Qimir - Tumblr Posts
"When you lose everything, you're finally free." is an absolutely perfect line, because it's nonsense with everything else Qimir tries to lure Osha with in this episode. He plays on how she feels like she loves people too much, like oh she loves people and that makes her a bad Jedi (never mind that Jedi have always said that loving people is a good thing), she loves people who will never love her back, implying that if she became a Sith she could love people all she wants, she could be with people who love her back the way she wants them to love her back. But then follows it up with losing everything is freedom, which means having no connections to anyone is freedom to him, having no one to care about is freedom to him, having no one to love is freedom to him, and, yeah, that's the Sith philosophy right there. You say that you'll be able to love people, except you hurt all those you love because that's what the dark side does. You live on fear and anger and hate, you try to clutch onto them so tightly that you break them and yourself, you lose them because you refuse to ever let go, that's the message of Star Wars, that you need to be able to let go when the moment comes, you can't own someone, you can't live and die based on that love consuming you. The Sith philosophy is saying, come to the dark side, you'll be free. But that freedom is a freedom from everything, it's a freedom that has nothing, no one to love, no one to share things with, to only ever desperately crave more and more and more, but nothing is ever enough, nothing ever satisfies. It sounds alluring because the freedom to do "whatever you want to do" sounds great--right up until you don't owe anything to anyone and thus they don't owe anything to you and suddenly you have nothing. But, hey, you're free right? Man, no thanks to that.
I think the shock and brutality of the smash cut to Jecki (and Yord) dead in the jungle is meant to jumpscare us out of being too enraptured with Qimir or lulled into the “I’m just a guy who is making soup” routine. He is seducing the audience at the same time as Osha, so lest you forget, here are Jecki and Yord abandoned and covered in flies.
New baby girl just dropped 😍😍😍🥵🥵🥵

MANNY JACINTO as QIMIR The Acolyte 1x06, "Teach / Corrupt"
Oh my 😳😳😍😍🔥🔥

Darkness for dreams
I've seen a little trend of (mostly) men being shocked and annoyed at how much sensuality was in this newest episode of The Acolyte and I think it's time to re-introduce 'the male gaze' vs 'the female gaze' and how prevalent it is in fiction.
Those same guys don't complain when women are shown topless in bed, the sheet only covering their ass as the full curve of their back is illuminated while the male lead buttons up his pants and smizes forlornly out the window.
They don't bat an eye at 'Slave Leia's' costume or James' Bond's exploits or the gratuitous nudity and sex in Game of Thrones centered on the male gaze. They don't question dehydrated men with bulging veins screaming at their enemies as they flex.
But the moment there's sensuality for the gaze of the fem lead, all of a sudden it's "soapy" it's "fanfic" it's "ridiculous".
Why is that? Why are you so ok with sexuality when it's from the male gaze, but the MOMENT it switches to female, you think it's not to be taken seriously anymore? All of a sudden, it's not 'fit for the public', it's to be relegated to the dark corners of the internet and not spoken of and MOST DEFINITELY shouldn't find it's way onto our screens.
Was Qimir in that episode sexy as fuck? Yeah. Was that what the episode was about? Partially - but it was so much more than that, too. Unlike movies where women are just there to be ogled at by the male audience and have nothing of importance going on with the plot, the Acolyte showed both the man and woman in those scenes as important players in this story with depth and nuance that yes, included sexuality, but was not limited to it.
Men jack off to 'slave Leia' all the time - why is it suddenly disgusting when a man shows up on screen in a sexy way that's NOT dehumanizing to him? Would you have preferred Qimir in a slave costume being held hostage by the Hutts? (feel free to draw fan art of that *cough* what was that? I didn't say anything *cough*) Would that have made it 'not fanfic' to you? Or are only women relegated to those roles? Only women are allowed to skinny dip in the ocean and then talk to the MALE lead all dripping wet and naked. For a man to do that is...well....it's silly!!! It's fanfic!! That's not what we're supposed to see!!

