Penelope X Colin - Tumblr Posts
In RMB the deeper Colin fell in love the more he kept going on about how crazy it was that Penelope hadn’t been snapped up yet, how beautiful and funny and perfect she was, how every other man had to be blind and dumb not to see how great she was. Why would I want a regressive jealous caveman when I could have “BEHOLD my wife is hot and awesome and you should all be jealous of ME for getting to have her! Just LOOK at her!” He was so proud of her whenever she put herself out there. Carriage Colin yes. Mirror Colin yes.
“Please everyone bow down to my beautiful talented clever hottie of a wife who I’m going to make out with on this balcony in front of everyone and then leave this party early with” Colin? Hell yes.
Being jealous of her career never bothered me because it’s a normal human flaw and characters need them. Colin recognized immediately that he was being jealous and why, and it was clear that his jealousy wasn’t why he wanted her to stop writing LW. He admired her talents, he just had a fear that her writing gossip was too dangerous. Adding that to his character gave him something realistic to work through, and I hope the show keeps it.
colin being jealous of penelope’s legacy is so much more interesting to me than colin being jealous of any suitors so im glad they’ve at least kept my lovely fail girl absolutely besotted with colin’s eyes and kindness and losing the idgaf war bc colin begging and suffering bc of jealousy of other men hits WAAAAAY less harder than colin yearning for his best friend who’s trying to marry other people, being absolutely betrayed by her while also confused why she won’t marry HIM, then realizing he’s jealous of her legacy but that’s stupid and letting go of that to focus on his own legacy.
I’m gatekeeping Colin Bridgerton from people who are obsessed with the idea of Penelope making him jealous with other suitors, even if that means I have to gatekeep him from Shonda Rhimes herself!!!
Angry Penelope is great but I actually cannot wait for angry Colin. He’s actually been through a lot and has never actually expressed any anger over any of it either. And not only just directed at Pen for Whistledown or anything, because WTF do you mean his family hardly ever return his letters???? What else could they possibly be doing, they have servants and no electricity!!!
This pic gives me hope that Colin also gets his chance to have his big feelings too, and I know Luke N is going to deliver in those scenes.

Colin: Perhaps we should go somewhere private?
Penelope: Because I embarrass you???
Colin literally any other time they’re in public:

Penelope!!!! GIRL!!!! I’m sorry but her insecurities were eating her UP she was projecting so hard. I love her though, it’s so real.
Like if you wondered why Colin was making that “WTF is she talking about and why would she even think that?” face when she said that…this is why. If anything Colin has no shame at all, this is inappropriate public behavior! Scandalous!!!
Colin Bridgerton isn’t the best and sweetest and kindest guy because he never does anything wrong, he’s the best and sweetest and kindest guy because of how he acts when he realizes he messed up. Green flags only.
Making mistakes, saying something stupid or careless, relationship conflict etc- it’s normal, it happens to everyone. But it’s how you react to those mistakes that speak to your character. Two seasons in and we’ve already seen that Colin is always accountable for when he feels like he hurt someone, even when it’s not his fault, and goes out of his way to try to make amends. He’s also not stubborn, he doesn’t drag his feet when it comes to apologizing, and he doesn’t double down just because he can’t stand to be wrong.
When he realizes how much he hurt Penelope no one is going to make Colin suffer as much as Colin is going to make himself suffer, because he won’t take it lightly or blow off Penelope’s concerns. Even the way he tries to fix Penelope’s problem shows his ability to take responsibility and try to partner with her to find a solution (even if the solution is just…marry her yourself Colin!!!).
The Colin needs to be humbled discourse is wild, like did we not watch the same 2 seasons? That man nearly locked himself into one of the most toxic marriages in the series just because he thought she was the first person to ever take him seriously, had a flop Eat Pray Love trip around Greece where he just got high, stared at grass and avoided making eye contact with women, and then came back to England at 22 years old, with no money and no prospects, already a burden to his parents, and frightened. He’s HUMBLED.
Not to mention he cannot have a conversation with Penelope without revealing his biggest insecurities to her, like that he feels aimless and purposeless, that his self confidence was in the tank after Marina and it changed how he saw himself, that he had to practice the speech he made to cousin Jack because he was nervous, and even in the midst of Penelope being angry at him he couldn’t help but let it slip that his own family barely kept in contact with him when he was abroad. If anything Penelope being mad at him might be what breaks him completely. My guy is a walking cry for help (and I love him for it.)
I never want to hear “Show Colin isn’t like book Colin at all” when this is literally book Colin:

