Ngl it kind of irks me when people say regarding Elise's breakdown at the end of 06
"Elise would've let the whole world end if Sonic hadn't said anything and convinced her to blow out the flame."
Because like.... no?
Elise knew what had to be done. She knew she had to blow out the flame. She did care. It wasn't a matter of "Screw the world I'm gonna let it be destroyed" It was "I don't want to, but I know I have to."
And you can see the exact moment the realization dawns on her.
There's a reason Sonic didn't need to tell her specifically to blow out the flame or try to convince her why she needed to do it, because she knew what she had to do and Sonic knew she would do what was right, and that this was incredibly hard for her (keep in mind Sonic himself wasn't happy about what had to be done). Sonic simply gave her encouragement during her breakdown.
She wasn't actively planning on letting the world end, it was an emotional outburst and hesitation. She hesitated. And I certaintly don't blame her for breaking down and hesitating in that moment considering all the stress that was on her and that she had to bottle up her emotions for a decade.
From her body language alone, she looked defeated, she knew it was inevitable. Did you see the way she hung her head down?
Her outburst almost came across as a desperate cry for help to me. She didn't want to lose Sonic but she knew she had to blow out the fame.
Do you want to know the most likely thing that would've happened if Sonic didn't say anything?
Elise more than likely would've continued to cry her eyes out while Sonic just stood there and watched her cry, and then eventually she would've calmed down and blown it out anyway.
And it would've been super akward.
People really reach for anything to try to crap on Elise's character. Like, oh yes, how dare she have an emotional breakdown. How dare she hesitate before she loses someone she loves and cares deeply about and wouldn't even remember them. And how dare Sonic say something to her during her breakdown to help her feel better. Do people really expect her to just say "Oh bye Sonic" and blow out the flame no problem?
Elise isn't selfish. The fact she was able to push past her grief and still do what she knew was right just shows how selfless she is.
SonElise Week Day 4: Alternate timeline

I didn't really know what to do for this prompt, so I redrew an idea from a previous post 😅
Alternate timeline were instead of Elise and Sonic being transported to the flame of hope after the Solaris fight, it's just Sonic who gets transported.
Sonic realizes he has to blow out the flame without being able to say goodbye to Elise... he won't be able to see her smile one last time before he forgets everything... it hurts to think about...
and... he hesitates.
This isn't how he wanted this adventure to end.... not like this...
...but he knows what has to be done. He has to blow the flame out, whether he likes it or not.
....poor Sonic...

I remember Pariah deadass saying that he'd replace Elise with Sally, lmao. (the segment ends at 42:25, but the whole thing needs to be listened to)
And like. I get some of his points. I get that Elise being out of the picture for most of the story limits her screentime with Sonic. I'm also not a big fan of her major role in the story being an object to be kidnapped. But his solutions are... ehh. He's not even trying respecting the original vision. He just says "no Elise is a stupid character because she doesn't do anything and she doesn't sass back to Sonic. I'd make her a sassy action girl, so Sally."
ngl at this point I'm sick of sassy female characters putting men into their place and that passing off as automatically good, #feminist writing. Elise can still be a girl wearing a queenly mask and learning to have fun. She can have a cute dynamic with Sonic because they're already opposites - maybe Elise doesn't sass back but at first she keeps a cold façade that Sonic pokes to make her open up, and then she does. Sonic might think at first that she doesn't like him but learn to know her better. You can keep the original idea and flesh it out without having to flatten Elise into Sally X.0. I don't know, Pariah's non-solution really rubbed me the wrong way.

I liked her as a character and I’m sorry that some people dislike her in Sonic 06!
I also hope that Sonic 06 gets a Movie adaptation and we can see her as a character!
