Rick Grimes/Beth Greene

Yes this one of my OTP’s/comfort ships, I don’t mind if you judge me or talk badly about this ship. I may discuss them from time to time so just a warning.

I think many don’t ship them because of the age difference which I understand.

Theyre So Adorable And It Definitely Seems Like Emily Kinney And Andrew Lincoln Had Chemistry On Set.

They’re so adorable and it definitely seems like Emily Kinney and Andrew Lincoln had chemistry on set. I always get euphoric when I read stuff like this.

 Spoilers ahead!

(If you haven’t seen S3-5)

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Tell me about the emotions of having to say goodbye to Emily Kinney, who played Beth on the show?

ANDREW LINCOLN: Yeah, man. That was such a body blow. I really didn’t see it coming. I had absolutely no idea and I think everyone was reeling from that one. Always when you get about three episodes without a death you know it doesn’t bode well. Everybody starts getting twitchy. Emily is such a beloved person on set and such an incredible actress. I understood it. You get it in hindsight because you know if she hadn’t done such a magnificent job portraying this character she probably wouldn’t be in the firing line, you know what I mean? It’s symptomatic of such a great performance that we needed an emotional impact, and unfortunately, Beth was the character to do it this season, and it was harrowing.

The whole experience of shooting it was, as always, painful. And also you do feel robbed as well because I did not get enough time with her. I remember doing a scene with Emily during the Hershel beheading and she’s such a fine actress. I was in the middle of the scene and I walked forward to the fence having this exchange with the Governor and I remember putting my hand down and reaching out, and as he brought Hershel and Michonne on to their knees and my hand came out, she held my hand. She just knew it was there. It was that kind of amazing sense that she had. I really regret not having more time with her. I actually pitched an idea, I think in season 3. I said, “I think Beth should have a crush on Rick. And Rick doesn’t have a clue how to deal with it. And also, Carl is really upset about it. And then Hershel gets involved as well.” And everybody ignored me as usual. But I thought it was quite a good pitch.

I’ve seen you on set before and you are an intense guy and this was an intense sequence at the hospital. What did you do to get in the right place for filming that?

We all go off and do our own sort of crazy stuff and I think the crew is used to us being a little crazy. Certainly when you do a scene like that which is so odd and upsetting and strange I kind of just listen to music and get quiet before I do it. And then if it’s a physical scene you need to be amped up and I’ll do a physical preparation, but with that one it was just an odd experience because it was a new environment. It was a strange environment with new people, having what should have been a hostage exchange that just goes wrong. It was uncomfortable. I didn’t enjoy it. It’s not an enjoyable scene. And also, to lose somebody that is so important to the group that we would be fighting to find, was unbearable.

And it’s a funny thing because there’s a scene where we come out of the hospital in the aftermath and Norman is carrying Emily and I am sort of leading the way. And I had made a conscious decision that Rick is driven on this, he’s just done on this. He’s gonna push people forward and not get emotionally engaged. I tried to do it. And then having Lauren Cohan and Steven’s reaction to seeing the body carried by Norman was unbearable. I kept having to turn away from the camera because my eyes were just weeping. Tears were rolling down my face. Watching LC and Steven’s performances in that scene, my mind exploded reconstituting that stuff, and then exploded again. They were so good. It was just a bad day at the office, dude. I hate saying goodbye to people at the best of times. But when Emily Kinney, who is such a fine actress and one of the sweetest human beings you are ever going to meet — it was a terribly sad episode. And we’re still reeling. She was family. It sucks.

'til the sun goes down (r. grimes x b. greene)

requested by @rl-nancyholbrook

warnings: violence, death, age gap

note: i have never written for this pairing before, so hopefully it came out okay! i also changed some dialogue around so it wasn't an exact replica of the script. i really hope you like this :)

'til The Sun Goes Down (r. Grimes X B. Greene)

Relief rushed through Rick when Beth joined them on their side of the corridor. His hand came to her back as he guided her back behind him, out of the line of fire should things go sour. He noted the facial lacerations and cast on her arm. The injuries looked well cared for, but the idea she got injured in the first place didn't sit well with him.

"Now I just need Noah," said Dawn, "and then you can leave."

Rick glanced back at the young man. His face had fallen. He had escaped the hospital because he hadn't wanted to be there. Just like Beth hadn't wanted to be there. And Rick could see in the faces of the other officers they didn't want to be there either.

He shook his head. "No. That wasn't part of our deal. He's coming with us."

"Noah was my ward. I'm losing Beth, so I need him back." Dawn shrugged and stared down the group. "Give me Noah, or the deal's off."

"Then the deal is done." Rick shifted his weight and readjusted his grip on his gun. "We're taking Beth and Noah with us. We're done here."

