We went to Oktoberfest with my friends on the first day it opened. Somehow we managed to get places on the balkony in Augustiner tent. The atmosphere was crazy as always with Bavarian music and all the people dancing on the benches with traditional one-litre beer mug in their hands — maß.
After half a maß I had to go downstairs and make some room for more beer. Being 5’7” I felt like a dwarf squeezing through the crowd of tall German men. Tall fit blond guys with chiselled forearms, tall massive men with dark beards and hairy chests visible from beneath their shirts with few top buttons undone, bulky guys with muscular frames and barrel-like bellies. He gulped half a mug of beer in a few seconds and looked down at me. He leaned closer to me and yelled “Wie gefällt’s dir hier?!” trying to outvoice the music.
“Sorry… I don’t speak German” I yelled in reaponse, still being hold in a tight hug with my face pressed against the giants hairy pec.
“Vear are you from?!” he asked with a thick German accent.
