Aurora's Ornn Plushie

Quickly typed up a pattern since it's still fresh in my mind :)
Materials
Yarn:
- Dark&light brown, dark blue, dark red, gold, all worsted weight
- Dark red furry yarn (I found mine here, not an ad but it took me a while to find the right-ish color. they also have a really nice metallic gold yarn)
Hooks: 3.75mm & 5.5mm
10mm safety eyes *2 and a safety nose
Terminology:
MR: magic ring
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
inc: increase
inv-dec: invisible decrease
BLO: back loop only
sc3tog: three stiches together
slst: slip stich
ch: chain
Horns (make 2)
Dark brown, 3.75mm hook
R1: MR 4 sc
R2: BLO sc in each st
R3: BLO 4 inc
R4-R5: BLO sc in each st
R6: BLO 4*[inc, sc]
R7-R8: BLO sc in each st (2rows)
R9: BLO 4*[inc, 2sc]
R10-R12: BLO sc in each st (3rows)
R13: BLO 4*[inc, 3sc]
R14-R16: BLO sc in each st (3rows)
R17: BLO 4*[inc, 4sc]
R18-R23: BLO sc in each st (6rows)
R24: [2sc, inv-dec] to end of row
Stuff the horn (not too tight since you’ll need to curl the horn later)
R25: sc3tog*6 (for a flatter dec)
Tie off and sew up the hole
Slst on the last front loop of R23, slst in all the unworked front loops through R1. Tie off
To create the curl of the horns, follow the instructions in this video: https://youtu.be/pDoHXg5dvRQ?t=353
The example in the video is a pretty straightforward curl, to create more of a twist like Ornn's horn, weave the yarn down straight from R23-R17, then continue at a bit of an angle - you can twist the horn by hand and see where the ridges bunch up, that’s where the thread goes
Body
Work with two strands at the same time: dark red furry yarn and dark red worsted yarn in 5.5mm hook
R1: MR 6 sc
R2: inc *6
R3: [sc, inc]*6
R4: [2sc, inc]*6
R5: sc in each st
R6: [3sc, inc]*6
R7: [4sc, inc]*6
R8: [5sc, inc]*6
R9-R11: sc in each st
R12: [5sc, inv-dec]*6
R13: [4sc, inv-dec]*6
R14: [3sc, inv-dec]*6
R15: [2sc, inv-dec]*6
R16: [sc, inv-dec]*6
Start stuffing the body, place the safety eyes and nose in around R7, but since we are working with two strands of yarn, there's a bit more flexibility to place safety eyes. Move them around to see where fits best :)
R17: inv-dec*6
Tie off and weave in ends.
Legs (make 2)
*For a cleaner color change, slst around with the new color, then BLO sc around. (counts as one round of the new color)
Start with light brown, 3.75mm hook
R1: MR 6 sc
R2: inc*6
R3: [sc, inc]*6
R4: BLO sc in each st
R5-R6: sc in each st (2 rows), switch to dark brown at the last st
R7-R14: sc in each st (8 rows)
Tie off, stuff, and sew together the two sides of the opening
Left Arm
Start with dark blue, 3.75mm hook
R1: MR 6 sc
R2: inc*6
R3: BLO sc in each st
R4-R5: sc in each st (2 rows), switch to gold at the last st
R6: sc in each st, switch back to dark blue at the last st
R7-R10: sc in each st (4 rows)
Tie off, stuff, and sew together the two sides of the opening
Right arm
Start with dark red worsted, 3.5mm hook
R1: MR 6 sc
R2: inc*6
R3: BLO sc in each st
R4: sc in each st, switch to dark blue at last st
R5-R10: sc in each st (6 rows)
Tie off, stuff, and sew together the two sides of the opening
Chest fluff
Dark red furry yarn, 5.5mm hook
R1: Ch 9, turn
R2: 2sc, hdc, [hdc, dc in same st], [hdc, dc in same st], hdc, 2sc, tie off and leave long tail for sewing
Eyebrows (make 2)
Dark red furry yarn, 5.5mm hook
Chain 7, turn and sc 3. Tie off and sew with the thicker part on top of the eyes.
Assemble:
Beard
cut 12 pieces of ~10 cm yarn, use tapestry needle to thread them through the st where the nose is. Tie together with golden yarn.
* for a more secure tie, I used a piece of sewing thread to tie, and then wrapped the golden yarn over
* you can weave the loose gold yarn back into the body as an anchor for the beard braids
(I assembled the rest by eye so there’s nothing too strict about it)
Sew the horns on first since the face is pretty much done so you can see the placement better
Then sew each arm roughly under where the golden ties of the braids are. Use the chest fluff to cover up the stitches where the arm connects to the body. Use the fluffy yarn to sew on the fluff so everything blends together.
Sew on the legs last horizontally, they should slot pretty well between the body and arms.
And that's it! Good luck with your Ornn making :)
Also, this is my first time making a pattern so please lmk if anything's unclear!
