, and rather asking for his company, agrees. He takes the alias of "Oddity".
During some tests to better understand Alex's powers, a lab rat is given a similar ability to Alex, being able to transform into a more monsterous, powerful form. The rat is then named Dart and taken in as Alex's pet.
Lucas Kim, a prodigious martial arts student, and descendant of the last wielder of the Striker Gear, hears reports of a small team of super-powered individuals. Feeling inspired to bring the Striker Gear out of hiding, he takes the Striker Gear and makes his way toward Copper Mound, hoping to join the team.
OC Lore Timeline: Part 3, "Build-up"
2019: The arrival of Lucas Kim makes Quincy question if there are other superpowered individuals, especially those of younger ages in the world. Quincy sets the "Guardian Alliance" project into motion. This project starts a worldwide search for younger superpowered individuals with nowhere else to go, and offers them a safe place, even if they don't want to become superheroes.
A scientist working under Quincy, Dr. Theodore Athanasiou, doubts the logic of the "Guardian Alliance" project, and believes that creating an army of heroes from the ones already present would be more logical. Thus, he steals DNA from Liza, Alex, and Lucas, and begins "Project Magnum Opus".
A rise in sightings of highly advanced robots causes Liza to investigate, believing that her Dr. Brendan Harp is likely planning something big. Her suspicions are confirmed when an advanced combat android attacks the headquarters, with the technology being very similar to the Guardian Chip.
2020: The remaining Nemishade start integrating back into the world. By using a discarded soul in Tartarus as a base, they create a human persona named Clayton Hyburn. They observe modern society from the shadows in order to blend in.
A race of benevolent, energy based aliens called Vigilites arrive on Earth, after signs of the Nemishade, who have thought to have been destroyed, begin appearing on Earth. The small battalion integrate into the Guardian Alliance.
A strange sound begins to call Alex at night. He is unsure what the sound is, so he begins a solo investigation. While he doesn't discover the source of the sound, he does meet Clayton Hyburn, and suspects him to be trouble.
With the "Guardian Alliance" project bringing in many new superpowered individuals, a new base is formed. It is dubbed, "The Hotspot".
Liza tracks a string of strange technology sales, and eventually corners her father, bringing him in, and keeping him at The Hotspot, despite concerns for Liza's mental health. Liza is determined to show her father that she is a much better person without his influence.
During another investigation of the sound he hears at night, Alex discovers Clayton stealing a gemstone from a museum. Before Alex can apprehend him, Clayton uses a spell and the gemstone to create a twisted duplicate of Oddity, named Feral. Feral is revealed to have monster forms that Oddity does not have access to, and in the resulting battle, both Clayton and Feral escape.
2021: Artillo and Oddity discover the location of Dr. Theodore Athanasiou, and the attempted clones of them that were intended to be used in "Project Magnum Opus". Only one clone, the clone of Oddity, managed to survive. Dr. Athanasiou was arrested, and the clone, who resembled a little girl, was given the name Kimberly, and taken in by the Guardian Alliance.
During yet another solo investigation, Oddity discovered the whereabouts of his biological parents, and their position as crime bosses. He managed to reach them, where they revealed that they were aware of his identity, and offered for him to join their crime family. Oddity refused, but his parents also revealed that they had already adopted Feral as their new son, and escaped by having Feral attack.
After months of trying and failing to make herself seem successful in her father's eyes, Liza questions her worth on the team. However, when Dr. Harp starts hacking into the technology in The Hotspot, he is thwarted by Liza, and taken to a more secure containment cell. After this, Liza is given the role of Leader of the Guardian Alliance, after Quincy declares his retirement.
I have an ocverse where’s I’ve essentially just mashed all my favorite fandoms into one abomination and added my OCs in there. I’ve specifically made it where basically All gods from All pantheons exist in some form, but their powers are limited to the regions they hail from and the amount of ppl who worship them. I’ve also added some of my own for flavor.
And by all gods I do technically mean all of them. And by ‘technically’ I mean that they were there but now they are either dead or have lost their godliness for whatever reason. I haven’t quite thought of which gods to throw into one of two bucket, except for one.
God, as in the one from the Bible, in my ocverse is dead. I took the line about him being a jealous god and rolled with it. Due to his jealousy the other gods banded together to usurp him and in the process he parishad. I also decide to go down the path of Lucifer getting redeemed or something and him taking Gods place as ruler of heaven.
Anyways I’m also having to figure out how my own god OCs and their whole religious beliefs and such works and all that. I have actually put a good amount of thought into that. One of the things I’ve thought of is how their beliefs react and such with other religions such as Christianity. Which is where I get back to God. Now my OCs, their names are Pearl & Quartz btw, run their shit in a way that allows their followers to worship other gods freely with few exceptions. They have very relaxed and clear rules and preach kindness, love, acceptance of all or whatever but have no tolerance for hurting others, which is the basis of Christianity. Now you’d probably think that this is all swell and good and people would just tack their teachings onto their preexisting ones but you’d be wrong. Remember, I said God is a jealous god and he did not appreciate the new competition from the fledgling gods. While the other gods didn’t really mind Pearl & Quartz, God very much did and made a big fuss about it which was the catalyst to his eventual demise.
Now after God dies and Lucifer takes over things change. Lucifer takes a much more chilled out approach to ruling heaven and one of the things he does is basically endorse Pearl & Quartz. His endorsement ends up creating a new sect of Christianity which still follows the teachings of the Bible, but also preaches the importance of accepting others to the point where if you aren’t a good and accepting person you will get kicked out of the church. This is still Christianity after all. Most other sects don’t particularly change.
This has been a synopsis of Christianity in my ocverse. I have to write this down and share it so I don’t feel quite as insane as I actually am. And so I can have it to remind me on what world building I’ve already set in place.