"Like hell we are."

Guns were aimed swiftly from both sides. Both leaders challenged each other silently, daring the other to take the first shot. Rick felt the tension coil around his muscles. If Grady Memorial wouldn't let them leave peacefully, then he was prepared to leave with dead bodies in his wake. There was no way he was letting either Noah or Beth stay behind.

Noah stepped forward with his hands up. "It's okay," he said calmly. "I'll go."

"Nah," said Daryl roughly, "you ain't stayin'. It ain't up for debate."

"I have to," insisted Noah firmly. "It's the only way they'll let you guys go safe. The only way they'll let Beth go."

At the mention of her name, Beth stepped forward. She reached for Noah, and for a moment, Rick wondered if they had something between them. Something more than friendship. The thought pained him, but he would rather her be happy than unsafe.

Rick never revealed his true feelings towards Beth. She had been sixteen when they first came to the Greene farm. Now she was eighteen, a young woman who had more than blossomed out of her shell. But the age difference between them, it caused him some distress.

How would the others look at him if they knew? He was their leader. They couldn't lose that respect for him. But being separated from her, knowing she had been taken, not knowing if she was even still alive . . . Did it really matter anymore, in the world they now lived in?

Beth pulled Noah in tightly. "You don't have to do this," she said. "You belong with us. Don't do this."

"It's okay," repeated Noah softly. "It'll be okay."

On the other side of the hall, Dawn watched on. Rick wanted nothing more than to wipe the smug smile from her face. She thought she'd won, that she was getting Noah back in her clutches, and Rick wasn't about to let any of that happen. They had lost far too much for this to end like this.

Dawn eyed Noah triumphantly. "I knew you'd be back."

Beth's gaze, icy as the winters they'd endured, snapped to the Grady Memorial ringleader sharply. She pulled away from Noah to face her with an expression so hard and so determined it almost didn't seem like it was on her soft features.

"I get it now." She stepped up to Dawn. A tense moment passed before Rick caught a glimpse of something silver glinting in the spare lighting.

He jumped into action. "Beth, no!"

Her hand plunged forward and drove the scissors into Dawn's stomach. Rick grabbed her arm and yanked her back against him just as a gunshot echoed through the hospital. Another beat passed them by while they watched Dawn crumple to the linoleum, crimson bleeding forth from the puncture in her abdomen.

Beth's shaky breaths vibrated through him as she stood against him. He swallowed thickly and looked at the others standing before them.

"Anyone who wants to leave can come with us," he said firmly. "It's over. We're done here."

Walking out of Grady Memorial Hospital was almost like walking into the sun after being trapped in darkness. Maggie and Beth reunited in a sea of emotions which could come only from the unconditional love shared between sisters who had been ripped apart for far too long in a world where everything else had been taken from them.

The blonde approached him after the sun went down and everyone else had hunkered in for the night. She called his name softly as she approached him on his guard duty. Bags formed dark circles beneath her eyes, and in that moment, she looked years older. But that spark in her eyes remained strong in spite of everything she had endured.

They sat in silence for a while.

"I never thanked you," she said finally. "For saving Noah and coming for me."

"You're family." Rick looked at her. "And not just Maggie's. You mean a lot to us. You mean a lot to me," he said.

Beth returned his gaze steadily. She released a soft sigh and leaned her head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head and looked back out into the darkness, watching the treeline carefully for any threats.

"Family can mean a lot of things, Rick." Her voice carried softly through the night like a whisper in the breeze.

"It can."

She tipped her head up to look at him. "What does it mean for you?"

"The people I would do anything to protect, no matter the cost. The people I love."

"So, you love me." A small smile played on her lips. She was teasing him.

But he was serious. "I do, Beth. Probably more than I should."

Beth hummed and turned her head away again. After a moment, her hand came to his, dainty fingers lacing with his own. She traced a random pattern against his skin.

"Daddy used to tell Momma he loved her 'til the sun went down and never came back," she said. She cracked a smile. "She'd say he was lucky we weren't in Alaska."

Rick chuckled. "Well, even in Alaska, the sun eventually returns." He sighed and glanced at her. "I don't think he would approve," he said.

"Of what?"

"How I feel about you."

Beth shook her head. "Probably not, but he'd wanna see me happy, too."

She lifted her head from his shoulder. Lips curled upwards, she kissed his cheek gently before standing up. Rick looked after the youngest Greene as she headed back inside the small house they'd chosen to shelter in for the night.

Rick Grimes definitely loved Beth Greene more than he should. In a world so backwards and upside down, where loved ones could be ripped away from them at any second, maybe two broken hearts could heal each other.
