I want to illustrate some Ford adventures in other dimensions. And I want to color, color and color..

Portal Ford is ready to enter the dimension known as "Shuto Con!" What oddities will he find there? Who knows! The one on the right is w/o the filter on by the way.

Made myself a new lock screen because my old one is also a galaxy Ford and I have lots of feelings about portal!Ford… like he was ready to die in order to protect the multiverse. Journal 3 didn’t talk that much about fords feelings about his time in the portal but the little it does say says a lot. He spent 30 years lost in an insane place alone and hunted down, and on the run but is still willing to go after bill and die to fix his mistakes. I have too many feelings about ford and they’re all over the place, so I drew him holding a forming dimension, like a star coming into existence.

Also I listened to Adam Young’s soundtracks Project Excelsior in particular, it’s really atmospheric.

for all 30 years ford was in the portal I bet he only used his brain like, twice, but stat buffed his charisma, def, and atk. stan had to take up the brain he had no choice 😔

*smashes through your door* FORD PROBABLY SMOKED CIGARETTES BC HE'S DUMB LIKE THAT AND ONLY HAD TO QUIT WHEN HE GOT PUSHED THROUGH THE PORTAL SO IN YET ANOTHER WAY (OTHER THAN FINALLY DEFEATING BILL) STANLEY SAVED FORD'S LIFE BY FORCING HIM TO QUIT

as much as I adore NoPortal!Ford who stays with Stan and Fidds, within canon, the 30 years Ford spends on his own are fucking crucial to his character development. in that he gets all the weirdness and adventure he could possibly ask for- and he figures out he prefers home. it shows him a much, much crueler world and makes him appreciate kindness

given how hardheaded and stubborn he is, only experience could make him grow the fuck up and realize there's so much more to life than chasing ideas

both Ford and Stan are immature just in wildly different ways, and we see them both grow up during their time on the show. but none of that would've been possible without the consequences of their actions wearing them down for three decades

A Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day rec-list

So, I heard people are celebrating fanfic authors today, and I wanted to take the time to share some of my all-time favorites! (all are Gravity Falls)

Blind Faith, by @pinesinthewoods

Behold, the fic that firmly dragged me into the Gravity Falls fandom! I remember scrolling through GF fics on Ao3 for the first time, and this was one of the very first I read. It’s dark, has heaps of glorious Stan twin angst, and still lingers in my mind to this day.

Towards the Sun, by @pinesinthewoods and @notthistimespock

Out of every single fic I’ve ever read, this one succeeds the most in getting inside the character’s heads. A bit of a canon divergence where, to save Stanley, Ford must confront his brother’s darker side within the mindscape. (Admission: I cried on multiple occasions while reading this.)

Flat Dreams, by PengyChan

I once told myself I’d never feel pity for a triangle. I was bitterly wrong. An amazing imagining of Bill’s childhood, early life, and rise to power… with lots of inspiration from Edwin A. Abbott’s Flatland. 

Stars and Trees, by jikanet_tanaka

A set of small scenes and vignettes of Stan’s life, from childhood to present. All of them are focused on the theme of family, and how Stanley relates to the idea over time. They’re very feels-y and sweet, and characterize Stan so well! 

The Wind in Visions, by @the-stan-twin and @the-ford-twin

Ah, where do I start with this? Probably the most pure examples of Fiddauthor and Mabifica I can think of. I adore the heaps and heaps of Pines family bonding in this and the slice-of-life feel it has… and yet there’s this feeling of something serious building in the horizon, and wow, I can’t wait to see what happens next with that!

The most fascinating take I’ve seen on Ford’s multiverse years. It features a very well developed OC, (honestly one of the best I’ve seen in this fandom), who becomes Ford’s traveling partner. Their interplay is equal parts hilarious and emotional at times, and is very deep without seeming forced. I really recommend this- it could use SO much more love! (It only has about 100 hits… and that needs to be changed ASAP! :D)