THE ACOLYTE, 1x05, "Night" (2024)
I knew you..
..in another life.
Disney's decision to cancel The Acolyte after just one season is utterly baffling. Imagine creating a show set in the High Republic era, an unexplored period in star wars lore, bringing fresh perspectives and focusing on new, intriguing characters and themes—only to cancel it. It's even more frustrating when you consider that the show faced backlash from the beginning mainly from alt-right and racist fans who couldn't handle a series that dared to be diverse and multilayered. By caving to the pressure of those who oppose diversity, Disney is essentially giving a big FUCK YOU to the rest of the fans who were excited for something new and meaningful in the SW universe.
The Acolyte, while imperfect, is a solid setup for what could have been much more. It had so much potential to expand the star wars franchise in new and exciting directions. but of course it wasn't given the chance to grow its audience because some good for nothing incels felt threatened by the inclusion of characters who don't fit the traditional white male dominated narrative that Disney has been feeding us for years.
Fine Disney. Stick with your incels and racist fans. But eventually your nostalgia driven empty projects will wear thin and no amount of CGI young Luke Skywalker or green puppets will be able to save your ass. You fucking cowards.
"Hahaha it cost $180mil-"
Lower the budget.
"It starting in the top ten and ending in the top ten didn't justify the cost-"
So, lower. the. budget.
"Yeah TCW was initially poorly received, but it didn't cost-"
90% of entertainment currently being made is vastly overproduced and overvalued and overpriced. It is unreasonable to compare the cost of a live action show made by the largest entertainment corporation in the world in 2024 to a cartoon made nearly 20 years ago by fucking Cartoon Network.
Additionally, s1 had to build props/sets etc. If they haven't already Destroyed everything, there's no reason it couldn't have been reused.
Hell, I watched Once Upon a Time. I watched the Prequels. You think I give a fuck if they use green-screen to cut costs?
No, I do not.
Bring back the actors AND the writers and let them finish the story. Give them a reasonable amount of Time to do it in instead of 3hrs.

I can’t help but feel devastated for Amandla Stenberg & Manny Jacinto as well. They have so clearly voiced their support and love for these characters and story. Amandla especially has said time and time again how she is such a huge Star Wars fan. You can tell it wasn’t just a job for them. They’re fans, too.

canon until s2 says otherwise

The Acolyte + some of my favorite shitposts, part 3
The Acolyte as text posts (again)

I love Manny so much because he made it clear multiple times last weekend that he wants to continue playing Qimir in The Acolyte, and not in some spin-off by another creator. He’s so real because he knows that without Leslye in charge, we’d lose his interesting backstory, his nuanced portrayal, and the way Qimir’s been crafted to be a complex character who isn’t a typical Sith but somewhere in between.
He probably saw that *those people* have been trying to separate him from The Acolyte, and he's probably taking a stand to let them know that it’s either The Acolyte or no Qimir at all.

"I have no name, but Jedi like you might call me a Sith." - The Stranger
I haven't posted my artwork here on Tumblr for a while! This idea came to me a few days ago. I truly hope you like this!
How amazing was Manny Jacinto as "The Stranger"? Talk about a totally bad-ass Sith! (And a hot Sith, too!) 😉 I've been wanting to see a true Sith like that (when it comes to live action) for a loooong time! He had the best lines, too. Another favourite of mine was: "I don't make the rules, the Jedi do. And the Jedi say I can't exist. They see my face, they all die." And of course, the coldest & most cruel line was: "Was that its name?" Ah, gave me the chills!
This style of artwork is called "Crosshatching". I haven't done this art style in a long time. It was fun to create. And yes, the proportions are correct! Especially with the right arm...you wouldn't see his right bicep from that angle. I used Sakura Pigma Micron pens for the artwork. The space/starry background was done with Koi Watercolours. White highlights around The Stranger is a Sakura gel pen.
I absolutely loved The Acolyte. (And don't come at me with your hatred towards the series. Any hateful comments will be deleted & I will block you.) I loved seeing an era in the Star Wars universe that was never seen before (when it comes to live action). I'm still lamenting over the fact that freaking Disney cancelled The Acolyte. (Shame on Disney & all the toxic SW fans who did their best to destroy the series...hope your misery & hatred makes you "happy" now.) I want more Acolyte. Shoot, even Manny Jacinto himself stated that he wants a season 2 of Acolyte. Yes, YES, YES! Please! Make it happen. 🥺 There is still so much storyline that can be told. The best lightsaber fights & Jedi vs. Sith came from The Acolyte. I wanted to see more "Ohsamir", too! Darn it! And to see how a Sith trains his apprentice. I want to make an Acolyte era style of Jedi, too! Those gauntlets that the Jedi wear look so cool!