Desperately trying to come up with a cool one liner to say before kissing Penelope, literally getting too horny for words, and unable to think of anything because he’s so into it his mind goes blank.
Colin trying to play things cool and failing is 100% in character for him across book and TV. This is plant pun Colin, this is “I practiced my speech to Cousin Jack for you” Colin, this is “you said one nice thing to me and now I must drown myself in lemonade” Colin. Yeah he’s popular and charming and cute but he’s also a flop and a nerd, it’s called the duality of man lmfao.

Nicola and Luke talking about their sex scenes constantly is actually 💯 what Polin are like as a couple. Penelope did marry Colin “My Wife” Bridgerton, king of PDA after all.

You will never catch me rooting for this couple when I know their child will come out looking like Yukon Cornelius.

Because people are so fixated on making Colin beg for Penelope that they’ll even throw Penelope’s own character development under the bus.
Penelope has a part to play in why their relationship dynamic is the way it is in the show. It’s not all on Colin to fix it. Our girl has to start stepping up!!
Why is everyone so mad about the first kiss scene and the possibility of it being exactly like the book?
It's an important part of Penelope's character development journey as to ASK Colin for it.
"Forget I said anything. (...) No, I'm not going to forget it. I've spent my life forgetting things, not saying them, never telling anyone What I really want."
She's finally stepping in, finally being herself, finally being able to ask for things and do stuff she really wants. No more people pleaser approach. That's a powerfull shift!
I understand, how pleasant and powerfull it would be, if Colin iniciated it, but you have to remember, everything changes for him after this moment. For her, right the opposite happens - she's letting go and THAT is the dynamic that's about to be *chef's kiss*.

Penelope, girl… I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this…

BRIDGERTON | SEASON 1 (2020)
Lord bless our souls. I've only been here for five days and I don't think can make it to Thursday. It's too far away. I need it now, I'm like a feral dog 🥲
i need to know how many people had the same thought as i did a week ago..
"i don't think i'd like bridgerton, it doesn't seem like my kind of show"
and now, after binge watching and becoming polin-obsessed, you want to punch previous you in the face for that thought
In the Featherington gardens
Colin: This is where we were the night we fell in love.
Penelope: Colin.
Colin: The night we kissed for 15 seconds and I became obsessed with you forever.
I’m sorry, but if at the end of Bridgerton S3 doesn’t have Pen and Colin hosting a masquerade ball and Benedict dancing with a woman in silver and her running away at the end of the episode and her butler/maid friend asks her; “Everything alright, Miss Beckett?” and then the episode cuts to black. I. Will. Riot.

YES!!!!!!!! That would be perfect!

So, I know we all remember that ICONIC scene of Queen Charlotte talking to her children in 1x01 (I think), well, my school nurse had to give a sex assembly to the grade 11s and the way she started it off was saying; "alright, I would like to start with a little exercise, virgins to the right of my, everyone else to the left of me." everyone burst out laughing.

Just RSVPd to this, knowing fully well that I will have to stay up until 1am on a school night to do this, and I will most likely get in trouble.
I feel like at the end of Bridgerton season 3, or when Pen and Colin FINALLY marry, we'll see Phillip Crane at the Polin wedding, due to the fact that Colin and Phillip really hit it off and most likely became friends. So most likely at the wedding reception, Phillip will be by himself (as his wife did not wish to come to the wedding or she did) and he catches Eloise's eye, who then starts talking with him as she has been badgered by her mother for 2 years now to find a husband, and this man seems somewhat interesting, as he himself is a wallflower (quite unusual for a man). The two start talking and he informs her that he's from Pen's side of the family (via marriage) but Colin invited him to the wedding. They exchange address and start corresponding.
